I'm turning back the clock to January 4, 2022. That's the day I posted the first chapter episode for this podcast covering the first chapter of Sorcerer's Stone. It's also the day I posted 2 theory episodes to Patreon called "All the Hookah Smoke" and "How Did He Know." Did Dumbledore create the hookah object we saw Grindlewald use in Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindlewald? What about that instant replay magic we saw Newt use in the same move? Have we seen that before? My answers are yes - and I'll explain as I'm revisiting these theories. Remembering what my thoughts were back then, what my thoughts are now, connecting them together, and discussing them with myself -- and you. Kieran and Matty D journey into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter as they attempt to predict the plot of "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore", just based on the promotional material alone. SIGN UP FOR THE POTTER DISCUSSION NEWSLETTER AND CLAIM YOUR GUIDE HERE!In this episode I explain Ariana's secret. Enjoy!Summary: Ariana Dumbledore was the sister of Albus and Aberforth Dumbledore. She was killed in the famous duel between her brothers and Grindlewald. However, I don't think she was just a sister. She was something more. Ariana is an obscurial. An obscurial is the host body of the obscuruse. This theory revolves around one passage Aberforth said in the seventh book. He said, "It destroyed her what they did. She was never right again. She wouldn't use magic but she couldn't get rid of it. It turned inward and drove her mad. It exploded out of her when she couldn't control it." That sounds a lot like Credence. His foster mom beat him because of his magical blood. When his emotions ran wild, he would explode. This passage also revealed that Ariana was attacked. That would explain when the obscuruse formed. And when it died, so did she.Gmail: ThePotterDiscussion@gmail.com Instagram: @thepotterdiscussionWebsite: https://www.thepotterdiscussion.buzzzsprout.com

SIGN UP FOR THE POTTER DISCUSSION NEWSLETTER AND CLAIM YOUR GUIDE HERE!In this episode I explain why the blood pact made between Albus and Grindlewald was false. Enjoy!Summary: Albus and Grindlewald made a blood pact that was built up to be a large part of their story. But so little attention was payed to the blood pact, it felt as if it didn't even exist at all. Today, I want to tell you why it was one of the biggest obstacles of the whole franchise. I think the blood pact was incomplete. It only protected Albus and not Grindlewald. Here's why. When The Crimes of Grindlewald came out, J. K. Rowling let slip that Grindlewald is a seer. That means he can see into the future. That shakes things up. There's another thing that caught my eye: the skull Grindlewald's seeing power is in. There is an inscription on the forehead of the skull. It said, 'Fur Das Allgemeinwohl'. In English that means 'For the Greater Good'. That phrase was invented by Albus more than a year later. A year later! Grindlewald's seeing ability plays very well into this. Albus used that phrase in a letter he wrote to Grindlewald talking about their lives and how they met. Grindlewald might have had a vision about Albus writing that letter. Grindlewald might have seen what he does in the future. That combined with his other visions of many other things caused him great alarml. I think Grindlewald saw himself winning the duel that was fated to come. That led him down a very dark path. He had all the pieces of the puzzle. He knew exactly what to do so he could ensure his victory. That answers the question right there. Grindlewald and Albus meeting was planned. Grindlewald was using their meeting as a a stepping stone in his plan. It was a fabricated reality for Grindlewald to achieve his dreams. That means his love for Dumbledore was fake. A blood pact is only as good as the love that binds it. If Grindlewald didn't love Albus, but Albus loved Grindlewald, Albus is the only one with the protection needed to do what he did.Gmail: ThePotterDiscussion@Gmail.comInstagram: @thepotterdiscussionWebsite: https://www.thepotterdiscussion.buzzsprout.comTheory made in collaboration with Max Dow.

SIGN UP FOR THE POTTER DISCUSSION NEWSLETTER AND CLAIM YOUR GUIDE HERE!In this episode I show another deathly hallow. Enjoy!Summary: The three deathly hallows have been the center of every Harry Potter book. But I think there might be four of them. The fourth deathly hallow is Madeye Moody's eye. It can see through the invisibility cloak which is impossible! How could such a powerful thing be made? I think a very powerful wizard must have created Moody's eye: Grindlewald. He is a very powerful wizard who lived at the right time to fit the sequence of events. If you look at a picture of Grindlewald, you can see he has a strange, bright blue eye. The same one as Moody's? Finally, when Harry and Krum are talking at Bill and Fleur's wedding, Krum is mad that Luna's dad is wearing Grindlewald's mark. Grindlewald again! Due to Hollywood's quest to erase any film that isn't already connected to another film by any means necessary, there have been a lot of sequels over the years. Some good, others...just...just real bad, guys. So Scott and Mark Russell are here to bitch about their personal worst ones! And not just because you'll probably agree with all of them. Okay, most of them. Some of them. A few. WORK WITH ME HERE, PEOPLE! Plus, check out all our sweet AP2HYC Merch! Skip to 37:00 if you don't want to listen to us talk about being social justice warriors. Seriously, don't say we didn't warn you. This week, the tweet heard 'round the world, Harry's boulevard of broken nonsense Dumbledore gave him, the vagaries and idiocies of youth, but also the wonderful intensity of being a 17-year-old, and another mystifying character age discrepency. Plus: Heather says both the words "aunt" and "Grindlewald" differently in every sentence. This week's chapter: The Life & Lies of Albus Dumbledore Next week's chapter: The Silver Doe
Wow, that's a lot to unpack. So first off, in honor of the passing of Stan Lee, I started the Just Imagine series of DC comics. This series was a re-imagining of our favorite Justice League members as if they were created by Stan "The Man" himself. Then I relived the early 2000's glory of raunchy comedy - Waiting - which was basically Clerks, but set in a T.G.I. Fridays. After that, we briefly touch on The Crimes of Grindlewald and when I say 'briefly' it's so brief I don't even care enough to look up the correct spelling of his name.Harsh, right? Well, it was garbage and he should feel bad. But, last and arguably the most enjoyable bit, was that we binged the delightful Amazon Series, Good Omens, based on the book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It was brilliant.Download and listen to this brand new episode wherever you get podcasts!Music: http://www.hooksounds.comComposed by: Alvaro AngeloroLyrics by: TheDoctorDanko

This is a mega-sized episode! Terrorist attacks at two mosques in New Zealand, J.K. Rowling speaks out about Dumbledore and Grindlewald's "intense" relationship, and exciting Hufflepuff news! I am joined by Lauren DeGraw, a wonderful Ravenclaw, from the Elixir of Life Podcast to talk about the politics of community in chapter 15 of GoF. In dissecting what communities mean for us and in the series, we talk about religious communities, how leaving our respective religions (her: mormonism, me: catholicism) has affected how we view the concept of community, how each Wizarding school is its own pocket community in the Wizarding World, striving to be more like Harry and less like Ron, Hermione's love of books because they're her introduction to Wizarding community, and much more. We get into Crimes of Grindlewald, Overlord, Teen Titans Go to the Movies, Fargo, Happy Valley, and the new Schindler's List sequel. I don't think we spoil any of it. But who cares. Every movie sucks and is a waste of time.

Well Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald probably isn't that but join us anyway as we really dissect what went wrong with this movie(and franchise), what made the Harry Potter movies work by comparison, and determine once and for all the best and worst wizard hair.
The Brothers Brotastic have been on a bit of a hiatus due to sickness and holidays, but they are back!! Right out the gate they tackle an issue with the British Film Institute saying no to scarred villains. Bad news for James Bond films. Also Daredevil's Cancellation, as well as the bevy of streaming services; are there too many? Philip and Andrew welcome each other back from Thanksgiving break and recall the holiday as both pleasant and not so pleasant. Some people got sick. Next up, some of the movies they have seen since the last show, Halloween, The Meg, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald. Philip enjoyed Halloween and The Meg. Andrew thought Fantastic Beasts was okay, but did not stand on its own. The BFI announced that it will no longer fund movies that depict the villains with scars. They feel that real life scar victims shouldn't live with the stigma of being evil just because they have a scar. Philip and Andrew both understand this issue, but Philip has an issue with BFI making that choice for the filmmaker. Both the brothers however do see that it might be off-putting to be a scar victim and any time you see a person who looks like you in film, its a villain. BFI also announced they are funding a movie starring a real life burn victim in a roll about scars. Netflix cancelled Daredevil, and both Andrew and Philip feel like that was the final nail in the coffin for Netflix's Marvel shows. Luke Cage and Iron Fist got the boot about a month ago, but they also were not as successful as Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Will they live on with their current actors? Or will they be recast and rebooted later? Finally, Streaming services!! So many!! Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, CBS All Access, DC Universe. But then, Warner Media is planning a service, Disney is planning a service. More are sure to be on the way. Is it really cutting the cable if you subscribe to 8 or more streaming services? They don't have 2 year contracts like cable and satellite services have, so there is that. Until next time, We'll see you at the movies. And don't forget to check you ticket stubs.
On this wonderful show of a mess, Alex, Chad, and Jean-luc chat the DC cinematic universe, Fantastic Beasts and the Crimes of Grindlewald, a bit of Riverdale, Darksiders 3, and then a ton of comic books! It's Mat Eaters, Hereos in Crisis, Wonder Woman, Sonic, Redneck, Warning, and Archie! Join us for a fun time, won't you? And watch out for Mollestro
It's a quite bewitching week of cinema; in this episode we're discussing two of the year's most talked about releases, Luca Guadagnino's remake of horror classic 'Suspiria' and Potter spin-off sequel 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald'Suspiria sees Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name) reunite with serial collaborator Tilda Swinton, to play the artistic director of a world-renowned dance company to create a bold and memorable horror from one of the most reliable auteurs in cinema today. Expanding JK Rowling's Wizarding World even further, this second installment in the Fantastic Beasts series finds Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) battling notorious dark wizard Gellart Grindleward (Johnny Depp). Newt must team up with Albus Dumbledore (now played by Jude Law) to thwart Grindlewald's plans for his pure-blood wizards to conquer the world.Discussing the film this week are Sam Howlett, Ella Kemp and Jake CunninghamFollow the team on twitter:@efekemp - Ella@CunninghamJH - JakeSam - KellyProduced and edited by Jake CunninghamMusic from incompetech.com Hosted on Acast.
