On this week's episode of The MacRumors Show, we discuss Apple's surprise announcement of the AirPods Max 2 this week.The ‌AirPods Max 2‌ introduce a range of improvements primarily driven by the addition of Apple's H2 chip, which replaces the H1 chip used in previous models. This new chip underpins most of the upgrades, enabling more advanced computational audio and significantly enhancing the overall listening experience.One of the most notable improvements is Active Noise Cancellation, which Apple says is up to 1.5x more effective than before, making the headphones better suited to noisy environments such as travel. Transparency mode is also refined, with more natural-sounding ambient audio and improved clarity when hearing voices and surroundings.The H2 chip also facilitates a suite of new adaptive listening features. Adaptive Audio dynamically adjusts the balance between noise cancellation and environmental sound depending on your surroundings, while Conversation Awareness automatically lowers playback and enhances nearby voices when you begin speaking. Personalized Volume builds on this by learning your listening preferences over time and adjusting volume levels accordingly. In addition, Voice Isolation has been improved, helping to prioritize your voice during calls and reduce background noise more effectively.Audio quality is enhanced with a new high dynamic range amplifier and updated signal processing. These changes should result in more consistent bass, clearer midrange, more natural vocals, and improved separation of instruments. Spatial Audio has also been refined, offering more accurate sound placement and a more coherent soundstage.Wireless performance sees an upgrade with support for Bluetooth 5.3, which reduces latency compared to the previous generation. Alongside audio improvements, several new features have been added, including Live Translation powered by Apple Intelligence, the ability to use the Digital Crown as a camera remote for taking photos or controlling video recording, and expanded Siriinteractions, including hands-free activation without "Hey ‌Siri‌" and gesture-based responses.Despite these updates, several core aspects remain unchanged. The design, materials, and overall form factor are identical to earlier versions, battery life remains at up to 20 hours with noise cancellation enabled, and the headphones continue to use the same Smart Case. Pricing is also unchanged at $549.‌AirPods Max 2‌ will be available to order on Apple.com and in the Apple Store app starting Wednesday, March 25 in the U.S. and more than 30 other countries, and they launch on an unspecified day in early April.

En este episodio vamos a hablar de los nuevos AirPods Max 2, los auriculares over‑ear más avanzados del ecosistema Apple, pensados para quienes quieren llevar la experiencia de audio al siguiente nivel, tanto para música, cine, juegos como para productividad. Apple mantiene el diseño icónico de los Max, pero introduce cinco nuevos colores —medianoche, blanco estrella, azul, púrpura y naranja— con una construcción en aluminio anodizado, diadema de malla transpirable y almohadillas de espuma viscoelástica diseñadas para ofrecer comodidad durante horas y un aislamiento acústico muy superior. En sonido, los AirPods Max 2 llegan superpotenciados con el chip H2, un nuevo amplificador de alto rango dinámico y un transductor diseñado a medida que prometen audio de alta fidelidad con graves más profundos, medios naturales y agudos muy precisos, además de una escena sonora más amplia en la que es más fácil localizar instrumentos y voces. La ecualización adaptativa se ha rediseñado para ajustar el sonido en tiempo real según el ajuste de las almohadillas y la forma de la oreja, utilizando micrófonos internos para analizar lo que realmente estás escuchando. Además, al conectarlos por USB‑C al dispositivo, ofrecen audio sin pérdida y latencia ultrabaja en contenidos compatibles, orientado tanto a disfrutar de música y cine “tal y como se concibieron” como a juegos más inmersivos. En cuanto a cancelación de ruido, dan un salto importante: la cancelación activa ahora es hasta 1,5 veces mayor que en los AirPods Max originales, apoyada en nuevos algoritmos de audio computacional que reducen aún más el ruido externo. A esto se suma el audio adaptativo, que ajusta automáticamente el nivel de cancelación y sonido ambiente según el entorno –desde una oficina silenciosa hasta una cafetería llena–, además de un modo de sonido ambiente accesible con el botón dedicado. El audio espacial personalizado con seguimiento dinámico de la cabeza sigue presente, convirtiendo series, películas y juegos en una experiencia estilo cine con sonido que llega desde todas direcciones. Las funciones inteligentes son uno de los grandes titulares: incluyen Traducción en Tiempo Real gracias a Apple Intelligence (con iPhone compatible), lo que permite traducir al vuelo lo que dice otra persona manteniendo pulsado el botón de modo de escucha. También integran Detección de Conversación, que baja el volumen automáticamente y realza las voces cercanas cuando empezamos a hablar, y lo restablece cuando dejamos de conversar. Otras funciones como Reducción de Sonidos Fuertes y Volumen Personalizado aprenden de tu entorno para ajustar el volumen y proteger el oído sin sacrificar calidad de sonido. Por precio, en España se sitúan en 579 €, posicionándose claramente en la gama alta de auriculares over‑ear, compitiendo no solo con marcas tradicionales de hi‑fi sino con el resto de la gama AirPods, desde los AirPods 4 a los AirPods Pro 3.
