The Skunk ApeDeep in the swamps and forests of the southeastern United States lurks the legendary florida cryptid known as the Skunk Ape, a close cousin to the more famous sasquatch of the Pacific Northwest.Standing between 5 and 8 feet tall and weighing over 300 pounds, this florida bigfoot has earned its distinctive name from the powerful sulfuric odor it reportedly emits. Historical sightings of this swamp creature date back to 1818, with Native American Seminole tribes referring to it as the Esti Capcaki, or "Hairy Giant," believing it to be the mystical protector of the woods. From the mysterious Myakka skunk ape photographs of 2000 to the numerous documented encounters in the Everglades, this southern bigfoot continues to captivate researchers and witnesses alike. The everglades monster has been the subject of multiple credible sightings by law enforcement officers, fire chiefs, and everyday citizens, with reports describing a massive, hair-covered humanoid that moves with surprising agility through the dense Florida wilderness. The creature's most distinguishing characteristics, beyond its imposing size and reddish-brown fur, are its distinctive four-toed footprints and that unforgettable stench that often announces its presence before it's even seen.Patreon: Support Believing the Bizarre and get tons of extra content by joining our Patreon. For updates, news, and extra content, follow Believing the Bizarre on social media:InstagramFacebookTwitterDiscordShop Merch: You can rep Believing the Bizarre and buy some unique merchWant to send BTB something? Standing 7-8 feet tall with reddish-brown fur and weighing over 300 pounds, this bipedal creature is often considered the southeastern United States' answer to the Pacific Northwest's Bigfoot. Historical records date back to 1818, including Native American Seminole tribes who called it "Esti Capcaki" (the Furry Tall Man) and believed it to be a mystical protector of the forests. Notable sightings have been documented by law enforcement officers, fire chiefs, and countless civilians, with significant clusters of activity in the Everglades, Ocala National Forest, and various swamplands throughout Florida. David Shealy, a prominent Skunk Ape researcher, has dedicated his life to studying the creature and operates the Skunk Ape Headquarters, housing photographs, footprint casts, and research materials. The creature is known for its distinctive characteristics, including four-toed footprints, long arms that hang past its knees, and an ability to move swiftly through dense swamp terrain despite its size. While skeptics suggest it might be misidentified black bears with mange or elaborate hoaxes, continued sightings by credible witnesses and consistent physical descriptions across decades have maintained the Skunk Ape's status as one of America's most intriguing cryptozoological mysteries.

On this episode of the Club + Resort Talks podcast, Club + Resort Business Editor-in-Chief Rob Thomas speaks with Erik Whitehead, Membership Director at Myakka Golf Club in Myakka City, Fla. Miakka Golf Club, a private club currently being built by Dana Fry and Jason Straka with consultation from PGA veteran Paul Azinger, is located near Sarasota, construction is well under way and preview play is expected to begin the fall of 2025. The course is being built on more than 1,100 acres of land and will feature an Australian Sandbelt design (Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath, etc). They also have created a 600 acre sod farm to grow their own zoysia grasses. Rob and Senior Editor Phil Keren also discussed projects happening in Florida, Arizona and California. Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton, Fla. this past week officially unveiled its 110,000-sq.-ft., fully renovated, two-story Lifestyle Center. The facility includes a 96,000 sq.-ft. Aquatic Complex, 20,000 sq. ft. of fitness studios, with state-of-the-art technology for spin, aerobics, Pilates and core training. The expansion includes a fully renovated spa, cabana shop, poker room, card room, game lounge, locker rooms/lounge, and business center. Rob and Phil shared thoughts about the renovation of the Mountainview Golf Course that was completed at SaddleBrooke Two, a master-planned community located north of Tucson, Ariz. The project focused on replacing the old irrigation system, improved drainage, bunkers complexes, turf reduction and improvements as well as adding new tees to the 27-year-old course. Phil and Rob also reviewed the ongoing reconstruction of the original 18 holes of the 27-hole golf course at the private North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif. Every feature and component of the Valley and Oaks courses has been reimagined by Jackson Kahn Design. Enhancements include: tee-to-green layout changes with fair challenges for all levels of play; new greens ranging from 3,400 to 11,000-plus sq. ft.; and Sand-soil mixtures optimizing moisture characteristics and drainage. Rob and Phil highlighted a groundbreaking ceremony for a new golf clubhouse being constructed as part of a new, master-planned resort-style new home community located on Lake Anna in Louisa County, Va. The fully-built development is expected to contribute significantly to Louisa County's economy, with an estimated annual impact of $6.5 million. This figure includes $5 million from property taxes and more than $1.5 million from transient occupancy taxes. Additionally, the project will generate more than 200 full-time jobs and 150 construction and skilled trade positions during the development phase.

I'm a firm believer in Miri's favorite quote from David Attenborough, "No one will protect what they don't care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced". So many folks never see the real Florida, and for Miri, it took birds on the beach to draw her inland to see a side of Florida not often featured in the brochures. Miri is unique in that she had the curiosity and gumption to push herself to understand the complex and beautiful ecosystems deeper into the lesser-known Florida interior. After experiencing the magic wild Florida had to offer she wanted others to see its beauty too. That interest and desire to get involved led her to be the first executive director of Friends of Myakka River. Come visit Miri and myself at the REI Sarasota grand opening this weekend. Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Skunk Ape, Hairy Man and now Ci'Tonga! CiTonga is the Omaha Tribe name for Bigfoot. The legend and reality of a large, hairy, bipedal primate walking among us has captivated the world even earlier than the famous Patterson/Gimlin footage from 1967. Is it a forgotten race of humans, a creature that co-existed alongside us, hidden from human perception, or beings that defy the nature of our 3-D world that can slip in and out of our reality, undetected?Filmmaker and researcher Stacy Brown Jr joins me to discuss his work on 2 amazing new projects, Ci'Tonga: Bigfoot, Spirits & Faith which explores Bigfoot sightings and interactions on Tribal land and in the second half of the show, The Skunk Ape Experiments where a team is deeply entrenched in Myakka city, Florida on a Skunk Ape investigation like you've never seen.Check out Ci'Tonga: Bigfoot, Spirits & Faith on www.ParaFlixx.com and try their free 30 Day Trial!Follow Stacy and his other work at: https://outkastparanormal.com/THIS FRIDAY JAN 13-15th, 2023 see Dave Live at www.TheFearFaire.comMARCH 2023 join Dave Schrader& Shane Pittman for Ghosts of Savannah tour and investigations: https://bit.ly/3W1GH9sThe Paranormal 60 with Dave Schrader - Ci'Tonga & The Skunk Ape Experiments with Stacy Brown JrSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Welcome to season 4! We are on the road this week as we travel to the Florida Keys. Along the way, we tour the only International Towing Museum in the world that happens to be in Tennessee before we head off on an expedition through the Myakka River State Park which is home to not only alligators but other wild creatures. Lastly, we drive on a highway that crosses open waters and is near an island.
This week we look at this swamp ape with a bad temper. In the muddy south there is what seem to be a slightly different primate then a traditional Sasquatch in the America's. The Skunk Ape, known for its love of the water, signature white mark on the back, horrible smell, smaller size then typical Bigfoot and their renowned bad attitude! And we take a look at what is without a doubt the most famous pictures of a Skunk Ape ever taken the "Myakka photos". These pictures are claimed to have been take and summited to the police by an elderly woman that claimed over a few nights that the creature was coming up and stealing apple from her back porch, she never claimed this animal to be a Skunk Ape but was just worried about what she referred to as the "orangutan" was a danger to her and her grandchildren and just wanted the sheriff department to look into it. There is so much debate on this picture due to scaling and other factors, but most seem to agree that it's a living thing in the photo. So, join us this week on our swamp adventure! If you have a story or would like to be featured on the show follow us on Facebook, twitter, Patreon, Instagram and Tik Tok at Cryptids of the Corn or email us at hardinbigfoot@gmail.com. Stay Magical.
Carol Felts is an 8th generation Floridian, longtime Myakka resident, citizen activist, and grassroots candidate for the Manatee County Commission. TBT's Dawn Kitterman also drops by to talk about her reporting on a county employee pay issue, which ruffled a lot of political feathers.
Join us around the Campfire as the Southern flavor continues. This week's topics include the mystery Myakka photographs, which allegedly show a Skunk Ape in someone's backyard and the Stacy Brown Jr. thermal video. Happy Tuesday. This is Elliot lane with Ben Zynga hosting your cannabis daily show every day at 10:00 AM here. Thanks to Aaron Thomas for producing and bending for the platform. There was a ton of cannabis news this morning. I do want to call out. I was watching morning, Joe, on MSNBC talking about the science behind cannabis products and what cannabis companies claim in their products.I recommend checking that out. Not necessarily the most positive report, but not necessarily damning either. So with that being said perhaps look that up, but let's dive into the news. There is plenty of it today. Beginning with the letter, a Aurora cannabis AC B delivers a around a $10 million shipment of medical cannabis to Israel. This is their largest ever to the country and what they believe per their press release to be the largest export it to the country. Ever super interesting. So ACB, obviously trying to plant their flag in the ground and what seems to be a relatively busy market at the moment with some big players, such as Intercare and with partnerships such as cookies and Charlotte's web and others.Another letter a here didn't have the best 2021, but they're starting strong this year. They enter into a ten-year agreement with gold leaf for its turnkey solution. And so we'll bring $140 million in revenue expected in the first three years. And over the entire 10 years, around $400 million in revenue, gold leaf is a medical treatment center in bear with me Myakka, M Y a K a Florida gold leaf is Poland. To open 20 dispensaries in the state by 2024. So this could definitely turn into a major deal for the likes of AgriFood marijuana moment. One of my favorite sites for legislative news definitely recommend subscribing to their newsletter. Kentucky Democrats are prioritizing medical cannabis as a top legislative priority for 2022 props to my Kentucky IM brethren over there, Virginia. Not overturn the legalization of marijuana possession, so great news there. However, he is sending mixed signals and appears to potentially be creating obstacles for commercial cannabis sales, to launch so bad news for the likes of juicy and not necessarily bad news, but I would say. For companies such as Jewishy and others who have planted their flag in the Virginia market, this is not something you want to see.Columbia care and others stocks that closed up yesterday. The market of course, had a decent day yesterday and cannabis stocks followed it. There were several that saw a great day and only about three that I could find that had a not so good day. But the good ones included Hexo Tilray Medis. I'm sorry, not mad.Med men, which was a surprise to me up five and a half percent, Aurora cannabis and canopy growth, both up around six, six and a half percent sundial and Cronos group, both up around 7%. Why CBD, which is CBD MD up around 9%. And Tega. That is the green organic Dutchman of around 15%. Somebody liked that one. So positive news there, especially at scenes on the Canadian and international front Whitney Tilson names, advisor shares popular cannabis, ETF, M S O S, or MSS as a favorite pick for 2022 foreign investors. However, it is of course, dependent upon the chain. And any change for that matter to us regulations. So super interesting there MSLs saw a nice spike in volume and share price at the end of last year, but then unfortunately it reversed the wrong way there TG. F that is 1933 industries announced our Q1 2022 earnings. The revenues were just under $2 million, which is a slight drop year over year, I think around 8% and expenses, however, saw a 45% drop year over year.So they are. Seemingly getting ahead of this. However, Nevada is becoming a more and more competitive market. So it'll be interesting to see how aggressive they are in 2020 to advance flower capital that's AFCG on the NASDAQ reports, 125 and a half million dollars of gross funding last year. The full year of 2021.So about 302 and a half million dollars in funding. Big one for the day. In my opinion, for a growth Corp that's F L G C on the NASDAQ expands its mind. Natural skincare product blind to walmart.com and Kapil stores in Mexico. There are 12 products in the portfolio. Overall Koppel has around 1,200. 53 stores in Mexico. The stock was up 21% this morning. So really nice work with those partnerships with Louise, Evan, and team over there. Another big one, I think at least for the industry as a whole less investible information here, but if you are. Aware of events in the space. MJ biz puts on what I would probably consider to be the largest. And they were acquired by Emerald holdings or Emerald X, which is a New York based B2B event and media company for $120 million plus potential earn-outs. So congratulations to that team over the. R E F I refi, which is the Chicago Atlantic group. A REIT in the cannabis industry announces itself to be the sole lender for a new senior secured credit facility for med farms, which is a vertically integrated SSO or single state operator in the state of Michigan, a very good market med farms, some solid revenue for a private, single state opera operator going up against the likes of gage and sky mins and several others in a busy yet big.Scott's miracle grow. That's SMG, their subsidiary Hawthorne expands its portfolio with acquisitions of Lux lighting and true Liberty bags. So continuing to buckle down with Hawthorne as they move into the new year. So of course, a busy day cannabis stocks starting off strong for the year. Let's hope they can keep that momentum at least for a while. But for growth Corp is the. Big winner for me today, F LGC as well as MSOX getting a shout out from Whitney Tilson. This is Elliot lane with cannabis daily. Hope this starts off your day, right? In this episode, I tell the story of taking my daughter to Florida for the first time, to see if it was a place she might want to live. We walked on heavenly beaches in Clearwater, failed a Forest Gump quiz miserably in Daytona, drove through some neighborhoods that were awesome, and some that were not. We had a surprise meetup in Orlando, went on an alligator hunt in Myakka, flew through Pandora on a banshee, watched the perfect sunset in Venice, and found ourselves amidst a surprise drag show during an amazing lunch on Tampa Bay. Today I’m going to take you along for a recap of sorts, and share some stories while giving you some good information about the state and areas within it.

In this podcast, Herald-Tribune senior reporter Billy Cox talks with topics editor Lee Williams about his "Python Man" story, which focuses on Dusty Crum, a Sarasota native who hunts invasive pythons in the Everglades with his bare hands (and bare feet) and stars in "Guardians of the Glades" on the Discovery Channel.
A couple weeks ago my daughter and I set out to explore different places in Florida to see if it was a place she might want to live.

Interview with Ed's mom & dad - (25:51)Ed's mom & dad (Bonnie & Bruce) live in The Villages which is about 3 hours north of Sarasota, so WHY are we interviewing them? Lois contacted Jo Mooy (www.starsoundings.com) after reading her message of hope in "Spirit of Ma'at" this month. With so many "spiritual leaders" predicting doom and gloom, her positivity resonated. Lois says,"We must focus on what we want, not on what we don't want!"--- Here is what Jo says: "The southwestern portion of Florida, stretching from Tampa Bay to the Everglades is in a protected field called 'the forbidden zone.' Meteorologists and scientists say the shape of the coastline, the ocean bottom configuration, and the prevailing winds tend to create upwelling currents that take water away from the coastline. Some scientists also refer to the Tampa Bay area as a "bubble of protection." ...the scientific reports indicate that this area is at "minimal risk of receiving surface oil." However, recent probes indicate that massive plumes of oil exist beneath the surface. Southwestern Florida is still prey to the onshore flow of oil if the plumes become entrained in the Loop Current. So our prayerful focus for positive solutions continues. Prism of Light 2008! Bubble of Protection 2010! Do you remember when our community created a Prism of Light on the summer solstice of 2008? Working with the natural protection of this region which was known to the native peoples, 222 of us came together at high noon to set an "ethereal diamond-shaped prism" under a "bubble of light" stretching 65 square miles from Holmes Beach in the north, to Warm Mineral Springs in the south, the Gulf in the west and Myakka in the east. Energy follows intention. Thought, followed by word and action, creates form. It appears the "forbidden zone" or "bubble of protection" that we ethereally created is now made manifest to the scientific community in their recent findings. Our continued work with the Water Blessings and other sacred gatherings will not only protect and preserve our area, but rebalance the conditions now prevalent. We're the ones we've been waiting for!"
