Each of us is good at something; the hard part, perhaps, is finding out what we are good at. But once we have that figured out, we need to be brave and walk towards the tiny light at the end of the tunnel. Our faith and courage will give us the strength to put the backpack on and slog into the tunnel, and we will see the light become brighter, and we will eventually emerge on the other side, victorious. We must have an open mindset, never say no to new challenges, and, like in today's story, be willing to move beyond our tribes to expand our views. Joining me today is Patti Pao - Founder and CEO at Restorsea LLC. She has a BS in Business Administration and Management from the University of California, in Berkeley, and a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School. She has vast experience in Brand Management and sales. Patti worked as Sr. Manager in Avon, Vice President Brand Manager in David's Bridal, and CEO of The Pao Principle LLC. With Restorsea, she created the first efficacious, clinically-tested, naturally-derived anti-aging skincare line, thanks to her curiosity and talent. In this episode, we talked about when and how she decided she wasn't a good marketer, despite being a very successful one. She shared the incredible story of how a visit to a salmon hatchery in Norway ended up creating her successful skincare line. We spoke about what she learned from luxury goods and the "keep threading the needle" attitude. We also talked about how COVID affected her business and how the pandemic helped her discover she is a wartime leader. Tune in and listen to Episode 34 of Moving Beyond Your Tribe and hear Patti's fantastic story about how moving beyond her tribe changed her life completely. Some Questions I Ask:What took you to Norway? Technology For Mindfulness

Many people believe that mindfulness meditation is about stopping thoughts from popping into our heads, which is, needless to say, impossible. As they can't prevent themselves from having thoughts, that belief makes them stop trying mindfulness meditation. Mindfulness meditation is not about preventing our minds from having thoughts but being aware of them. And being aware of those thoughts is different from knowing we have them; the difference might seem subtle but is massive. Today, my guest is the mindfulness teacher, Brother Dave Kenneally, former Sargeant in the US Marine Corps and former Buddhist Monk in the Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh tradition. He travels the world spreading his knowledge, teaching business leaders, yoga instructors, cancer patients and their families, teens, and military veterans, among many others. He is a Certified Teacher of the Search Inside Yourself Program and an Ordained member of the Order of Interbeing. We had a joyful conversation about his mentors and their teachings along his journey and how they impacted him, the meaning of mindfulness, and the gifts the Zen tradition has to offer. He explained the concept of "understanding is love," and he also talked about why he decided to become a monk. Tune in to Episode 93 of Technology for Mindfulness and listen to Dave's fascinating story about love, reaching mindfulness, and awareness. Some Questions I Ask: What's your story and how did you get started with mindfulness? (5:23)Can you talk about where gentleness and self-compassion fit your own development and in your own teaching? (12:34)You've been talking primarily about attitudes towards yourself, your own feelings, your own thoughts, and cultivating it from that direction. If I'd like to be more compassionate, how do I just go ahead? (18:08)Is there anything you can share about how you've been able to bring your own mindfulness practices to bear on this extremely challenging time? In this episode of the Millionaire Mindcast, we have a spectacular guest, Chris Harder who shares experience, insights, and tips to make your dream lifestyle, financial literacy, building the budget and money management, the timeline for unlocking real ROI and success, the formula for any kind of come back, how to level up business revenue during these COVID-19 times and much more about wealth building! Chris Harder is an entrepreneur, executive life & career coach, philanthropist, entrepreneurial and public speaking coach, motivational speaker, investor, and host of the For The Love Of Money Podcast, a show that shares the secrets, tips, and incredible stories of how successful people have risen to the top, and what they’ve done to make this world a better place as a result of their success. During the last recession, Chris and his wife started over again. They stripped everything not just financially but everything that comes along with it. Why did it happen? He admits they didn’t take care of their money and didn’t take it seriously. It came to the point that everything they’ve put in their house ends in Craigslist and judged by their neighbors. It was the most humiliating point of his life from an ego and financial standpoint. But it turned out to be the best point of their life as he found their runaway, and invented a new income source. Chris believes that opportunity changes shape, therefore, he took advantage of it and recognizes where and how it is changing.  Just like finding ways how to bring your business revenue to the next level during these COVID times, and not screwed like anyone else. But adapting the changes in people’s behavior and innovating. Furthermore, patience, clarity, and making pivots in order to get the destination and outcome you’ve wanted.  By living within your means and not being scared of the numbers. Figure out how much it does actually need to make to cover either today's budget or the dream budget. Don’t let social media actually lose the touch of the actual value of a dollar or a hundred or a million.  In addition, Chris emphasizes to start not giving in the dark but where people see it to start the positive chain reaction for others to be inspired with and do the same. However, it is fine to go through selfish motivation first in order to get to the unselfish motivation. You just have to enjoy the journey, enjoy the ride, get the things, create the income-producing machine, and when you finally get that calling of giving, then lean into it. As an advocate of multiple income sources, Chris suggests building a lifestyle as though if any one of your income sources went away today, you would have not to change your lifestyle tomorrow!   Some Questions I Ask: What do you say to the person right now that might be starting their financial journey or maybe hit a rock bottom and COVID wipe them out or crashed their business or made some bad investment decisions and they’re really looking to pull themselves up? (01:21) How long should somebody be thinking about living below their means and when is it time to start having freedom to spend your money where you wanted to?   (08:07) What is your ideology around budgeting and financial rhythm or how to enhance financial literacy around money management? (11:11) What people maybe should start thinking about now that might infuse motivation, inspiration, and passion for their wealth-building journey on what can be unlocked on the other side as well? (16:21) What should people think about as they start building up their wealth, accumulation of funds, and opportunity to disperse and play those things?  (19:52) What should people be thinking in terms of patience and the timeline for unlocking real success? (22:33) What are some of the greatest areas people can focus on that will get them real ROI in the term of their wealth-building journey? (24:27)  In This Episode, You Will Learn: Chris lowest point in life (01:48) The formula for any kind of comeback (03:13) The good thing about finding your runway (03:43) How to triple your business revenue during these COVID times (05:30) How social media make us actually lose in touch of the actual value of a dollar (15:48) How to start the positive chain reaction on giving (18:12) Getting into the selfish motivation to get into the unselfish motivation – what does it mean (19:32) Chris’ Rule of Thumb and Recipe to Live the Dream Lifestyle Tomorrow (20:47) Why you should not rush out to buy a home to live in (26:46) When is the safe time to finally buy your own home you want to live in with (28:56) What are you guys thinking in terms of where your energy, effort, and money is gonna maybe be allocated towards in this market cycle over the next 5, 10 years? (29:30) Quotes: “It was the most humiliating point of my life but is also the best point of my life.”  “Opportunity is a lot like energy, it never goes away, it just changes form.”  “It’s okay to not be there yet because you will get there.” “When you get to, there must be more.”  “Live as though, build a lifestyle as though if any one of your income sources went away today, you would have not to change your lifestyle tomorrow.”    Connect with Chris Harder on: Instagram Fortheloveofmoney.com/free LinkedIn

We’ve all had those days. You know, those days: the kind that make you want to turn off your phone, pull the covers back over your head, and just disappear for a while. But what do we do instead? We get up, we drink way too much coffee, and then look at ourselves in the mirror and tell ourselves to power up and push through - which is the exact opposite of what your body is signaling you to do. If that pressure is so unnatural, then why do we force ourselves to abide by it? In this episode, Karlee sits down for a vibrant conversation with Michela O’Connor Abrams, former CEO of Dwell Magazine, and Owner of Moca+ in San Francisco. Her agency puts design thinking at the forefront of media campaigns for an impressive list of global clientele. Michela is a sought after keynote speaker who shares her wisdom of leadership to help people better understand how to effectively inspire teams to work as a whole. Michela believes in the power of the collective team. When a leader is grounded, humble in their execution of authority, and asking questions rather than stating demands, the organization thrives. In order to achieve all of those things, leaders need to approach their teams as humans. Her leadership philosophy is based on the idea that we’re not put in these human bodies, full of feelings, just to bottle up our emotions and pretend that everything is ok. Bottling it up just gets you behind. Today we’re talking about a new form of leadership that’s actually built around humbleness - as in, groundedness. It’s not modesty, and it’s definitely not weakness. It’s an example of leadership that has driven Michela’s success. Knowing what to share and when to share it will actually strengthen the tapestry of your company, and the entire collective fabric of women in leadership. If you’re ready to find out how to show strength through vulnerability, effectively process your feelings, and help build the greater collective consciousness of women allies everywhere, then this episode is for you. Some Questions I Ask:What are some of the entry-level steps that got you interested in design and leadership? (7:39)How do you know when it’s time to move on? (10:27)How did you first recognize that humility was an important component of who you were? (15:01)What does resilience look like when you're not toughing it out? (31:50)How did you gauge what was appropriate to talk about with your team in moments of vulnerability? (40:51)If you came with a warning label, what would it say? (50:41)What is one thing you know to be true? (52:38)In This Episode You Will Learn:Why it’s ok not to know everything (9:27)What humility in leadership looks like (13:43)How to know when it’s time to speak up and when it’s time to observe (22:27)How shaking things up can actually result in better outcomes (25:54)The true definition of resilience (32:28)How to partake in the collective conscience (45:28)How to identify what you really want (51:16)People Mentioned In This Episode: Shelley Tatum KieranResources Mentioned In This Episode: Episode 48: Rising Together: Hear Revolutionary Career-Driven Women Share Their Wits & Wisdom Inside Our Podcast Pajama Party Collective Conscience — The MOCA+ Salon SeriesThe Thank-You Project: Cultivating Happiness One Letter of Gratitude at a Time by Nancy Davis Kho Connect with Michela O'Connor Abrams:LinkedInMOCA+Connect With Karlee: WebsiteLinkedInInstagramMessy and Magnificent is produced by the folks at Ginni Media.
