Decisions are a part of life. Most of us will make a list, weigh the pros and cons, and decide how to proceed. For some, however, decision-making is paralyzing. They may go through the same pro and con analysis, but then they worry about making the wrong decision or disappointing themselves, someone else, or even God. Often, people who find it challenging to make a decision will make no decision, which can result in an even bigger mess. Too often, we see our relationship with God as too fragile to withstand disappointing Him. In some situations, our decisions can alter the course of our lives; however, our relationship with God is not a pass/fail. If we make a wrong choice, the path back to God is one simple step. That one step toward an alter can change the direction, but making that step can be difficult. The enemy wants us to believe everyone is watching and picking out our flaws. In our text, Jesus enters the synagogue. The Pharisees knew why Jesus was there and attempted to entrap Him by asking if it was lawful to heal on the Sabbath. Jesus refutes their trap and asks the man to stretch out his hand. All there knew of his condition. This man may have been active in the church and doing his best with his good hand. Many of us in this situation may have extended the good hand because we are ashamed of the withered one, but Jesus wanted to heal the withered one. We may be doing good work with what we have. We may serve in many capacities, but Jesus wants to make us whole so we can do good works with both hands. We are all caught between the urge to hide our brokenness and the call to be healed. Will we keep holding back or respond to the master when He calls?

TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. IT'S GENERALLY SAID THAT IN EVERY CHALLENGE/PROBLEM THERE IS AN OPPORTUNITY. AND AGAIN, ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD. WHEN RICHES AND WEALTH ARE GIVEN THE WRONG MEANING, ACQUIRED FOR THE WRONG MOTIVE AND WRONGLY PUT TO USE, THEY BECOME VESSELS OF EMPOVERISHMENT. ON THE OTHER HAND, WHEN CHALLENGES AND CIRCUMSTANCES THAT PUT US AT A DISADVANTAGED SITUATION IS RIGHTLY UNDERSTOOD AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF, THEY TURN OUT TO BE WEAPONS FOR ATTAINING RICHES AND WEALTH. HOW YOU END IN LIFE IS NEVER A FUNCTION OF WHOM YOU'RE NOW, WHAT YOU'VE NOW AND WHERE YOU'RE NOW BUT A FUNCTION OF THE USE YOU MAKE OF WHOM YOU'RE NOW, WHAT YOU'VE NOW AND WHERE YOU'RE NOW. Kindly listen to today's episode of my podcast for details of today's homily. For multiple Grammy, CMA, ACM Award-winning producer Keith Stegall, music has always been his life, strongly influenced by his dad, 1950s Abbott Records recording artist, Bob Stegall. The elder Stegall also played steel guitar for the legendary country singer Johnny Horton. Born in the central Texas town of Wichita Falls and raised in Shreveport (the home of the Louisiana Hayride, a stage his father often graced) the Stegalls were constantly playing and writing songs on guitars and the piano. It was by chance he met another famous Texan, Kris Kristofferson, who inspired Keith to move to Music City. “Show me what you've got!” Kris told Keith backstage at a Kristofferson show. Keith played a couple songs, which prompted Kristofferson to remark, “Son, you need to get your ass to Nashville and hang out with other writers. They will break you down and make you the best you can be.” Keith took the advice to heart and three months after his arrival in 1978, Keith co-wrote his first hit, Dr. Hooks' 1980 smash Sexy Eyes. Soon after, Helen Reddy, The Commodores, Johnny Mathis, and many others rushed to record Keith's songs. Most notable was Al Jarreau's career hit We're In This Love Together. Eventually Keith signed a record deal with Capitol Records and later Epic Records. He released a pair of albums in the early 1980s with minor chart success. “Because I grew up in the studio,” Keith recalls, “the mistake I made was that they told me to produce myself.” The upside, he says, was he learned how to produce other artists by producing himself. In the midst of trying to get his own artist career off the ground, a struggling nightclub singer named Randy Ray asked Keith to produce an independent album to sell at his local gigs. The project led to Keith producing the standout songs On The Other Hand and Reasons I Cheat on the singer's epochal debut, “Storms of Life,” under the singer's new moniker… Randy Travis. THE TERMS VISION AND PURPOSE ARE OFTEN USED INTERCHANGEABLY, BUT THERE IS AN IMPORTANT DISTINCTION BETWEEN THEM. VISION IS THE OVERALL GOAL OR DESIRED OUTCOME OF A PROJECT OR ORGANIZATION. IT IS THE BIG PICTURE OF WHAT THE ORGANIZATION WANTS TO ACHIEVE IN THE LONG TERM. IT IS THE REASON WHY THE ORGANIZATION EXISTS. PURPOSE, ON THE OTHER HAND, IS THE SPECIFIC REASON FOR DOING SOMETHING. IT IS THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION OR PROJECT, THE ACTIONABLE STEPS THAT WILL HELP IT ACHIEVE ITS VISION. IT IS THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND THE ORGANIZATION AND ITS ACTIVITIES. THEREFORE, VISION CAN BE DEFINED AS THE LONG-TERM GOAL OF AN VISIONARY INITIATIVE WHILE PURPOSE IS THE ACTIONABLE STEPS TAKEN TO REACH THAT GOAL. THE PURPOSE IS THE ACTION THAT WILL BRING THE VISION TO LIFE. WITHOUT A VISION, THE PURPOSE IS MEANINGLESS. LIFE IS ABOUT SERVICE. GOD CREATED EVERYTHING, INCLUDING MAN, TO BE AN INSTRUMENT OF MINISTRY UNTO HIM. THE MORE WE UNDERSTAND WHAT WE ARE DESIGNED TO SERVE, THE GREATER OUR LIVES BECOME EVEN MORE RELEVANT, SUCCESSFUL, AND FULFILLING. EVERYTHING WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING SERVES A PURPOSE. THE QUESTION, HOWEVER, IS, WHO'S PURPOSE IS IT SERVING? YOU MIGHT SERVE A PURPOSE THAT BRINGS GLORY TO GOD, OR A PURPOSE THAT BRINGS GLORY TO THE SELF-LIFE, INDIRECTLY SERVING THE PRINCE OF THIS WORLD WHO IS THE DEVIL. GOD CREATED EVERYTHING TO SERVE A DEFINITE PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE ORDER OF CREATION REVOLVES AROUND A SPECIFIC PURPOSE, OR ELSE, THE ORBITAL ORDER OF LIFE WOULD BE DISORDERLY AND CHAOTIC, TO SAY THE LEAST. PURPOSE SPEAKS INTO THE PROPER WAY AND ORDER OF HOW PEOPLE AND THINGS SHOULD FUNCTION EFFICIENTLY, EFFECTIVELY, AND PRODUCTIVELY. AS WE HAVE SAID, PURPOSE IS NOT VISION. VISION, HOWEVER, INFORMS AND DRIVES PURPOSE TOWARDS EFFECTIVE FUNCTIONALITY. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/isaiah-phillips-akintola/message
“I'm feeling depressed / anxious/ lacking motivation….” These are the words I usually get in my DM's when someone finally gets the courage to reach out… And while I have a background in counseling ( a requirement to become an ordained minister ) And while many clients have told me they get more out of our sessions than they do in therapy ( hey when you got it , you got it ) I'm still not a licensed Therapist nor do I have a degree in Psychology. ON THE OTHER HAND… not everybody needs to spend years in therapy… Not everyone will be able to connect with a stranger they didn't choose And some people may want someone that can be real and RAW AF with them who's been through hell and back and is still someone sane and thriving. David and Helen are joined by Politico's chief Europe correspondent Matthew Karnitschnig to explore the consequences of the German elections. Who were the real winners and losers? Are there lessons for centre-left parties in other countries, including the Labour Party in Britain? And what are the choices facing Germany as it decides on its place in an increasingly unstable world? Plus we ask whether this was a Covid election. If not, why not?Talking Points:What was surprising about the German elections? To expect something is different from seeing it actually happen.Do campaigns make a difference to election outcomes? In this case, it looks like it did. It was pretty clear that Laschet was a poor candidate.Laschet's response to the floods was a turning point.Scholz prevailed because of his experience—he isn't perceived as a change candidate. The SPD base has moved to the left, but Scholz is more of a centrist. The CDU, on the other hand, was much less stable. Most German voters wanted change, and yet it is the continuity Merkel candidate who is most likely to become the next chancellor. This reflects grand coalition politics. Merkel pushed the Christian Democrats into the space of the Social Democrats. But the initiative to form this government is coming from the change parties: the Greens and the FDP. The parties seem to believe that their differences are bridgeable. The two smaller parties are more popular among younger people. Change might be driven from below. The larger party only has about 26 percent; this gives the other parties more leverage. What kind of change would be embraced by both the FDP and the Greens? To say something is possible necessarily implies that something else is possible. Right? Possible and possibly not, How do we best lay the groundwork for our most hoped-for possibilities to flourish?
Atención a It's About To Get Western, su nuevo álbum. I have a fraught relationship with Amazon. On the one hand, they provide a facility for me to publish my books (including my poetry books. Ahem) and also get pretty much whatever I realize I need with a few swipes and taps while also donating a tiny bit of that purchase back to an organization for which I care. ON THE OTHER HAND, Amazon exploits people via horrible working conditions and my consumer habits are funding the second-coolest billionaire rocket out there when he could be putting a good chunk of that money into any number of social programs, soooooooooooooooo But when I leave product reviews, I like to do them in the form of poems, because duh. Thus this week's poem. Hey, you know the drill: I want to hear what you think of the podcast, whether it's a specific poem or the format, or whatever's on your mind! There seem to be 2 main extremes when it comes to mental health. ON ONE HAND, the Church has often shied away from talking about mental health and, instead, communicates that you should just get healing/breakthrough in Christ. This can be harmful and often leaves believers feeling guilty for “not praying hard enough” or not “having faith” to overcome real battles with mental health. ON THE OTHER HAND, our current culture is telling us that if we struggle anxiety/depression we just need to accept that it's just the way you are and live with it, simply learning coping mechanisms. This can also be damaging because it can cause us to take on these mental health issues as part of our identity. In this episode, Caris Snider, a Christian mental health advocate, discusses what it looks like to battle mental health in partnership with Jesus. She recognizes how real anxiety and depression are, while also expressing what freedom in Christ can look like. If you want to be part of this conversation, listen now! THIS CHAPTER IS CALLED "THE TYPES OF PEOPLE". THROUGHOUT HISTORY, THOUSANDS OF HUMANS HAVE EXISTED ON THIS EARTH WHICH HAD NAME, CULTURE, FAMILY AND A HISTORY. FOR THESE FACTORS THERE ARE THE TYPES OF PEOPLE, WHICH ARE; THE GOOD PEOPLE, THE PEOPLE WHO TRIED TO BE GOOD, THE BAD PEOPLE, THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T TRY ANYTHING, AND THE PEOPLE WHO NEED HELP. EACH PERSON WITH THE EVENTS OF THEIR LIFE CORRESPONDS TO THEIR ACTIONS THAT DEPENDS A LOT ON LOVE, ON EDUCATION AND ON WHAT THE WORLD TEACHES THEM, EITHER A LIFE WITH HAPPINESS OR VICE VERSE. I WANT TO TRANSMIT THAT WHAT THIS LIFE HAS SHOWED ME IS THAT EVERYTHING CAN IMPROVE AND YOU CAN BELIEVE OR NOT IN GOD, BUT HUMANS WANT TO IMPROVE. AND IT MAY BE VERY DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE, BUT SOMEONE'S WAY OF BEHAVIOR DEPENDS ON THE HAPPINESS THAT THEY GIVEN THEM, BECAUSE MOST OF THE OCCASIONS PEOPLE WHO ACHIEVED EVERYTHING IN LIFE ARE NOT HAPPY, ON THE OTHER HAND, PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE NOTHING IS ANNOYING WITH LIFE, FOR THIS IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THINK THAT IT MAKES YOU HAPPY, BUT WITHOUT HARMING OTHERS, LISTEN AND LOVE, ELIMINATE EVIL AND THRIVE TO BE HAPPY. Part of Frédéric Chopin's correspondence has been lost. Nevertheless, hundreds of pages of letters from the pen of the Polish composer have been handed down. Many are full of declarations of love, especially his numerous letters to Tytus Woyciechowski. So far, Chopin's relationship with the emancipated and free-spirited female writer George Sand has been described - and glorified. Only the famous journey to the then exotic Mallorca reads quite differently in the writings of Chopin and Sand: Sand writes that it was a torture for her, and anguish for him. The homoerotic relationships that Frédéric Chopin had with men, on the other hand, are little known to this day. Even in the most recent biographies they are hardly mentioned or are reinterpreted. And even recent translations of his Polish letters contain mistranslations in the relevant places. A great journey through the private life of Frédéric Chopin in two parts.

Welcome to Hope City Church! NEW If you are new to Hope City text “HCNEW” to 33777 SERMON GUIDE "On The Other Hand" by Pastor Ethan Boggs of Storyside Church Mark 3:1-5 NKJV "And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand. 2 So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. 3 And He said to the man who had the withered hand, “Step forward.” 4 Then He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent. 5 And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other." Have you ever lived between two hands? What has withered in your life over time? Withered people are welcome. God will not heal what we continue to hide. “I wished I lived a life true to myself and not what others expected of me” Essentialism by Greg McKeown I want you to take a moment to close your in your 80s or 90s- or maybe your already there. Imagine you are having a conversation with your children, or niece or sister or brother. You think you've lived a great but now the pressure's on. What life lessons, if any, do you have to share with them? It is here it dawns on you that the most important thing your loved one needs to hear is not all that you've accomplished but how to not make the same mistakes you did. In other words, they need to know how to best make it through this life and God is using YOUR VOICE to help this person. This is your destiny. Don't get me wrong, your accomplishments are special and unique and worthy noting, but the key to helping others lies in the internal hope that you provide them. At the end of the day, this hope is what will give them accomplishment anyway. Are there any regrets in your life? What do you wish you would have done better? Ask yourself. Is living in my comfort zone worth living in regret? We know that anything great, was never achieved overnight. Instead, it takes trial and error, patience, and time. But it will not always be comfortable. Do we want comfortable or do we want progress? Have you achieved everything you want to achieve? Are you fulfilled on the inside? Are you learning from you mistakes. Are you happy? These are the things that will help us to live a fulfilled life, not free of problems, but free of regret. Because, hey, you tried, and you are learning and growing. God did not design us to have a miserable life. That is actually the enemy's objective. Most of the time the enemy does a good job because we allow him too. But God has a good plan if we allow Him to work. I have designed you for good works prepared in advance.” “For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 We were saved by grace-which is a gift from God- we were created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared for us to do. When you are living with regrets, you are not doing the good works God prepared for you to do…if you were you would be at peace. Living a regret-free life means doing the things that light your soul on fire. If what your “life” involves hurting others-the very act of hurting others means you are not within the will of God and you must find your soul and your identity in Christ before you find your purpose. But, if your intentions are good and you give credit to your Creator then you must live with intention. In my own life, of course I wished I didn't waste so many years doing stupid stuff…but If I died tomorrow I would have no regrets because Today I try to become a better person. So, do I regret drinking, and partying in my 20s? No. Why? Because that experiences were warning signs and I answered the call. I woke up. WE ALL DO STUPID STUFF. It's our ability to pick ourselves up and move…to change for the better..that will set us on the right course and live a life free of regrets. To live a life truly free of regrets we must discover who we are in Christ..the mistakes will come but as we come to know God we discover that we are not our mistakes but we are who God says we our…then we discover our God-given purpose, our perspective shifts. What about the man or woman that didn't know God and was fatally shot? Do you think that had regrets? We will never know because they are dead. This is what you and I have to get…all we have is today. Today to try. Today to shift our focus so that we have the chance for change so that when and if we make it to 80 we can tell of Christ instead of pondering on our mistakes. Job, Joseph, Paul ..all the greats in the Bible lived incredibly fulfilling…not easy…but fulfilling lives because they never quit when the going gets tough…they completed their calling and their lives are a testimony to the greatness of God. Which is the point of our lives… God wants us to live a life that is reflective of Him. And in that we find joy. What we have is today. You listening to my voice is your sign/motivation that today you can choose to learn from your past. – pick yourself up and intentionally choose to do the things that bring you joy. I would have never known what brought me true joy until I discovered the things that were destroying me. I thought maybe drinking would bring me joy, I thought perhaps partying would bring me joy but all these things were short-lived and served as a cover-up for the better potential within me. Brainstorm- In what area do you need to grow? The easiest way to live a regret-free life is to a.) do the things that bring you joy, b.) Live intentionally (we can't just drift through life or our purpose may pass us by), and c.) learn and move on from you mistakes. Where is your focus today? Are you focusing on worldly things? Or, is your focus on God. Because what we focus on will grow. So, if we are focusing on Facebook, negativity, or our bad emotions, the current crisis of the world- this will never be enough. Why? Because these things are not fulfilling and therefore we will certainly have regrets. ON THE OTHER HAND, what if you choose to focus on God who is good, who knows your purpose. God who is for you and not against you? Scripture “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 First off, if you don't know God please invite Him into your heart today. Then you will have The Holy Spirit to guide you in Truth… What's the Holy Spirit's purpose?? To guide you and direct your path…to ensure that you have NO REGRETS. WARNING: Expect for your mind to wonder because if you're doing something good for God-the enemy will always try and trip you up. Thankfully we have God who and His Holy Spirit that will direct us back on course. Remember God uses all things for the good and that means your current situation, that very thing you are wondering about. I must confess I stress about my purpose all the time – These horrible invading thoughts especially when I start to make progress. DO I GIVE IN TO THESE THOUGHTS..WELL. MAYBE I START TO ..BUT I QUICKLY RECOGNIZE THESE THOUGHTS DO NOT SERVE ME OR OTHERS FOR THE BETTER..SO I CAST THEM DOWN. But what's the alternative? I don't like the alternative. The alternative frustrates men and is non-fulfilling. My challenge for you today is to strive for something more. TO NOT JUST DO MORE, BUT TO BE MORE. Maybe you need to start a new project— WELL BEING MORE WOULD INVOLVE STARTING A NEW PROJECT BUT BELEIVING IN YOURSELF OR ASKING GOD FOR HELP. Because we know that nothing great was achieved overnight but we welcome slow progress rather than overnight success because we are seeking to find true everlasting fulfillment that can only come from the one True Source of Joy Jesus Christ.Whatever it is start today and every day take one small action at a time ---working to achieve more, becoming a better person. Speaking of slow progress, when we don't get what we want when we want it, it would be beneficial to us to be a master at persistence. Many of the great men and woman in the Bible need persistence and patience. It's no different today that many of us need persistence and patience. So in the next episode PERSISTANCE is the star of the show. That's it! I hope you enjoyed today's episode. See you next time!
A devastating stroke in 2013 took the voice, and nearly the life, of superstar Randy Travis. In the few years prior, some of those closest to Randy had depleted his fortune and upended his career. Randy details his saga in his recent autobiography, "Forever and Ever, Amen: A Memoir of Music, Faith, and Braving the Storms of Life". This 2011 interview with Randy was his last extensive visit with Crook & Chase, and focused on the 25th anniversary of his debut album Storms of Life, that had ushered in a new, traditionalist era in country music. The album "Anniversary Celebration" features many of today's stars and legends singing with Randy on his biggest hits. Now, on the 35th anniversary of the July 29th, 1985 release of his first number one hit "On The Other Hand", Randy is releasing a never-before-heard recording called "A Fool's Love Affair". As you will hear, the love and friendship between Randy Travis and Lorianne and Charlie goes back to the very beginning as they all grew up together in Nashville's global country music scene. If I travel back a decade ago, I was helping underprivileged high school students get into college. I was a college access advisor and I managed a group of high school students, making sure they were passing their classes, applying to colleges, and basically being a mentor. I absolutely loved it and would probably still be doing something along these lines if it weren’t for Dynamic Duo Training. NOW, ERIC, ON THE OTHER HAND…. Your going to have to listen to our NEW podcast episode to find out

Google is a search engine. It's not a business owner, and it cannot teach you how to be a business owner. Be sure to Subscribe to the Show! Find much more TRUTH about ECommerce on my site. EPISODE TRANSCRIPT Welcome to Chris Malta's EBiz Insider Podcast, where you'll always hear the Truth about EBiz, even if it isn't as pretty as everybody else's lies. I spend a great deal of time teaching the ECommerce business to all kinds of people. Through my EBiz Insider Workshop, Educational material I've created, videos, podcasts, articles, EBooks and more. I've been doing that for most of the 25 years that I've been successful in online business. When I tell people about my Workshops, I tell them they can call me if they have questions about Workshop. I tell them that I answer my own phone, and I'll answer their questions. Most people's response to that is surprise. How could I possibly spend that much time answering the phone? After all, when I market my Workshops, those emails go out to a HUGE number of people. You might be surprised to learn that while I do get great response to the Workshops I've been running for 9 years now, I really don't get that many phone calls in advance. Why? Because people don't believe I'll actually answer the phone! Yes, they tell me that when they email me or come into the Workshop. They think that offer of a phone call is some sinister trick to get them to call into a sales floor so that some fast-talking salesperson can sell them a whole bunch of gargage. I understand why people think that way. Pretty much every marketer in the ECommerce space does exactly that when they offer a phone number. I don't play that stupid game. I answer my phone myself, and I answer people's questions. Anyway, the reason I mention it is because when I do get calls, SOMETIMES it's really obvious that I'm talking to someone who thinks Google can teach them ECommerce. These are people who don't have questions about my Workshop specifically, like what do we discuss (we discuss EVERYTHING!), will they get to ask questions (of course they will), and so on. No, the people I'm talking about start asking me a laundry list of questions about Ecommerce. Basically what they're saying is "What do I do first?" I'll tell them the first thing they need to do is set up a legal business before anything else. Then it's "What do I do next?" And I'll tell them they need to learn proper Market Research in order to figure out what to sell. Then it's "What's next?" And "What's after that?" And "Then what?" And all through that series of "what's next" questions they're asking, I can hear them typing on their keyboards in the background. I know what they're doing. These are people who are trying to get me to give them a step by step laundry list of the things they need to do to build an online business the right way. Then they figure they can type those steps into Google, read some random articles and blog posts, and set up a business successfully on their own without any help. People who do that are fooling themselves, and it's harmful. They're going to waste unbelieveable amounts of time trying to slog their way through all the bad information, fake tools, scams and other bogus E-blabber they're going to find in the search engines. I can tell you from long experience that this is a rabbit hole that'll take them YEARS to climb back out of. They will NEVER get a business going that way; not successfully. How do I know that? Because I've taught THOUSANDS of people the RIGHT way to build this business in my Workshops over the years, and HUNDREDS of those people have told me that they took a deep dive into that same 'self teaching' rabbit hole and spent years trying to find their way out. Google cannot teach you how to start and run a successful business! There are several reasons people do this, so let's talk about those for a minute. 1. They just got laid off, don't have the money to pay for real help, and need to start a business quickly to make money. If that's the case, they need to go look for a job, and quickly. No matter what the bubble-headed New-Ru's out there want you to think, this business is NOT fast, and it's NOT easy. It WILL take time, hard work and a good deal of learning. 2. They've been scammed in the past by the HUGE number of dirt-bag EBiz marketing thieves online, and refuse to ever trust anybody ever again. I understand that. Probably more than 90% of the people I've taught this business to have been cheated somewhere along the way, before they found my Workshop and other materials. They don't want to get scammed again, and they're resigned to just trying to figure it out themselves. 3. There are people out there who don't understand the value of real information. They believe all information should be FREE; they feel entitled to it, and think that just because search engines exist, everything you find there is real. I've been in business overall for over 40 years; since I was a young teenager. I've busted my butt to get where I am. I've lived through the learning curves, the successes AND the failures, and that 40-plus years of experience is something I paid DEARLY for. I've learned things in that time that you'll never find in the search engines or in all the books you can possibly read on the subject. All that experience and knowledge is tremendously valuable, because it allows me to teach people to cut through all the crap and get straight to the core of what they need to know to do this right. Learning how to start a business from a successful, experienced business owner is worth a LOT. Let's look at this another way. If you wanted to become a plumber, would you call a local plumbing company, ask a whole bunch of questions about how plumbing works, look up details on Google and then run around taking plumbing jobs? Of course not. The very first time you flood somebody's kitchen (which will likely be your very first plumbing job!) will be the END of that particular fantasy. ON THE OTHER HAND, if you go to SCHOOL for plumbing, who are you going to be learning from? A PLUMBER, that's who. Somebody who already knows the trade and has spent years working in it. Let's look at other examples. Who teaches people to be Doctors? Doctors do! Who teaches people to be Lawyers? Yep. Lawyers do. No matter what you want to do in life or in business, you learn it from someone who already knows how to do it. Google is a search engine. It's not a business owner, and it cannot teach you how to be a business owner. So, while you have to be EXTREMELY careful about who you listen to, please understand that free info on the search engines will never teach you how to build and run a business. When you're ready to learn how to do this, check out my FREE EBiz Insider Video Series at Chris Malta.com. Thanks for listening, and I'll catch you next time!

Recent and unfortunate devastation has hit Houston, Texas in the worst way! We are all wishing for a quick recovery to this horrific tragedy. The crew had a very in-depth discussion on this and how recovery should look. ON THE OTHER HAND, relief was NOT on the way for Connor McGregor! America gathered around their homies’ television to watch Floyd Mayweather pummel Conor McGregor live from Las Vegas. We can’t recall their ever being a fight with this much hype behind it. The victory over McGregor made him 50-0, breaking the 49-0 record of hall of fame fade deliverer Rocky Marciano. We say all that to say, the hype was BIG and apparently it paid off because according to Telegraph, the fight is estimated to gross $700 between pay-per-view sales and tickets. Relief is certainly on the way with this one! Rapper Wiz Khalifa has landed his own weed-themed show on Snoop Dogg’s marijuana media platform. The “Black and Yellow” hitmaker is fronting a new digital series which will combine elements of stunt show “Jackass” and fitness competition “American Ninja” Warrior for Merry Jane, a cannabis culture website. Can't wait for this one! Hate It Or Love It? Kim Kardashian West channeled Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis for a cover shoot that's on the receiving end of some harsh criticism on the internet. The reality star and her four-year-old daughter North are featured on the September cover of Interview Magazine with the headline "America's new first lady Kim Kardashian West and her daughter North West." Does The “Ho Phase” Get A Bad Rap? I'm not sure if there's much relief from this one, lol...it just, "is what it is". We also had a special guest in studio, singer/songwriter, Maya Milan. She is currently in a residency in Las Vegas with music legend, Keith Sweat. Check her out along with all her event updates at www.mayamilan.com and on social media @milanmodemusic. Don't worry, Wednesday will be here before you know it!
In this episode of On The Other Hand, Rabbi Jacobs is joined by April Baskin, URJ Vice President of Audacious Hospitality, to discuss the provocative text in Parashat B’haalot’cha when Miriam and Aaron talk behind Moses’s back about Moses marrying Tziporah, a Kushite woman. Listen to Rabbi Jacobs and April Baskin discuss this text, whether Judaism is colorblind, and where the North American Jewish community can do better by Jews of Color.
Oh man. Is there a better feeling than finding out you're right? The answer is yes. Because in this case it's helped hundreds of my clients and now not only am I right but also they get to reap the rewards. I'm referring to a 15-years study that broke this week and released years of data looking at mutual funds and their cost and benefits. This is HUGE because the far majority of my clients have 401K's composed of mutual funds and some simple, small changes will equal BIG long-term rewards. (I apologize for the cheesy walking-on-a-path-fading-in-the-distance investment metaphor photo.) First off financial basics. What are mutual funds? And am I invested in them? Obviously, we haven't met, but yes. Most people are invested in mutual funds. Mutual funds are a grouped collection of stocks. The thinking is simple: rather than investing in one company's success in the stock market, mutual funds allow you to diversify your portfolio and spread your investment/risk across many companies. but There's been a debate in the investment world between financial nerds over the years arguing if active mutual funds or passive mutual funds (index funds) yield the stronger return for clients. The debate is finally over. There is proof. A Deeper Look Before The Big Mutual Fund Reveal On The One Hand, You Have Active Mutual Funds Active mutual funds have professional investors on the payroll with the responsibility of choosing what to invest in and picking stocks they have researched. Real humans making your investment decisions. On The Other Hand, You Have Passive Mutual Funds (Index Funds) Passive mutual funds track a market index like the SMP 500 to buy and sell stocks without having to pay the salaries of professional. It's essentially a computer that runs algorithms to invest your money. A 15-year study just cemented which mutual fund investment is best... and it is... The Passive Mutual Funds! Passive Mutual Funds are the way to go. They win far more often over time (plus, they cost less.) The study showed that 82% of the top active funds trailed the passive benchmarks. Many people are invested in active funds. Are you? If your 401K investment is tracking an index it is passive - you're good. If your 401K investment reads "Large Cap A" or "Mid Cap A" it is active - you need to run. The financial nerds found proof that it costs more to invest in active mutual funds and it actually is not near as successful. It feels pretty great to see a long-term study support what we continual advise our partners. Now to stop patting our backs and see how we can help more people like you. Be sure you know exactly what you are paying for and why you are paying it! your 401k may need to be adjusted.
In Parashat Vayak’heil-P’kudei, the Israelites build the tabernacle in the middle of the desert, and because it is built from their heart, with their hands, the presence of God comes to dwell in that space. These days most of us don’t personally build our sacred spaces, so how do we make these spaces sacred? In this week’s episode of On The Other Hand, Rabbi Jacobs is joined by sacred space planner Father Dick Vosko. They discuss the past, present, and future of the places where we pray.
Don talks about having Vince Gill as a wingman, meeting his wife at a baseball game, inventing the “songwriters in the round”, hearing his song on The Muppet Show, songwriting advice, writing On The Other Hand with Paul Overstreet, Randy… Continue Reading →

Rich is coping with the imminent closure of the Tempting Tattie and with having had his second Celebrity Mastermind nightmare of the month, but luckily Simon Munnery is on hand to out Top Trump Rich on numbers of Fringes plus talk of what happens if you drink half a jar of Nescafe in one pint of water, Edinburgh feuds with unlikely foes, future movie stars falling face first into bowls of porridge, airships and what it's like to act as Banksy's lawyer. It's amazing stuff. And if that wasn't enough Matt Green is on hand for five minutes of stand-up and one lucky sinister fella is going to win a 25 Euro voucher to buy left-handed items at On The Other Hand - www.ontheotherhand.ie - if you come tomorrow you could win another one!
