Kenny breaks down how one injury on a roof led to a $18,000 week, why most contractors stay broke chasing one-time jobs instead of recurring revenue, and how a five-year warranty and reapplication cycle turns a single roof into a client for life. Whether you're stuck in a job that's capped your income, sitting on a skill you haven't figured out how to scale, or just tired of starting over every time you win a customer, this episode shows what's possible when you stop chasing one-time paydays and start building something that pays you again and again.

Today I'm joined by someone I've gotten to know really well over the past 2 years. He's a family man, entrepreneur, coach, podcast host and much more. I've had the opportunity to play golf with him, and get to know him outside of just who he is as a businessman. I'm lucky enough to call him a friend and someone that I get to do life with.My guest today is Kenny Robinson. He is the Owner of Roof Savers, a roofing company in Foley, Alabama.Kenny Robinson lives in Fairhope, Alabama, a small community on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay, just 12 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico. He has 5 children (Son - Kenneth 21, Daughter - Kenadie 15, Son – Kaden 11, Son – Dawson 5, Daughter – Masynn 3). Kenny and his wife Macey enjoy building their businesses and finally being full time entrepreneurs. They like to get away and do some hunting and fishing or enjoy a day out on the boat whenever possible.Kenny has been a roofing contractor since June 2019, and owns a Roof Maxx dealership he runs along with that. Leading up to becoming Roof Maxx dealers Kenny and his wife both worked in law enforcement. Kenny was a police officer with the Fairhope PD, and Macey was a dispatcher for the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. Kenny was looking for a way to replace Macey's income so she could stay at home with the children when he came across Roof Maxx. He had always wanted to own his own business and after several skeptical days of research and phone calls he was able to convince the family that Roof Maxx was the direction they were headed. They decided half a year later to go into full service roofing contracting.Kenny's wife Macey was able to leave her job within the first month of opening their dealership, and after one year, June 2020, Kenny made the decision to go "all in" and was able to leave his job as well. From the beginning Kenny spent his time networking and educating people about Roof Maxx. Kenny is always willing to help others succeed and believes that the success of the brand will only improve his ability to close sales. Kenny started off as a “one man” operation and developed his business to a point where Macey handles the office work, phone calls, and scheduling while he is in the field selling and maintaining quality control.Together Kenny and his wife also own an Italian Ice business called "Scoop of Sunshine". Kenny is a devoted husband, father, and entrepreneur. The Steelers made 10 cuts today. We look at how that impact the roster and who is ultimately going to make this team.
We get Ray's thoughts from Friday night, what he has seen at camp and practices and takes us through his first 53-man roster projection.
Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith are back to discuss the controversial topic of the Pittsburgh Steelers playing their stars in the preseason. Should Kenny Pickett, Najee Harris, TJ Watt and company play in the preseason? What say you? They then discuss what the last practice prior to the team's preseason opener against the Buccaneers brought us and who stood out. Gunner continues to make a strong case to make the roster and Kenny Robinson continues to run with the starters. Is this finally Anthony McFarland's time? Ray checks in for his insights from Steelers camp and what has stuck out to him the most.
Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the PG joined the show. Ray talked about the ongoing battle at left tackle and said Broderick Jones doesn't look out of place when he is thrown in with the first team. Ray talked about the one-v-one exchanges between Joey Porter Jr. and George Pickens so far and why it's a positive for Porter even if he doesn't win all the reps. Ray talked about the plans for Darnell Washington and the situations he could find himself the most useful. Ray doesn't like the chances of Hakeem Butler because he has dropped a lot of passes and isn't making the best impression. Ray said the biggest trash talker in camp is Pittsburgh native Kenny Robinson. Ray said the defense is ahead of the offense so far, as expected.
ESPN NFL insider Brooke Pryor joined the show. Brooke said Anthony McFarland and Kwon Alexander were the two winners at practice today. Brooke commented on any George Pickens highlights today at practice and the viral catch he made yesterday. Brooke said Kenny Pickett isn't playing favorites and is making an emphasis on spreading the love to his targets. Can the Steelers count on Calvin Austin to be the true speedster he's cracked up to be? She thinks Broderick Jones looks pretty good in his first two padded practices and that he is really going to push Dan Moore for the starting spot. Brooke thought it was a sloppy practice, but the ones that preceded it were pretty high quality. Brooke said Kenny Robinson is turning a few heads so far.
July 31, 2023 - Season 14, Episode 2 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers wrapping up their first four days of 2023 training camp practices and how the team has a bust schedule starting on Tuesday that includes them putting the pads on for the first time. We start this show off by going over the heath of the team with four training camp practices now in the books and Monday being an off day. We also go over the roster moves made since the Friday episode and make sure to address the running back the team is reportedly bringing in Monday for a tryout. The signing of veteran inside linebacker Kwon Alexander is one of the recent transactions made by the Steelers so Alex and I discuss his fit with the team and possible place on the depth chart. We go over potential playing time in the defense for alexander and the impact his addition may have on second year inside linebacker Mark Robinson. With Alex being at training camp for the first four days, we go over several of main takeaways from the practices. We discuss offensive line rotation on Sunday, safety Kenny Robinson making plays, and how rookie outside linebacker Nick Herbig is doing early on at Saint Vincent College. Alex has been tracking some stats through the first four days of training camp, so he gives an overview of those late in this show. We end this show by going over a few questions from our listeners. In addition to his stand-up career, Sterling is also a talented writer and actor, having worked on season twenty of the Canadian comedy TV show "This Hour Has 22 Minutes." But that's not all - Sterling has even performed for the troops in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and traveled to Dubai and the prestigious Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal. In this episode, we'll dive into Sterling's experiences on stage, including his unforgettable moment of bombing at the Apollo and performing at The Comedy Store with T.I. Chop problems. Just hearing those words sends shivers down the spine of amateur and professional trumpet players alike. The thought of not being able to play the trumpet is something that creeps around in the deepest and darkest parts of our brains. Most of the time, it is an irrational fear. But sometimes, the fear becomes very real. The question is, is it possible to come back from chop problems? Sometimes the answer is no. But often, the answer could be yes, but only if you know where to look for help. This special compilation episode of The Trumpet Gurus Hang features six of my past guests who have not only overcome chop problems but have turned their temporary setbacks into a setup for greater success. The Carolina Panthers wrapped up Day 2 of joint practices with the New England Patriots on Wednesday morning in Foxborough. Panthers head coach Matt Rhule should be drawing near a decision on which of the two quarterbacks, Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield, will be the team's starter for Week 1 vs. Cleveland. Instead, Rhule is stay mum on the team's plan while also stating that the plan is "really good". Will Rhule in fact name a starter following this week in New England?Tensions were high on several occasions Wednesday during joint practices as the Panthers and Patriots were wrapped up in several fights. One Panther who found himself in the middle of the melee was Kenny Robinson, who was escorted out of practice on Tuesday. Following practice, when asked about Robinson being cut for his actions, Rhule was noncommital to whether that would impact Robinson's status on the team. Julian Council wonders how much the Panthers truly benefitted from the joint practices considering the number of fights and injuries the team had over the course of the two days.Plus, Rhule revealed his plans for Friday night's preseason game at New England and an update on Bradley Bozeman.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!DaveDownload the Dave app from the App store right now for an Extra Cash account and get up to 500 dollars instantly. Kenny Robinson is one of the hardest working comedians in Canada & has been making his living as a comic/actor since 1984. Along the way, he has helped to launch careers for many upcoming comedians & has done so selflessly. I first took notice of Kenny when he hosted his TV show, "After Hours" in the early 2000s & his train has kept rolling on through the years. I met Kenny while I was performing with my band at a bar in London, Ontario circa 2008. He was working his show at the local Yuk Yuks & found his way to my show as he was looking to blow off some steam & relax after his set. He is one of the warmest & kind celebrities I've met to date. Known for his raunchy or "blue" comedy, Kenny has also done a lot of mainstream work in both comedy & acting, including regular appearances on the TV series "Doc" featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, movie roles alongside Chris Rock (2001 "Down to Earth") Jude Law & Forest Whitaker (2010 Repo Men). Most recently, he's appeared as "Reggie" on the Tv series "Coroner" & as "Earl" on "The Umbrella Academy" . Meanwhile, he is on tour creating laughs all over Canada. His "Nubian Comedy Revue" has been very well received as he continues to give younger artists a leg up. In this episode, we discussed his beginnings in show business & his successes along the way to the present.
