The Trylon’s playing movies we already recorded on earlier in the pandemic, so we’ve changed the rules for a short Non-’Lon Series on movies we HAVEN’T seen and may never see at the Trylon! Aaron’s pick takes us to the dystopian UK of 1982’s PINK FLOYD – THE WALL, a musical journey through not just one man’s steady decline into fascist individualism, but that of all of Western society. In this discussion, we consider what the visual story structure does for the music it’s based on, what elements of the movie have been blindly co-opted by the international conservative front, and what the movie’s use of viewpoint does to communicate its story. The Trylon’s playing movies we already recorded on earlier in the pandemic, so we’ve changed the rules for a short Non-’Lon Series on movies we HAVEN’T seen and may never see at the Trylon! Sports correspondent Cody chose MONEYBALL (2011), a baseball-centric movie that fits so well in his wheelhouse, it’s a wonder we haven’t talked about it until now. Over the course of our conversation, we discuss the movie’s unique focus on the system of baseball as well as the game; the staid status quo of pre-Moneyball baseball; and what exactly an “anti-sports” sports movie looks like. 2:31 - Cody’s summary and why MONEYBALL? 6:35 - Cody’s thoughts 10:24 - Jason’s thoughts 14:09 - Harry’s thoughts 19:53 - Phantom Aaron’s thoughts 22:35 - Where MONEYBALL wants you to focus 31:32 - Baseball as an engine for stories 41:11 - Billy Beane, the system of baseball, and determinism 49:53 - Sympathy for Beane 57:48 - The Oakland As’ 20-game winning streak 1:05:20 - Great lines in MONEYBALL 1:09:15 - Cody’s Noteys (For Trylove of the Game) Follow us on Twitter at https://twitter.com/trylovepodcast and email us at trylovepodcast@gmail.com to get in touch! The Trylon’s playing movies we already recorded on earlier in the pandemic, so we’ve changed the rules for a short Non-’Lon Series on movies we HAVEN’T seen and may never see at the Trylon! Jason kicks us off with RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (1981), a seminal action-adventure ah hell, you know what RAIDERS is. It’s 40 years old in 2021, so we’re putting on our goggles and giving it a close contemporary read. Of course, we all kinda gush about it (and simp for Karen Allen [really hope she doesn’t get cancelled, we kinda put all our eggs in one basket this ep]), but we also really pick apart what the movie’s really saying about the archetypes and tropes it famously dug back up. What it says about how our heroes embody our virtues, what happens when both of those things change, and which parts of our national identity we choose to cling to through our shared myths. 3:53 - Aaron’s fine, fine summary 8:07 - Jason’s thoughts 12:37 - Cody’s thoughts 16:30 - Harry’s thoughts 20:56 - Aaron’s thoughts 37:46 - Indy, Belloq, and “shadowy reflections” 46:33 - Why we build heroes and what we choose to remember about them 56:35 - The complicated (i.e., gross) Indy/Marion relationship and their general dynamic 1:04:39 - Douglas Slocombe, texture, and what we see in RAIDERS 1:11:29 - From ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE (2021) to RAIDERS 1:13:50 - How the way RAIDERS came together influences what we think of it today 1:17:20 - Harrison Ford is hot Humphrey Bogart forever 1:21:21 - The Year of the Simp: Karen Allen 1:26:49 - Cody’s Noteys (Indiana Knowns) Follow us on Twitter at https://twitter.com/trylovepodcast and email us at trylovepodcast@gmail.com to get in touch! At the end of a year when planet Earth turned into a total-immersion version of a post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie, the Robby The Robot’s Waiting team take the only logical course of action – we look back on a year of TV and film. While 2020 in cinema was as much about the films we didn’t see as the films we did – would Birds Of Prey be making it into top five lists in any other year? – TV has arguably never been better. Examples are the feudal guard, thunder warriors and dark mechanicum. The other one is Duncan Shadow Louca. His stuff is excellent most of the time but maybe not all good for 30/40k. Ive got a bunch of Nurgly demon files that are excellent. WARNING: Those with mysophonia (see episode _______) may find this episode irritating. That’s because Caddy has to consistently open and chew his edibles throughout the show. Drop his name at Hemp Farmacy and pick one up for yourself. How long will this go on? When will it end? That’s what Caddy has been thinking about Donna’s new workspace. The country music hall of fame inductees have been announced. At least one of them is wildly overdue- Hank Williams Jr. That’s why the first segment touches on “Old Habits.” Speaking of past due, Phil Collins has reappeared on the iTunes Top 10. Caddy explains why. PS - who has 6 hours to learn a dance? Caddy only has 6 hours to watch them. Donna wants to know more about how artists are handling press while being at home so much. It’s a bit hard to hear because Caddy has to open and eat his edible. It’s a long story… Still, some country artists have to work through changes in their home lives. For the technically challenged, it’s a bit harder to set up these online interviews and shows. On the upside, artists can be a bit more comfortable in their own homes. That is, unless they’d rather be out in the wild. Donna mentions at least one artist who would. Luke Bryan, for instance, says that he’s never had more time to go fishing. “I’m 21 and I’ve never been kissed.” That’s the intro to the next segment. Caddy and Donna discuss six people and the big life experiences that they HAVEN’T had. Naturally that leads into a good ol’ game of Never Have I Ever. As Caddy says, the questions “start pedestrian” before “getting dirty.” On the third and final segment of the show, Donna and Caddy talk about the Atlanta Braves. As one of the few sports organizations owned by a publicly-traded company, looking at the team gives a peek behind the door of national athletics. The Braves saw a 95% drop in revenue for Q2. No players are receiving more than 37% of their contracted salaries. Wendys locations are closing. Donna points out that we’re just now starting to see the “large, long term” effects on national scale. Caddy gives his prediction for what the next few months will bring. We’re long on podcasts.
Hot on the heels of our extra special, tear soaked, kilt wearing, codpiece filled, Masterchef mini-pod, we’re back to give you our take on last night's finale between Emelia and Laura. It was a lady lead cook off on an epic scale and having Jock flaunting his knees in high socks and a kilt, just helped to turn the heat up for Em and Michael. That’s not the only eye candy we plan on covering off either, who knew there was so much sauciness to be had from witnessing Hollywood actor and Superman star Henry Cavill just casually building a PC in a singlet. Honestly watching him delicately insert parts, into other equally delicate parts, using his big manly fingers, whilst rocking an iso-beard and showing off the occasional chunky bicep, or that butt of his that just won’t quit, was the gift none of us knew we needed. There’s also time to get around the news of Princess Beatrice’s recent secret Royal wedding. As you’d expect, Em’s interest level and care factor was probably sitting at about 10, Michael’s...not so much. Obviously some of this podcast needed to be recorded after the Masterchef winners had been announced, so expect a different level of intoxication within and maybe a smidge more ‘motional moments from both Em and Michael. Oh and if you HAVEN’T witnessed Henry Cavill getting sexy with those aforementioned computer parts, need we say more? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Content Sells: Attract, Convert & Keep Your Ideal Clients with Content Marketing That Works
Have you ever mapped out your Customer Journey? Have you ever written down the journey someone takes step by step as they go from not knowing about you through to being your customer and beyond? If you HAVE then you know what a game-changing experience it can be. If you HAVEN’T then maybe by the end of this episode we will have inspired you to take a look at that as something you might want to do. In this episode your hosts, Suzi Dafnis and Michelle Falzon not only talk about getting clear on your Customer Journey, they also share how taking the time to do that will ALSO help you organise and inspire your content… and here’s the best part… it will also make your content WAY more effective at attracting, converting and KEEPING your customers AND you also won’t be wasting your time creating content that you don’t need. Are you remembering the basics? Are you remembering to do the basics of what makes you feel good? The festive period is a funny time of year for so many reasons. We’ve had Christmas now but we’re still ‘in’ it! We’ve probably still got a lot going on and plans to make for New Year. I personally love the festive season but I also know I can struggle if i’m not careful, as I know MANY other people do. By this time of the year I’m in need of a BREAK and I know so many of you can relate because i’ve talked to lots of you about it! There’s just something about it that makes it feel like a bit of an energy suck. You’ve got to wrap the presents, sort your year end financials, work out what went right and what didn’t. What you want for next year. Tie up loose ends, get the Christmas cards out, tie up any client work so you can have a proper break, probably still do work in between Xmas day and New Years, do the shopping, wrap the presents, do the socialising...phewf...it can be a lot! That’s not even to mention people who are lonely or struggle with the festive season because of losses, strained relationships, divorce or anything else along those lines! It can be tough for various reasons. There CAN also be a lot of fun to be had too. The drinks, the mulled wine, the crackers, the presents, an excuse to see loved ones, the festive cheer, ELF, HAPPY NEW YEAR! All that jazz! But the funny thing that I see with this time of year is our good habits often seem to go out the window a little bit. We forget to do the things that we know make us feel good (the journaling, the morning routine, the exercise, eating well, drinking plenty of water etc), do more of the things that make us feel bad (the booze, the immense amount of pigs in blankets, the late nights)...and then wonder why we’re feeling like it’s all a bit of a struggle and we’re exhausted. We wait and say, i’ll pick it up again in January. This month’s a write off. Don’t get me wrong, I'm not for one second saying don’t have fun. It’s a time to be jolly after all! What i’m saying is try to keep hold of some of the things you know make you feel good so you can protect yourself and minimise the impact. AND, importantly, be able to create awareness of how you’re feeling so you don’t think you’ve gone bonkers or feel like you want to quit your business and like there’s something wrong with you. This time of year when we start to feel tired and exhausted it’s super easy for us to feel like it’s ‘us’. Like there’s something ‘wrong’. Shift the focus. It’s easy to focus on the things we HAVEN’T achieved when we’re approaching the end of the year. Really easy, we’re wired for a negativity bias. So, shift it back to all the amazing things you HAVE done. Ask a few people if you’re struggling, other people tend to remember more than you (that’s why I LOVE keeping track and reflecting every month and year so I remind myself) But also, ask WHY you haven’t achieved all of the things you wanted to. What got in your way this time? Where can you tweak things to make sure it doesn’t happen for next year? What do you want more of and less of for the year ahead? What are the 3 big things you want to achieve in the next year? Start shifting the focus towards all the things you CAN do, where you can take responsibility and understand that you have the control and the power to change anything you want. The BIGGEST help this time of year is gratitude. Wherever you are, with whoever you are what can you do to shift your state to one of gratitude? If you’re dealing with difficult dynamics and relationships how can you make sure YOU show up as the best version of you? That’s what you have control over, how YOU show up. Other people tend to fall in line, we’re always unconsciously reacting to assumptions, deletions and distortions. If there are certain topics that you know are going to wind you up how can you shift away from them? Most people love talking about themselves so for me, if there's a subject I don’t want to enter into with certain people, I just ask them a question about them. The person in control of the conversation is usually the one asking the questions! So, what positive habits can you pick back up RIGHT NOW without waiting, or writing any time off? How can you shift your focus to one of gratitude? How can you shift your focus to what you have control over, to what you want! Shift your focus to all the progress you’ve made! What changes do you want to make? This is going to be your year my friend. Don’t let anything get in the way! If you know that now is the time to start changing things for yourself and want to explore this further, have any questions or want some accountability to make sure you’re doing the things you need to then please book in a free discovery call so we can see what needs to happen to get you from where you’re at right now, to the successful business owner you know you can be!! You’ve learned a couple of different ways to set Goals, you’ve heard how the dance has changed as our contributors have entered it ad different times, you’ve learned about the history of zills, musicality, style, authenticity, music, I mean what HAVEN’T we covered? A lot. Here’s the thing, there is SO much to know in this dance, and most of it isn’t cut and dried. There are nuances, variations, multiple explanations and pathways and options. So today I wanted to talk to you about overwhelm and how it’s all too prevalent in our dance, and what YOU can do about it. Because make no mistake, this feeling holds a lot of people back. Another SLVS first this week as we are joined once again by a past guest. But wait! Havent you lads done that before? Yes! But this time, the guest reached out to us and pitched us an episode idea and it's one we couldn't pass up. So, we are joined once again by an old pal in the form of director of Dementia: Part 2, star of Beyond the Gates, The Minds Eye and Jill Gevargizian's upcoming One Last Meal, not to mention being the producer of Frightfest 2019 selection Bliss...It's Matt Mercer! His chosen film? Ravenous! Its Antonia Bird's criminally unloved and underseen cannibal flick which stars Guy Pearce, Jeremy Davies, features an all too brief appearance by David Arquette and also is notable for an absolutely scene-stealing and stellar performance from Robert Carlyle. Don't miss this one. The Synopsis is as follows: Upon receiving reports of missing persons at Fort Spencer, a remote Army outpost on the Western frontier, Capt. John Boyd investigates. After arriving at his new post, Boyd and his regiment aid a wounded frontiersman, F.W. Colquhoun, who recounts a horrifying tale of a wagon train murdered by its supposed guide -- a vicious U.S. Army colonel gone rogue. Fearing the worst, the regiment heads out into the wilderness to verify Colquhoun's gruesome claims. If you could eternally be stuck in one year's music scene, which year would it be & why? I think the 00s. Music was raw and skills either as a dj or producer mattered. 2.) What single night out has been the most memorable for you? As a DJ? As an attendee? As a clubber i will never forget Derick May during WMC in 2007, cant recall the venue. The night easily could turn into a riot when he played last track of his set, crowd was yelling not to stop but in south beach the closing times are different from down town. After all the yelling and shouting he dropped one more but after seconds of it, bouncers went on him. Amazing night! As a dj? pfff honestly too many to remember but will always remember my last tour in brazil and my morning gig in Dirtybird Campout 3.) What is one track that never gets old to you no matter how many times you play it? Rhythim Is Rhythim - Strings Of Life 4.) If you could produce a track with anyone right now who would it be? There are so many good artists around but i think Claude Von Stroke would be my first choice 5.) What advice would you give to an aspiring DJ? To have faith and never stop working hard. 6.) If you could choose any venue or location to perform at where would it be? Id really like to play at a boat party. Havent played yet and really looking forward. 7.) What animal best describes you? The mule. Im persistent and peaceful but if u nag me a lot youll get a kick in your sweeties 8.) Name one thing you do aside from music that keeps you sane? Growing up my kids. 9.14.18

We are discussing, not letting time and life just slip by. We bring back John O’Leary, the author of the NY Times bestselling book ON FIRE: The 7 Choices to Ignite a Radically Inspired Life, and host of Live Inspired Podcast – a top iTunes & Inc. Magazine, business podcast – and highly sought-after speaker. John was badly burnt on 100% of his body and should have died. Today he says if he could go back, he’d let it all happen as it did. In this show we got to talking about many of us...maybe most...being at a handicap because we HAVEN’T had a significant tragedy happen to us that keeps us from taking life and time for granted. We fall into inactivity and what John has coined “accidental living”. It’s a very convicting discussion folks. Sometimes we want to discount someone who we think had a benefit we didn’t. Well, having a gas can blow you up as a kid, JOhn feels may just be that...a benefit. The point is not to go blow yourself up. It’s to realize that you may be allowing comfort and ease to steal your glory. Which begs the question of...what to do about it. Well, listen in the the show and hear what John has to say. John is also inviting Ziglar listeners to his new LIVE INSPIRED, IN STUDIO, with John O’Leary –an online community of like-minded-friends who do life together + get inspired with John via LIVE webcast once a month. How do you invite someone into your world, your truth, your desires? When you have a complaint, how do you invite someone to the table about it in a way where they WANT to respond and help make things right? And, most importantly, how do you invite someone to be who they truly are? Today's show is all about how to "be an invitation", and whether you’re in a relationship, or single and looking to connect, the art of being an invitation can completely transform how you connect with another person. By the end of today's episode, you will have clear strategies to figure out how to improve your connection with the people in your life who matter most. Resources: Join the Relationship Alive Community on Facebook FREE Guide to Neil's Top 3 Relationship Communication Secrets (or text "RELATE" to 33444) Guide to Understanding Your Needs (and Your Partner's Needs) in Relationship (ALSO FREE) Support the podcast (or text "SUPPORT" to 33444) Amazing intro and outro music provided courtesy of The Railsplitters Transcript (more or less): Now, what does it mean to be “an invitation”? And why is it so important to the long-term success of your relationship? At its core, being an invitation is all about play. How do you encourage play in your relationship? Play is the energy that keeps things fun, and light - and can help you through a darker time in your relationship. I’m not necessarily talking about silliness - although that’s a great quality to be able to foster in your connection. “Play” is the energy of creative collaboration, and it requires you and your partner to both be as present as possible. And not only present, but also relaxed, engaged, attentive, responsive. So being an invitation is the way that you interact with another person, inviting them to “come to the party” with you - so to speak. So at its simplest level, you might ask yourself - is the way that I’m interacting with other people encouraging them to be who they are? I’m going to give you a few questions to help you figure this out. And then, after that, I’m going to give you one key that ties it all together. Without this key, you can invite all you want without actually connecting with a person. So I’ll reveal that in a moment. But first, how do you figure out if you’re inviting someone to the party with you. You can ask yourself questions like... Am I being curious about them, and their experience? Am I showing them that they are safe with me, that I’m not judging them? Am I willing to notice what’s actually going on with a person - and to validate what I’m noticing through my curiosity? In other words - what do you think is going on with a person? How and why do you think that? And then, once you notice you’re thinking it, do you check in with them to find out whether or not it’s true? Now why are all of those things so crucial? They are all about giving someone evidence that you are there, with them. And, on top of that, through being curious, you are giving your partner an opportunity to tune into themselves more deeply, to be in touch with their own experience. So as much as you’re inviting them into the dance with you, you are also inviting them into their own inner dance. What IS going on within them? And how is it a reflection of how they want to be in the world? Or are they being how they DON’T want to be? You can say things like this - “I’m noticing that you’re doing this thing with your face, and it makes me wonder if I just said something that you didn’t like?” Or - “I’m noticing that you’re taking shallow breaths...are you nervous right now? Or is something else going on?” Now these are just a couple of examples - and there’s a fine line between asking these kinds of questions in a way that feels like an invitation, and asking them in a way that feels like an interrogation. So now I’d like to give you the important key that brings it all together. Can you show up this way, while at the same time revealing something of who YOU are? Bringing your own courageous vulnerability online in these moments? The first part of being an invitation is inviting someone to the dance with you. The second part is your willingness to invite them into your world, into your experience. When someone learns what’s going on with you, and at the same time staying related to them - it’s an important component of them feeling safe with you. I’m not talking about the kind of conversation where someone tells you something and then you turn it into being about you. We’ve all been in those kinds of conversations and those, rather than making you feel safer and more connected, can leave you feeling frustrated and like you’re not being considered. So, by being open about how your experience of and with another person is affecting you, and at the same time, staying connected to their experience - that is perhaps one of the most powerful invitations that you can offer. So it might be something like this: “I’m noticing that you have this expression on your face, to me it almost looks like you’re in pain. And what I’m noticing within myself is that I’M getting really nervous, like I might have said something to offend you. Is that what just happened?” Generally the safest thing is to start with the physical - what are you actually noticing about another person? And then what are you making it mean? And then...what is your OWN experience, your own feeling? And then...check in with the other person. Do they validate your feeling? Do they reveal something about themselves that you never could have guessed? However, you could also just start with a feeling that you’re getting. Maybe you’ll be right on - or, maybe you’ll be way off. Can you present your feeling as a question, instead of as a fact? And can you reveal your own heart, so that the other person knows the impact that they are having on you? Something like “wow, when you told me that I noticed that I got this sinking feeling in my gut. Does that relate to how you’re feeling about it?” - or - “Wow, I’m just feeling so elated after hearing that. I’m so excited for you. What was it like for you to have that experience?” Then you get to see what happens next. And this is another reason why being an invitation is so important - especially if you’re single. You get to learn something about how the other person either does, or doesn’t, show up in this context. Do they want to play with you? Do they respond to your open heart with their own open-heartedness? Do they get flustered? Do they reflect before interacting, or do they just stay on autopilot? Do you get the sense that they are more THERE, more present with you? Does your interaction take on more of a quality of aliveness? Or does the other person get all triggered, and check out? And if that’s what’s happening - how do you know? What are the signs that you’re seeing? Now...what about if you’re already in a relationship with this person? Yeah, if you’re in a relationship, what do you do if your partner doesn’t immediately start to dance with you? Well, it could be that you’re really stuck in a rut, and so this can take some work to undo the patterns of the past. This is a great opportunity for you to get support, from a coach or a therapist, to get unstuck in your relationship, to have some guidance around re-patterning. And, know that if you’ve been doing it one way for awhile, it can take a little time to make the switch to a new way of being, for your partner to actually get that you’re doing something different now. After all, if you haven’t been an invitation all this time, then it might take some time for your partner to actually trust that it’s safe to fully be there, with you, at the dinner table. And that’s ok, a natural part of the process. You’re both discovering here - discovering yourselves and perhaps re-discovering each other. If you start to see how you HAVEN’T been inviting your partner, all along, then you might start by taking responsibility for your part, for all the ways that you have either overtly or covertly been encouraging your partner to NOT be who they are, to not be unguarded with you. Ways that you have perhaps punished their vulnerability. At this point in our world, there aren’t many people who have truly mastered this relationship skill. It takes practice, not only to do it, but also to UNdo all the ways that you were actively promoting the opposite kind of dynamics in your connection with your partner, or with the people around you. So don’t be hard on yourself if it’s a little awkward, or if it misfires a few times. It takes time. This is another place where getting coaching or support can be helpful, because you get to practice in an environment that’s safe for you - as well as getting to learn by example. More than anything, I encourage you to….play. Experiment. Try it out with the people who matter in your life, sure - but you can also try this out if you’re standing in line at the grocery store, or when you’re at the gym, or buying a paleo bagel at the local coffee shop. And yes, there are paleo bagels. Well, grain-free bagels anyway. The point is - this is something that you can play with wherever you are, and wherever there are other people. It’s easiest to do when you’re actually interacting with people. And whether you want support, or you want to simply let me know how your experiments are going - feel free to reach out to me via email: neilius @ neilsattin .com - I get lots of email so I can’t promise that I’ll be able to respond, but I will definitely read your email - and it’s always great to know what’s happening with you. That’s it for me, for this week. We’re still deep in the move here, sorting through boxes and boxes. I’m looking forward to seeing you next week, where you will be able to hear me get REALLY vulnerable in a conversation with Dick Schwartz, the creator of Internal Family Systems. This is our second conversation for the relationship alive podcast, and we’re going to dive even more deeply into how your inner world, and inner work, can help you show up more courageously, clearly, and compassionately in your own life. See you next week, and, until then, take care!
I dont know what to do. I dont know what to say. Have you ever said these things when someone was grieving, in a crisis or suffered a loss? Havent we all? Grief shows no mercy. It arrives unannounced and uninvited. It does not care what else you are going through and it does not care if youve had enough. Everyone grieves regardless of age, race, culture, gender, sexual orientation or economic situation; Divorce, health issues, job loss, financial stress, addictions, bullying, not making the team or getting into college and yes, facing end of life. Grief and Loss are a part of life. They cannot be avoided forever. But if we learn to take good care of ourselves and each other, we can get through it with less suffering! Its time for change. We can do better. On todays show youll learn HOW to do better as well as about a National movement: I Just Showed Up I Just Showed Up teaches people of all ages to Just Show Up for themselves and others so they are empowered and resilient when grief arrives. It can be uncomfortable. It can be awkward. We cant always fix it. What can we do? Join me as Ive invited Yvonne Heath, author of Love Your Life To Death, inspirational speaker, television host, radio guest and consultant to share wisdom from elders and teach us how to Just Show Up.

Breakdown: This week we are rocking a four man show for the first time in forever. No guests again this week! Our weeks, as they often do, consist of boring jobs, being sick, and not doing much outside of school. Gaming is more GTA V, explaining out those Final Fantasy 14 battle systems, and killing Sonic’s dreams. We cover the Steam announcements in news, but there isn’t much to say until we know more. Only one email this week, and it’s a little iffy. Nabeshin asks us what we HAVEN’T done. This podcast was brought to you by Audible!
