"Are you navigating transformation alone when the fabric of community is waiting to hold you?" What happens when you refuse to stay trapped? Leann Rose Crook shares her journey through eight major life transformations—from single mom on welfare to salon owner to leading 50 men in Iraq's desert. Her message? "You are absolutely good enough." Not because of achievements. Simply because you're human. Leann reveals the grade five moment that sparked her lifelong purpose, the profound realization that "we are all the same" she discovered on tribal floors in Iraq, and a simple five-question exercise to identify your own purpose. Her story challenges the myth of going it alone. We're not meant to be independent threads—we're meant to weave ourselves into the fabric of community, especially during transformation.Leann Rose Crook is a Transformation Mentor, Identity Recovery Coach, and founder of Lango Living. After navigating eight major life transformations—from single mom on welfare to salon owner to leading occupational health and safety training for 50 men in Iraq—Leann developed a practical six-step transformation system for women navigating major life change. Her keynote "Desert Rose in Iraq" draws from seven years working in Iraq and Oman. Today, Leann helps women who feel like everything has shifted—divorce, job loss, burnout, or relocation—rebuild their identity, reclaim their power, and take ownership of their next chapter. We wrap up our series of Hollywood stars who solved crimes on the air with Glenn Ford. The star of Gilda, The Big Heat, and 3:10 to Yuma appeared on radio as Christopher London, a globetrotting private eye created by Erle Stanley Gardner. We'll hear Ford as London in "The Missing Heiress" (originally aired on NBC on February 5, 1950). Then, he's a man on the run in a Studio One adaptation of "The 39 Steps" (originally aired on CBS on March 23, 1948).
This week's Hollywood leading man turned radio detective is Dana Andrews, who starred on screen in Laura, Where the Sidewalk Ends, Boomerang, and more. On the air, Andrews played Matt Cvetic, undercover agent, in the syndicated series I Was a Communist for the FBI. We'll hear a pair of his adventures in Red-bashing: "Pit Viper" and "Jump to the Whip." Plus, Andrews plays a reporter out to clear a wrongfully convicted man in a radio adaptation of Call Northside 777 from Hollywood Sound Stage (originally aired on CBS on December 27, 1951).
Why do so many driven men work relentlessly, achieve success, and still feel unfulfilled? What if the real issue isn't effort—but identity? In this episode, we unpack the hidden pressures, internal battles, and unspoken frustrations men face around purpose, discipline, and leadership—and why grinding harder often leads to burnout, not clarity. Our guest, Austin Joel Sims (AJ Sims), is a coach, mentor, and founder of Cement Factory, helping men build strength, discipline, and identity from the inside out. AJ began competing in bodybuilding at just 12 years old and trained alongside elite athletes, including four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler. Today, he blends performance, faith, and mindset coaching to mentor men worldwide, lead retreats, build purpose-driven brands, and raise his family in Oklahoma.Together, we explore the difference between striving from a wounded mindset and leading from a grounded identity, how unresolved trauma quietly drives ambition, and what it truly means to build a life rooted in purpose, peace, and standards. If you've ever felt like you're constantly proving yourself—or wondering why success doesn't feel as fulfilling as it should—this conversation will challenge how you think, lead, and show up.Quotes:"Covenant, not contract—contracts are meant to be broken, covenants aren't broken.""You recycle your pain. Don't just go cry to cry. Actually use that as fuel in a healthy way—not from a state of internal anger.""Standards are not pressure. Standards are alignment."Actionable Takeaways:Audit your ambition: Identify one area of your life where you're striving to prove something rather than building from clarity. Ask yourself, Who am I trying to impress—and why?Shift from effort to identity: Write down three standards you want to live by daily (not goals). Then ask, Do my current habits align with the man I say I want to become?Address the root, not the grind: Take time this week to reflect on a past wound, failure, or disappointment that may still be driving your work ethic. What would change if you led from healing instead of hustle?Create a daily non-negotiable: Choose one small, disciplined action (morning silence, movement, journaling, prayer, or reflection) and commit to it for 7 days—no matter how you feel.Redefine success: Ask yourself this question and write the answer down: If success had nothing to do with money or status, what would a “well-lived life” actually look like for me?Conclusion:This conversation is a reminder that real strength isn't built by grinding harder—it's built by leading from the right identity. When discipline is rooted in purpose and clarity, it stops being exhausting and starts becoming sustainable.Whether you're a high performer feeling burned out, a leader questioning your direction, or someone who knows there's more beneath the surface, this episode challenges you to slow down, examine what's driving you, and rebuild from the inside out.Because when identity is solid, everything else—leadership, performance, faith, and fulfillment—has a foundation that lasts.
We continue our spotlight series of Hollywood heavy hitters who put in time as radio detectives. This week, it's a legend of classic cinema - Humphrey Bogart, star of Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, The African Queen, and so many more iconic films. Bogart headlined Bold Venture, a syndicated mystery-adventure series set in the tropics. His co-star was no less than his real-life wife, Lauren Bacall. We'll hear a pair of syndicated Bold Venture mysteries - "The Tears of Siva," "The Mystery of the Mary K." Plus, Bogie stars in the audition for what would have been his own anthology drama Humphrey Bogart Presents. In this audition recording, Bogart hosts and appears in an adaptation of James M. Cain's story "Dead Man."
We kick off 2026 with a month-long series of big screen stars who lent their voices to radio detectives. First up is Alan Ladd, the steely star of classic noir dramas like This Gun for Hire and The Blue Dahlia and westerns like the iconic Shane. We'll hear him in his signature radio role of mystery writer and amateur sleuth Dan Holiday in a pair of syndicated episodes of Box 13 - "Treasure of Hang Li" and "Sealed Instructions." Plus, he recreates his big screen role as an old west detective as The Screen Director's Playhouse presents "Whispering Smith" (originally aired on NBC on September 16, 1949).

Most men's groups rise or fall on what happens between meetings. You can run a solid 60-minute gathering, but real brotherhood, real transformation, and real momentum are built in the six days that follow. In this leadership training, Vince shows you the simple system he uses with every men's group he leads—touchpoints, connections, encouragements, and invitations that keep men engaged and moving spiritually. These steps are simple. Repeatable. Transferable. Any man can do them. But when you apply them consistently, you build a group that grows deeper, lasts longer, and multiplies faster. What You'll Learn: The Weekly Touchpoint rhythm How to build trust with quick daily connections The power of celebrating obedience and action The "Who's your one?" invitational mindset How to build anticipation that keeps men showing up ready Strong groups don't happen by accident—they're built by leaders who lead every day, not just meeting day. Great quotes for this lesson: "Momentum is built in the gaps, not just the gathering." — Vince Miller "Small disciplines repeated with consistency every day lead to great achievements gained slowly over time." — John Maxwell Men who interact outside the weekly study are 3x more likely to stay engaged long-term. And 80% of men join because one man invited them. If you want stronger meetings… lead stronger between meetings.
Most men think Bible study requires a seminary degree. It doesn't. God's Word is for every man, and Jesus gave us the simplest blueprint: hear it… and do it. In this video, Vince Miller breaks down a 3-step process any man can use to open the Bible, understand it, and apply it—today. No fluff. No confusion. Just a clear path toward transformation. Open the Bible. Run the process. Watch God work.

The theme of this letter is captured in 1 Timothy 3:14-15: I am writing these things to you, hoping to come to you before long; but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth. Today's text: 1 Timothy 3:1-7: It is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do. An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not addicted to wine or pugnacious, but gentle, peaceable, free from the love of money. He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity (but if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of the church of God?), and not a new convert, so that he will not become conceited and fall into the condemnation incurred by the devil. And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. + Use This Properly + Use This Personally + Use This Christologically 1 - Relating To Desire 2 - Relating To Personal Character 3 - Relating To Family Life 4 - Relating To Others 5 - Relating To The Faith

Comments? Questions? Send us a message! The Barnabas Method has silently transformed over 500 men's lives across decades, and now this powerful discipleship process is available to every church leader seeking authentic spiritual formation for the men they shepherd. What's the difference between knowing biblical information and becoming like Christ? According to Pastor Dale Lewis, most discipleship approaches focus too heavily on knowledge acquisition while neglecting the transformational aspects of spiritual growth. "Barnabas is about becoming the right person, not just having the right answers," Lewis explains, drawing from his decades of experience implementing this 13-week process. The genius of the Barnabas Method lies in its radical relationality. Built on what Lewis calls "the three Ts" - teachability, transparency, and transference - this approach creates safe spaces for men to admit they don't know everything, share vulnerably about their struggles, and commit to passing what they learn to others. The process unfolds through weekly meetings where men practice focused listening, report on dates with their wives, tackle biblical concepts like new covenant living, and hold one another accountable with remarkable specificity.Perhaps most counterintuitive is the requirement that the pastor or leader position themselves as a fellow learner rather than an expert who has "arrived." This vulnerability creates the conditions for authentic community where true transformation can occur. "If you can't learn from another man," Lewis warns, "that's saying something about how much you're actually going to learn from the Holy Spirit."The curriculum traces its origins through a discipleship lineage including Ray Stedman, Harry Ironside, and J. Vernon McGee, but has been refined and streamlined into a reproducible process any church can implement. After completing the 13 weeks, participants are encouraged to begin discipling others, creating exponential multiplication that transforms not just individual men but entire church cultures.Ready to move beyond programs to transformation? In this episode of Midnight Local, Greg and Meredith discuss the TV show Veep and its parallels to real-world politics. They share their impressions of the show, including the shaky camera style and the unlikeable characters. They also discuss the dynamics of dysfunctional office environments and the chaos that comes with working in politics. The conversation touches on the authenticity of political shows and the balance between dialogue-heavy and visually-driven storytelling. The conversation explores the themes of cinema, musical theater, sitcoms, and the influence of media on our lives. It touches on the idea that the camera should speak more than the dialogue in films, and how musical theater can convey plot points through songs. The hosts discuss the similarities between sitcoms and real life, and how people often see their own lives reflected in these shows. They also delve into the concept of leading men in Hollywood and the changing landscape of stardom. Give online therapy a try at betterhelp.com/BENEATH and get on your way to being your best self.” ** Sometimes, there is nothing quite like a good old B-movie. Maybe the production values aren't the best, and maybe the story is grittier than most, but these little gems have provided hours of viewing pleasure to so many. These films also had great leading men in them. Studly, sturdy, reliable actors who might not be GARY COOPER or CARY GRANT or CLARK GABLE, but were handsome and talented and knew how to beat up the bad guys and win over the lovely leading lady. As an homage to the leading men of the B's, this week, we'll take a look at the lives an careers of five of our favorites.
