"When We Rise" Over the course of her career, the New York born Jess Klein has put out nearly fifteen perfect albums. From her Rykodisc debut Draw Them Near in 2000 to other winning entries like 2006's City Garden and 2014's Learning Faith, Klein has demonstrated she's a singer/songwriter of tremendous strength and heart. Blessed with a natural penchant to write hook-filled songs with burning emotional center and big scruffy hearts, her new album When We Rise is another winning entry in her brilliant discography. Redolent with hope, resolve and stability in a world that doesn't stop shaking, When We Rise is a rousing call to arms--from the defiant "You're Never Gonna Break Me" to the stirring "Safe Harbor," this album is a blast of sonic comfort that's fiery, affecting and reviving. www.jessklein.com www.bombshellradio.com www.stereoembersmagazine.com www.embersarts.com www.alexgreenbooks.com Stereo Embers Twitter: @emberseditor IG: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com

It's Juliana Finch and Jess Klein! Jess Klein is an incredible songwriter-singer-performer, who has toured the world with her unbelievable music. She's been in the game long enough to know that creative cycles are normal and natural, and she approaches her process with a kind of ease that can inspire us all. Jess just finished producing an album that's coming out in the fall titled In the Arms of a Song. Do what you can to find Jess Klein and listen and have a good cry. In the meantime, enjoy this episode. https://jessklein.com/home (Jess Klein Website) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/msjessklein/ (@msjessklein) BIO: Over a career that spans two decades and has won her a devoted worldwide fan base, Jess Klein—who possesses what Mojo magazine calls “one of those voices you want to crawl up close to the speakers to listen to” has pursued a remarkable creative evolution that's seen her dig ever deeper for resonant emotional insights, while continuing to refine her eloquently melodic, effortlessly accessible songcraft. The Rochester, NY native began writing songs as a college student in Kingston, Jamaica. Jess spent eight years soaking up the live music culture of Austin, TX. Bootleg (2015) Jess's live, full band album captures the dynamism of Jess onstage, backed by some of Austin's top players. Jess was named a 2015 Finalist in the highly regarded Kerrville New Folk Competition. In 2016, Jess and her husband, songwriter Mike June moved to tiny but vibrant Hillsborough, North Carolina where she recorded 2019's Back to My Green. Klein has performed to rapt audiences at the Newport Folk Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Fuji Rock Festival in Japanand packed houses in notable listening rooms like Joe's Pub, NYC, The Borderline in London, Club Passim in Boston and Fogartyville in Sarasota, FL. She has appeared on Good Morning America and NPR's All Things Consideredand toured across the US, Europe and Japan on her own and with such artists as Arlo Guthrie, John Fullbright and Carlene Carter. What’s better than an entrepreneurial success story?... two entrepreneurial success stories! BFFs Dani and Jess both started their own wildly successful companies whilst students and working other jobs. Dani launched Inked by Dani, a temporary tattoo company, from her Senior year dorm room. Her hand drawn creations quickly amassed a celeb following and became a mainstay at the hippest retailers. Jess launched her fine jewelry line, Bondeye Jewelry on Goop after reaching out to Gwyneth Paltrow directly. Bondeye was born out of inspiration from her time in Australia and the fact that Jess felt there to be a lack of fine jewelry available that spoke to her kooky style and personality. Now they have come together for a collaboration that they manifested into existence! They combined their talents to bring Dani’s hand drawn designs into fine jewelry pieces, each which comes with a matching tattoo. These two young women are ones to watch; infectious energy, a hustle factor like no other and the knowledge that women supporting women is the way to live your Caviar Dreams!
Recorded on October 9th, 2019 If you like songwriting, Jess Klein knows a thing or two about it. She has released 9 different albums in her two decade career and her newest release came out in February “Back to My Green”. We wish we could spend an entire day listening to her word craft and singing, but alas we only have time for 3 songs. Today she will be playing “Wide Open”, “Fool”, and “Little White Dove” We will be playing “Painting My Masterpiece” and “What Do I Know?” If you enjoy our show/music, please consider helping financially at www.patreon.com/NevillesQuarter Hosted by Lex Headley and Brian Moyer.
Singer/Songwriter Jess Klein always had a love for the arts and creativity, but she didn't know music would be her focus. This week she joins the show to talk about her unplanned journey into a career in music and how a series of decisions and encounters with people at a Hamilton College shaped her career.

Fellow creatives and anxiety sufferers Jocelyn Rent and Jess Klein graciously agree to swap stories about how our stress and anxiety manifest in our lives -- and how we cope. Shit gets pretty real but we manage a few laughs, too.
Jess Klein and Monica Rae bring their very different fields of expertise and personal backgrounds to a discussion about sex. It gets pretty personal and very graphic, so don't listen to this one with the kiddos around!
Lots of new & live stuff today, along with some classics and some news.

It’s the busy season for shows, and we keep doing our best to keep you informed & ready with more previews, and Ron from Lockport challenges us to find a better "Wrecking Ball" than ol’ Hannah Montana; he didn’t know what he was getting into.
Last week was quite a week indeed, with Jon Dee Graham & Mike June stopping in town. While they were here, they were kind enough to drop by UMFM for a chat and some live songs, so we’ve got those for you today. As if that weren’t enough, we’ve got more new music and more upcoming shows!
