“I don't think we should be engaging in intentionally changing who we are and how we do things here. I also don't think we should be willfully static and so stuck in our ways that we forget that change is the natural function of everything all the time. I could be wrong.” - Dave Cuomo   Dave takes us on an autobiographical tour of zazen to try to figure out if ACZC has a house style (spoiler alert: yes we do!), and if so, should we (spoiler alert: does it matter?)?? Bortolomiol Bandarossa Prosecco 2019

The Bortolomiol Bandarossa Prosecco 2019 is an extra dry, DOCG designated, vintage-dated Prosecco from a family-owns winery with roots dating back to the mid-1800s.The central Prosecco region in Veneto is rated a DOC, but a section in the middle of Prosecco called Valdobbiadene is where the DOCG wines are located. The Italian wine authority ranks the various wine regions and issues designations. There are rules and regulations concerning the grapes' farming and the wine-making for each tag. Many value-priced wines are issued an IGP ranking, which has less strict regulations. Then DOC and at the top is DOCG. The G stands for guaranteed, not that you are assured that you will like the wine, but that the highest standards were met.The Bortolomiol Bandarossa Prosecco 2019 is from vineyards in Valdobbiadene, making it a DOCG wine, but it is traditionally the best Extra Dry Prosecco from each vintage. In the US, most folks like their Sparkling wine to have a Brut sweetness rating. Brut means not sweet. In Italy, Extra Dry is favored, which means the Bubbly is slightly sweet. Prosecco has enough acidity to counterbalance the natural sugar in the wine. The effect is then more fruit-forward than sugary. The Bortolomiol Bandarossa Prosecco 2019 label of wine was the winery owner's private stock. Bandarossa translates to red stripe, and these bottles were the best Prosecco of that year and were given to friends and family. Most Prosecco you see on store shelves are non-vintage. They take Prosecco made in different years and blend them to the House Style. A green deal of effort goes into developing a House Style. They want a Bubbly that you can return to year after year and be assured of the same quality and dinking experience.A vintage Bubbly does not get blended with other vintages. It is meant to showcase the finest attributes of that particular vintage. As the flagship wine of the vintage, this Bubbly gets all the finest winemaking techniques. The Bortolomiol Bandarossa Prosecco 2019 is intended to be the finest Prosecco of the vintage. Bortolomiol also has another high-end specialty vintage-dated Prosecco, but the Bandaroosa highlights the current vintage.Prosecco is Bubbly made with Industrial Age technology, while Champagne is produced with Renaissance area tech. Prosecco uses the Charmat Method, which has 2nd fermentation happening in giant pressurized vats. The pressurized vat forces the CO2 released in fermentation back into the wine, and the result is bubbles. The Bortolomiol Bandarossa Prosecco 2019 is in the tank for 3 months (a long time for Prosecco), then aged in a bottle for two more months. The alcohol content is 11.55.Bortolomiol Bandarossa Prosecco 2019 Tasting NotesThe color is very pale platinum, with a flurry of bubbles. The nose is dominated by citrus, grapefruit, lime, and lemon, along with apple, faint pear, and peach, all with a floral edge. The Bortolomiol Bandarossa Prosecco 2019 has an interesting flavor profile, tight and sleek upfront, and a little lump and juicy on the mid-palate. It tastes like a mix of green tart apple, lemon, grapefruit, and spice. The mid-pale adds dried apricot, lime dipped in sugar (but not sweet), and a late hint of peach. The acidity is excellent; it will get you to reach for another sip, but it is balanced and does not bite. The SummaryIf you are looking to go beyond grocery store Prosecco, the Bortolomiol Bandarossa Prosecco 2019 is an excellent place to start.I do not know how widely it is distributed. It may be hard to find. But other Prosecco producers have similar offerings.I think the Bortolomiol Bandarossa Prosecco 2019 can be found, where available, for around twenty bucks

Burgans Albariño 2019

The Burgans Albariño 2019 is sourced from vineyards in the Rias-Baixas DO in northwest Spain's upper corner. This White wine is made by Bodegas Martín Códax, a wine collective formed in 1986.Collectives or communes are common in Spain. Bodegas Martín Códax has 600 members, all small farmers with relatively small vineyards. One of the odd things about vineyards in the poorest soils and rocky, hilly land is often the prized location for grapevines. The farmers typically have other crops and use grapes to add income. They individually do not have the ability or know-how to create their own wines. Banding together allows them to pool their resources and compete globally in the wine industry.Burgans Albariño 2019 is imported by Eric Soloman Selections/ European Cellars. With imported wine, the import company is important. Most of the major, nationwide importers have a House Style. That does not mean the wines they feature are the same, but they often possess similar characteristics.Following the importer is a useful method of discovering new imported wines. I have a handful of importers whose wines I almost always enjoy. They have an excellent track record that matches well with my tastes. It is one of those things that you will have to find for yourselves. I can tell you which importers have wines that I like, but I can not tell you which wines you will like. Seek, and ye shall find.Albarino, I think, is an under-loved grape. Every time I drink a glass, I wonder why I do not drink it more often. I think of it along the lines of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and Riesling. Not so much in flavor, but when and where it can be enjoyed. The Burgans Albariño 2019 is sourced from 20 year old plus vines from vineyards located around a local hill named Burgans. It is fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged an additional three months on lees, stirred. As a refresher, on lees is a French wine term that indicates that the spent yeast and grape residue is left in the tank during the aging period. It can give the wine a nutty, salty characteristic. When the less are stirred, the wine can take on a creamy texture depending on how often it is stirred. The alcohol content is a mild 12.5%.Burgans Albariño 2019 Tasting NotesThe color is wheat beer yellow. The nose is a pretty blend of melon, apple, lemon, and honey, along with tangerine, peach, and a whiff of spring flowers. The Burgans Albariño 2019 sleek, silky wine, with interesting, balanced flavors. It starts with Green apple, lime, apricot, orange, and peach. The mid-palate adds pear, grapefruit, nectarine, and light spice. The acidity is plentiful but balance and stays in its lane. The SummaryThe Burgans Albariño 2019 is a delicious White wine, and it is both familiar and exotic. It has an excellent mouth-feel, which greatly adds to the drinking experience. This is a wonderful wine; I found the Burgans Albariño 2019 for $14.99, it truly drinks great. Why don't I drink Albariño more often?

Bartolomiol Ius Naturae DOCG Prosecco 2018

The Bartolomiol Ius Naturae DOCG Prosecco 2018, Ius Naturae translaties to Natural Law, is farmed in certified organic Estate vineyards in the DOCG Valdobbiadene district of the Prosecco region of Veneto in northern Italy. This is a vintage Prosecco, from the 2018 vintage, which is a bit different from the usual seemingly available everywhere non-vintage Prosecco. While a non-vintage Sparkling wine is blended from several vintages, that allows the winemaker to maintain a "House Style" that can be replicated year after year.A vintage Sparkling wine will express the growing season of a single particular year. Sparkling wine producers often produce a vintage-dated Bubbly in years where the conditions were just right in the vineyard.Bartolomiol was founded in the 1980s and has converted all their estate vineyards to organic farming. The Valdobbiadene DOCG section of Prosecco is a hilly region in the center. Grapevines love hillsides since the vines are staggered and each vine gets the same amount of sunlight. When it rains the water rolls downhill, the vines gat a drink, but water does not pool around the roots of the vines which can cause issues mold and disease. The Bartolomiol Ius Naturae DOCG Prosecco 2018 is a DOCG designated wine which indicates the vines were planted in prime growing locations and the farming the wine production adhered to strict standards. The G in DOCG translates to guaranteed. They are not guaranteeing that you will like the wine, but are attesting to the quality of the wine.I am actually pretty happy with the good old regular DOC Prosecco, it is priced right and tastes great. But I am very interested to try a Prosecco with all the bells and whistles. Organic estate vineyards, vintage-dated, and a three-month-long 2nd fermentation (typical Prosecco is in the autoclave for a few weeks or so). The alcohol content is a mild 11.5%.Bartolomiol Ius Naturae DOCG Prosecco 2018 tasting NotesThe color is gold with a hint of silver the bubbles keep coming and coming. The nose is ripe crisp apple, lemon chiffon, pear, grapefruit, and a little melon. This is a Prosecco that engages your palate, it definitely has body. This is a sleek, balanced fruit-forward Bubbly. It tastes of a blend of apple, lemon, and melon, with a streak of sharp spice. The mid-palate adds a little sweet peach, apricot, and soft tangerine. The acidity of the Bartolomiol Ius Naturae DOCG Prosecco 2018 sizzles through-out the length of the Bubbly, but does not bite, it is very well-balanced.The SummaryMy first thought after tasting the Bartolomiol Ius Naturae DOCG Prosecco 2018 is that if I had tasted the Bartolomiol as my first Prosecco it would have helped in choosing my favorite go-to value-priced Prosecco.Tasting an exquisite Prosecco first would have told me what I need to look for in a quality Prosecco. Then again it may have ruined me for value Prosecco and doomed me to pay twice the price for the vintage stuff.

Raventos I Blanc Textures de Pedra 2014

CheapWineFinder Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 23, 2020 6:44

The Raventos I Blanc Textures de Pedra 2014 is a vintage, bio-dynamic, Estate grown Sparkling wine from the Penedes district of the Catalonia region of Spain (think Barcelona). While this is a Sparkling wine produced with the traditional method (like Champagne) it is not Cava.Raventos I Blanc is part of a wine family that has been producing wine at this estate since 1497. Another member of the Raventos family produced the first Cava in 1872. The current Raventos I Blanc Estate was started in 1984, so they do have a history in this region.Originally the Estate was located in the Cava DO, DO in Spain is the equivalent to an AVA in the USA, a boundary of a grape-growing area. In 2012, Raventos left the Cava DO and started the Conca del Riu Anoia region. They left in part because they did not think the rules and regulations governing the Cava DO were strict enough.Raventos I Blanc and the Raventos I Blanc Textures de Pedra 2014 differ from the typical Cava Sparkling wine in that they are vintage-dated rather than non-vintage and specialize in the indigenous grapes of Catalonia. The blend of grapes used in this Bubbly are unique, there is 30% Xarel.lo, one of the three grape varietals traditionally used in Cava. Then 25% Xarel.lo Vermell, a rare Red grape mutation of Xarel.lo.Also 25% Sumoll, a local Red Grape, and 15% Bastard Negre, Negre is Spanish for the French Noir meaning dark or black grapes. Then 5% Parellada which is also one of three traditional Cava grapes, Macabeo is the only grape missing. The estate vineyard is biodynamically farmed which expands on organic farming to the point where farming decisions are made based on the phases of the moon. The 2014 vintage of Raventos I Blanc Textures de Pedra 2014 may have 20% of the grapes sourced from a second vineyard, there are conflicting tech notes. As a vintage Sparkling wine, the details can change from vintage to vintage.I think the 2016 vintage is the current release, but 2014 should be still available and Raventos I Blanc has other vintage-dated bottlings with different grape combinations. The Raventos I Blanc Textures de Pedra 2014 is made in the Traditional Method, the same techniques used in Champagne. In Champagne, the second fermentation must last at least 18 months, with the more expensive, exclusive brands going far beyond. With Cava, the minimum time for 2nd fermentation is 9 months with the more exclusive Bubbly going an extended time. The Raventos I Blanc Textures de Pedra 2014 is in a bottle for 42 months, the date that removed the dead yeast is 11-10-2018, each bottle is individually date stamped.Extended triage (aging) is where the magic in Sparkling wine lies. The younger "House Style" Bubbly is wonderful. But time does things to wine that no winemaking tricks can replicate. With time the flavors meld together, the bubbles are further incorporated into the wine, and the Bubbly becomes creamy and delicious. This is not an inexpensive Bubbly, a quick check of the web showed prices in the $40 to $50 range. Yes, it is in the Champagne price range, but it is well under the price of estate-grown, bio-dynamic, extended triage, and vintage-dated Champagne.Plus there are not too many wines that will feature this blend of grapes, some of these grapes are rare and unique. If you are interested in vintage, aged Bubbly the Raventos I Blanc Textures de Pedra 2014 can be considered to be a bargain. The alcohol content is 12%.Raventos I Blanc Textures de Pedra 2014 Tasting NotesThe color is golden yellow, with a flurry of fine bubbles. The nose has weight, this is not a crisp and light Bubbly, there are notes of melon, butter, yeasty bread, lemon, apple, Anjou pear, a little Nutella, and spice. This is a full-flavored Sparkling wine, the mid-palate is a full as the initial flavor. It starts with ripe, tart, apple, Meyer lemon, a touch of melon, a splash of spices, and dried pear.

The Domaine Ste Michelle NV Brut 2020 is a non-vintage Champagne-style Sparkling wine from Chateau Ste Michelle in the Columbia Valley of Washington. This is a value-priced Bubbly, it lists for $13 and I found it for $8.99 on-sale.Even though it is a reasonably priced Sparkling wine it is produced in the same production style as Champagne (Cava too) which is a rather involved winemaking technique.Sparkling wine in the ten dollar price range is often made in the Prosecco-style (Charmat Method) which is a modern and more economical way of getting bubbles into wine. With Bubbly at an affordable price, I am not overly concerned about how the bubbles got there. As long the Bubbly is an enjoyable drinking experience I am happy, but I always give a producer extra points for using the more expensive Traditional Method (Champagne). Going the extra mile and still offering an affordable Sparkling wine is commendable. The Domaine Ste Michelle NV Brut 2020 uses a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, along with possibly other varietals, the tech notes are kind of vague. The various lots of grapes of different vintages are fermented separately and then blended together before the second fermentation. One thing mentioned in the Domaine Ste Michelle NV Brut 2020 technical notes is that the first fermentation lasts for two to three weeks.Traditional Method Bubbly almost always talks about the length of its second fermentation, in Champagne the minimum time in the bottle is 18 months, with many wines going months and even years beyond that. The Domaine Ste Michelle NV Brut 2020 does not say a word about the length of 2nd fermentation. At first, I thought that was odd, but once I thought about it made a bit of sense. With Bubbly, the winemaker uses their tricks to create a "House Style" to make the Bubbly their own identifiable Bubbly during the first fermentation. With the 2nd fermentation yeast, sugar and time do their thing, you simply have to wait. It is the first fermentation where the Bubbly gets its style. This is a Brut Sparkling wine which means it is not a sweet wine. The technical notes are not fussy, for pairing they suggest popcorn, crackers, or chips. Most marketing notes for Bubbly have you drinking it at black-tie events or on a yacht. I think Domaine Ste Michelle is the more accurate pairing for most folks. The alcohol content is a relatively mild 11.5%, the Domaine Ste Michelle may be a good wine to break out when you have guests who need to drive home.Domaine Ste Michelle NV Brut 2020 Tasting NotesThe color is a wheat yellow with a hint of gold. The bubbles are plentiful and energetic. The nose is ripe apple, lemons and limes, hard citrus candy, cherry, a little spice, and just a little bit of yeasty bread. This is a tasty Bubbly, it is smooth, but has a nice edge. It starts with a mix of lemon and green apple, then a little unsweetened tart cherry. The mid-palate adds a salty sensation, grapefruit, a little guava, and stone fruit. The acidity is the way I like it, plenty enough to give the Bubbly a backbone and let the flavors have space to unfold. But also enough to stimulate your palate a getting you ready for another sip.The SummaryThe Domaine Ste Michelle NV Brut 2020 is an unpretentious Bubbly that delivers the goods. This is a very drinkable Sparkling wine, it is dry (not sweet), but it has a nectar or fruity sweetness (not sugary) to it.This is everyday Bubbles that will do just fine on NewYears Eve or an important event.

The Gerard Bertrand Crémant de Limoux Thomas Jefferson Rosé 2017 is a blend of 65% Chardonnay, 20% Chenin Blanc, and 15% Pinot Noir sourced from the Cremant de Limoux AOC section of the Languedoc in southeast France.Limoux is the birthplace of Bubbly/Sparkling wine the monks from the local Abby started making wine with bubbles in the early 1500s. They were making Bubbly a hundred years before Champagne. I read a story that may or may not be true, Dom Perignon, a monk from farther north in Champagne was coming back from a trip that took him to what is now known as eastern Spain and on the way back to Champagne stopped in Limoux. And the rest is history. The Thomas Jefferson reference on the label is from records found at his home, Monticello, showing that the only Bubbly in his wine cellar was Cremant de Limoux. Which exact Bubbly he had on hand is not known, but it was a couple of hundred years ago.The Gerard Bertrand Crémant de Limoux Thomas Jefferson Rosé 2017 is made with the Traditional Method, the same process used in Champagne. There are some differences, in Champagne the second fermentation needs to last a minimum of 18 months, while Limoux only mandates 9 months. The Gerard Bertrand Crémant de Limoux Thomas Jefferson Rosé 2017 is a vintage-dated Bubbly. Most French Bubbles on the more value end are non-vintage wines. There is nothing wrong with non-vintage Bubbly, they are used to establish a "House Style". A wine you can count on vintage after vintage.Vintage dated Bubbly while being produced with the same methods of the "House Style" Sparkling wine will be different from year to year since conditions in the vineyard vary from year to year. Sparkling wine producers often only produce vintage date Bubbly in yeas where the conditioned in the vineyard will yield special wine. While this Bubbly does not have a history that dates back to the 1500s or Tom Jefferson, it is produced from vineyards in the same locations and with production methods pioneered in Limoux. In Champagne, they call the Traditional Method the Champagne Method. That is a little misleading, they did not invent the style, but they did perfect it.This is a Brut Rose' meaning a not sweet Bubbly and the pink color comes from the 15% Pinot Noir grapes. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes are used extensively in Champagne and Chenin Blanc Bubbly is a personal favorite of mine. The alcohol content is 12.5%.Gerard Bertrand Crémant de Limoux Thomas Jefferson Rosé 2017 Tasting NotesThe color is slightly orange in the bottle, but in the glass is pink with an apricot tint, there are tiny, very fine bubbles. The nose is citrus, melon, green apple, light spice, crusty bread, and dried strawberry pieces. The Gerard Bertrand Crémant de Limoux Thomas Jefferson Rosé 2017 has a firm mouthfeel with nice chewy acidity. It starts with tart lemon, grapefruit, cherry, that salty/nutty "on lees" sensation, and a touch of mineralogy. The mid-palate adds a hint of cream, soft raspberry, and yeasty bread. The acidity will have you reaching for another sip before you know it, this is a glass of Bubbles that you will finish sooner than expected, so but accordingly. The SummaryThe Gerard Bertrand Crémant de Limoux Thomas Jefferson Rosé 2017 is a very satisfying glass of Bubbly. The one thing you need to remember about French Sparkling wine is that people only spend big bucks on Champagne. It does not matter how good the Bubbly from any other French wine is, if it is not priced affordably it is not going to sell. While that is bad news for winemakers in any place other than Champagne, it is good news for wine drinkers because there are bargains to be found. If you are looking for tasty, classy Bubbly (should be found for $15 to $20, watch for Holiday sales) the Gerard Bertrand Crémant de Limoux Thomas Jefferson Rosé 2017 will get the job done with style.

Gruet Blanc de Noirs

The Story of New Mexico BubblyThe Gruet Blanc de Noirs is a non-vintage blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay sourced from vineyards in New Mexico along with grapes from, I believe, California and Washington. The term "Blanc de Noirs" translates to White from Black, yes, I know, White wine grapes are usually green and Red wine grapes are purple or red in most cases, but for some reason the French use terms that are color blind.Gilbert Gruet started farming a vineyard in Champagne in the 1950s and the 1960s founded his Champagne winery near the village of Bethon in Champagne, France. He heard from other French winemakers about a promising, off the beaten path grape growing region in New Mexico. He decided to check it out and in the 1980s started a vineyard and by 1989 was selling New Mexico Bubbly based on the Sparkling wines from Champagne. In 2010, the Gruet Blanc de Noirs was named to Wine Spectators Top 100 Wines list, not bad for a Bubbly selling for less than $15.The Gruet Blanc de Noirs is produced with the Traditional or Champagne Method of production. Here the grapes are fermented the first time, the 1st fermentation is where all the secret House Style techniques take place. After fermentation, the wine is bottled, but before a temporary top is attached a measured amount of yeast and sugar is added to every bottle. The 2nd fermentation then takes place inside the bottle, the yeast and sugar do their job in about 30 days, but the dead yeast and residue stay in the bottle for a minimum of 18 months. During that time the CO2 that was released as a result of the 2nd fermentation incorporates into the body of the wine. After 18 months or so, the dead yeast and gunk are removed from each bottle and the bottle is topped off with a little bit of wine and maybe some sugar to reach the intended sweetness level, such as Brut or Extra Dry. Just like they do it in Champagne only this time it's occurring in New Mexico. The alcohol content is 12%.The Tasting NotesThe color is pale gold with a hint of pink, along with a flurry of pretty little bubbles. The nose is crisp and clean, toasty vanilla, pear, grapefruit, green apple, and black cherry. This is an elegant Bubbly, well-balanced with tantalizing hints of flavor. It tastes of cherry and vanilla, peach and pear, tart grapefruit, and raspberry. The mid-palate shows that salty, nutty thing that 18 months of "on lees" provides, ripe McIntosh apple, and a flash of tangerine. The flavors are all subtle, they float in and out. The acidity is sneaky, it will get you reaching for another sip. The finish is soft and long. The Summary * I have to admit my favorite Bubbly is the Pinot Noir based stuff, Blanc de Noirs, of course, I'm perfectly happy sipping the Chardonnay-based stuff as well. So, I am predispositioned to dig the Gruet Blanc de Noirs. * We last reviewed this Bubbly in 2010 and while the price has risen in the last 9 years my enthusiasm seems to have remained. * This is an excellent Sparkling wine/Bubbly. It is not merely good for the price. * I have sampled the next level up Gruet Bubbly (around $25 to $30) when compared directly with Champagne Bubbly 2 or 3 times the price and in my mind, the Gruet won. * When making your Bubbly purchase for the upcoming holidays let flavor and texture be your guide, not just price tag. Inexpensive Bubbly can give the entry-level Champagne Bubbles a run for their money. For additional information check out the companion podcast below

Kirkland Asolo Prosecco DOCG

The StoryThe Kirkland Asolo Prosecco DOCG Extra Dry is a $6.99 Costco import exclusive sourced from grapes farmed around the town of Asolo in the center of the Prosecco region in Veneto, Italy. In California, the wine grape growing regions comprise of unique territories known as AVA's, such as Paso Robles, Sonoma, Dry Creek, etc., these boundaries are all location-based there are no government mandates on which grapes can be grown, how they are to be farmed, and how the wine is produced. In Italy, the government uses DOC and DOCG to designate territories, but also provide strict regulations on many aspects of the grape growing and winemaking, with the DOCG (G stands for guaranteed) being the strictest level. These rules and regulations are put in place to ensure quality or with DOCG guarantee quality. That does not mean that a DOCG wine will taste better than a DOC wine, that is up to the winemaker and your personal preferences. But to my way of thinking the actual quality levels are up to the individual wineries because it is possible to make top-quality wine in all Italian levels of wine, DOCG, DOC, IGT, and table wine. Most of the Prosecco region is designated as DOC, there is a very hilly section in the middle of the area that is deemed to be the absolute best place for growing the Glera grape, in the case of the Kirkland bubbles in the hills around the town of Asolo. This hilly section is rated as DOCG. Now, here is a bit about how Prosecco is made, first most Prosecco in the value price range is non-vintage, meaning that several vintages are blended together to maintain a recognizable "House Style", which is very important for Prosecco brands to create an identity. The Glera grapes (the exclusive grape of Prosecco) are kind of an empty canvas, you almost never see a Glera still wine (non-Bubbly) because it does not make a particularly interesting still wine. The Glera grapes are fermented the 1st time, each Prosecco House has its own winemaking tricks at this stage and when they decide the wine is ready it is transferred to huge pressurized tanks. These tanks are large autoclaves and are basically huge versions of the autoclaves used to sterilize surgical equipment and tattoo needles. Sugar and yeast are added to the vats and a 2nd fermentation begins. CO2 is released as a by-product of fermentation, but since the sealed vat is under pressure the CO2 has nowhere to go but back into the wine. This second fermentation can last a few weeks or a few months, the longer time allows the CO2 to better acclimate itself to the wine and become fine Bubbly. The alcohol content with the Kirkland Prosecco is 11%.The Tasting NotesThe color is a platinum yellow with a decent supply of tiny bubbles. The nose is lemon, green apple, melon, and grapefruit, with a hint of ripe juicy peach and a floral edge. This Prosecco has balanced flavors, solid acidity, and a nice dash of minerality. It starts with tart lemon, peach, Bosc pear, and melon. The mid-palate offers a juicy apple, a salty sensation, and not sweet lemon hard candy. The acidity is very persistent, it is not quite a lip-smacking acidity, but it is part of the flavor profile. The finish is strong and long. The Summary * This is an extremely solid Prosecco at an amazing price, $6.99. * There are only so many Prosecco producers from the Asolo region, with a little bit of sleuthing you can probably figure out who made it, but I would imagine all the producers from this area are first rate. * Keep the Kirkland Prosecco in mind for the Holiday party season, it is a steal at less than $7. * This is an extra-dry Bubbly which means slightly sweet, but remember solid acidity balances the sweetness, so the sensation is more nectar sweet than sugar sweet.

Villa Sandi il Fresco Brut Prosecco

CheapWineFinder Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 25, 2019 7:42

The Villa Sandi ilFresco Brut Prosecco is a DOC classified non-vintage Bubbly, 85% Glera, 15% Chardonnay & Pinot Blanc sourced from the Treviso region of Veneto (Venice) in Northeast Italy. Villa Sandi has been a wine estate since 1622, though Prosecco, as we know it today, has only been around for a little over 100 years. The il Fresco in the name translates to "fresh" and that refers to their production technique of refrigerating the crushed juice until it is needed. Then they ferment the juice a first time and then transfer the wine to a huge autoclave (a pressurized tank, it keeps the CO2 gasses released during fermentation from escaping) to ferment the wine a 2nd time (this is where the bubbles are formed), this method is called the Charmat Method. The wine is fermented in the autoclave (a much larger version of the machine that sterilized surgical and tattoo equipment) for 2 months "on lees". On lees indicated the dead yeast is left in the tank with the juice, it will add flavor and structure. By waiting to produce the Bubbly until needed for sale, it is always fresh and lively. As a non-vintage wine, the Villa Sandi Brut Prosecco is blended each year with juice from earlier vintages to insure the final outcome always reflects the "house style". With Sparkling wine, all the producers (in Prosecco and Champagne) use the same grapes, from the same general local, and use the same production methods. The important differences come from the small details, in the vineyard and during the wine production that allows the Bubbly to have its own unique personality. The alcohol content is 11%. The color is a mix of gold and platinum, with loads of highly energetic bubbles. The nose is crisp and clean, slightly yeasty, with aromas of lemons, limes, apples, pear, and a soft floral edge. This is a soft, rounded Bubbly, with an excellent dose of acidity. It starts with crisp Green apple, Meyer lemon, not too tart grapefruit, the "on lees" adds a salty nutty sensation. The mid-palate adds fresh lime and not sweet peach. The flavors are all well-balanced and the acidity will activate your palate. You will find yourself reaching for another sip without actively thinking about. The finish is crisp, clean and fairly lengthy. Summary * Second fermentation lasted 2 months, which is a solid length of time for an entry-level Italian Sparkling wine. The longer the time the better the integration of the bubbles. * The addition of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc adds contrast to the usual Glera grape Prosecco flavor profile * The House Style, with all Bubbly, is a very important consideration. I used to buy which ever Prosecco was on sale. I think it is time to start thinking about the Prosecco that is "right" for me. The difference between the price of the "sale" Prosecco and what will be my favorite Prosecco isn't that large. So buy your favorite.

ENGLISH VERSION ------------------------------ At the age of 14 the Doubljuh started to experiment with his first DJ setup until mixing music with vinyl became his second nature. His first attempts were characterized by Chicago House (Bad Boy Bill, Richard Humpty vission), Ghetto House/Booty House (Dj Funk, Dj Deeon) and especially Funky Disco House (Boogie Pimps, Armand van Helden, Bob Sinclar, Olav Basoski). Early on a varied House style with groovy melodies and catchy vocals arose. He impressed his audience first as a newcomer of the Tectrex Crew and performed as Resident DJ in the show „Rookie Freaks“ via the Tectrex Webstream. His opinion about electronic music fundamentally changed in summer 2013 after his visits to legendary festivals such as Fusion and Kazantip, which included a short performance. He got to know and love melodic Deep House, which strongly shaped his music style since that time. Now the familiar groovy House beats take turns with soft parts and enchant the audience with frisky melodies of the violin and the piano. This results in fresh sounds, which are still highly characterized by catchy vocals. @doubljuh @deep_storys https://www.facebook.com/doubljuh/ https://www.facebook.com/deepstorys/ Download for free on The Artist Union

331.. You Bitch.. I Found You.. (memo journal May 21st, 2015 6:22:26pm) ..Record 331.. let’s me speechless.. probably because there are to many reasons to name it “Serendipity”.. Getting overloaded by the number of factors that link this edition to something so phenomenal that I will have a hard time to digest.. but from the all thing here since.. I can say I was looking for something like this.. still not sure for the Spectrum Character.. but that’s my opinion.. Comparing this to an Opportunity.. it would be a simple spark of Serendipity.. the moral reasons, real facts, artwork selection, frequency type, active condition, mix mood, attitude, music style & gender, aspects, determination, coincidence, situation, state of mind.. if we go deeper we find the path to the serendipity all over the blogs, social circles, family, friends, fan base..  life status & generation timing.. the number of things are are concerned to offer this moment so called phenomenal is something from indescribable.. every were my toughs go or i look somewhere or speak to someone.. this pops.. Serendipity.. of-course this is relative to what aspect we admire.. this one here.. #331.. is from far coinciding with many layers to be a lie.. If you get really involved with Icemoon Season 4 (Live Records #231-#331) and have some time to visit the history of my Journal.. you are going to have fun.. this is something for you.. I can love all my editions for different reasons each of them.. this is pure Artwork for Your consideration of EDM (Electronic Music Dance) of this generation.. Started on House Style trough Electro to Dubstep in to TrapMusic.. even DnB or even more versatile like.. Rap or HipHop.. and somewhere was Icestep mentioned.. It’s a nice generation musical trip I am having.. .. I must say.. something is really tendency on this sample of TrapMusic as I see or feel it.. #320 to #331 are the metamorphism in to a new Style, Gender or Attitude Tendency.. and something is not letting me completely in.. this Spectrum.. it sounds empty to me between this Highertz and the Dirty Bassline.. look like a skinny bitch to me… it should be something there to grab on it when we want to.. ..let’s see what we gonna discover with coming  up Season 5.. “If there are to many aspects linking you to nuance.. You only lie to Yourself if you want to.. The first intuition is the right one..” “Well it’s were I converge myself in to trust only me..” Playlist: A - Trak feat.
