We are delighted to welcome Berlin based Cecelia Tosh (@cecilia_berlin), German/Mozambican artist and entrepreneur. She is Co-Founder of the agency CURA Berlin. Cecilia is co-curator of “New Faces” at Tresor Berlin and is known for her multifaceted journeys at Berghain or HÖR. Her sets have a constant groove, are deep, trippy and yet very colorful. She can be seen at various festival stages this Summer and her first Canada tour is coming up in September. Cecilia initiated and curated the exhibition and album Kotti Island Disc (Released on Tresor Records in May 23). We've got some fresh new music from Fuinneamh Festival founder Lucas. The revered producer is known for his powerful and deep cuts, finding inspiration in dub chords, deep pads and textured atmospheres. His track ‘Cosmic Background' is an atmospheric trip through wandering chords and deep soundscapes. Luke Reddy aka ‘LUCAS has been producing electronic music and DJing since 2011. Luke's early years as an artist were not your run of the mill, first cutting his teeth performing at his own events which took place in the forest, open air events and raves, deep in the Wicklow mountains, these legendary parties became known as the ‘Keep Her Lit' series. Lucas disappeared somewhat off the DJ radar in 2015, when his ambitious plans for Fuinneamh Festival year one began, but with DJ sets in the summer of 2019 at EP, Body & Soul and at Fuinneamh we saw Lucas make a resurgence into the Irish DJ scene once again. Lucas founded a new record label ‘Ogma' in 2021 and it started with a E.P. with himself and Snakebite 616 the release received huge international and local support from the likes of Freddy K, Ed Davenport aka Inland, Elad Magdasi, Cici, Cailín, Mylo Spykers, Jon Hester, Taint, Aeron, Diarmaid O'Meara and more. The label will return for it's second release this summer. Lucas has provided a deep and driving techno masterpiece. This reminds me of some classic ‘Function' releases, but has Lucas's own spin on it. A big pounding kick plays of deep and whirling atmosphere, as drifting chords provide an entrancing kind of melody. This is a proper techno. For our first premiere of the week, we present a track from one of Ireland's leading and hardest working producers, Doug Cooney. The RLSD boss man is no stranger to knocking out prime techno cuts, and ‘Covalent' is no exception, as Doug channels classic dub techno auras with definitive 909 grooves. Doug Cooney lives and breathes techno within every facet of his life and has dedicated many years to the genres growth and wellbeing in Ireland. From setting up one of Ireland's best techno labels RLSD, to teaching in Bray Institute Of Further Education, alongside teaching his RLSD classes, to churning out proper techno 12 inches, there's few Irish DJs and producers that come close to Doug Cooney in terms of impact on the Irish techno scene. Doug Cooney also boast's being one of the most technically gifted DJs on the isle of Ireland. Meticulous attention to detail behind a set of turntables has seen Cooney share the booth with formidable techno figures such as Dave Clarke, James Ruskin, UVB, Mark Broom and more. Doug has a number of distinguished international gigs under his belt, with a debut at the fabled Tresor in Berlin, being the highlight. In recent years Doug has been burning the midnight oil in the studio, crafting high octane and distinctly function techno tracks. Cooney has recently signed records with respected labels such as Orbis, GND, Gynoid, EFR, Bastardo Electrico, N&N Records, Research & Orgone, alongside RLSD Records his own imprint laying a strong foundation for his future in music. His productions have received support from Dave Clarke, Amelie Lens, Ben Sims, Luke Slater, Rodhad, KR!Z, and Answer Code Request. Doug's tracks have also been been remixed by Aiken, Binny, Lee Holman and Dystopian records Jon Hester, proving his calibre in the international arena. For Doug's next release he features on a colossal VA from Dutch techno connoisseurs, Frenzy. Frenzy welcomes the first Various Artist release on their newborn label, Frenzy Recordings. The VA contains 12 tracks handcrafted by 13 artists, both renowned and upcoming. Frenzy focuses on presenting the modern-day sound with roots of the old school, and that is exactly what this Various Artists stands for. Doug's contribution to the debut VA from Frenzy is an infectious dub influenced techno roller. Like many of Doug's great tracks, it's minimal, funky and effective, breathing the essence of techno. As the loop progresses it becomes more and more infectious. The finer details in the atmosphere and carefully orchestrated switches make this track so special. One of Doug's finest pieces of work in my humble opinion. Eddie Hale began exploring electronic music in 2003. Embodied in a heritage of classical to contemporary music, it wasn't until he engaged in seminal records like Nightmares on Wax – Smoker's Delight and Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works that the electronic spark was ignited. Eddie was immediately influenced by the cutting-edge 90's and early 00's Detroit legacy, followed by a move to Berlin, which, as he recalls “had a big impact on me through the freedom experienced there, but also the heavy ‘Berlin luft' atmosphere, which I found really moving.” 2008 saw the start of Eddie's DJ career; as he cut his teeth with house and electro in home town Melbourne. Reflecting on this period, he acknowledges, “those early days really cemented my love for it, being given the opportunity to perform at iconic Australian festivals like Strawberry Fields and Rainbow Serpent.” 2014 saw Eddie travel across the globe to display his hard work in Amsterdam at ADE, a set at Mardi Gras 2017 in Sydney, followed by a 2019 trip to Berlin's notorious Tresor. His productions consist of rich, swirling, synthesised chords; raw drum patterns and deep grooves. The Eddie Hale sound is soulful, futuristic and full of energy - filled by techno, breaks and ambience. This versatility, coupled with sound production prowess has inevitably led him to collaborations, projects and releases with some of the finest artists and labels from Berlin to Detroit. Notable mentions include 2015 EP's on Flash Recordings, and DJ300's Motech followed by acclaimed cuts on respected imprints Intacto Records and Kevin Saunderson's classic KMS. More recently, mid2019 saw ‘Ritus', an alias between Eddie and Ray Kajioka on Swedish label Parabel. 2020 will play base for new material on ODD/ EVEN, Andre Kronert's bespoke vinyl label, with a remix by Jon Hester included. Subsequent to this comes the launch of record label ‘Denude' a new special project by Eddie, consisting of vinyl releases, supported by remixes from Joel Mull and TWR72.
