Send us a textHave you watched any of the Missing 411 movies? Former police officer, David Paulides, is the guy behind them. He has been collecting records for countless strange missing persons cases across the United States for years, then compiling the ones that have the same fact patterns into books and movies. I've learned much from Paulides, and the disappearances, from staying safe outdoors to always telling someone where you are going, and where you expect to return, as well as place names. What do I mean? He's noticed that place names with Ape or Devil or Spirit in them; like Devil's Lake, Devil's Pass, Ape Canyon, Ape Lake, Spirit Lake, etc, there's an unusual amount of paranormal sightings in those areas, whether it be of Bigfoot, Dogman, Screaming Banshees or the like, the place names give away ancient secrets of the land. That's what led me to this topic. Investigator David Paulides has focused his attention for the last ten years on the compelling evidence that there is an unusual set of circumstances for many of the missing that vanish in the wilderness. In the first half, he shared his newest research into mysterious disappearances in Washington state and elsewhere and the odd details that surround these vanishings. Paulides said he has compiled various "profile points" around the cases that come up repeatedly, though they don't apply to every case. These include weather events at the time of the disappearance, missing clothes or shoes, many of the disappeared have an illness or disability that isn't obvious, and a "point of separation" where the person is out of sight or goes a different way. Among those that are found alive, they typically don't remember how they went missing or what happened, and if they are found dead, it's generally in or adjacent to a body of water. He detailed a 1999 case when two experienced and well-equipped mountain climbers, Chris Hartonas and Raymond Vakili, disappeared near Camp Muir on Mount Rainier. Helicopters and canines were used in the initial 10-day search, but nothing was found. Paulides found this remark from the National Park Service rather sobering: "This is the fourth serious incident on the Muir snowfield in 1999. It's difficult to speculate what exactly happened to the men, and it's perplexing when two experienced, cautious, and mature climbers just disappear." Among other curiosities in cases, he said there were a series of intellectuals who vanished, including about six physicists who were all German. Paulides also touched on a case where workers on Weyerhaeuser property, west of Mount. St. Helens saw a UFO pick up and remove an elk. The witnesses all expressed concern that they could be next.---------------In the latter half, C2C's investigative reporter Cheryll Jones presented her interview with Adam Berry, one of the first to blend research of both the psychological and the supernatural worlds. He shared his research on the Other Side, the intersections between grief, death, and afterlife communication, and the importance of humanizing ghosts and understanding their point of view. "I believe that if I use the right equipment, the right techniques, I can communicate with the dead," he told Cheryll, adding that near-death experiences and dream visitations lend further evidence to the idea that our consciousness continues after death. His focus has been on ghosts or earthbound spirits who may have unfinished business, which keeps them lingering around. For these spirits, "we can see human traits and their wants and needs that mirror our own," Berry continued. He described a case where a person lived in a house that was formerly home to two Polish immigrants who had passed away and were haunting rooms in the basement. It turned out the spirits were disturbed by renovations being done in the house, but once it was explained to them, they reached an understanding. In a case in Florida, children were seeing ghostly activity, and Berry and his team learned that a previous homeowner had died of mold exposure and was trying to warn the current inhabitants. He also talked about how spirits often say there are no words to describe what the afterlife is like, which be can be frustrating for us on the earth plane. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/georgenoory/message
In 1974, Carl Higdon met a strange, floating humanoid in the woods, and was taken inside a strange see-through structure, only to be literally dropped back down to Earth. Higdon's case is a classic UFO abduction, but it may also shed light on other unexplained disappearances and deaths around the world. On today's episode I talk about a recent article from the Associated Press about a pentagon statement. Also, I cover the Missing 411 Phenomenon from David Paulides. The copy of the news Story AP: A Pentagon study released Friday that examined reported sightings of UFOs over nearly the last century found no evidence of aliens or extraterrestrial intelligence, a conclusion consistent with past U.S. government efforts to assess the accuracy of claims that have captivated public attention for decades. The study from the Defense Department's All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office analyzed U.S. government investigations since 1945 of reported sightings of unidentified anomalous phenomena, more popularly known as UFOs. It found no evidence that any of them were signs of alien life, or that the U.S. government and private companies had reverse-engineered extraterrestrial technology and were hiding it. “All investigative efforts, at all levels of classification, concluded that most sightings were ordinary objects and phenomena and the result of misidentification,” said the report, which was mandated by Congress. Another volume of the report focused on more recent research will be out later. U.S. officials have endeavored to find answers to legions of reported UFO sightings over the years, but so far have not identified any actual evidence of extraterrestrial life. A 2021 government report that reviewed 144 sightings of aircraft or other devices apparently flying at mysterious speeds or trajectories found no extraterrestrial links, but drew few other conclusions and called for better data collection. The issue received fresh attention last summer when a retired Air Force intelligence officer testified to Congress that the U.S. was concealing a longstanding program that retrieves and reverse engineers unidentified flying objects. The Pentagon has denied his claims, and said in late 2022 that a new Pentagon office set up to track reports of unidentified flying objects — the same one that released Friday's report — had received “several hundreds” of new reports, but had found no evidence so far of alien life. The authors of Friday's report said the purpose was to apply a rigorous scientific analysis to a subject that has long captured the American public's imagination. “AARO recognizes that many people sincerely hold versions of these beliefs which are based on their perception of past experiences, the experiences of others whom they trust, or media and online outlets they believe to be sources of credible and verifiable information,” the report said. “The proliferation of television programs, books, movies, and the vast amount of internet and social media content centered on UAP-related topics most likely has influenced the public conversation on this topic, and reinforced these beliefs within some sections of the population,” it added. The Missing 411 Phenomenon from David Paulides Following his work on Bigfoot, Paulides' next project was Missing 411, a series of self-published books and two documentary films, documenting unsolved cases of people who have gone missing in national parks and elsewhere. According to Paulides, his work on this subject began when he was doing research in a national park and an off-duty park ranger found him and expressed concern about the questionable nature of some of the missing person cases which occurred in the parks. The ranger knew Paulides' background and asked him to research the issue. Paulides obliged, and asserts that he uncovered multiple lines of evidence suggesting negligence on the part of the park service in failing to locate the missing people. He broadened his investigation to include missing people from across the world, and this led to his belief that he has uncovered a mysterious series of worldwide disappearances, which he said defied logical and conventional explanations. As of August 2021, Paulides has written at least ten books on this topic. According to A Sobering Coincidence, he does not yet have a theory on what is causing the disappearances, although he indicates that the "field of suspects is narrowing." Paulides advised his readers to go outside of their normal comfort zone to determine who (or what) is the culprit

Author David Paulides claims that these disappearances are more common than the National Park Service admits, and that many of them involve strange circumstances, such as people vanishing without a trace, leaving behind no belongings or clues. Paulides has also noted that a disproportionate number of the missing are children and young adults. The story of this investigation has captured the public's imagination, and has been the subject of books, documentaries, and podcasts. There are some who believe that the disappearances are the work of a creature or other supernatural forces. Missing 411 is a phenomenon involving the unexplained disappearances of people, mainly in national parks and forests of the United States and Canada. It was brought to mainstream attention by retired police detective David Paulides, who has written several books on the subject. Paulides documented over 1,600 cases of people missing under bizarre circumstances. Some commonalities between the instances include disappearances near granite rock formations, lousy weather setting in suddenly, and searches being impeded by tracking dogs unable to pick up scents. Many of those found alive or deceased were missing shoes and clothing that should have been on them.New! David Paulides is a former police officer who is now an investigator and writer known primarily for the Missing 411 conspiracy theory. Missing 411 is a series of books and films, which document cases of people who have gone missing in national parks and elsewhere, and maintain that these cases are unusual and mysterious. In his latest documentary, Missing 411, The UFO Connection, Paulides investigates cases of elk hunters who've gone missing from specific regions of North America, and explores the theory that there could be a connection between these disappearances and sightings of UFOs. On tonight's episode, I'm joined in the Secret Bunker by Eric, from World We Live In podcast, and he and I will break down Paulides' latest documentary and discuss the cases ourselves. We will give our opinions on whether or not these cases have merit and if Paulides is grasping at straws or is really onto something.Turn On, Tune In & Find Out!

David Paulides is a retired detective who has written several books on a series of mysterious disappearances in national parks and rural areas of the United States. The cases are referred to as "Missing 411" and have generated a lot of attention and controversy. Paulides and his supporters claim that there are unusual and unexplained circumstances surrounding these disappearances, and that there is evidence of foul play or government cover-ups. However, many of the claims made by Paulides and his supporters have been disputed or debunked by critics, who say that there is a lack of reliable evidence to support the allegations. Your hosts Dr. Dean Bertram and Jason McLean kick off 2023 by returning to the audio-visual wing of the Mysterious Library. This week they check out a brand-new documentary release: MISSING 411: THE UFO CONNECTION from David Paulides. Paulides, an ex-law enforcement officer and now one of the most important and controversial researchers in the broader Fortean field, has long chronicled mysterious disappearances in his iconic MISSING 411 books and documentaries. As the title of his brand-new documentary suggest, Paulides posits that there is a UFO connection to a number of disappearances that meet the type of Missing 411 "profile points" that he has collated in his years of research. It is a fascinating film that deserves the type of thorough breakdown you've come to expect from your Mysterious Librarians.
Film Crew Tracks Missing 411- The HuntedLots of people have vanished, some for ever, often in clusters (though over many years). So many people have disappeared in fact, with so many co-occuring factors, that David Paulides has written a series of books on the disappearances. He is the narrator and interviewer of Missing 411: The Hunted, though he asks a lot more questions than he answers (or wants to). You can understand why; let's face it, usually the boring, prosaic answer will probably be the correct one, but who wants to watch a documentary about an elderly man who had a heart attack in the woods? In Part Two of our series on the Missing 411 phenomenon, we'll first examine a study conducted to determine which National Parks are the most dangerous in the United States. The numbers and causes may surprise you. We then take a closer look at a few more puzzling cases and, with a critical eye, examine the data presented by David Paulides and the CanAm Project vs. what's been reported by the news media. Discrepancies raise questions when ascertaining the objective facts and judging if the evidence is remarkable. There are plenty of errors and omissions from all parties, but what are the causes and intentions behind them? With hundreds, perhaps thousands of incidents, it's understandable when a news outlet rushing to report under a deadline makes mistakes, but can the same leeway be given to Paulides? Are they honest mistakes or the handy claim that details are "cherry-picked," overlooked, or embellished to prop up a narrative and sell content? Will later discoveries change the investigations, are we being told everything, and what are the motivations of those doing the telling or omitting? Are blunders in the reporting, whatever the intent, proof that nothing extraordinary is going on? As we conclude the episode with an overall skeptical analysis and finish with our personal assessments, it's clear that what is deemed either a mundane tragedy or a mysterious phenomenon is in the eye of the beholder. As far as any alarming pattern to these cases is concerned, if strange yet commonplace coincidences do occur, how many coincidences are too many? Visit our website for a lot more information on this episode.
A former police officer turned writer David Paulides was taken aside by a National Park Ranger and told about a disturbing trend he'd realized. This Ranger asserted that some people were going missing in the woods under mysterious circumstances leaving only puzzling evidence of their fate. Of course, people often go missing in the wilderness in tragic yet explainable events but what was troubling to these Rangers in the field was the apparent pattern of the occurrences and the subsequent investigation efforts. This Ranger stated that during the first seven to ten days of a disappearance, an all-out Search and Rescue effort ensued with plenty of press coverage. However, after the first week of a rescue mission, it seemed to them that the media stopped reporting, the search for the missing was called off, and no further explanation from the authorities was provided. An additionally alarming trend was that there seemed to be a reluctance or inability on behalf of the National Park Service administration to collect and provide statistics on these disappearances to the public, either through inefficiency or secrecy. If this is true, perhaps it could be from a concerted effort to diminish negative publicity and undue fear about park visitation, or maybe there is something dreadful the officials don't want the public to know. Whatever the reason, this conversation launched Paulides on a now decade-long quest for answers. Initially, after over three years and 9000 hours of investigation, utilizing his 20 years of experience with law enforcement and the resulting connections, Paulides had gathered enough information to compile two books. Missing 411 – Western U.S. was released on March 1, 2012, documenting the stories of people who have vanished in seemingly bizarre instances in the western half of the United States. The second book, Missing 411 – Eastern U.S., was published later that month and contains special sections on unusual outdoor activities that seem related and a master list of all missing persons. Currently, ten books have been published, with more on the way, two documentaries have been produced, and Paulides' ongoing popular YouTube channel continues to highlight cases. In addition, retired police officers, Search and Rescue experts, and other professionals are dedicated to continuing researching and investigating these cases with their CanAm Missing project. One worrisome aspect they've found is that in many situations, parents, relatives, and friends of the missing believe that their loved one was kidnapped or abducted, sometimes with them nearby. No matter the causal connections or whether you think these disappearances are sad but commonplace, a conspiracy lurks or is nonexistent; the fact is that these cases are real, and the victims' stories deserve and need to be told. The question remains, however – what is really going on out in the wilds, and is it something sinister we should all be worried about? Visit our website for a lot more information on this episode.

Hello everyone! We're back from Thanksgiving Break and are joined with our good friend Matt Storm for a return episode talking about a phenomena focused on people vanishing without a trace. Matt is a PE teacher, fellow outdoorsman, coach and critical thinker when it comes to mysterious phenomena such as this one. What is Missing 411? David Paulides, a former law enforcement officer and police detective, has documented people that disappear without a trace across the United States, Canada, and many other countries across the globe. We dive down the rabbithole and discuss some specific cases featured in Paulides' documentaries - Missing 411 (available on Youtube) and Missing 411: The Hunted (available for free with Amazon Prime) - and a few of his books. These people have been reported missing and have never been seen since their disappearance. These cases rule out suicide, crime, animal attacks and drowning - victims just seem to disappear out of thin air. There are over 1,600 people in North America alone that are currently missing. What happened to them? Does anybody know? What are some of the theories that are currently being given thought? Check this episode out for more! Songs featured (now at the end) in this episode include - "Red Lights" by Maximum Love, off their 2018 album, "Under the Shadow" "Ummon" by Slift, off their 2019 album, "Ummon" "Walking in the Snow" by Run the Jewels, off their 2020 album, "RTJ4"
The National Parks Service doesn't collect data on how many visitors disappear within the vast expanses of these parks. Indeed, most people turn up on their own accord a few days later. In 2020, Paulides estimated that there had been over 1,600 unexplained disappearances in North America.
In our first, allegedly true story, from user leprus_americanus, a hiker goes missing for one of the previously mentioned reasons, and a search and rescue operation dispatched to locate them encounters something both unexplainable, and tragic. Have you found The Missing Hiker? And, in our second, allegedly true tale, originally published to the Missing 411 SubReddit by user REP143, a man and his family come into contact with something strange. After hearing of the Missing 411 phenomenon, this user would go on to speculate that they may have come across, and possibly narrowly escaped, becoming part of the very phenomenon Paulides investigates. How would you react, if you were protecting your family and came across Tripwire? David Paulides is a former police detective who is now an investigator and writer known primarily for his self-published books, one dedicated to proving the reality of Bigfoot, and his Missing 411 series of books, in which he documents the disappearance of people in national parks and elsewhere. Paulides attributes mysterious, unspecified causes to these disappearances, while data analysis suggests that these disappearances are not statistically mysterious or unexpected. In this episode I will go into a kinda 411 on this 411 thing then I will do a few cases on there own so we can see the similarities.
