"I always thought that the key was grit and hard work...But I had to learn how to work smart and healthy. I had to be both healthy and smart." - Jeff Schafer This week on Priorities Lifestyle: Jeff shares why the EOS system is so pivotal for so many businesses Defining your core values Hiring, firing, promoting, and recognizing those values in your employees What Jeff aims to accomplish in "Level Ten" meetings Why Autonomy is Crucial in Entrepreneurial Companies The Need For Employees To Understand Their Position Visionaries Vs. Integrators Vision, Discipline, and Team Health Our Favorite Quotes: "When you define your core values for your organization, an EOS company is willing to hire, fire, reward, review and recognize people based on those core values. It's a day to day way of life." - Jeff Schafer "I could build a good leader, but I couldn't get a leader to be a good leader themselves. That's where I was capped and so that's what EOS taught me." - Jeff Schafer "We take the leaders in the room, and we discover the core values in the people who are out of the room, because the leaders have brought in great people in the organization, and those core values are often found in the great staff that they already have." - Jeff Schafer About Rob Schulz and P&L Priorities & LIfestyle Podcast The P&L: Priorities & Lifestyle Podcast is a show for business owners. Here we are at the end of the series, what was regrettably the finale before the movie was announced. It's time for the Monarch to ascend to a Level Ten villain status, and the Guild puts on a big show about Saphrax and Altheaus, the original villain and henchman, to commemorate it. It's... incongruous. Meanwhile, Dean shares sweet moments with a comatose Hank, while Hank ventures through a psychedelic mindscape, and Brock slaughters tens of henchmen for the first time in a long time. If you like fresh content on a subject I haven't touched on before, you're going to love this episode. That's because I'm chatting with Joelle Samantha all about orthorexia, which is an eating disorder that focuses on food quality and “purity.” With more people entering the fitness game every year and consumers becoming more conscious of what they put into their bodies, many people are paying more attention to what they eat. For many people, this is a good thing. But with a greater focus on food quality, tracking food, and clean eating than ever before, and misinformation and fad diets abound, it's not too surprising that orthorexia and other types of similar eating disorders are on the rise. So, what causes orthorexia, how does it manifest in daily life, and what can people do about it? Joelle is here to help answer these questions. In case you're not familiar with her, Joelle has a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology and is an educator specializing in women's health, nutrition, and physique development. She's also a Legion Athlete, and the head coach and CEO of Level TEN, an evidence-based coaching company. I thought she'd make a great guest to talk about orthorexia because she's not only helped clients get through it, but it's something she's dealt with personally in her own life. Her own struggle with nutritional misinformation led to orthorexia, and is what inspired her to become the educator and coach she is today. In this interview, Joelle and I talk about . . . What orthorexia is and its relationship to control and perfectionism How misinformation and an innocent desire to lose weight can spiral into orthorexia Over-exercising and working out purely to “burn off” small meals How to recover from orthorexia And more . . . So if you want to learn what orthorexia is, how it can develop, and what to do about it if you think you have an eating disorder, listen to this podcast. Joelle, the owner of Level TEN is an online coach and educator who specializes in women's health, nutrition, and physique development. After battling her way through immense misinformation in the health and fitness industry, Joelle realized how many others were also falsely led down a dark path of disordered eating and obsessive relationships with food and the gym. From then on, Joelle made it her mission to educate others in the hopes she could prevent people from struggling the way she did at the start of her fitness journey. Joelle went on to obtain her Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology, become a health & fitness coach, and also taught several years of health education and physical education to high school students. Joelle's ability to make complex health & fitness topics easily understandable for the average gym goer or fitness enthusiast is what allows her clients to gain the knowledge and confidence they need to continue excelling on their own fitness journey. If any of that resonates with you or you just simply want to learn more about fitness, nutrition, and entrepreneurship - you'll love this episode.
