In this unique podcast. Greg Pryor gives great insight on what a professional baseball player thinks and does during a real game. We sat behind home plate as Greg shared his keen knowledge.   Greg Pryor played professional baseball for 16 years between 1971 and 1987, 10 of them in the major leagues. Originally drafted by the Washington Senators, Greg went on play for the Chicago White Sox. In 1984 was Greg's most dramatic success. Filling for both an oft-injured George Brett and second baseman Frank White, Pryor became a “supersub” as Kansas City won the American League West. The following year, he won a World Series ring with the Royals.

Baseball great Greg Pryor is a good friend. He texted me to tell me I spelled a word wrong in my book. It was actually the name of the man who hired him to play on the Chicago White Sox. The man's name is Bill Veeck. I spelled it “Veck.”  Greg simply let me know for my next printing. I didn't interpret it that way. What happened next, is the beauty of the podcast. When we only hear and read words through our own “filter” it can cause damage to a friendship. But when we take the time to understand and admit we reacted through our own ‘filter' and it wasn't the best way to respond – your friendship can get closer. That's what happened, and it was me who reacted like, well, rather childish. Hey, You Just Have To Laugh at yourself, and things can really clear up. This is great podcast in communication. He chats about eating at Michael Meredith's restaurant saying it was incredible and couldn't believe what he had done with a potato and cabbage dish. Pryor adds, “there's something that is my drive to try and get people to experiment more at home and appreciate food more when they go out, but also appreciate the adventure that is food.” Pryor shares with us his recipe Burnt Butter, Pistachio, and Potato Soup, which he says came from looking for something that was hearty, warm and fall-like. This recipe comes with an option to add grilled salmon. Pryor talks about creating echoes of the foundational flavors, saying that the dish is about bringing layers of flavor and texture to something as simple as a soup. Tune into the podcast to learn more on how Pryor feels about following recipes, what he has to say about cooking with sous vide, and his thoughts about the industry on this episode of Chef AF “It's All Food” or you can listen at Spotify!

We're excited to get in the way-back machine for this week's Mocs on the Mic Podcast. OK…so maybe not way back but our heroes are former standouts on the Roundhouse hardcourt. Our host Chris Goforth spends time visiting with Greg Pryor and Justin Tuoyo. Pryor was a 4-year starter during one of the best runs in school history. He directed an 88-win run from the point guard position including a school-record 29 in 2016 winning Most Outstanding Player at the Southern Conference Tournament, the 11th win in the event which ranks second most all-time in league history. His 2020 professional season in England was cut short by the Covid crisis. Tuoyo memories and personality are as large as he played on the court. The 3-time SoCon Defensive Player of the Year holds every school record for blocked shots. His three campaigns in the Arena resulted in 70 wins, a SoCon title and ranking as one of the biggest fan favorites in school history. The pandemic also ended his professional season in Switzerland.
