De acordo com um estudo feito pela empresa Adelaide Metrics, os níveis de retenção de atenção da publicidade em áudio digital já são comparáveis aos da TV. É isso mesmo, a gente já está batendo de frente com o meio de publicidade mais tradicional de todos! E esses anúncios não só capturam a atenção dos ouvintes; eles também tendem a ser muito menos ignorados que as propagandas da TV. O que faz total sentido, já que a gente criou a cultura de usar o intervalo comercial da televisão pra fazer outras coisas, e com o áudio isso acaba não sendo necessário. Mas a pesquisa não parou só nesse comparativo, não. A publicidade em podcasts também foi colocada lado-a-lado com outros formatos de mídia, como banners, vídeos online e estáticos patrocinados. E, é claro, também saiu na frente em custo-benefício: o gasto mensal com publicidade em podcasts e no YouTube fica entre U$700 - U$900 dólares, enquanto pra se chegar aos mesmos resultados anunciando no Facebook, Reddit e TikTok, as marcas teriam que desembolsar de 2mil a U$2.700 dólares - em CADA plataforma. Ou seja, trocando os anúncios nas redes sociais por anúncios em podcasts, as marcas podem economizar até 70% do investimento. Olha aí, tá vendo? Bom, voltando pra notícia, não é preciso ser nenhum gênio da matemática pra ver que essa é uma troca (70% de economia) que vale muito a pena. E levando em conta que a eficiência da propaganda em podcasts é quase a mesma da TV, simplesmente não existe desculpa pros anúncios em áudio não serem considerados (e implementados, por que não?). Link 2 - Nos últimos anos, o Spotify foi a plataforma que mais movimentou a indústria de podcasts na América Latina. Mas será que isso é uma coisa boa? De acordo com o jornalista colombiano Stan Alcorn, não muito. Tanto aqui no Brasil quanto em outros países latinos, entre 2020 e 2022 o Spotify movimentou bastante coisa relacionada ao nosso mercado. A empresa criou estúdios, firmou parcerias, começou a investir em produções originais, deu voz à diversidade, como no caso do podcast "Mujeres Valientes" sobre as mulheres indígenas Triqui... Enfim, fez algum barulho. Teve até alguns eventos grandes aqui no Brasil, também, como o Spotify for Podcasters Summit - 2019 que eu estava presente, participando de mesa de debate e trabalhando pro Spotify, inclusive. Só que, de algum tempo pra cá, o Spotify têm reduzido essa movimentação e todo esse apoio ao podcasting. Vários contratos foram encerrados, originais Spotify foram deixados de lado, e atualmente muitos criadores de conteúdo que produziam pra plataforma ficaram sem financiamento. Essa última parte, aqui no Brasil, até que está mais ou menos controlada. Mas várias produções da Colômbia, Venezuela e Chile estão vendo as portas se fecharem na cara deles mesmo. E é aí que está o problema. O domínio que o Spotify criou na América Latina criou uma dependência, que agora, com essa saída-pela-direita da empresa, no melhor estilo Leão da Montanha, tá deixando um vazio no mercado. Ficou no pé do criador de conteúdo latino buscar alternativas e repensar toda a sua estratégia pra conseguir se sustentar sem qualquer suporte do Spotify. Mais uma vez a mão invisível do mercado está dando um tapinha de luva de pelica na nossa indústria, mas a gente vai conseguir contornar, como sempre fizemos nesses quase 20 anos. Link 3 - E a Headliner anunciou uma parceria com o Canva para facilitar a criação de audiogramas ainda mais personalizados. Ô ferramenta legal que é o Headliner, né? Antes, os usuários do Headliner podiam acessar o Canva pelo site, mas tinham que ser redirecionados pra uma página separada. Agora, as ferramentas de design do Canva foram integradas na própria plataforma, olha que legal. A parceria foi feita com o intuito de trazer recursos de design mais sofisticados pra quem usa o Headliner, com mais possibilidades de personalização e uso da própria identidade visual. Então agora nós, podcasters, selecionamos o episódio que queremos transformar em vídeo, fazemos todas as edições no visual do audiograma com as ferramentas do Canva, e exportamos o vídeo normalmente. Além disso, a Headliner também lançou uma ferramenta de geração de vídeos a partir de texto, que atualmente está em fase beta. O "text-to-video", como é chamado, é processado por inteligência artificial e por enquanto só está disponível para usuários Pro. Link AINDA EM NOTÍCIAS DA SEMANA: 4 - A Apple anunciou que a partir de novembro desse ano, vai exigir que o Patreon use o sistema de compras dentro do aplicativo iOS, aplicando uma taxa de 30% sobre todas as novas assinaturas feitas na plataforma. Olha que coisinha, né. Segundo a Apple, nesse primeiro momento a mudança não vai afetar quem já é membro, mas a ideia é que todos os criadores de conteúdo que usam o Patreon adotem o modelo de assinatura, eliminando outros formatos de cobrança até novembro de 2025. Eu não preciso nem dizer que 30% de adicional em pagamentos não é pouca coisa. Pra diminuir o impacto da decisão da Apple, o Patreon está desenvolvendo uma ferramenta opcional para permitir que criadores aumentem os preços das assinaturas - exclusivamente no iOS. Olha aí a Apple inflacionando as assinaturas do Patreon... Num comunicado de imprensa do Patreon eles deixaram claro que a mudança não foi planejada em conjunto, e que isso também acabou sendo uma dor de cabeça pra eles, mas a plataforma de assinaturas prometeu que vai apoiar os criadores de conteúdo durante a transição. Quer dizer; a gente tenta ganhar, paga a comissão devida pro Patreon, aí vem a Apple que só tá reproduzindo conteúdo lá na ponta e quer cobrar também. Aí complica, né! Link 5 - E depois de uma primeira edição bem-sucedida em junho desse ano, o Spotify marcou o segundo evento "Podcast ao Vivo" pro dia 28 de setembro. O evento vai acontecer na Unibes Cultural, em São Paulo, e vai contar com a presença de uma nova safra de podcasters populares. Alguns dos nomes confirmados são Bianca DellaFancy, Fabão, Jenny Prioli, Mabê Bonafé e Ju Cassini. Então a gente já sabe aí alguns dos temas de podcast que vão estar nessa edição: humor, cultura pop e true crime. Os ingressos já estão à venda no site Ingresse, com valores entre R$30 e R$60 por sessão. Link 6 - Um relatório da agência de publicidade Oxford Road revelou que o aumento de 39% na quantidade de anúncios em podcasts desde 2021 até agora, pode estar prejudicando o desempenho publicitário. O estudo, chamado “The Danger of Rising PodLoad”, alertou que uma alta carga de anúncios pode diminuir a eficácia das campanhas - até aí nada que não seja óbvio, porque qualquer publicidade excessiva pode ter o efeito contrário. Para evitar esse problema, a agência sugere limitar os anúncios a 6 minutos por hora, distribuídos de forma equilibrada nos programas. Basicamente, mantendo na média "saudável" de anúncios pra audiência. É claro que isso não seria um problema se a publicidade em podcasts não estivesse concentrada nos mesmos 100 programas de sempre, mas essa é uma tecla que a gente ainda vai ter que bater bastante até ver uma mudança de verdade, porque os investimentos vão quase sempre pras mesmas mãos - ou pras mesmas vozes. Link E MAIS: 7 - No segundo trimestre de 2024, a empresa iHeartMedia anunciou que teve um crescimento de 8% na receita de podcasts, com um total de U$ 105 milhões de dólares, ou 11% do seu faturamento total. A receita geral da empresa foi de U$ 929 milhões, com um aumento de 1% em relação ao mesmo período de 2023. O Grupo de Áudio Digital da empresa, que inclui podcasts, teve uma receita de U$286 milhões e, um ajuste de lucro de 32%. Ou seja, nada mal. E mesmo assim, os responsáveis financeiros da iHeart esperam que até o final desse ano, sejam adicionados mais 2 dígitos na receita de podcasts. Ambiciosos? Talvez, mas seja lá o que eles estejam fazendo internamente com a produção de mídia deles, está dando certo pra empresa. Link 8 - Os dados mais recentes do site Listen Notes sugerem que julho de 2024 teve o menor número de “novos podcasts” deste ano – o número foi mais de 60% menor em relação ao ano passado. Só que, tecnicamente, esse número só se refere a “novos feeds”, então a contagem fica comprometida, porque muitos novos podcasts foram lançados em feeds de programas que já existem, ou feeds de programas que foram replanejados antes desse período. A publicação de novos episódios de podcast também deu uma desacelerada: de acordo com o Índice de Podcast do Listen Notes, julho teve uma queda de 6% na comparação de ano-após-ano. Mas vale lembrar aqui que ano passado aconteceu a mesma coisa, e o número de novos podcasts e novos episódios lançados voltou a crescer em agosto. Então, aparentemente, julho é realmente o "mês do comércio fraco" pro podcasting em geral. Link 9 - O Hollywood Reporter publicou recentemente sobre “As pessoas mais poderosas do podcasting em 2024”, esse é o título do artigo. Os nomes mencionados foram uma mistura de executivos da indústria e apresentadores de podcast. Não, eu não estava lá. E é claro que não é surpresa nenhuma que uma lista feita nos Estados Unidos ia ser composta por 90% por estadunidenses né... Mas, pra não dizer que a lista foi totalmente americanizada, ela conta com 2 indicados britânicos - que moram nos Estados Unidos. É incrível como eles nem tentam, né? Enfim, as pessoas citadas na lista foram entrevistadas pelo Hollywood Reporter sobre qual a opinião delas em ouvir podcasts na velocidade 1.5x. Pegando na ferida! A Julia Louis-Dreyfus, do podcast Wiser Than Me, disse que nem sabe o que é a velocidade 1.5x, pra ela isso não existe (muito legal Julia Louis-Dreyfus, gosto muito de você!). O apresentador Bill Simmons disse que ouvir no 1.5x é coisa de sociopatas (concordo!). Já o Ben Shapiro disse que acha a velocidade 1,5x "muito lenta". Então, segundo o Bill, ele pode ou não ser um sociopata. Link HOJE NO GIRO SOBRE PESSOAS QUE FAZEM A MÍDIA: 10 - Na última sexta-feira, dia 16 de agosto, a Blimunda Editora realizou um evento na Livraria da Vila, em São Paulo, pra celebrar e promover o livro "Feminismos e Podcasts". Quem esteve presente nesse evento foi nossa colunista e amiga querida, advogada cansada Aline Hack, a própria organizadora do livro. Além dela, a querida Ira Croft do Mundo Freak também marcou presença por lá, pra discutir com o público sobre o uso do podcast como uma ferramenta de militância feminista, pesquisa e educação. O evento foi gratuito e aberto ao público. Teve roda de conversa, sessão de autógrafo, foto com as autoras... Um encontro muito legal, eu queria ter ido, mas não pude, infelizmente. Our journey today covers just over a mile and a half from White House Cemetery to Kitchener's Wood, and we hear the stories of the cemeteries and memorials on this part of the old front line.We visit White House Cemetery, where we also discover the social history behind a small wooden house opposite the cemetery entrance. We visit Oxford Road, the 50th Division Memorial and Mousetrap Farm, where we hear the remarkably tragic story of two fighting Irish brothers before heading to Kitchener's Wood. There, Marechal Foch described the actions of the Canadian soldiers in April 1915 as the finest feat of soldiering of the entire war.
