We present our conclusion to Black History Month with actor focus; this time we celebrate the career of Samuel L. Jackson! We're looking 3 of his starring vehicles Snakes on a Plane, then The Great White Hype and finally Soul Men, also starring the late, great Bernie Mac!Samuel L. Jackson is one of the most iconic, prolific, and versatile actors in modern cinematic history. With a career spanning over five decades, Jackson has appeared in more than 150 films, cementing his status as a cultural icon and a box office powerhouse. His breakthrough role came in Spike Lee's Jungle Fever (1991), but it was his unforgettable performance as Jules Winnfield in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction (1994) that propelled him to global stardom. That role earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor and introduced audiences to his signature blend of charisma, intensity, and humor — all delivered with that unmistakable commanding voice.Throughout his career, Jackson has balanced blockbuster success with critically acclaimed performances. He's a staple in Tarantino's films, appearing in Jackie Brown, Django Unchained, and The Hateful Eight, showcasing his ability to deliver complex, morally ambiguous characters with unmatched flair. His work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Nick Fury has made him a cornerstone of one of the most successful film franchises in history, introducing him to a new generation of fans.Despite his widespread popularity, Samuel L. Jackson's awards recognition has often lagged behind his cultural impact. In addition to his Oscar nomination for Pulp Fiction, Jackson has received numerous honors, including a BAFTA Award, Golden Globe nominations, and an Honorary Academy Award in 2022, recognizing his lifetime achievements and contributions to cinema.Jackson's legacy is defined not only by his memorable performances but also by his ability to elevate even the most minor roles into something unforgettable. Whether in gritty dramas, high-octane action films, or sharp comedies, his presence demands attention, often turning supporting parts into scene-stealing moments. Beyond acting, Jackson's influence extends to his advocacy for diversity in Hollywood, his mentorship of younger actors, and his efforts to champion independent filmmakers. With a career that seamlessly spans indie gems, blockbusters, and prestige films, Samuel L. Jackson stands as a living legend whose legacy is defined by his versatility, consistency, and undeniable cultural presence — a true icon whose impact will resonate for generations to come.Snakes on a Plane is a 2006 American action thriller[3] film directed by David R. Ellis and starring Samuel L. Jackson. It was released by New Line Cinema on August 18, 2006, in North America and the UK. It stars Samuel L. Jackson, Peter Berg, Damon Wayans, Jeff Goldblum, Jon Lovitz, Cheech Marin, John Rhys-Davies, Salli Richardson and Jamie Foxx. The film satirizes racial preferences in boxing, and was inspired by Larry Holmes's 1982 fight with Gerry Cooney (who was known as "The Great White Hope") and Mike Tyson's 1995 return fight vs. Peter McNeeley. Entertainment Weekly called Rev. Fred Sultan (Samuel L. Jackson) a "Don King-clone."Soul Men is a 2008 American musical comedy film directed by Malcolm D. Lee, and starring Samuel L. Jackson, Bernie Mac, Sharon Leal and Sean Hayes, released on November 7, 2008. It was one of three Mac's films that were released after his death (and was actually released on the same date as another posthumous film, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa).Mac and Isaac Hayes died on August 9 and 10, 2008, respectively. Director Lee said the film was heavily re-edited to soften the tone of the film, as a tribute to the two actors.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

After over a year since theatres shut down across the UK and around the world, the Royal Court Theatre has been leading a charge in the grand reopening of London theatres. One of it's most exciting productions is a new play by Obie and Olivier Award recipient Caryl Churchill. John Heffernan is one of the stars of her new play What If If Only'and very kindly sat down with us to discuss the eagerly anticipated new work by Churchill and what the rehearsal process has been like amidst ongoing restrictions after some time away from the stage. Heffernan most recently starred in acclaimed BBC drama The Pursuit of Love and has also played key roles in Brexit: The Uncivil War, The Crown and films: Official Secrets and Misbehaviour. A certainly increasingly familiar face for his work on screen and on stage, critics and audiences alike have praised John Heffernan's detailed acting and in this interview, we also see a hardworking and enthusiastically charming individual.John Heffernan previously starred in Caryl Churchill's Love and Information at the Royal Court Theatre alongside fellow co-star of What If If Only actress Linda Bassett. It seems like a grand reunion with Caryl Churchill also present in the rehearsal room as they guided under the careful direction of Love and Information director James Macdonald. Heffernan reminisces about his early visits to the Royal Court as a keen-eyed student and how he first fell in love with Churchill's work in this candid interview. We get to find out what it's been like working with some of his heroes as well as his hopes for the theatre industry as we move out of the COVID-19 pandemic. It's a truly fascinating interview and we wish the company well as they open on Friday 1st October.Tickets on sale NOW: https://royalcourttheatre.com/whats-on/whatififonly/

On Episode 366 of The Harold & Maudecast, Sarah and Jake review and dissect the BBC/Netflix original mini series, Dracula. Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat (Sherlock)created the series based on the 1897 Bram Stoker book. The series stars Claes Bang (The Square) as Dracula, Dolly Wells (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) as Sister Agatha Van Helsing and John Heffernan as Jonathan Harker (Eye in the Sky). Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania to meet his firm's client, Count Dracula, to finalize the purchase of a house in London. Harker quickly finds himself trapped in a terrifying maze-like castle of undead and a blood thirsty vampire whose ambition is to conquer the world. Gatiss and Moffat's new take on the tale begins in Victorian Transylvania and ends with a big twist in a more modern setting--if you're fans of Sherlock, it won't be that unexpected. Many of the characters from the book are reimagined like Sister Agatha...Van Helsing (Wells) who is fantastic as Sherlock to Dracula's Moriarity. We discuss in full -- there will be SPOILERS. John is a long time friend of mine, going back to our school days in Limerick. It is very fitting that he should be here for the last episode of 2015 as he has been one of my main supporters through this first year of BlackoutatSunrise, always offering huge support, encouragement and suggestions with, and after, each episode. He is a long time advocate of fitness and physical health and has participated in numerous amounts of fitness and physical activities through the years. This love of fitness and training led to him deviating from his career in archaeology and Conservation architecture and to the setting up of his personal training business, aptly named Warcry Training. It is hugely obvious when listening to John that he is immensely passionate and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to fitness. It is an intrinsic part of his life and goes beyond a physical need to be strong. It is part of his life philosophy. He is already establishing himself as a staple in the Cork Fitness scene with a client list that is steadily growing, the most recent being a Cork GAA Senior Football Club team for which he will provide pre season strength and mobility training. The future is bright for this man.WARCRY LIFE!!!
