Finding time to play: What's the process you use to get into playing time, when time is a challenge?   Some tips:    Read rule books to games you haven't played in a while or brand new games. Starting rituals around learning the games you want to play will help with not only your ability to play them, but also increase the desire to. Familiarity DOES in fact breed comfort. I also suggest for this particular strategy spend SOME of the time actually reading your rule book. Boardgames are tactile things and ownership of them is intimate. When you can open YOUR box and pull out YOUR rulebook. I know videos are more convenient, but part of the goal here is get you INTO the games, NOT into any idea of playing boardgames, OR spending more screen time! So try and work on a pattern of behavior that supports this.   Set up the games when you can, if not to learn then just go through some of the components as you do number one! Read the rulebook at the pieces if you can move them around on the board and go loosely through a turn. Again , not only does this help you to learn the game, but also to get you prepared to teach, and to get you in the mind set of playing, which gets you closer.   Revisit games in your collection that you already know, and perhaps have not played in a while. Again this is an easy way to foster your desire to play games. The familiarity with a title you know will help with set up and tear down, and who knows looking at that rule book again with no pressure of a game MAY just reveal something you have been missing OR give you ideas about your next session of the game live!    Pick up some online content for a favorite game. This can be downloading player aids to one of the new hotness titles, or some rules compendiums all the way up to more scenarios, characters, content what have you. This is something new for a game you already own, that may help be that push to get you back inside the box, which is the goal! Also this one dovetails nicely into the last point. Play some solo games, if you do not have any you can find many good ones online, of course BGG and other repositories of Print and Play games are your friends here. And this one leads nicely into Buy a game with the express intent of playing it no matter if you have other players or not. So I should say acquire a game. Print and Plays are a fantastic way to REALLY get your blood pumping as you assemble the game before you play it, and then have a working game from your own hands to now sit and play. Larry Full List: 10. 2017- Azul : This title is one of a wave this year of tactile games, a trend that continues to this day; titles like Sagrada, and Photosynthesis also made appearances this year. 09. 2010 – Space Hulk Death Angel: This game is notable for its POD support from FF, they have gone on to release, a full POD type adventure game, and this helped pave the way for Keyforge. 08. 2019 – Wingspan: As we are still in the year it's a little more empirical to understand the influence this years game has, so far this one has been on the lips and in the lenses of nearly everyone, and with a rating in the top 35 overall on BGG, nearly all of its publishing class are in the 3 to 4 to five digit range, that is a considerable influence to move the needle so completely. 07. 2016 - Escape Room: The Game: The first in a trend of art imitating life, with other lines and many boxes this is a trend that is still going strong, and now spans the last 4 years of the decade. 06. 2015 - Codenames: Arguably one of the main pillars of titles to help push into the casual gamer to hobby gamer real since its introduction in 2015. 2018 – That's So Clever: This is really representative of the genre’ Roll and Writes have exploded onto the scene and are promising and delivering, largely, on new play experiences to the hobby world, with no sign of slowing down. 04. 2014 - Marvel Dice Masters: Nearly as much for what it did wrong as anything, this one changed the production scale of Dice within the industry in 2014, and who can forget the shortage of product, despite that it has gone on to this day and still enjoys decent sales. 03. 2013 – Viticulture: Lavish production, Stonemaier production with game-play married closely to physical production. They have raised what is expected and showed the industry what is possible in marrying Form and Function at a whole new level. 02. 2011 – Risk Legacy: First of the Legacy titles, lead to many more. 01. 2012 – Love Letter: Micro game. Capitol Ave., Indianapolis, IN   Aug. 2-4: Comic Con Honolulu – Honolulu, HI Location: Hawaii Convention Center, 1801 Kalakaua Ave, Honolulu, HI 96815    Aug. 16-18: Coulee Con – La Crosse, WI Location: La Crosse Center, 300 Harborview Plaza, La Crosse, WI 54601, USA Coulee Con is a tabletop gaming convention held in La Crosse, WI. We interpret gaming broadly as including board games, collectible card games, role playing games, miniatures, live action role playing, video games, and puzzles. Our motto is: Bringing Gamers Together. We aim to celebrate and connect the gaming community. Friday and Saturday feature tournaments, open gaming, and special events. Sunday has an added focus on families with reduced admission and family-focused games.    Aug. 24-25: Tabletop Scotland – Perth, Scotland Location: Dewars Centre, Perth, Scotland. 2 day board, card & RPG convention. 2018 was our first year and we had 27 different exhibitors (4 retailers with the rest being publishers and crafters who make tabletop related items). We expect that to increase to over 40 in 2019. We had 14 tables of RPGs running in 5 slots over the weekend. We expect that to increase to 20 in 2019. We have 500 seats for open play / demos of board games. We are planning to increase that to 1, 000 in 2019. We hosted a 3 seminars in 2018 on accessibility, game design and a panel show. We're aiming to have a lot more in 2019 including topics like RPG design, world design, art (including a showing of Eye Of The Beholder : D&D Art movie) and more.  Design Lab - We speak about the mechanics of game design and tackle some common issues at a really deep level.
