Donna opens the show to talk about boundaries – in love, parenting, work, you name it. It's a follow up to a segment about children and adoption. Donna's advice? Control what you can control, which includes how you react to what you can't control. Donna takes a CDL pre-test because she is bound and determined to pull a big rig up to the Ritz-Carlton. Caddy administers the test and Pod Peep Karen Thomas joins the show later to grade. Where the heck did Donna get this idea? Hint: TikTok. So apparently Dave Coulier heard "You Oughta Know" on the radio and figured out it was about…him. Apparently he called up Alanis Morissette and talked to her about it. Caddy and Donna discuss. Sorry PT. Remember growing up, it was the end of the week, and the food pantry was running low on supplies? What was the one meal that mama would be able to whip up and any time you eat it now it takes you back? Hear about Donna's. What was that meal for you? Text or call 770-464-6024. Donna and Charlotte went to the movies this weekend to see Chris Hemsworth…I mean to see the new Thor movie. Caddy didn't go, because this was one of those dine and watch movie theaters and you know how Caddy is with noises other than his own. Find out what got Donna all hot and bothered – other than Chris Hemsworth. Also, remember when pod peep Linda Leon said that she prays for Donna differently than she prays for Caddy? What was that all about? Caddy HAS to know. Linda responds. If you were refreshing your inbox all day Saturday waiting for your copy of The Letter…well, we're sorry that the people over at Revue and Twitter couldn't get their act together. Apparently their servers went down and didn't bother to tell anyone. Sorry folks. We'll be back at it this weekend better than ever. Let's talk country music and the Billboard 100 Top Country Music Albums chart. This comes after Luke Combs' ‘Growin' Up' debuts at No. 1 this week. That got us thinking…who has spent the MOST time at No. 1 all time? The answer will probably surprise you. All that and much more on today's episode of Cadillac Jack – My Second Act. Donna opens the show with both a shoutout to Olivia for her birthday this week and by reminiscing on kids getting older, not having as much time for mom, and just in general the circle that is life. It goes by in a flash and everyone should enjoy every second of it – especially with your babies. Casey Motter has been the voice of the Braves at Turner Field and now Truist Park for the last 15 years. Tragically, he passed away in his sleep last week. Caddy and Donna talk about what he meant to so many Georgians and his amazing road to the microphone. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Speaking of baseball…if you are a Braves fan, you probably caught some of Freddie Freeman's return to Atlanta and all the tears that came with it. Now we come to find out, that some of those tears may have had to do with the news that Freddie did NOT receive information from his agent on the final offer from the Braves. What?! All that and more on today's jam packed episode! Teaser: On the next episode, we are going to talk about what's going on with the aviation industry. They're paying people thousands of dollars to book different flights…who is not taking that money?! Ever been offered money by an airline to rebook? How much? Did you take it? Let us know! Joining Megan on The Georgia Politics Podcast is attorney and former public defender, Chris Sandbach, to discuss the role of public defenders in our criminal justice system and what the appointment of Kentanji Brown Jackson means for the makeup of the Supreme Court. Public defenders are attorneys who represent people who have been charged with a crime and who cannot afford to pay for private counsel. They face the possibility of time behind bars if convicted. The 6th Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees that if someone cannot afford private counsel, a judge will appoint a public defender to defend them in a court of law, for free. Chris, who spent over 6 years of his professional life as a public defender, talks with Megan about the ways in which our criminal justice system works, where it has room for improvement, and the role public defenders play in both. He also talks about the recently sworn in Justice Kentanji Brown Jackson and what her experience as a public defender brings to the court, for the first time in its existence. About Chris Sandbach Chris Sandbach has a bachelor's degree in Political Science with an emphasis on Foreign Policy and Received his J.D. from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School in 2015. After law school, Chris Spent over 6 years working as a public defender in the Atlanta area.  In 2022, he took a job with the law firm of Rickard, Drew & Nix and specializes in personal injury litigation and criminal defense. He is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the Georgia Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers. Additionally, Chris has worked as a volunteer voting rights/voter protection attorney since 2018, served as the Political Activism Director for the Young Democrats of Atlanta in 2020 and is currently serving on the board of directors for Red Clay Democrats and the Young Professionals Board for Soccer In The Streets. On today's episode of the Cadillac Jack - My Second Act podcast, we've got Taylor Swift stories. But first, Father's Day was Sunday and we kick off the show talking a little bit about what it means to different people. Some people no longer have their fathers in their lives, for whatever reason, and Donna talks about what that's like, too. She lost her dad in 1998 and for her, Father's Day is a reminder of how much she misses him and wishes she could talk to him again and get his advice. About 16 years ago, Taylor Swift came out with her debut single, entitled Tim McGraw. Caddy talks about the T-Swift he got to know back then, and the special event he put on for her when she came by the radio station. In fact, Taylor, who was home schooled and didn't have a typical high school experience, was actually given a “prom” complete with tiara, dancing and flowers. It's an event she reminds him about anytime she sees him. We also get to check in with one of our Pod Peeps, April. We always appreciate talking to all of you that support the podcast and make it possible through your loyal listenership. Thank you! What do you remember most about your prom? Any funny stories! Welcome to The Georgia Politics Podcast! This week's episode is largely focused on education issues under the Gold Dome, most notably school vouchers and anti-CRT legislation. Kicking off the show is a discussion involving a conservative national advocacy group, The American Federation for Children, who sent out mailers related to school vouchers to at least 16 Republican legislative districts. It backfired in a big way, as it definitely looks like it ended up sending the wrong message to Republican leadership and Speaker Ralston has said the issue is now dead. Next up is Anti-CRT legislation. It has now been rebranded to target “divisive concepts” and seeks to limit how race is taught in Georgia Schools. Also on the so-called Parents Bill of Rights, which passed the Senate last week and moves onto the house. Senate Bill 449's biggest impacts would be on parents' ability to review instructional materials and allow an opt-out from sex education. Joining Preston on the show today is Georgia House Representative Chuck Martin (R – 49) to discuss HB 617, a bill Rep. Martin authored that would allow athletes in Georgia to receive compensation for the use of their name, image or likeness, contingent action from Congress, the NCAA or other athletic association acts. A unanimous Supreme Court ruling in June stated that college sports organizations violate antitrust laws by limiting education benefits to their athletes and in turn has enabled Rep. Martin's bill to become law. It's a big win for students across the country who have been arguing for decades that the organization for which they are a part of profit off their athletic feats without appropriate compensation. Preston and Rep. Martin discuss the political environment around the issue, what has changed in recent years that have led us to this moment and what future actions may be in store. On the show today Hans guest hosts with Preston to discuss…elections! Yes, we JUST got done with the November 2020 elections and the January Senate runoffs in Georgia, but believe it or not the 2021 election cycle, and the upcoming cycle for 2022 elections, is already well under way. This November we will see local elections being held for city council, mayoral and county commission posts all across the state. Hans and Preston discuss what listeners should expect, how things have changed since November, trends and what candidates who are still contemplating a run of their own should be considering. Hint: do it! They also touch on where we are at in the 2022 cycle for federal offices and the presumed rematch between Governor Brian Kemp and his 2018 opponent Stacey Abrams. There are also some interesting dynamics going on that could make the Republican primary season in 2022 a lot more interesting – and competitive – under similar circumstances in previous years. On the show this week Jeffrey is joined by Craig and Megan to discuss a Georgia death row inmate who was seeking execution by firing squad, Stone Mountain's first black chairman of the board, the George Floyd trial and much more. Michael Nance was sentenced to death by a Gwinnett County jury in 2002 for fatally shooting 43-year-old Gabor Balogh when he resisted giving up his car to Nance. Nance doesn't deny his crime or argue his sentence, but claims that his veins are too narrow to attempt a lethal injection execution without excruciating pain. Instead, he requested a death by firing squad. Last week a federal appeals court in Atlanta refused to reconsider an earlier ruling that denied the request. Also on the show, the panel discuss Governor Brian Kemp's appointment of Rev. Abraham Mosley of Athens to chair the Stone Mountain Memorial Association, a state board that oversees the park and its confederate memorial. He is the first African-American to serve in the role and comes to the position during a time of increasing public protest regarding the memorial. There is a lot to cover on today’s Happy Birthday Donna podcast. If we have any listeners who are a part of the Secret Service, please call in. Donna wants to run her codename by you. The show kicks off with coverage of new country music that is in the pipeline. Tim McGraw has a very special “first” for album release parties. We get an update on Keith Urban’s new project, which will feature Pink and Breland. (Seriously, don’t touch his truck.) Donna and Caddy reflect on past celebrations as well as some ideal ones. Asking for a friend- has anyone heard from David Hester?   Caddy went out and got cards. Because he has been listening to the podcast and paying attention, each gift has an animal theme. Donna has been flooded by videos, stories and calls from listeners sharing their own reactions to the last show. On a related note Joe Exotic has been trending on Twitter. Caddy explains why and that it has to do with Susan B. Anthony. The middle segment today covers an article titled “Man punches great white shark to save wife: ‘You just react’” Donna wants to know if Caddy would do the same. Caddy thinks he would look like a seal, so he’d already be in hot water. But to answer the question, “I would quickly swim to shore.” Joe Biden is officially the Democratic nominee. The Republican National Committee will be next week. Caddy and Donna cover both, including Bernie’s effort to livestream. The show rounds up with a flood of pod peeps, a bit about Caddy’s bread factory experiences and some clarification from Donna about how to plan children. Or, how to try and plan children. Silver Fox had the show’s intro. Ray is the patriarch of Appen Media. He landed in Atlanta after a stint in Chile (yes, that Chile) working the shipping industry and then years at the Miami Herald, where he met Christina. Caddy wants her to start with swimming across the Wills Park pool. Caddy uses the segment to cover Country music’s hottest new artist with a song that ended up in the Top 10 within 24 hours of release. Then Donna talks about why she thinks Caddy is not as invested and interested as he once was. According to Caddy, he just doesn’t like animal videos. Who has been to more health centers? Caddy went a lot because they have free… candy. Donna has been back when she had… strep. They cover some of the COVID-19 considerations that the University of Georgia’s Health Center may have released to students. Some of the recommendations are inappropriate for the show to broadcast. Just, consider wearing a mask. Little Hyde loved sugar. So much so that reminiscing caused Caddy to pull a U-Turn and head up Post Road. As Donna says, if you’re not from Atlanta, “that’s out in the middle of nowhere.” It causes Dona and Caddy to jump segments and talk about the newly re-discovered Nature Valley and Sunbeam stores. Caddy took so many laps that he had to get a cart. Rolls. Buns. 4 for $5. Turns out his food pyramid is made up of sugar, cinnamon and high fructose corn syrup. The segment caps with a reminder of just how connected memories are to food. Have your kids been all up in your business? Donna thinks yes- and she literally means her business. “Like a whole new gang of coworkers.” Nowadays everyone has to get creative about how they create alone time. At the end of the day, the kids really are the heroes. That’s one reason Charlotte was a red-plater this week. WARNING: Those with mysophonia (see episode _______) may find this episode irritating. That’s because Caddy has to consistently open and chew his edibles throughout the show. Drop his name at Hemp Farmacy and pick one up for yourself. How long will this go on? When will it end? That’s what Caddy has been thinking about Donna’s new workspace. The country music hall of fame inductees have been announced. At least one of them is wildly overdue- Hank Williams Jr. That’s why the first segment touches on “Old Habits.” Speaking of past due, Phil Collins has reappeared on the iTunes Top 10. Caddy explains why. PS - who has 6 hours to learn a dance? Caddy only has 6 hours to watch them. Donna wants to know more about how artists are handling press while being at home so much. It’s a bit hard to hear because Caddy has to open and eat his edible. It’s a long story… Still, some country artists have to work through changes in their home lives. For the technically challenged, it’s a bit harder to set up these online interviews and shows. On the upside, artists can be a bit more comfortable in their own homes. That is, unless they’d rather be out in the wild. Donna mentions at least one artist who would. Luke Bryan, for instance, says that he’s never had more time to go fishing. “I’m 21 and I’ve never been kissed.” That’s the intro to the next segment. Caddy and Donna discuss six people and the big life experiences that they HAVEN’T had. Naturally that leads into a good ol’ game of Never Have I Ever. As Caddy says, the questions “start pedestrian” before “getting dirty.” On the third and final segment of the show, Donna and Caddy talk about the Atlanta Braves. As one of the few sports organizations owned by a publicly-traded company, looking at the team gives a peek behind the door of national athletics. The Braves saw a 95% drop in revenue for Q2. No players are receiving more than 37% of their contracted salaries. Wendys locations are closing. Donna points out that we’re just now starting to see the “large, long term” effects on national scale. Caddy gives his prediction for what the next few months will bring. We’re long on podcasts.

Cadillac Jack - My Second Act

Welcome to Hustle with Bill Rawl- oh, wait. Wrong one. We’re here at the Cadillac Jack: My Second Act (a semi-music music podcast) just like we are every Tuesday and Thursday. Donna went skiing last week. It wasn’t in the mountains, or even intentional. It happened while she was out walking Caddy’s favorite child (see last episode). Caddy and Donna have been obsessed with Lee Roy Parnell for a long time. So much so that they used to try and get radio shows to book him for parties. That plan never came to fruition but Bill Gentry saved the day with a Lee Roy show in Gainesville. On the next segment the show covers a few up and coming country projects. There is a lot of secrecy surrounding one of them but Caddy has a bit of insider information. On an “unrelated” note, the segment also covers a new tape from Keith Urban that is set for a September release. Do your kids drive? If so, what are your car rules? Caddy and Donna give their answers and talk about the driving aspect of parenting. Naturally that leads into a trip down Whips and Rides memory lane. Caddy used to have a sunroof and a CB whip antenna. Donna asks if his handle was “Crusty.” It’s a short segment. Donna has found a cure for her plantar fasciitis. The solution can also help with sleep, anxiety and body aches. It’s a big part of the show and we’re excited to share. Caddy gets to end the segment by saying something he’s been waiting for years to say. “Drop in, drop my name and score a free edible.” Donna and Caddy have been preparing for classes to start. Well, Donna has. Caddy actually finds out about school policies on the show today. Donna has a few ideas for how educators can help students grow in these new conditions. We get an Appy this week! Donna’s segment helps families (especially kids) budget and learn financial responsibility. In your life, you will be lucky to have three people that you can absolutely count on. For Donna and Caddy, one of those people has been Norm Schrutt, who passed away last week. The last segment today is a brief reflection of Norm and some of his impacts. Norm was President of ABC Radio and hired Caddy when he was 19. Then he gave Donna her big shot in Atlanta.  Without a doubt, the Choates wouldn’t be where they are today without him.

Welcome to Caddy Wagon with Ritch-oops, sorry! Wrong show. It’s another day in paradise with Cadillac Jack: My Second Act (a semi-music podcast). 1. School is out forever. 2. Kenny Chesney bailed. 3. The Atlanta Ballet Nutcracker is cancelled. Is nothing sacred? That’s what Donna want to know. After airing some grievances, she and Caddy spend a bit of time working through Atlanta’s event schedule and how some of the venues have shifted. Believe it or not there are a few silver linings. Do you have Chris Stapleton fatigue? Are you or someone that you love experiencing heartache after listening to today’s country lyrics? Let us know. It happens to everyone and you may be entitled to a $0 settlement. It took Chris 13 years to write Traveller, so, it’s possible that even Chris Stapleton has Chris Stapleton fatigue. Also on the grill today is Luke Combs. Incredible songwriter with a wicked sense of humor and a deceptively thick beard.  Plus a few different lingos covered on the show: stitch, skinned cats and high-backed Adirondacks. Caddy can’t play Eric Church. Eric Church (maybe) can’t spell. Donna can’t sing like Aretha. It’s been a frustrating week for the Choates. Caddy likes to be in control.  More than once, that became an issue back in the morning show days. Caddy takes a deep dive into some of the practices of Radio and arguments that he would have about taping interviews. It all comes down to what Caddy calls “the Oprah effect.” At the end of the day the verdict comes in that radio is fun and entertaining, but it also has to play by a different set of rules. What flies for TV broadcasters and legacy news organizations doesn’t always get off the ground for radio. On an unrelated note (promise) Caddy jumps in to the old days with Tug, George Straight and the great “Guess Your Wife’s Weight to Win” bit. Let’s just say that Darius Rucker did not participate. The show caps with a dangerous question- do you have a child? Let’s rephrase. Which child is your favorite? Caddy and Donna skate on thin ice for the latest segment. Warning: Caddy’s answer will not surprise anyone. Save a horse, text Caddy. 7704646024.

Cadillac Jack - My Second Act

Jody Jackson has the intro today and there is no shortage of great JJ stories. He was a promotions director for Y106 and basically started March Across Georgia. Jody went to school with Donna (along with Julia Roberts) and now every time he calls, the Choates go crazy.  He’s on another level of hard work. He lived on the road with T Graham Brown and helped Gov. Deal. Nowadays he’s running the John Jarrard Foundation with Bruce Birch, working with amazing songwriters and giving money to a lot of North Georgia charities. He’s so much fun, a very hard worker and we’re so glad to have his intro today! Donna is not getting a Peloton. Instead, she is staring at trainers and buying (more) kitty litter.  Garth Brooks called a press conference this week with country (and general) media across the country. He has announced that he is stepping away from a few Country highlights. On an unrelated note, he’s also opening a new bar. The question is: will Caddy also be removing himself from the ballot for Country’s Entertainer of the Year? Donna talks about how the award is really for those who are pushing Country music forward. The real Country vanguard. So, the jury is still out for Caddy. Donna has always wanted a water feature as part of the Choate household. Caddy has been making some calls and it looks like her wish is going to come true. Sorta. That conversation follows an update on the sprinkle debacle we heard about last show. The show takes a serious note as Caddy and Donna continue their reflection on the passing of Rep. John Lewis. Bill Gentry has the intro on today’s show. Caddy and Donna could have a whole month of episodes about Bill. He’s always been in music. He’s always been around. He has always had a certain air about him. He has always had a Wild history and we are thrilled to have him dial in today's Second Act. “I’m Donna Choate and men are babies.” With that intro, the stage is set for today’s show. Caddy and Donna are a bit traumatized from the recent surgery but not in the ways you’d expect. A lot of the early show is dedicated to Keith Urban and his new project. It’s coming out mid-September as a delayed release, just as so much music has been these past few months. Keith is framing it as a good thing; he’s been able to add a few new songs. Caddy and Donna are not so sure. Keith is one of those people who does not shy away from his challenges. Caddy and Donna have interacted with him a few different times over the years, noticing changes every time. The show covers some of the traits of addiction, meditation and openness. Caddy shares a couple stories with Keith, including one segment about Things You Don’t Know About Your Spouse. Has a guidance counselor ever broken your trust? #FakeHomeSchoolFacts has been trending on Twitter and the show has some stories from it. Turns out scheduling is not the only worry coming from this year’s school year. Can you imagine the school supplies lists? How do you play a clarinet without reeds? (Actually, just ask Will about that one…) How many attorneys appear unprofessionally on Zoom court appearances? According to one Florida circuit judge, that answer is “a lot.” We understand the “business on the top, party on the bottom” approach, but apparently some lawyers need to be reminded to wear a shirt at all. That example seems excessive, but Donna does thinks that there is just a general sloppiness and pegs the reason as everyone “living casually.” Everyone seems to be a fan, though, except the employers. Caddy and Donna have some very exciting news. They intro them on today’s show but here's a hint: new shows.

Val and Garrett gave us today’s intro. They’re industry pros and go way back with Donna. They are incredibly kind and loyal friends, which as we know is critically important. We are so proud of them and appreciative of their support over the years. Do you call Atlanta “Hotlanta?” Are you from Atlanta? That’s what we thought. Regardless of the nicknames that carpetbaggers use to describe the city, it really has been hot and humid. And because heat rises, there have been some A/C fights in the Choate house. What’s the policy when you’re a visitor in someone’s house? Open season or hands off? How many adds were there in country radio last week? Which songs? Caddy and Donna discuss as they work through some of the recently reported charts. Eventually the conversation leads to the topic of love triangles within country music. And love triangles in life. Sorry, I mean “entanglements.” You are quarantined with the first artist you saw in concert. Who is it? Caddy and Donna give their answers and cover what those situations would look like. It’s going to be a long quarantine for Caddy, based on his first artist. Donna is looking forward to hers. Time to get tantric. Turns out courthouse hopping is not as fun when you’re on the docket. Caddy learned that when he had to show up in the Milton Municipal Courthouse. He also has another scheduled appearance down in Rabun County. Let’s just hope that none of the show listeners work for Rabun County. Or are solicitors for the City of Milton. The verdict is in for Georgia’s High School sports. There are still a lot of questions about the situation, like if spectators will be allowed to attend or if there will be fight songs from the band. There are also a whole bunch of opinions that go with it.

Jodie Darden Hall intros the show today. She and Caddy went to high school together in Hickory, North Carolina. They got to reminisce about Hickory and Jodie gave Caddy an update- yes, Shells is still kicking and has a new diner. You may recognize it. Jodie has been a big supporter of Caddy’s career and we’re so thankful to have her kick off the show. Donna starts off the show with a big announcement. Actually, one of a few big announcements headed Caddy’s way. Contrary to what she said last week, Donna has learned a few things over the course of her house arrest. Speaking of learning, a big part of the show today focuses on local schools and the decisions surrounding Fall classes. From football players to band members to bus drivers to parents, everyone will be affected by those choices in the next few weeks. With some of the news this week it has felt like all of the air has been let out of the room. Donna and Caddy don’t know what the answers are. Still, it’s important to talk and acknowledge it. There are a lot of emotions roaming around and it’s important to address them. Donna’s Appy this week is like Tik Tok in the sense that you can spend hours on it. Except this app could be used to find birthday presents and involves Carole Baskin, Ice Cube and Caitlyn Jenner. It leads Caddy and Donna into a conversation about paid appearances and their approaches on how to act at them. Some radio personalities will sit under their tent and wait for fans to approach. Others will call out on the show for listeners to “come and meet me at the Papa Johns in Marietta.” Caddy has a different style. Donna has all the answers. Whether it’s interacting with the clients or the talent, she gives Caddy a few tips from her prospective. Donna thinks it’s funny to blow an air horn behind a heart attack survivor. Then she gives Caddy a quick beaver update. It’s not even in the top three for worst things done on today’s show.

Jon Brasher has today’s intro. Brasher is Donna’s wusband and taught her the mastery of deflection. He is hilarious, lives in Johns Creek with his family and is up next to have his own podcast *wink wink*. Thanks Brasher! If you’ve been listening since the beginning, you’ll know that Caddy has been having some problems with his mouth. It’s finally caught up to him. The first segment of today’s show explains where Caddy is headed and why Roscoe was the first to know. The kicker, though, is how Donna wants to leverage it into her first TikTok milly and an energy drink sponsor. Is it true that Gregg Alman broke into Capricorn studies to record a song? Donna says yes and that it’s her hype song today. Then Caddy uses his hype song to reflect on CMA Fest, Fan Fair and his birthday(s) in Nashville. Caddy and Donna break into what makes country music so special (spoiler: it’s the artists), using the example of when Garth Brooks came off of his world tour, showed up at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds (at 10am on a Tuesday) and signed autographs for 23 hours. Did you know that Caddy once hosted a successful morning show on an Atlanta radio station? He shares some stories from his time on the air, including when K****** walked in (late) for a 30-artist show with one shoe on. As Donna says, “that’s how you know you had a good night.” Caddy and Donna then move in to cover Jada Pinkett Smith’s “entanglement.” The discussion runs for a while before smoothly transitioning into why Donna can’t stand words like “entanglement.” Or “conscious uncoupling.” Who names their child Apple anyways? “Out of an abundance of caution,” just tell Donna that Hamilton is cancelled. Back when Caddy and Donna were printing money (literally, they had a money printer) they had a weekend at the Four Seasons. Things got a little hairy when they were invited up to “see another couple’s condo” and found themselves in a couple of robes. Caddy and Donna want to set the record straight: are they easy marks? Keith Connors intros the show today and it is NOT one you’ll want to miss. Connors was also on in the morning and is “an absolute hustler.” At the end of the show Caddy and Donna (particularly Donna) share some truly great stories about him to boot. It used to be that American tabloids were really aggressive but it seems like they’ve backed off. British tabs? Not so much. Johnny is not happy with the Sun and the royals. Caddy and Donna open the show by breaking down why that is. On the other hand, Donna does love a good British-American group, which is why the second segment of the show is dedicated to Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks. We’re halfway through the year if you can believe it. Caddy and Donna mark the occasion by working through the top albums, songs and artists for the year. There is only one country artist on the top physical albums of the year. That’s “go to Walmart and buy a CD” physical albums. Any guesses? You can not NOT tell  Donna Choate the truth and have her not find out. Caddy knows that and still tried to pull a fast one. Before he could pull around to the back of the Arby’s, a white Audi came up behind him. One Q-Tip later and Caddy was on his way home. Donna has been getting a lot of questions of what it was like for Caddy to get tested. Caddy talks through the process and describes his experience as a patient. Donna thinks that we are all “coming out worse than went we went in.” She’s also upset that she hasn’t learned American Sign Language or how to make a soufflé. Instead of doing a traditional yard sale, consider the Yard Sale 2.0. Caddy and Donna cover the best new way to get rid of unwanted household items. As folks spend so much time at home they’re learning things about their spouses and family members. Caddy and Donna talk about all the ways they find that to be a silver lining. And “it’s not because we think Bernie Sanders is a cute little old man.”

Trudie Daniels has the intro today. Her job is to promote quite a roster of country artists and she works incredibly hard to accomplish it. There are so many things Caddy and Donna love about Trudie, but one of the major ones is how she handles herself in the industry. We’re so thankful to have her friendship and intro on today’s show. Donna has been spending a lot of… time….on Amazon. As a result, Caddy has been spending a lot of time building and assembling. It’s possible that the trend will never end. Charlie Daniels passed away this week. Caddy and Donna spend a lot of time on the show sharing their thoughts and stories about Mr. Daniels. All in all, we’re hoping that he and Kenny Rogers are putting together a great band up there right now. Hamilton came out on Disney+. Does it hold up to the hype? Maybe. After discussing the streaming version, Donna gives a peek behind the scenes of Atlanta performing arts and touring shows in general. Hopefully out of all of this will come some incredible show writing. It seems like there were no July 4th celebrations. Anywhere. Caddy didn’t even hear a piccolo. Caddy and Donna were still able to enjoy some fireworks, just not the traditional kind. It’s important for couples to learn how to be a couple. Hear about how to reinforce those lessons and what to do if (and when) you come across some cracks. Universities around the country are deciding how they’re going to reopen. Caddy and Donna cover a great way to fill those apartments and dorms without breaking the bank. This week’s Appy segment finishes out the show, with Donna sharing her toolkit for starting the day. When you first use this week’s Appy, it’s going to feel weird and frustrating. Like anything, the app takes time. If you stick with it, you’ll be glad you did.

Charlotte Choate intro’d the show today. “Baby Char-Char” has the absolute biggest heart for everyone (and all the animals). And push-pops. It’s a quick post-fourth show today. Have you ever been to Southern Star Amphitheatre? What about the nearby Ramada nearby? Caddy and Donna have been to (and seen shows at) both. They cover what those venues looked like back then and the changes they’ve seen since. What were the “rich kid” identifiers during your childhood? For Caddy and Donna it was having a pool, microwave or shag carpets. Today it could be Lunchables. Just be careful of the radiation. During the pandemic, is it realistically possible to have a job and a child? Donna (and a lot of other people) feel like the answer has been a firm “no.” Navigating the workload of both seems impossible. At the very least, it’s a lot to handle right now and there isn’t a great answer to the problem. Walmart has decided they’re getting into the Drive-In business with Robert De Niro. Expect a three month run of open parking lots with snacks, attendants and car-delivered food. Caddy and Donna discuss the recurring theme of the Concerts may never be the same. Namely, it’s possible that they won’t have General Admission pits anymore. Caddy and Donna discuss possible changes and what it would mean for the music industry. There were some special pod peeps this week. Life is not perfect for anyone, including Caddy and Donna, and community is just so important right now. Call or text the show at 770-464-6024. Robyn and Brian have the intro today. They’ve been Caddy and Donna’s next door neighborhoods for 15+ years. Their families have grown up together and the Henrys have always been so supportive. Caddy and Donna almost went away this weekend. The reason they didn’t was NOT because Dolly isn’t clean. It’s a lot harder to get tested than you’d think. Caddy had to drive 45 minutes and then watch Gone With The Wind 3 times. Donna’s recommendation for how to navigate medical offices is a bit surprising. Adele lost a husband and then lost weight. Caddy and Donna discuss her transformation, upcoming music and misplaced jealousy. Serious question: have you ever heard of Stroker Ace? It was filmed in ’83 and is significantly cleaner than it sounds. Luke Bryan is about to go to the top of the charts with One Margarita. Caddy and Donna work through the rest of this week’s top-selling songs, which include Savage and Black Parade. On the other end of the charts, Karen and Ken take up a lot of today’s show. You’ve seen them on social media and McMansions all over America this week. Caddy and Donna cover their actions, characterizing one scene as “Ozark meets Saturday Night Live.” Dale and Patricia are guest hosts on today’s show. Huge thank you to Melanie for having the show’s intro. Melanie was one of Caddy’s first listeners back in ’94. She has become such a great friend of the family and has been a supporter since the beginning. Including at Caddy’s first wedding (where she helped limit the family fireworks). Donna and Caddy are falling apart. Physically. As a result orthopedic shoes and gum desensitizers are a-plenty. Don’t worry- all the athletes use them. The music world has seen a few shifts back towards normalcy. Luke Bryan has begun rescheduling concert dates, Eric Church is no longer scared of life and Country Radio has been playing Scotty on repeat. Plus, Caddy still finds corn, whiskey and tractors to be “pedestrian.” Caddy and Donna were able to go see Nana and Mr. Al. Their perspective is always a breath of fresh air.  The conversations had a wide variety of topics, though it seems like recovery from this situation may not be as quick as expected.  Nana and Mr. Al are excited that the Braves are back, though, so some things never change. As Mr. Al says, “the cream always rises to the top.” Caddy and Donna have a butterfly bush at the bottom of their driveway, right next to the egg frying station. Wait, what? Donna thinks Caddy should be TieDying more. Caddy thinks Donna needs to make the turn. They both agree that it’s a direct shot from other parents if your child comes home with Moon Sand. Kaitlyn Henderson intro’d the show today. Kaitlyn was an intern on the morning show back in the days with Dallas and Tug. Then she went higher and higher on the ladder and was so good at her job that Kaitlyn eventually was “poached.” Nowadays she is with 680 The Fan, about to get married and remains one of the kindest people Caddy and Donna know. Chickfila is rolling out some changes. For Donna? Travesty. Caddy? Sweet relief. There’s a busy period in the Choate household. And that time is June. In order to handle it, sometimes you have to take an assembly line approach to parenting. Other times you have to do the best you can and then get out of the way. Caddy and Donna take a deep dive into parenting and step-parenting. They cover where they went wrong and talk about all the things they did right. There really is no instruction manuel for “How to Raise Kids.” Then big news from LiveNation: (drive-in) concerts are here. You can even get out of your car. All that and a lot more on today’s show. Melissa Gibson intro'd this episode of the podcast. She and her (high school sweetheart) husband live in Milton. She has had an amazing Second Act and we're so glad to have her intro Caddy and Donna's.    Donna had a suspicious night out and ended up stroking a beaver with a stick. You read that right.  On this True Crime episode of My Second Act, there’s a break in the case of Missing Uncle Poppy. Donna’s “Let get Appy” segment leads to a long discussion about tools and tricks of the tracking trade. Caddy talks about the summer when his house was the set of Beach House. One Saturday night word got out. Cars in the backyard, 15 year olds jumping out the bathroom window (they came back the next day to fix the toilet seat). What happened when Mom showed up? Donna and Caddy talk about wake times, “sleep divorce” and what early hours look like for a morning show host.  Then... Caddy's shirt gets too tight.
