On Monday, September 30th, an Israeli airstrike in Deir al-Balah killed Wafa al-Udaini, her husband and two of her children. Wafa was a founder of the October 16 group, a mentor to young journalists and media professionals in Gaza and especially worked to highlight the voices of women impacted by the Israeli occupation. Wafa was the 174th journalist to be killed by Israel in Gaza since Israel began its bombardment of Gaza just under a year ago.Romana Rubeo wrote at the Palestine Chronicle, “Wafa's writing captured the essence of why we do what we do on a daily basis for years: amplifying Palestinian voices, and not any voices, but those that reflect the spirit of the Palestinian people, their defiance of injustice, their quest for freedom, and their courage in word and action.”Long-time listeners of this show may remember that we had Wafa on twice. First, in April 2023, she joined us to explain how the mass protests happening in Israel against Benjamin Netanyahu were about internal Israeli matters, and not concerned with the liberation of Palestinians. “So for us as Palestinians, we see that the occupation has one face, they are all the same, even if it is a far right government or a left-right government or any, it is occupation at the end.” she told us.She then came on the show a few months later for our October 11th 2023 episode, immediately after the resistance movement launched Al Aqsa Flood, to give an on-the-ground report on the Israeli bombardment, its use of white phosphorus and how people viewed the resistance. For today's episode, we'll be revisiting our past conversations with Wafa as we discuss the current and rapidly-escalating situation. We dedicate this episode to Wafa al-Udaini and her family.Support the show

To close up our series, we bring forth the key principles that define what is actually needed for liberation, not simply 'peace'. We begin the episode by looking at the key historical details that have brought us to where we are today, before delving into the idea of anti-Zionism, as well as the roles that different components within the movement (such as peaceful and armed resistance) have in our shared path forward. In this episode, we have the honour of welcoming Dr Ramzy Baroud, editor of the Palestine Chronicle, who has written extensively on the topic of liberation as opposed to peace, and gives his insights.

Seattle-Linked Hamas Operative Busted Holding Israeli Hostages- Ari Hoffman joins Ep-1664

The Todd Herman Show

My good friend, Ari Hoffman, is a successful talk show host in Seattle. He is more knowledgeable on Israel and his Jewish faith than anyone I've ever met. He broke the story that Hamas has a money flow coming out of Seattle to fund The Palestine Chronicle. The Palestine Chronicle has ties to those who held Israeli hostages in their homes. We also talk about the outright hatred of Jewish people that runs rampant in Seattle. Ari is fascinating to talk to and I believe you will learn much from our conversation. What does God's Word say? Deuteronomy 29 Renewal of the Covenant29 These are the terms of the covenant the Lord commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in Moab, in addition to the covenant he had made with them at Horeb.2 Moses summoned all the Israelites and said to them:Your eyes have seen all that the Lord did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials and to all his land. 3 With your own eyes you saw those great trials, those signs and great wonders. 4 But to this day the Lord has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear. 5 Yet the Lord says, “During the forty years that I led you through the wilderness, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet. 6 You ate no bread and drank no wine or other fermented drink. I did this so that you might know that I am the Lord your God.”7 When you reached this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out to fight against us, but we defeated them. 8 We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh.9 Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do. 10 All of you are standing today in the presence of the Lord your God—your leaders and chief men, your elders and officials, and all the other men of Israel, 11 together with your children and your wives, and the foreigners living in your camps who chop your wood and carry your water. 12 You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the Lord your God, a covenant the Lord is making with you this day and sealing with an oath, 13 to confirm you this day as his people, that he may be your God as he promised you and as he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. 14 I am making this covenant, with its oath, not only with you 15 who are standing here with us today in the presence of the Lord our God but also with those who are not here today.16 You yourselves know how we lived in Egypt and how we passed through the countries on the way here. 17 You saw among them their detestable images and idols of wood and stone, of silver and gold. 18 Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the Lord our God to go and worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison.19 When such a person hears the words of this oath and they invoke a blessing on themselves, thinking, “I will be safe, even though I persist in going my own way,” they will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry. 20 The Lord will never be willing to forgive them; his wrath and zeal will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will fall on them, and the Lord will blot out their names from under heaven. 21 The Lord will single them out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.22 Your children who follow you in later generations and foreigners who come from distant lands will see the calamities that have fallen on the land and the diseases with which the Lord has afflicted it. 23 The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur—nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, which the Lord overthrew in fierce anger. 24 All the nations will ask: “Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?”25 And the answer will be: “It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt. 26 They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them. 27 Therefore the Lord's anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book. 28 In furious anger and in great wrath the Lord uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now.”29 The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.Episode 1,664 Links:The Ari Hoffman ShowAri Hoffman, associate editor and Seattle correspondent of The Post MillennialAlan's Soapshttps://alanssoaps.com/TODDUse coupon code ‘TODD' to save an additional 10% off the bundle price.Bioptimizershttps://bioptimizers.com/toddUse promo code TODD for 10% off your order. Rana Shubair is a Palestinian author, mother and language trainer from Gaza. She specializes in English language training, testing and translation. At least fifteen Palestinians have been killed in the early hours of Tuesday morning and throughout the day in a series of Israeli military attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip. More than 40 Israeli warplanes carried out attacks for nearly two hours starting at 2am on Tuesday (23:00 GMT Monday). At least four children and four women have been killed, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Social media users report among those killed in Gaza was Dr Jamal Khaswan, a well-known dentist and Director of the Al Wafa hospital. He was reportedly killed alongside his wife and son. Palestinian journalist Dr Ramzy Baroud argues Israel's latest attacks on Gaza are likely being waged by Israel's political leadership, “to ensure that the political crisis in Israel can be averted” and says the ferocity of the attacks imply Israel “intends to kill as many Palestinians as possible” and that we may well be anticipating "continued Israeli attack on Gaza” in the days to come. Joining Lowkey today are three people who have closely monitored these efforts: Dr. Ramzy Baroud, Jessica Buxbaum, and Alan MacLeod. One example of Israel trying to launder its image in pop culture is the character of Sabra, an Israeli superhero and Mossad agent. Sabra features in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster, “Captain America: New World Order.” Baroud asked Lowkey the question, “why now?” Why had this controversial character made a return, noting,The timing of introducing Sabra fits really nicely into the progression of Israeli propaganda in American movies and in the entertainment industry in general. We are living in an age now, where a superhero can actually be a Mossad agent!”Baroud explored this in detail in his recent MintPress News article, “From Exodus to Marvel: The Israelification of Hollywood.” This latest attempt at woke imperialism is particularly notable, Baroud said, as,Mossad is a notorious organization that is responsible for the assassination of many people, sabotage, destruction, all sorts of sinister business. This is by no means the kind of agency or organization that should be introduced to American youth as if they are the saviors of the human race.”Ramzy Baroud is a journalist and editor of The Palestine Chronicle, as well as a non-resident senior research fellow at the Center for Islam and Global Affairs. He is the author of six books, including “Our Vision for Liberation: Engaged Palestinian Leaders and Intellectuals Speak Out,” co-written with Professor Ilan Pappé.Jessica Buxbaum highlighted the many connections Marvel Studios – particularly its senior executives – have with the apartheid state. Marvel Entertainment chairman Isaac Perlmutter, for example, grew up in 1948-occupied Palestine and served in the IDF during the 1967 Six-Day War, alongside Marvel CEO Avi Arad. Her recent investigation found that many other Marvel senior figures had donated to Zionist organizations, or even to campaign funds for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Also joining Lowkey today is Alan MacLeod, whose latest investigation goes through emails published by WikiLeaks showing that many of Hollywood's most influential producers work closely with the Israeli government and the IDF in order to whitewash its crimes, promote its image, and stamp out any pro-Palestine sentiment in the entertainment world. This went so far as senior entertainment executives introducing IDF officers to other celebrities in an efforSupport the showThe MintPress podcast, “The Watchdog,” hosted by British-Iraqi hip hop artist Lowkey, closely examines organizations about which it is in the public interest to know – including intelligence, lobby and special interest groups influencing policies that infringe on free speech and target dissent. Welcome to Gorilla Radio, recorded March 16th, 2022. Israeli forces stormed Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque during Friday prayers last week. It was the culmination of attacks against Palestinians in towns, villages, and cities across the West Bank during Ramadan. Palestinian attacks within Israel since the beginning of the holy fasting month have too increased. As of writing, thirty people are dead on both sides, and it's feared this could be a prelude to a larger conflict. Mustafa Barghouti, secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative says the confrontations over these two weeks "could become a wide-ranging Intifada." Last year, military raids against worshipers in Al-Aqsa escalated to an eleven day conflict that included Israel's air force bombing Gaza killing hundreds, including at least sixty-five children. Dr. Ramzy Baroud is a journalist, author, and editor of The Palestine Chronicle at PalestineChroncile.com. His book titles include, ‘My Father Was a Freedom Fighter', ‘The Last Earth: A Palestinian Story', ‘These Chains Will Be Broken: Palestinian Stories of Struggle and Defiance in Israeli Prisons,' and his latest, co-edited with Ilan Pappé, 'Our Vision for Liberation: Engaged Palestinian Leaders and Intellectuals Speak Out.' As the Trump administration pushes states to reopen further, the US set another record for new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday by recording more than 59,400, reported the New York Times. That marked the fifth national record in nine days."The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected President Trump's assertion that he enjoys absolute immunity from investigation while in office, allowing a New York prosecutor to pursue a subpoena of the president's private and business financial records," the Washington Post reported Thursday. What does this mean for the president, and what signals does it send about the court's perspective on separation of powers and the Constitution? "Former national security adviser John Bolton's claim in an unpublished manuscript that President Trump told him he wanted to hold military assistance to Ukraine to get officials there to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden has sharpened a rift within the Senate GOP over trial strategy," The Hill reported Monday. "Two key moderates, Sens. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Susan Collins (R-ME), say Bolton's claim strengthens their calls for the Senate to hear from witnesses at President Trump's impeachment trial. Yet GOP leaders and other rank-and-file Republican senators are questioning Bolton's motivations and dismissing the reported claims of his book draft as adding little to the case against the president." What does this mean going forward?"'Iranians should not allow US President Donald Trump's 'maximum pressure' approach to harm national unity ahead of parliamentary elections,' President Hassan Rouhani said in a speech, lashing out at hardliners over mass disqualification of candidates," Reuters reported Monday. Is Trump's maximum pressure campaign having more impact in Iran than originally thought?"Over the past few weeks, former Vice President Joe Biden has been making an effort to recast his record on Social Security as one of a champion who defended the program from assaults, rather than one who consistently argued that it ought to be cut," The Intercept reported Saturday. A look at his record tells a different story. What does this mean going forward?"President Donald Trump is meeting with the leaders of Israel's two largest parties at the White House Monday, as he prepares to present the administration's Mideast peace plan," Haaretz reported. "Trump hosted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before meeting with Kahol Lavan [Blue and White] Chairman Benny Gantz, Netanyahu's rival in the upcoming March election. The meeting with Netanyahu was scheduled to last for over an hour, while the meeting with Gantz was scheduled to last between 30 to 45 minutes." The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to send articles of impeachment against US President Donald Trump to the Senate, setting up what will likely e a very partisan trial in the chamber. The 223-198 vote was mostly along party lines, with Rep. Collin Peterson (D-MN), who also voted against impeaching Trump last month, being the only Democrat to defect. Also on Wednesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) chose seven members of the House to serve as managers of Trump's trial in the Senate, which could begin as early as January 21. Those seven managers are House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA); House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY); House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY); and Reps. Jason Crow (D-CO), Val Demings (D-FL), Sylvia Garcia (D-TX) and Zoe Lofgren (D-CA). The trial is likely to continue past Trump's scheduled State of the Union address in early February. What are we to make of these latest developments?"Iranian President Hassan Rouhani dismissed on Wednesday a proposal for a new 'Trump deal' aimed at resolving a nuclear row, saying it was a 'strange' offer and criticizing US President Donald Trump for always breaking promises," Reuters reported. What are we to take away from this discussion?"A whittled-down field of Democratic presidential candidates on Tuesday focused on their shared disdain for President Trump and elaborated on a host of policy differences domestic and foreign in an Iowa presidential debate whose most animated moment turned on whether a woman could become president," the Washington Post reported. Were there any valuable takeaways from this debate?GUESTS:Stephen Lendman - Editor of and contributor to the book "Flashpoint in Ukraine: US Drive for Hegemony Risks WW III." Foreign meddling in electoral politics can legitimately be compared to an act of war. Just ask the voters of Honduras whose popular president was forced out of office at gunpoint by agents working for the interests of offshore corporations. Since the replacement of Mel Zelaya in 2009 the coupsters, anointed by the good offices of El Norte, have run roughshod over the rights and dignity of the people, putting in place by hook, crook, bullets and batons an old-fashioned fascist regime; a banana republic the likes of which has not been seen since the last time Uncle Sam ran the show. Jesse Freeston is a Canadian documentary filmmaker and video journalist. A seminal member of The Real News Network, he's also produced documentaries for teleSUR, the world's largest Spanish-language public broadcaster, and his latest film, Resistencia: The Fight for the Aguan Valley documents an agrarian take-over of palm oil plantations by share-cropping farmers. He's currently working on his next independent film, Human Park. Jesse is back in Honduras and a few weeks ago released the two-part report, 'Honduras: The Never-Ending Coup' on TRNN. Jesse Freeston in the first half. And; media-shaded the last few years by neigbouring regional conflicts, and more recently by the Olympics and spotlight hogging Trump political circus, Gaza, and Palestine generally, has garnered scant coverage in North America's press. That changed a little with Israel's aerial and tank bombardment of the embattled enclave last week; but that the attention would hover a little longer there to reveal the desperate, ongoing plight of the World's largest and longest refugee crisis. Dr. Ramzy Baroud is an American-Arab journalist, media consultant, syndicated columnist, educator, founder and editor of the Palestine Chronicle, past editor of numerous online and print news organizations, and author. He's currently embarking on a World-tour to promote his latest book, 'The Last Earth: A Palestinian Story' to provide, he says, "a new take on the history of the Palestinian people, one in which the refugees are the core theme". That tour will bring Ramzy to our town next week, 7pm Friday March 2nd, right here at UVic's David Strong building. Ramzy Baroud and bringing the voice to Palestine's refugees in the second half. And; Victoria-based activist and CFUV broadcaster at-large, Janine Bandcroft will be here with the Left Coast Events bulletin to bring us up to speed with some of what's good going on in and around Victoria in the coming week. But first, Jesse Freeston and the story of Honduras' never-ending coup. Chris Cook hosts Gorilla Radio, airing live every Thursday between 11-Noon Pacific Time.
