The Rockettes kicked off a celebrity line-up including Elizabeth Taylor, Liza Minelli, Jimmy Stewart, Al Pacino and Miss Piggy at ‘The Night of 100 Stars', a benefit for the Actors Fund of America recorded on 14th February, 1982 at Radio City Music Hall, New York. A night of sheer glitz and excess, the true tally of stars on-stage totalled 206 - but perhaps that's what you'd expect for $1000 per ticket and a bum-numbing running time of five-and-a-half hours. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly question the star-counting mechanic for the New York Yankees; explain how the assasination of Abraham Lincoln inspired the foundation of the Actor's Fund in 1882; and marvel at the long-windedness of this televised tribute to the charity's centenary… Further Reading: • ‘Bask in the Bewildering '80s Glamour of 'Night of 100 Stars'' (Jezebel, 2016): https://jezebel.com/bask-in-the-bewildering-80s-glamour-of-night-of-100-sta-1759236215/amp • ‘Glamor Glut' (The Washington Post, 1982): https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1982/02/16/glamor-glut/7ff21880-5540-4c20-acb4-fa5832781184/ • ‘VIDEO: The Night of 100 Stars' (ABC, 1982): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkgaJobbIPg Love the show? One cannot overemphasize the importance of plant/pollinator interactions. The world as we know it would not exist without these complex components of ecology. Getting good data, and more importantly, making those data useful is important in conserving and restoring plants and their pollinators. Join my and Dr. Chris Cosma of Conservation Biology Institute as we explore how he and his colleagues are working to bring plant/pollinator interactions to the forefront. You and I will inevitably muddle up our lives. In fact, we'll do it multiple times over our lifetimes. We'll make poor decisions, cave in to pressure, end up beset by circumstances, and even take matters into our own hands. And the whole thing will be muddled. Confusing. Bewildering. Unclear. It will be as if we're covered in mud and unable to see our way clear. David got himself in such situations on multiple occasions. Last Sunday we looked at one such time in 1 Samuel 21:10-22:5, and our message this week in Psalm 34 is David's song written about that incident. The theme is our gratitude to God knowing that he hears us in our muddleness, cares for us in our pain, teaches us in our ignorance, and makes promises to us about that day when all the mud is scraped off for good. It's going to be a great Thanksgiving Sunday together. Francis Schaeffer, True Spirituality Disciple says we are people who spend our lives being apprenticed to our master, Jesus Christ. We are in a growing-learning relationship, always. There's a lot of bad news in the world. I think you would agree with that. And. One of the reasons I like going to church, other than the fact that I'm the pastor, I'm supposed to be there. is that you get to actually hear some good news? Well, the disciples 2000 years ago, it was Easter was not the first one was not and is not a good time.
There are four different versions. Stories of the resurrection. Each one has its own unique little perspective. Luke was a doctor. He was a physician, and he brings out more of the compassion of Jesus than than any of the gospel writers, probably because that's the physician's heart that Luke himself had. You know, the story, about Jesus and about, Friday and the crucifixion.

In this inspiring episode of The Wild We Share, we're joined by Yvonne Leow, the visionary founder of Bewilder. Yvonne shares her transformative journey from a non-outdoorsy background to creating a unique outdoor education company that brings the essence of nature to urban environments. Her story begins in Washington state and leads to remarkable adventures, from backpacking in the Eastern Sierra to climbing Aconcagua. Yvonne's vision with Bewilder is to make nature accessible and appealing, particularly in urban settings. She highlights how Bewilder began as a newsletter catering to beginner campers and backpackers and then shifted focus towards families, driven by the pandemic's challenges and opportunities. Yvonne's pivot to family-oriented outdoor experiences led to the creation of Bewilder Base Camp, a concept that transforms urban spaces into pop-up campgrounds, igniting the imaginations of children and their parents alike. Throughout the conversation, Yvonne reflects on the lessons learned from her entrepreneurial journey, the importance of mentors, and the personal growth she experienced. Her commitment to redefining what it means to be outdoorsy is evident as she discusses creating experiences that bridge the gap between the concrete jungle and the wild, making nature a part of everyday urban life. Yvonne's story is a testament to the power of nature to inspire, rejuvenate, and connect us. Her work with Bewilder exemplifies how innovative thinking can make the outdoors more inclusive and accessible, encouraging more families to explore and appreciate the natural world around them. Join us as we dive into this conversation with Yvonne, learning about the intersection of nature, entrepreneurship, and the quest to bring the outdoors into our urban lives. France has some weirdly inexpensive train tickets, for example the AVANTAGIO' FUTÉ deal in southwestern France this summer that offers flat fares from €3 upwards, well below normal levels. no need to book in advance. There are some even more extreme deals, such as just €1 for a rail journey of almost two hours from Beziers to Millau. Many €1 buses run implausible long distances too. Enneagram type Fives often feel they did not get some of the instructions everyone else was handed about how to be human. Deep and cerebral, Fives sometimes become a bit bewildered about how to effectively bring their ‘inner world' outside to the rest of us, or, when, how and for how long to allow us access to their full self. As a result they can default to hoarding their time, space and energy in an unconscious manner and doing life and relationships primarily thorough their head space. This can result in them losing touch with the fullness of their heart and body centers, which can cause great anxiety and suffering for our beloved Fives and frustration for those of us who want to know and love them well. But when a Five has suffered enough, they can start the grace-journey of re-integrating all that they were created to be, beginning to re-collect the true, beautiful and good pieces of self they left behind in childhood. They can begin to understand - in a deeper, more precise way - how they were crafted by God and relax into their blessedness and live out their unique blessing and giftedness for the world. Join us as delightful ennea-type Five Alison Robinson - Shakespearean actress, therapist, Mom and pastor's wife - shares that ongoing journey back to her unique fullness, including dealing with mental health issues, cultural expectations and why she didn't get to “crush the pandemic” as she had hoped. Also: we get a tantalizing teaser on how we will all get deeper access to the inner life of Fives (and ourselves) in Alison's soon-to-be-published sci-fi / fantasy novel!

Finally, as many Americans are traveling in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the CDC and other public health organizations continue to warn people around the world to take extra precautions as COVID-19 infections continue to rise.
