(Dedicated to my nephew Jon and my son Luke) Have you ever wondered why men find self-care so hard to access? And have you ever wished your own man had better self-care routines of his own? That's the theme of this week's interview with the awesome Ted Phaeton. But first I couldn't resist sharing a popular blog I did back in 2012 that is written especially for my male readers about why women cry for no reason. This show features the wonderful host of a really inspiring podcast I discovered, No Rain…No Rainbows. Ted Phaeton is not only a highly successful, Emmy award-winning Fox meteorologist, he leads empowerment groups for men. And I love that! Why limit your gifts—or your success to just one channel? I asked Ted every question I could think of when it pertains to men and their self-care, and among other things I learned: How he found his way into empowerment work Why men get defensive about self-care What self-care has to do with our potential What he learned about social acceptance from high school football Ted's ulcerative colitis parable How his own self-care discovery got him on TV He even concludes this wonderful conversation with a shout out to all the men listening—and an invitation to think about something important. I hope you enjoy our chat as much as I do. It takes grit to cover the morning weather, like award-winning broadcast meteorologist Amy Sweezey did for 25 years. For starters, she set her alarm for 2 AM every morning in order to clock in for the 4:30 AM news. It also takes grit to work on a book project for almost twenty years. Named "Broadcaster of the Year" by the National Weather Association in 2018, Amy had a vision to educate children on the weather. In this episode, Melissa and Dave interview Amy on her book writing and self-publishing journey. You'll come away motivated to stick with your vision and to stay the course.
