Is Arsenal Striker Eddie Nketiah Good Enough For Nottingham Forest? Club Forces Referee Rule Change!

Nottingham Forest's search for a new striker continues, and the latest name on their radar is Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah. As Steve Cooper looks to bolster his attacking options, the 24-year-old has emerged as a potential target. But is Nketiah the answer to Forest's goal-scoring woes? Since making his first-team debut, Eddie Nketiah has had a mixed spell at Arsenal, scoring 19 goals in 116 appearances across all competitions. While he's shown flashes of brilliance, particularly in cup competitions, Nketiah has struggled to cement his place as a regular starter in Mikel Arteta's side. Reports suggest that Arsenal would demand around £25 million for Nketiah—a hefty sum for a player yet to prove himself as a top-tier striker. For Forest, this would represent a significant investment, and the club must weigh up whether his potential upside justifies the price. Would Nketiah be worth the outlay, or should Forest look elsewhere for better value? Let us know in the comments. It ended up honours even in a game that was last on Match of the Day, but Forest will be a bit disappointed not to have taken all three points after creating the better chances. Harry Toffolo had an effort from distance, before Morgan Gibbs-White hit the post, and Murillo almost scored a memorable goal with a mazy dribble and shot that was saved by the keeper. In the second half, Gonzalo Montiel was unlucky with two scissor kicks, but on the other hand, Jean-Philippe Mateta should really have scored and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi had his effort blocked by Toffolo. Nottingham Forest #nffc look set to complete their 4th signing of this summer transfer window, with world cup winning right back Gonzalo Montiel heading to Nottingham today to complete his medical and sign his contract.  The deal with #sevilla looks set to be a loan with a obligation to buy for around the £10 million mark, the reason for this could be to bypass FFP rules, as we all know Nottingham Forest have concerns over FFP this summer and pushing the transfer into next year helps balance the books. Montiel is a experienced right back, with champions league games under his belt, and of course good experience on the international level with Argentina. Could the arrival of Montiel see the the departure of Serge Aurier, with reports coming out today that the Saudi League is interested making a bid for the Ivory Coast International, so would you see this as an upgrade in the right back position, or would you be sad to see Aurier leave? Let us know in the comments below. In other news we have to mentioned yet again, Dean Henderson, as #manutd look set to complete the signing of backup keeper, this frees up space for Henderson to be allowed to leave. But with Crystal Palace now leading the race for Hendo, Forest might miss out on their number one goalkeeper target. We do have news of outgoings today aswell, with out of favour midfielder Jonjo Shelvey being linked to Leeds United today. The English midfielder has not featured in Steve Coopers plans this season so far, and a move away looks likely before the transfer window closes. After finally winning the World Cup, Lionel Messi made his strongest case yet to be considered soccer's greatest player of all time. It will never be possible to say definitively, though, even after Argentina's 4-2 penalty shootout victory over France on Sunday in the final at Lusail Stadium. Messi has been his country's inspiration throughout the tournament in Qatar and scored twice in the game that finished 3-3 through extra time. It's just crazy that it became a reality this way," Messi said. "I craved for this so much. I knew God would bring this gift to me. I had the feeling that this was the one."“以这种方式实现实在是太疯狂了,”梅西说。 Kylian Mbappe certainly made Messi work for a golden trophy that had eluded him throughout his storied career. The France forward scored a hat-trick as the defending champions came back from 2-0 down and then evened the match again after Messi made it 3-2 in extra time. But this was Messi's night and Messi's World Cup. It took so long, but here it is," Messi said. "We suffered a lot, but we managed to do it." For some, no one will ever surpass Pele, who won the World Cup three times with Brazil. Even in Messi's homeland of Argentina, Diego Maradona remains, for many, the country's ultimate soccer icon after captaining the national team to the 1986 World Cup title. And for the past 15 years or so, Messi has had a personal rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo just to establish himself as the finest player of his generation. Competition is fierce when it comes to determining the greatest of all time, or the GOAT, as it has come to be known. It can come down to the smallest of margins that separate players of such brilliance. Messi's failure to win the sport's biggest prize has always counted against him when measuring his achievements against Pele and Maradona. The same goes for Ronaldo. Messi is a seven-time winner of the Ballon d'Or award for the best player in the world and lifted club soccer's biggest prize, the Champions League trophy, on four occasions. He ended his wait for a first major trophy with his country at last year's Copa America. The World Cup, however, is the ultimate measure of greatness and Pele and Maradona secured immortality with inspirational performances on that stage. That had eluded Messi until Sunday. Yes, he was part of the Argentina team that lost to Germany 1-0 in the 2014 final, but the magic he produced game in, game out during his peak years for Barcelona never seemed to translate when wearing the blue and white stripes of his country. At 35 and nearing the end of his career, the tournament in Qatar was widely seen as his final shot at the World Cup. And if that is the case, he saved his best for last.35岁的他已经接近职业生涯的尾声,人们普遍认为卡塔尔世界杯是他在世界杯上的最后一战。 Messi does not dominate over 90 minutes anymore, but instead decides matches with moments of genius. He scored seven goals in Qatar, but, arguably, his assists have been more memorable. His disguised pass for Nahuel Molina's goal against the Netherlands in the quarterfinals was weighted and measured to perfection. His twisting and turning run to beat Croatia defender Joško Gvardiol and set up teammate Julian Alvarez in the semifinals felt like peak Messi, only in slow motion. He has now surpassed Pele with 13 goals at World Cups and is tied for fourth with Just Fontaine on the all-time list. His seven in this year's tournament surpassed Maradona's five at the 1986 edition in Mexico. Messi has now scored a national team-record 98 goals in 172 games. That places him third in the all-time scoring list for men's internationals, behind Cristiano Ronaldo (118) and Ali Daei (109). There has been a sense of destiny for Messi and Argentina, even after its shocking 2-1 loss to Saudi Arabia in the team's opening game of the World Cup. Messi had to summon every bit of energy in his aging limbs to get Argentina through the final and hold off Mbappe. Leading 2-0 and cruising to the title as the game approached the last 10 minutes, Mbappe intervened to remind everyone that he has already overtaken Messi and Ronaldo as the best player in the world right now. He scored in the 80th and 81st minutes to turn the game upside down. When Messi put Argentina back in front in the 108th minute, he looked to have scored the winner. Will Argentina's wild win over France go down as the greatest world cup of all time?

Whether this will go down as the greatest world cup of all time is still up in the air but it will surely go down as the finest World Cup final of all time, the most pulsating, one of the greatest games in history because of how Kylian Mbappé hauled France up off the canvas towards the end of normal time. It had been billed as Messi v Mbappe, the Argentinian hero opening the scoring from the penalty spot and having a hand in Ángel Di María's goal for 2-0. But then came Mbappé, shattering the notion that Argentina would close out the win with the minimum of fuss. This Argentina team do not really operate like that. They love to trade in late drama. Think of their wins over Australia and the Netherlands in the knockout rounds. A part of the story was France's champion courage, the 2018 winners being revived by a clutch of Didier Deschamps substitutions. That and Mbappé, who was unplayable from the 80th minute. He scored twice in 97 seconds to force extra-time; the first a penalty, the second a sublime side-on volley and there was a point towards the end of regulation time when he appeared hell-bent on making sure that the additional period would not be needed. Back came Argentina in extra-time, Messi scoring his second for 3-2. But back came France, Mbappé equalising with a second penalty on 118 minutes for his hat-trick and the Golden Boot. He finished the tournament with eight – one more than Messi. He joined Sir Geoff Hurst as a hat-trick scorer in the men's final. At this point it is worth delving into the mayhem that gripped at the very end of extra-time. Neither team were ready to accept that a penalty shootout was inevitable. Not a bit of it. Randal Kolo Muani, on as a substitute for the game of his life, could not stretch to head home a cross byMbappé and will have nightmares about the one-on-one that he failed to convert, the Argentina goalkeeper, Emiliano Martínez, coming out on top. At the other end the Argentina substitute Lautaro Martínez blew a gilt-edged header and then Mbappé beat two men on yet another explosive burst but not a third. Never has so much been crammed into an extra-time finale. So to penalties and, after Mbappé and Messi had scored, it was over to Emiliano Martínez and some of his dark arts to make the difference. After he had saved from the substitute Kingsley Coman, Martínez threw the ball away before the next France kick, forcing the 22-year-old Aurélien Tchouaméni to go and fetch it, further heightening his anxiety. Tchouaméni dragged his kick past the post. Martínez had to be physically restrained by the referee, Szymon Marciniak, from confronting France's next taker, Kolo Muani. Martínez was booked; Kolo Muani lashed home. But the scene was set for the substitute Gonzalo Montiel to win it – to crown Messi and Argentina. When Montiel scored, Messi sank to his knees in the centre circle, engulfed by teammates. Argentina's third World Cup will go down as Messi's World Cup, just as the second in 1986 had belonged to Maradona. Both men came to transcend their teams and the tournaments, with Messi collecting the Golden Ball here as the competition's star player. It has long felt as if he has had a celestial scriptwriter at work, guiding him to his destiny. The image of him and the trophy was what so many fans – and not just those from Argentina – had craved.
