Welcome to the Digital Tourism Show Episode 271 and in this 5-min workshop I want you to do something a little more creative. Tours operators, guides and customer facing staff all have one thing in common and that is interacting with customers. They show their passions for their destinations, share their stories and guide them through the amazing things a destination has to offer. If this is you, you have got what it takes to do what you do day in, day out, in video format and share on social media so other potential customers can get to know you before booking. This helps make a connection even before you meet them in person. I understand that many of you are a little put off recording video as you start thinking about how you are going to edit the footage, add music or add a nice intro… forget all that. With this workshop I am going to make it super easy for you. All I want you to do is take your phone, head out to a nice part of your destination that you know well, maybe a hidden gem, and film one 30 second video per day for the next 7 days and post up, as raw as it may be, on your social platforms. This will get you not only used to recording video, but also allow you to test how your audience on your social platforms engage with it. Was there a specific video that really engaged with your audience? If so, maybe more of this type of content will help persuade someone to book with you. To help, I have provided a guide on planning and shooting video, which you can download in the show notes below. I love video marketing so I can't wait to see what you all produce and feel free to post some of your best videos in the comments section of the relevant post on my Facebook Group. Download our guide: https://tourismmarketing.agency/tourism-marketing-reports/ Join our Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/digitaltourismshow

The videos collected in the Anthony Alvarez shooting was released late last week with by the Citizen Office of Police Accountability (COPA). One of those videos was from a home security camera outside the house where the shooting occurred. From the video is seems like Alvarez never did anything that could be construed as threatening towards the officer. The video shows Alvarez fleeing from the officer on foot, falling down, and then continuing to run before the officer shoots him multiple times. From what we can see on the video we cannot think of any legitimate reasons for the officer to have shot Alvarez that evening despite any rhetoric you will hear from police officials and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). in a short time after releasing the video COPA recommended that the officer be stripped of his police powers. They usually only do this when they believe their is good reason to believe they will be recommending the termination of the officer for his/her actions in the case being investigated. The spin from the FOP has been as long as an offender possesses a weapon and is holding it or trying to grab it they are empowered to shoot the person. This of course flies in the face of common sense but this is an organization that flies in the face of common sense routinely. The election of John Catanzara, who has almost 50 complaints against him, defies all kinds of logic. The inability of the FOP to ever voice a negative word about shootings like the Alvarez and McDonald shootings proves the organization has no interest in reforming their practices. EP 39: Video Marketing with Shootsta's Chad Lakin In Episode 39, Tyler and Andy start off by discussing Nike's new campaign with Collin Kaepernick and the brand strategy behind it. Then, Chad Lakin, the VP of Shootsta North America, shares his insights about what marketers can do to get the most value out of their video content, and how brands can position themselves to be successful in a B2B space. Chad talks about why Shootsta was created: as a solution to businesses looking to create a high volume of quality videos at a low cost. He says that the previous model of video content creation, involving large production teams, high costs, and long post-production periods, is no longer viable in today’s rapidly changing marketing landscape. Instead, due to the expectation of brands to create a much higher volume of short-form content for social media platforms, Chad advises companies to shift their focus onto story and authenticity. Throughout his talk with Tyler, Chad gives various tips on different types of videos for different platforms, including live video tips for Facebook and strategy for long form and short form content. Ultimately though, he urges brands to be thoughtful about where their content will be and what message they want to convey, and to personalize videos for the audience they are trying to reach. He leaves listeners with the advice that video does not have to be expensive, time consuming, or difficult. Join Tyler, Andy, and Chad in this conversation about video marketing best practices. We are coming up on fall and that means it is time for all of the new smartphones to be released - and one of the features everyone looks for in their smartphone is the camera. The cameras on phones are improving every year and have made shooting video on your phone so easy to do. David Basulto saw this trend and decided to help us all shoot better video with our phones. While he was a film teacher at a local high school David Basulto decided he wanted to help his students use the tools they already have to shoot video. And that's where he came up with the cases he creates at iOgrapher. His company took off in 2013 and quickly he was seeing his cases being used by the Miami Dolphins, the Boston Celtics, and even Steven Speilberg! David has also written a book which explains all that you need to know about shooting video with your phone or tablet. The book came out last December and is called Life. Camera. Action.: How to Turn Your Mobile Device into a Filmmaking Powerhouse Also - joining Erin Sparks and Tom Brodbeck in the studio is AJ Ablog, the founder, and Visual Director of Ablog Cinema. AJ is a great videographer in Indianapolis and he assists Site Strategics in all of our video work. GIVEAWAY We are also going to be giving away some product from iOgrapher - If you comment on the Facebook Live video, you'll be entered to win a FREE case from iOgrapher! To enter the contest, leave your comment on this video: You have until Thursday 8/31 at 2:59 p.m. to enter and we'll announce the winners on our Facebook Live at 3 p.m. on 8/31.
