Restoring the man in manhood and the father in the family is Justin Batt's mission, and it's one that he is excelling at. Justin is the founder of BestMan Media, which encourages men to pursue “reckless obedience by activating the calling God has on their life.” Justin's foray into men's ministries began when he kick-started a tradition with his children called “Daddy Saturday,” where he intentionally spent time with his children and planned fun activities for them to do together. Now, Justin helps men foster loving and wonderful relationships with their own kids, using a Biblical worldview as his guiding light. Justin focuses on being intentional, present (not perfect), and prioritizing his marriage to cultivate a healthy and happy home life. With Father's Day approaching this weekend, it's time to honor those heroes in our lives, but should we be framing dads as heroes?    My friend and Author of "Daddy Saturday" Justin Batt says, “When you set yourself up as the hero, then it becomes about you, not about your kids,” he shares. “When you position yourself as the guide rather than a hero, you allow your ego and your pride to drop.”   Justin is changing perceptions and challenging the constructs of fatherhood through his work by connecting the men he works with to a purpose. Justin is on a mission to reignite and restore fatherhood around the world and change the next generation for the better. He's not all talk, either. During our conversation, Justin shares the inflection point that has caused him to raise his own children in an intentional way. This moment and the effects following inspired him to write his book, “Daddy Saturday: How to Be an Intentional Dad to Raise Good Kids Who Become Great Adults,” a playbook for raising your kids to become productive, confident, happy adults.    Justin shares what he's learned as a father and how the next generation of fathers can raise their children with intentionality on today's episode of Celebrations Chatter.     New podcast episodes released weekly on Thursday. The purpose of Justin's life is to connect and he's on a mission to connect the hearts of fathers to their children and children back to their fathers.  Justin is passionate about reigniting and restoring fatherhood around the world and changing the next generation. He's an active father who's taken a bold approach by building a fatherhood platform on four core areas: faith, family, fitness and finances. He believes that if you win at work, but don't win at home then you haven't won. His goal is to provide fathers with events, experiences, education and technology to unleash the unlimited potential inside of their kids and raise resilient kids who go out and change the world. He's created a for-profit and a non-profit that will impact 10 million fathers in the next 10 years and end fatherlessness. He's worked with the NFL, Pro Football Hall of Fame, NASCAR, Fortune 500 and INC 5000 corporations, provides executive 1-1 coaching, completed a TEDx on fatherhood and built a fatherhood media ecosystem that continues to expand. Justin believes that far more is caught than taught and is an intentional and active father with his four kids and serves as a father figure to countless young men in his community. Justin is also deeply passionate about helping people tell their stories to the world. As the author of the best selling book Daddy Saturday, he created a field manual for fathers on how to be intentional with their kids. In his career as a publisher, he has the honor of helping business leaders, athletes, celebrities, entrepreneurs and thought leaders become professionally published authors.  Justin wears many hats and is an avid Spartan obstacle course racer. He believes in doing hard things daily and becoming comfortable being uncomfortable. His kids participate in Spartan Kids races and he's integrated the "earned not given" mantra into his home. He's also a farmer and raises highland cows to sell to hobby farms and breeders. Each sale creates the purchase of a cow for a family in Daddy Saturday Kenya. He manages True South Farm, the families personal residence and retreat that hosts weddings, masterminds and corporate events and has a barn Airbnb on site. His wife Heather Batt is an incredible entrepreneur and he's supported her women-owned businesses for the last 15 years. In fact, that's how Daddy Saturday started as he found himself at home all day on Saturdays with four kids while she ran her bridal business. He has a B.S. in Sports Marketing from Clemson University. He and Heather raise their four children (Hayden 15, Blane 13, Mason 10, Easton 8), 15 highland cows, miniature pony and run their modern working farm "True South Farm" outside Nashville, TN.

With intentional thought and planning, he created an experience for his kids that they soon would label, “Daddy Saturday,” and a movement was born. Over Father's Day weekend in June, he participated in the Fatherhood Festival, hosted at the Hall of Fame Village in Canton, OH and in partnership with the NFL Alumni Association. Purposeful parent Justin Batt shares powerful perspectives on fostering resilience in children & guiding them to become heroic. Justin is the founder of Daddy Saturday Foundation, and through events, digital products, coaching, and various means he aims to reignite & restore fatherhood around the world! He's a father to four children. Justin discusses ideas such as honoring the “assignment” of parenting, the importance of modeling behaviors - even failures, examples of how to foster resilience in children, how to view failure positively, not allowing ego to get in the way of allowing children to learn from other mentors/people, creating space for children to be challenged, the power in raising our “ceilings” by pushing ourselves, teaching finance to children through a “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” game for kids, solving the fatherlessness epidemic in the world - incl. those fathers who are “physically present but emotionally absent”, and the necessity to plan activities with children. Justin's parenting mission statement is to raise kids who know who God is, know who they are, and know who they are called to be. *And if they have those three things - then they're gonna be a confident, resilient, and well-centered child who becomes a strong adult who makes an impact and becomes a force of good in the world. Balancing various areas of life can be a difficult challenge, and for many of us it can seem to be nearly impossible. I'm a firm believer that when there's an area of life that is a challenge, we all a choice to make with only 2 options. We can choose to do nothing, allow that area to suffer, and further harm ourselves and others in our lives. The second option is that we choose to find a solution to the struggle. Personally, I prefer the latter. For that reason, I have linked up with a mentor of mine, Justin Batt, to share his super powers of leadership and influence with all of you! Justin believes that if you win at work, but don't win at home then you haven't won. He offers insight and content on this episode to help you be a better CEO, entrepreneur and business leader. Additionally, Justin provides content to help you unleash the unlimited potential inside of your kids and raise resilient kids who go out and change the world. Justin Batt is a husband, father, healthcare innovator, TEDx & international speaker, an author, OCR athlete, and is a fatherhood disruptor. Whether you have kids, are an aunt, uncle, or none of the above, this episode is still for you by teaching principles that can be instilled in your everyday life to help find the balance that you truly deserve. We all are born with the opportunity and responsibility to lead ourselves and furthermore, our option to carry that forward and lead others in our lives to make an impact in their lives. As a father of four children with an entrepreneurial wife who worked almost every Saturday, Justin quickly found himself alone, overwhelmed and outnumbered on Saturdays. He woke up one Saturday ready to make a change and armed with a game plan to engage my children in an intentional way. A trampoline, a GoPro, and 500 water balloons resulted in an incredible day with my children and he knew he was on to something special. His kids began asking on Wednesday, “Hey Dad, what’s the plan for Saturday?”. That has morphed into a book, a worldwide movement, and multiple non-profit efforts.

We had a chance to speak about his book Daddy Saturday, the fight for ending fatherlessness, and his principles of being an engaged father. It was epic, listen in! Also make sure to check out Justin's DadBoss Training about getting intentional and unlocking your potential as a father! Key Quotes:"One of our principals and daddy Saturday is that far more is caught than taught. At the end of the day, they will probably take more away from watching you and observing you and modeling what you do than they ever will, what you actually try and teach them""We absolutely took some stuff from the corporate world and brought that over. I think  that's something that we often don't do enough in, in life and in fatherhood. And my perspective is we don't borrow what we know from the corporate world and bring that back into our personal lives and into our family. So, you know, we, we set mission, vision values,  dreams, boards, right? We do all those things as a family and we do those individually.""If I'm insecure about feeling unorganized at work or feel like I've, I'm not living up to the standard that I want to in my physical fitness or whatever it may be, right. That insecurity will come out on other people because it's far easier to push that out on somebody else. And so I may get upset at my kids and oftentimes I'm like, maybe they deserved it, but they didn't deserve to the level that I got upset with them. And the whole reason that happened was because of the fact that I was insecure or feeling ill-equipped or inadequate myself. And that's an important thing for fathers to realize is to examine themselves and have that self awareness to be able to make those adjustments when that happens."Listener Discounts:Declan James Watches - Enter DC10 for 10% off of their high quality watchesThe Dad Corp 'Dad Life' Collection and 'Comfort' Collection - Enter Podcast15 for 15% offPodcast Music Credit:Shellem Cline - Little Pink Glasses

When it comes to raising children, you have to make your moments count, because your child will only be a child for so long. Parents know this, but many find it harder than they expected to get in the quality time that they and their children need. And worries about doing it wrong can lead some parents not to even try.  Today’s guest joins the podcast to talk about intentional parenting. Justin Batt is the founder of Daddy Saturday, an organization designed to help dads raise good kids to become great adults. Justin explains how Daddy Saturday got started – his wife was getting started establishing her own business, and Justin found himself in the position of being the primary parent on most Saturdays. He noticed that these Saturdays didn’t always result in the kind of time he wanted to spend with his children, despite good intentions, so he decided to make a change.  “It starts with you as the parent first, and you modeling for your kids what you want to see in them.” Justin started making plans to engage with his children in an intentional way. With a plan of action in place, not only did Saturdays go more smoothly, but Justin found that he was able to be really present with his children, not just physically, but emotionally as well.  It didn’t take long for Justin to discover that he was not the only father experiencing similar things, and he set out to find a way to use his own engagement with his children to help out other fathers as well. This is what led to Daddy Saturdays.  In today’s episode, Justin explains how he began helping other fathers develop plans for engaging with their children and how that intention helped relationships improve. He also discussed his research into the problem of fatherlessness, including how fathers can sometimes be present in the household but not emotionally available for their children, and how that affects children and families. He also discusses his own experiences with alcohol and giving it up. Have you read the book Daddy Saturday? About a month ago I picked it up and finished it in 48 hours. Not only did the book convict me as a parent, but it also inspired me to do better and equipped me with practical tools to be more engaged with my daughter. After the book impacted me, I reached out to the author, Justin Batt, and asked him to come on my podcast. He generously agreed, and today I’m excited to bring you that interview! As you will see, Justin has a lot of wisdom about parenting and is just an all-around inspiring guy.  He’s a husband (his wife is an entrepreneur and runs a successful bridal boutique in Charleston, SC), a father of 4, and the Founder and Chief Dad Officer (as Justin likes to say) of Daddy Saturday and the Daddy Saturday Foundation, which is a movement all about intentional parenting and engaging your kids (which sounds simple, but it can be tough in a busy world).  Even if you’re not a father, the principles Justin teaches may challenge the way you think about time and help you turn the mundane into more meaningful moments. Daddy Saturday started in Justin’s backyard and is now an international movement.  With an ambitiously awesome goal to impact 10 million fathers in the next 10 years and eliminate fatherlessness, Justin travels internationally and around the US (including speaking at TEDx) inspiring fathers to be more engaged. It’s important to note that when Justin refers to fatherlessness, he isn’t just referring to children without fathers; he is also talking about fathers (like me at times) who are physically present, but mentally or emotionally absent.  Somehow, Justin does all of this when he’s not at work.  In addition to being a highly sought after business advisor and healthcare consultant, he is also the President of Growth and Revenue for Kameleon Partners, LLC, the global leader in Life Sciences Account Management and Electronic Health Records Enablement. Justin also has a retail startup that ranks in the top 10% of U.S. businesses, and he is a partner in the real estate app ZoomOffers. Consistent with the principles he teaches, Justin competes regularly in Spartan obstacle course races and has inspired his kids to join him for the challenge. Check out Justin’s interview on the Spartan Up podcast, hosted by Joe De Sena, the Founder and CEO of Spartan Race. I hope you get a lot out of this interview.  I know I sure did Let me know what you think in the comments below! Also, a special thank you to my good friend Ryan Brence for contributing to the content and questions in this episode.  I sincerely appreciate Ryan’s assistance and couldn’t do this without his encouragement and support.

My next Dad, Justin Batt, is the founder of the “Daddy Saturday” movement and non-profit organisation. Justin’s mission is to impact 10 million fathers in the next 10 years. Justin has 4 kids. A daughter of 11 years and three boys 9, 7 and 5. His wife is an entrepreneur and because she started a bridal boutique he found himself alone with his daughter every Saturday when she was two old. Add three more boys to the mix within the next six years and Justin found himself on his own every Saturday with more and more kids over time. He grabbed opportunity and “Daddy Saturday” was born. Saturday is the day entirely devoted to, carefully curated and planned with his kids. Other Dads started reaching out or joined in and the rest is history. Justin’s says Dads are not born with a field manual and his aim is to inspire and provide practical applications on how to engage with your kids. His focus is on actionable parenting, intentionality and implementation. We talk about his movement, intentionality and structure in the home, the concept of failing and Justin’s, very practical, experience shares one can apply in an instant. Another great concept we explore - he calls it pivoting - parents can apply before difficult conversations happen. The most powerful takeaways for me as a dad where: I have to be equally aligned with my wife in the things that matter to build a united front. Don’t burn all your fuel during the week. Don’t be your kids’ hero; be your kids guide and find more guides for the things you’re not good at. Excessive use of screen time as parents and fathers rubs off on my kids. Big one for me. 133: Justin Batt: Founder and Chief Daddy Officer at Daddy Saturday, Father of Four, Best-Selling Author, TEDx Speaker, Managing Partner at Hayden Olivia Bridal, and President Growth and Revenue at Kameleon Partners, learned how to become more attentive in both his family and work life, and turned that skillset into a business.  Justin Batt When you have a career, a spouse and four kids, ages 11, 9, 7, and 5 that rightfully require your time, balancing your calendar can be a tricky proposition. Justin Batt in Charleston, South Carolina designed a strategy that worked for him and he called it Daddy Saturday. How did he arrive at this concept? “I found myself at home on Saturdays with four kids and I had them all to myself the entire day to support my wife, but also to engage with my kids. I just found like most dads, I was working in corporate America, traveling a lot. Stressed out, tired, overwhelmed, often times burning the candle at both ends and the end of the week was often the toughest time. I’d come in on a Friday night, and Saturday morning waking up knowing I’m with my kids for 8-10 hours, having to interact with them and engage them and I just wanted more.”   On this episode of Finding Your Summit Podcast, we talk with an extremely busy man, Justin Batt, Founder and Chief Daddy Officer at Daddy Saturday, Father of Four, Best-Selling Author, TEDx Speaker, Managing Partner at Hayden Olivia Bridal, and President Growth and Revenue at Kameleon Partners. Being intentional about his activities with his kids on those Saturdays was vastly improving his engagement and connection with them, while improving his relationship with his wife. “Two years ago I was honored to give a TEDxon the topic of fatherlessness, and I learned a whole lot more about the huge epidemic in our country, Mark, with the biological father not being in the home. But also the physically-present, emotionally-absent dad, which is what I was for a period of time. I wanted to create something to inspire them, encourage them and equip them with tools to be that intentional and engaged dad and have the results that I had.”    What You Will Learn:   Justin Batt talks about working with his wife to start a business called Hayden Olivia Bridal: “We named it after our daughter who was born right at the same time the store was opened. This was at the beginning of the recession in 2008. So we leveraged everything we had. We opened the store. I was in corporate America at the time and we had our little daughter Hayden Olivia. So I would stay at home with her on Saturdays as Heather would work the bridal store, wearing all the hats as an entrepreneur.”   Justin discusses the little-known fact that 24 million kids in America are without a father at home and roughly 49 million dads are at home, but are not present. “If we looked at any other epidemic in our country, diabetes, or opioid abuse, or anything else. If you put those numbers up against it and also the societal ills that come from it. It would be a national epidemic by catastrophic proportions. But no one views it that way.”    What can we all learn about balance from Justin Batt? “Balance is something that I don’t know if you ever achieve. I think that balance is something that you manage. You don’t ever eliminate the obstacle of balance. One of the biggest challenges that I had early on as a dad was I was trying too hard to find balance and the work/life tension was tearing me up because I would either pour too much into work then I would feel the tension that I should be at home when I’m working or vice-versa.”   Being intentional about how he wants to progress as a family man involves unifying his work calendar and his personal calendar all into one to make his life feel less divided and to add priority to everything on his schedule. “I established what I like to call, work-life purpose.’ And I created that purpose for a game plan and a long-term mission for how I wanted to see myself as father of my kids, not only tomorrow, but also in the future, 20-30 years from now and then backed it up and said, what does it take for me to get there and to achieve that?”    How does a typical day start for Justin Batt in order to include himself into the demands of his daily regimen before spending time with his four kids, his wife, as well as his dog? “I wake up normally between 4:40-5:00am. I will typically do prayer and devotional first thing. I meditate and then I will grab a quick smoothie or something real fast and then I’m out the door and I work out for an hour and then come back in. Often times I will be listening to a podcast or I will read an article or two or a quick book or something right there at the end of that and then the kids are up and they are awake and now I’ve got my time in and I’ve stimulated myself physically, mentally, and spiritually.”    Child Heroes    Instead of trying to be the central hero in his children’s lives, he allows them to be that by getting the assistance they need that may be beyond his own personal abilities. “I’ve allowed other men to come into my kids’ lives who have expertise in areas that I don’t and serve as additional guides to my children and it is all because I am not the hero. It doesn’t matter to me and in fact it is a win-win-win when you do that and so, serving the guide is a critical role in making your kids the hero of their own story.”    Creating Excitement with His Kids    During this episode of Finding Your Summit Podcast with Justin Batt, he also shares the ways in which he keeps the excitement alive with his kids by making a point to celebrate the first moment that he sees them each day. “I’m almost always up before my kids. So when they come up in the mornings, I greet them like they are running through the tunnel of a locker room coming into the big game. My arms are up in the air. My arms are out. I’m excited. I got a smile on my face. I’m screaming their names. We’re fist-bumping. We’re chest-bumping.” Links to Additional Resources: Justin Batt: Linkedin Twitter   Book: Daddy Saturday: How to Be an Intentional Dad to Raise Good Kids Who Become Great Adults  Justin Batt’s Website: justinbatt.com Daddy Saturday: daddysaturday.com

Fatherhood is one of life’s greatest responsibilities, and yet so many of us feel completely unequipped for the role. Many first time and long time dads find it difficult to engage with their children, or otherwise feel overwhelmed with the pressures of work. How can we begin to redefine Fatherhood, and start building up intentional relationships with our kids? Luckily, we have places like Daddy Saturday to turn to. I’m talking to Justin Batt, Chief Daddy at Daddy Saturday, about how he has transformed his relationship with his kids, even as a working parent.    Daddy Saturday is a website dedicated to building resources and communities for fathers. It started when Justin’s oldest daughter was born, and he found himself being the sole caregiver on Saturdays while Mom was at work. These Saturdays with his kids became precious as he intentionally planned ways to have quality time, rather than simply checking out on his phone or becoming preoccupied with work. Now, he and his children are having grand adventures and encouraging people from across the world to do the same.    Justin is going to share all of his tips for Dads who want to transform their relationships with their kids. While it does require a mindset shift and a commitment to put the phone down, building intentional relationships with kids is incredibly easy. Fatherlessness is currently in a state of crisis, but Dads like Justin are trying to take back Saturday and encourage Dads to engage and take ownership of their responsibility. Yes, life and technology have their pressures and influences, but Justin is going to show us how easily we can build habits that will impact our children for a lifetime.   More in this episode:  •    Being intentional and engaging with his kids on a Saturday became a community phenomenon.  •    How Justin is encouraging other dads to change how they approach their weekends with kids.  •    Fatherhood is a huge responsibility, but it’s also an opportunity.  •    Be there for your kids during breakfast, or any other rallying point.  •    Questions you can use to engage your kids.  •    Why experiencing failure as kids can make strong adults.  •    Justin tells the story of how he and his wife became business partners and life partners.  •    Advice for Dads who want to start being more intentional.  •    What is launching next for Justin and Daddy Saturday?  •    A little bit of planning makes a world of difference.  •    How to engage your kids as they get older.  •    Focus on peak performance in our parenting, not just our career or our health.  •    Learn all the nuts and bolts of how Justin runs Daddy Saturday.  •    Sometimes, low-tech is best.   Links  Daddy Saturday   https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSppCEe24NP3sJEVqaQq_DA   The Modern Dad’s Dilemma
