There's no real words to describe how unexpected the Royals double header sweep of the Guardians was on Monday after getting drilled by Philly and playing sloppy and falling behind in both games at Cleveland. Something crazy could be happening right before our eyes. The Chiefs make a pair of last minute moves before setting their 53 man roster that could prove to be big. Colorado coach Deion Sanders should apologize to a Denver reporter and change his policy after a monumentally stupid move against the man. Mayor Q seems oblivious to the obvious when it comes to new stadium issues. RFK Jr says we are going through historic political change in America that will be remembered and compared to Abe Lincoln. We have the audio... it's amazing. Mark Zuckerberg admits Biden and Harris conspired with Facebook to rig the election AND to censor Covid information. This in a letter Zuck sent to congressman Jim Jordan. Sounds like serious crimes to me. Trump attends a ceremony at Arlington cemetery for the fallen soldiers three years ago at Kabul airport and Texas has slashed 1.1 million people from its voter rolls. It's a warning sign of juts how bad our registration is in America.

Is this the one where Alicia Silverstone plays Q? Is that a thing?--and if not, how can we make that train wreck happen? While we might be Alicia Silverstone-less in this episode, we're also Picard-less and TNG-less, which is fairly rare for a Q-ful episode. Let's see how the motley station crew handles our favorite omnipotent being in this crossover episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Episode discussion starts at 19:09. Writing a DS9 "Q" EpisodeThe trickster Q bedeviled both Captains Picard and Janeway in his many outrageous appearances. However, there was only one "Deep Space Nine" episode that featured the omnipotent being in "Q-Less", a first season episode that is largely forgettable. It seemed for most that Q just didn't work in the world of Sisko and the tone of DS9 stories. The trio put on their writing hats and tackle another outing for Q on the space station - how could it work in the later seasons of DS9? They look at how Q would interact with the other "god-like" beings of the series, the Prophets (or "wormhole aliens"). Sisko centers his role as the Emissary, as Q joins him in an adventure that examines both the role of the Emissary and the mysterious agenda of The Prophets. This leads to a larger discussion about what the nature of these beings living in the Celestial Temple. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3169638/advertisement

“Q-Less” 30th-anniversary reflections The arrival of Vash, whom Dax found in the Gamma Quadrant, brings incredible profit potential to Quark, but great danger to the station. Tagging along with her is none other than Q, seemingly there to deliver his usual brand of havoc. He doesn't hit it off well with Sisko, and that might be why he is blamed for the mysterious graviton pulses that threaten to tear the station apart. Only it turns out that the danger comes not from Q but rather a baby alien being auctioned off by new business partners Quark and Vash—a realization that comes just in time. In this episode of The Orb, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing continue our 30th-anniversary retrospective that will take you through all of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, one episode at a time. In this installment, we discuss, “Q-Less,” the appearance of John de Lancie's fan favorite on DS9, the original premise compared with what we got, why it does (and doesn't) make sense, and how the story makes more sense if you shift how you look at it. 7. There's so many things wrong with this episode--actually, just the one thing wrong. The all-powerful being harassing his powerless ex without a moral core, lesson learned, or any point to it really except for how we're supposed to find the cruelty funny. At least we learned the very important lesson that uh...uh...damn. So we learned nothing, underused John de Lancie, and made an episode that would taste like vanilla frozen yogurt, if you could order a "mild" vanilla frozen yogurt. At least we can all agree this is the worst Q episode right? Even the one where the asks [REDACTED] to [REDACTED] him isn't as bad or the time where he uses the USS [REDACTED] as a boarding [REDACTED]. Nine Deeps of Space is a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine watchalong podcast. New episodes go up Wednesday evenings at 10 PM CST. Episodes are hosted on Anchor, but are available on most podcast platforms.

This episode featuring new beats by UltraWarp! Leil hoped this episode would not suck, but alas, even Sisko punching Q in the face and balls can't salvage this episode.

Welcome to our Rebinge of Star Trek DS9: Q-Less Episode six of season 1 of DS9, entitled Q-Less, brings in some classic TNG characters. Q and Vash visit the station and pretty much everything goes badly. Quark and Vash form a skeezy team to auction off some Gamma Quadrant artifacts to the dumbest rich people Quark knows. Meanwhile the station is getting slowly sucked to its doom into the nearby wormhole. Is Q to blame? Q-Less Vash arrives at DS9 with a very large sack of precious artifacts from the other side of the wormhole. The team is less interested in her baubles than in how she even got over there, but she's not talking. Bashir and Quark are up to their usual tricks with the new visitor. Sisko is less concerned about Vash than he is about the sudden appearance of Q. What does he want? Is he responsible for the weird power drains happening around the station? Odo is pretty sure everyone is up to something (they are) and Q and Sisko have an epic boxing match. This is a weird episode (well Q is involved, so that's expected). What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Listen to our intro episode if you want to know a little more about us. And kick off the whole thing with our rebinge of the pilot episode Emissary. Or catch up on the previous episode of S1E5: Captive Pursuit. Next time... We dig into Season 1 Episode 7 of DS9: Dax. Be sure and join our Facebook group and Follow Rebinge It on Twitter!
James and Kim dive into Season 1 Episode 6 of DS9: Q-Less. Vash and Q arrive at the station and everything goes very badly.
TNG favorites Q and Vash arrive at DS9 and everything goes badly from there. Power drains are putting the station at risk and Sisko wants to (and does) punch Q. Meanwhile, Bashir and Quark are creeping, Odo is suspicious, Kira is angry...so business as usual. Oh yeah and the station is getting sucked into the wormhole! Somebody do something quick!

I honestly didn’t intend to pick a film that so perfectly fit our politically wacky present; it was just a happy accident. For episode 6 of The Steal My Name podcast I’m looking at Kevin Smith’s Red State. Few films manage to capture the terror of religious fundamentalism like Smith’s Red State. From the demonization of the dreaded ‘other’, to the lengths that some are willing to go to enforce their beliefs on others. It’s a heavy talk but these are heavy times that we live in. My DS9 re-watch runs into a few familiar faces from Star Trek The Next Generation in episode 6, Q-Less, and I end it with a look at a book that gets more relevant with each passing year, Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaids Tale. Be sure to follow me on Facebook at Steal My Name Cast and if you would like to read my short stories you can find them at thestealmynamelibrary.wordpress.com. Enjoy!

DS9 is feeling a lot like its predecessor this week on SSHB. First up: Q and Vash are in town, and a mysterious artifact from the Gamma Quadrant is causing trouble in "Q-Less". After that, where TNG debated personhood in "Measure of a Man", DS9 tackles where one person ends and another begins in "Dax". But it's not as good. Whoops. Also this week: all alone, telegraphing twists, and video game adaptations. Timestamps: Q-Less: 0:52; Dax: 31:17
The Rules of Acquisition: A Star Trek Deep Space Nine Podcast
It's a Q episode! Stick around for the end when James looks back at his feelings on the episode, DS9, and podcasting in 2015. Everyone's favorite (or least favorite) Trickster Space God boards the station with Picard's ex girlfriend to help remind you this is a spin off of that Star Trek show you really liked. Remember? Nudge nudge. Wink. Come for the TNG characters, stay to hear us talk about Ferengi sex practices, and vent our transporter frustrations. [Editors note: Oh, and yes we were wrong about the 3 life forms issue. It was the egg. We got it.]
Star Trek DS9 Ruminations S1E07: Q Less
We’re talking about episode six of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Shadier elements of the alpha quadrant speculate about the value of gamma quadrant artifacts, Quark holds an auction, and a space manta ray goes home. The station is also almost destroyed. This is Androids and Assets, the podcast that discusses the political and economic … Continue reading "Emissaries of Profits – Q Less" The post Emissaries of Profits – Q Less appeared first on Androids and Assets.
In our fifth episode, Commander Mark and Major Drew boldly stand still and begin our Deep Space Nine season by season retrospective focusing on one show per season. In our discussion of "Q-Less", we ask the following questions. What message does this episode send to Trek fans of the time? How important is canon? Does anyone care what happens to Q and Vash? Next week we begin our Ferengi retrospective, starting with the Next Generation season 1 classic, "The Last Outpost". Look us up at the Phaser Time Facebook group, or on Twitter @PhaserTimePod or e-mail at PhaserTimePodcast@gmail.com. Please note this show is in no way affiliated with Laser Time podcast, though are we lovingly inspired by them.
In our fourth episode, Doc Mark and Marty McDrew take a break from Star Trek to discuss one of the lesser talked about yet somehow still iconic movies from our youth. During this sleigh ride through time we discuss, yes of course, time travel paradoxes but also the following; What is the best way to watch this movie? What is the theme, if any of this movie? Is Doc Brown lying to us the whole time? Next week we begin one of our running series, a season by season retrospective of Deep Space Nine, beginning with season 1's "Q-Less". Look us up at the Phaser Time Facebook group, or on Twitter @PhaserTimePod or e-mail at PhaserTimePodcast@gmail.com. Please note this show is in no way affiliated with Laser Time podcast, though are we lovingly inspired by them, and if you listened to Laser Time's Bonus Time on Avengers Endgame, I just want to point out we recorded this long before that was released!
Q: How did Vash get to the Gamma Quadrant without going through the wormhole? A: Q. The troublesome twosome from TNG is back on the small screen, taking up temporary residence on Deep Space Nine. Vash wants to auction off some trinkets and ditch Q. This could lead to DS9's destruction, though Q says that's not his fault. And Sisko believes him. Will Q get the girl? Will Bashir get the GIRLS? Wrangel officially joins the show. We talk about DS9 Season 1 episodes "Q-Less" and "Dax".
Q makes his first (and only) appearance on DS9 in an episode that involves graviton particles and a woman who once had sex with Picard! When Vash and Q appear on DS9, strange happenings start to threaten the station. Is Q behind the chaos? Or is it something else, totally unrelated? Clay joins me to discuss DS9 in the shadow of TNG, the Quark and Odo relationship, and space jellyfish! Are you looking for older episodes? Find this and every other episode at The Pensky Podcast! "Q-Less" (DS9) - Angelica Bastién, essayist and writer, joins Scott to discuss DS9’s “Q-Less” (S1E7). Topics include how the Klingons have had enough time in the limelight, Ezri Dax (not appearing this in episode), and how terrible Wesley Crusher is (who also doesn’t appear in this episode). Fair warning, this episode of Random Trek features some red alerts. You’ve been warned. Host Scott McNulty with Angelica Jade Bastién.
Question: what queer quality quietly qualifies this quotable quaff of a DS9 episode to quench your thirst for quirky TNG-style humor? Why, it's our old ominpotent buddy Q, of quorse! This week he comes aboard the station to wreak havoc and be a general thorn in Sisko's side, while Picard's former flame, Vash (NOT the Stampede), meets a kindred spirit in Quark (no relation to Q). RTW hosts are joined once again by the quintessential Tyler Neufeld (aka Barm) for a discussion that devolves into imagining profanity on DS9, Sisko's indecipherable reaction to punching a god, and COUS-COUS. Questions? Don't quibble! Quickly quell your queries by downloading this quepisode!
Q snaps his way onto Deep Space Nine in the episode Q-Less, and Hillary and Nic counter with their discussion about the most memorable banker in all of Star Trek, Q's abusive relationship with Vash, Julian's smooth moves and some how we end up talking about nipples. I blame Q. He's a tricksy one he is.
We discuss our disappointment in the only Q episode of DS9, our love for Dax, and if Dax is a stand-in for literally every LGBT issue there is.
Want to catch up on the first season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but don’t have a lot of time? Then this episode is for you! This week, we give you our overall impressions of the first season and decide which episodes are complete trash heaps, and which ones are worth your time! Here’s a hint: it’s not very many. It’s perfect for the discerning viewer who wants to scream at us for daring to say Q-Less is worthless (it is), and will get you up to speed as we begin our descent into Season 2! Also, Ben declares his love for Sandra Oh, Poey argues for Lwaxana Troi, and Vince rides the fence.
Season 1, episodes 7 and 8: In “Q-Less,” Vash, the rogue archaeologist and best thing to happen to Capt. Picard, wants to settle down after living on the road with Q. In “Dax,” the character’s symbiotic nature is explored in a courtroom drama.

It's a Q episode! We got it.]
Essential DS9, Season One. The episodic television format has its strengths and weaknesses. The advantage is that the viewer can tune into just about any episode, any time, and enjoy it without having to know what happened in previous installments. The downside is that it's harder to build momentum with self-contained episodes. That means that some episodes will shine, while others will fall into the shadows. In this episode of The Orb, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing join our sister shows Standard Orbit and To The Journey in determining which episodes of Star Trek are required viewing … this time for Deep Space Nine, a series that—more than any other—builds upon itself story after story. One by one, we discuss each episode to determine if it's truly essential to the DS9 storyline or something you can skip without worry. After the debacle of “Q-Less”, you can forgive Richard for being skeptical about a DS9 episode featuring Lwaxana Troi, but “The Forsaken” is surprisingly touching. Later, in “Dramatis Personae”, something happens, but we don’t know what, because we fell asleep. Also! What is Barclay up to? iTunes Google Play RSS
DS9 stumbles hard this week, as it gives us the adventures of guest stars that have absolutely nothing to do with our main characters, in “Q-Less”. Luckily, it remembers that we’re here for drama, in “Dax”, as we learn a bit about the Trill and Jadzia. Plus! Q never reappears on Star Trek: Deep Space ...
DS9 Season One Overview. When you look back at the whole of Deep Space Nine, the first season feels a bit out-of-place. The tone of the episodes in this freshman outing don't quite mesh with the persona DS9 took on in later seasons. Yet there are plenty of seeds being planted in these early adventures, and there are even a few moments of sheer brilliance. In this episode of The Orb, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing take a trip through every episode from DS9 Season One to see which shine, which don't, and what elements connect with the overall series arc—either hinting at the greatness to come or falling under the label of Niner Essentials. In this latest episode of LISTEN TO THE PROPHETS, Paul, Andy, and Shawn take a look at an attempt to insert a crossover character into the Deep Space Nine show, as the omnipotent being Q arrives at the station to cause mayhem and menace. And get punched in his smug face. But is Q really the cause of all the anomalies plaguing the station, or is it tied to his travelling companion and former Captain Picard snuggle bunny Vash? There's a mystery afoot, but is it all that mysterious...or entertaining at all, for that matter? Is John de Lancie a welcome addition to the DS9 crew, or does his form of meddling not fit in with the direction of the show? Commentary: Trek Stars: The Work of Star Trek Creators Outside of Star Trek
Wolfe, Part 1: Trek. There were many talented people who contributed to the genius of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. But one of the most under appreciated is writer/producer Robert Hewitt Wolfe. This week, Max and Mike start a new series looking at Wolfe's work as a driving force behind television projects, including Futuresport, Andromeda, Riverworld, and The Dresden Files. In Part 1, we are joined by Matt Hansen of The Delta Quadrant to look at Wolfe's work on Star Trek. We discuss his Next Generation debut with “A Fistful of Datas,” his script for “Q-Less,” which led to a staff position on DS9, and his huge contribution to the series on the whole, including the co-creation of the Defiant. We also debate what metaphor best describes his place in the DS9 writing staff.
In this episode of China Money Podcast, guest Tim Draper, founder and managing director of Menlo Park, California-based venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ), speaks with our host Nina Xiang about the history of DFJ's investment activities in China, where he is focused on funding the next big tech companies, his big misses in China, and his views on the next tech bubble that he thinks is coming right now. Read an excerpt below, but be sure to listen to the full interview in audio or watch an abbreviated video version. Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast in the iTunes store. Q: Let's start with the Macro. Investors, particularly foreign investors, have been concerned about an economic slowdown in China. Do you share that sentiment? A: Even an economic slowdown in China means a growth rate much higher than most of the world. So I'm not concerned at all about a slight lowering of the Chinese growth rate. I actually think that the Chinese economy is one of the most promising in the world. Q: DFJ is closing down its China and India offices. Why? A: We found that we are better off working with affiliates in these countries, rather than (running) DFJ company owned (operations). We have DFJ Dragon, DFJ Compass and DFJ ePlanet in China. We found that trying to make decisions on companies that far away was a very difficult process. We want more local control, so that the local partners can make decisions. DFJ is still very active in China (through our affiliates). It's just that we've made a shift in strategy to make decision-making more local. This does not impact any of our global network (funds), including DFJ Dragon and DFJ Compass. Q: DFJ first entered the Chinese market in 1999 with a partnership with ePlanet Capital, running a US$650 million fund. How did that fund get started? A: I have always wanted to invest in China. In the beginning, we invested in things that seemed to have good government connections. Those didn't work out. Then we started to invest in young, driven entrepreneurs who wanted to make great things happen. Then we invested in Baidu, Focus Media, ePay, Fastweb, Skype, etc. Q: This fund reportedly realized over 30% gross internal rate of return (IRR)? A: We never disclose this information. But the investors are very happy. The IRR would depend on when the investor sold their Baidu (stocks). If they are still holding (those shares), they are doing really, really well. Q: But DFJ ended the partnership, and started DFJ Dragon in 2006. Why did you move on with another partner? A: We had different approaches to venture capital. ePlanet went on to raise their own fund, and we set up DFJ Dragon, DFJ China and DFJ Compass. Q: DFJ Dragon's first fund was a US$200 million vehicle raised in 2006… A: No, it's less than that. Q: Less than US$200 million, and you invested in around 30 companies. What are some proud investments from that fund? Q: YeePay looks very promising. Hudong is exciting too. It's a for-profit Wikipedia in China. Also, advertising network for mobile Donson is growing very quickly too. What's really remarkable about that fund is that…here in Silicon Valley, if we invest in 30 companies, we would expect about half of them to go out of business. But DFJ Dragon only lost one, maybe two companies out of 30. Q: Why do you think that is? A: For one thing, the growth rate in China is providing great opportunities. If their business isn't quite working out, they might change direction a little bit and go after other opportunities. Q: For those companies that didn't work out, what went wrong? A: They tend to be either too early, the founders didn't get along, or they came up with their product and nobody wanted it. So our business is very simple. If the founders are getting along, they keep at it no matter what, don't run out of money, and find a market of customers who they can delight,
This week JD goes on a time travel adventure to revisit Wilderness Episode 1 where we originally reviewed Q-Less and the Disturbing Picard mask. In this weeks episode we dig our claws into the omnipotent Q and how he didn’t quite fit into the DS9 formula. Then we do a real time review of the episode Q-Less
Q-Less. When DS9 premiered in 1993 the writers wasted no time in bringing one of TNG's favorite characters to the show. Q makes his first—and only—appearance in the sixth episode of the series, and the pairing with Sisko did not necessarily work as well as the pairing with Picard. Couched within this unusual Q story is an interesting commentary by one Star Trek series about its predecessor. In this episode of The Ready Room we're joined by Brian Finifter and Tristan Riddell as we discuss the episode “Q-Less” as well as Q in general and the nature of the society portrayed in Star Trek. In news we cover the TNG EXPOsed panel scheduled for the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo, IDW's Star Trek/Dr. Who Crossover Comic, IDW's other May 2012 Star Trek titles, Hasbro's KRE-O bricks and KREON figures, and movie news and rumors including Chris Pine's battle with his former agency, Quinto's comments about the next film's story, Cumberbatch's intensity, and Greenwood's contentment. Plus we reveal another of our rejected Star Trek IV plots and Greg channels Simon Pegg.
Discussing DS9 Episodes 5-8. "Babel" (405), "Captive Pursuit" (406), "Q-Less" (407), "Dax" (408).
