This week it's Rush Dorsett who's keeping Alexa company. Rush is a voice coach, performing artist, and founder of the Embodied Voice Academy. She has earned accolades in voice science, psychology, and sound healing. Rush is passionate about weaving together spiritual tools with vocal awakening practices to access a singer's highest potential. She is here to discuss the benefits of sound healing for singers and busy teachers like us. KEY TAKEAWAYS YogaVoice® is a unique 21st century synthesis of the eight-limbs of Classical Yoga technology and Systematic Vocal Technique (SVT). The application of these principles to the lives and work of both professional and amateur singers can facilitate self-awareness and artistic empowerment. Rush has found that when teaching she often finds some kind of energetic imbalance in the students' sound. When this happens she tries not to focus on the classic techniques as that would just be paving over the cracks. This is when she turns to her alignment techniques to get to the root cause of the imbalance. The mission of Embodied Voice is to serve conscious creatives who are seeking to connect with their true voice, go deeper in their vocal practice, find ease in singing, embody powerful presence, and have the tools they need to create their own sustainable vocal practice. The seven major chakras Rush teaches are: 1) Root - stability, grounding; 2) Sacral - creativity, emotions; 3) Solar Plexus - personal power; 4) Heart - love, compassion; 5) Throat - communication; 6) Third Eye - intuition; 7) Crown - spiritual connection. Each corresponds to different aspects of well-being. BEST MOMENTS ‘Being a part of a community really built my confidence' ‘I was seeing the results of this energetic and physical body alignment helping and supporting the anatomical alignment for healthy vocal technique' ‘When we are connected to our root chakra, our physical body aligns' ‘Authenticity often requires deconditioning ourselves' EPISODE RESOURCES Guest Website: https://rushdorsett.com Social Media: Instagram: @rushdorsett Rush's FREEBIE - Discover your Vocal-Chakra Alignment Relevant Links & Mentions: The Yoga Voice Method from Mark Moliterno: https://theyogavoice.com/ (Book) The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron (Book) There's No Place Like Ohm by Donna Carey and Marjorie de Muynck (Podcast) Quantum Minds TV by Dr Theresa Bullard-Whyke: https://theresabullard.com/qmtv-episodes/ Contact Rush directly: rush@rushdorsett.com BAST Book A Call ABOUT THE GUEST Rush Dorsett is a Voice Coach and Performing Artist who supports creatives in awakening their authentic voice, embodying their power, and freeing their self-expression in singing, speaking, and performing. Are you 'standing in your Truth'? Is that just an ego trip? Is it selfish to be your Self? There seems to be some confusion about what it means to 'stand in your Truth'. What is my truth? Am I allowed to be myself? What does that even mean? What about other people? If I'm true to myself, it could hurt others. If I'm true to myself, my life might fall apart! Yes. When we truly 'stand in our truth', we find out whether our carefully constructed life can withstand it. Was it a real life? Or a fake one? As we said last week, courage is the price of admission for self-initiation on the spiritual path. In this final Q&A we get to the heart of the matter and strip away all the habits and justifications we use as bandaids and ways to avoid actually growing. We'll talk about... how to tell the difference between standing in your truth and ego tripping or self-inflation whether thinking is necessary for survival the higher purpose of spiritual relationships how to use the four phrases of Ho'oponopono in a real life situation so you can attract more and more and 'do' less and less what's the point of doing spiritual work if it makes your life fall apart? And more in this final episode of Season 3. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Bonus Links! In today's Q&A, we invite the intellect over for tea and listen to all the ego's 'yeah, buts'. Well, maybe not ALL... The egoic mind is full of resistance to spiritual truth. But there is another part of us that recognizes it when we hear it. When that part of us outweighs the ego's resistance, the thirst for growth becomes all-consuming. But you have to be willing to go deep if you really want to be free. Courage is the price of admission to your True Self. This panoply of perfect puzzlers in this episode represents our attempt to finesse answers from our True Self and leap from one paradigm to another. This Q&A is a journey from the mind to the heart, the 3rd dimension to the 5th dimension, the linear to the nonlinear. Today we're grappling with... the consequences of manifesting from push energy as opposed to consciously surrendering to the highest good the excuses, reasons and rationalizations we offer ourselves and others to avoid going to the deep and dark places that birth us back into the Light real life examples of taking radical responsibility, and how it puts us on a higher timeline the difference between letting go and passivity the ego's love affair with victim consciousness and how to get over your own drama And much more! Join me as we explore and discover more thanks to your questions. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Bonus Links! During this third season of The Grace Space, I've shared spiritual keys of inner alchemy with you, and gone deep in the telling of some of the stories of my own journey on the Path of Grace. Your messages of gratitude have really touched me -- and your questions too! I promised you I would dedicate an entire episode to addressing those questions collected during the course of this season so you can go deeper. It turns out to be more than one episode! Thanks to your interest and your courageous questions, we will spend the next few episodes in exploring them. In today's episode, we'll talk about... the EGO! Understanding its origin, function, and how to free yourself from its limiting programs so you can let go the burdens of the past and truly come alive Why we forget our True Nature and get lost behind the veil of illusion The true dynamic at the root of nearly ALL relationships and why we need to be honest, admit it, and own it Therapy, digging up the past, and the difference in focus between therapy and spiritual work an exercise you can use to discover what your life lessons are and the underlying purpose of difficult relationships And much more, including grandiose toasters, my ego's nickname, and a really loud computer fan. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Bonus Links!
