Many of us experience ego death through psychedelics, but what happens when someone actually dies and returns to share their insights? Kyle Buller, co-founder of Psychedelics Today, had his life transformed at 16 after a traumatic snowboarding accident left him with a profound near-death experience (NDE). In this episode, Kyle shares his journey from navigating his NDE to exploring altered states of consciousness through psychedelics, transpersonal psychology, and Holotropic Breathwork.Kyle and Lana discuss how these extraordinary states can catalyze personal transformation, the critical importance of integration, and why taking time to slow down is essential for practitioners and explorers alike. In the meat of this conversation, they also explore the concept of spiritual emergence, a phenomenon where transformative experiences can lead to personal crises or growth, and how to navigate the fine line between awakening and overwhelm. Together, they examine the responsibility of psychedelic work and the need for cultural frameworks to support those undergoing these profound shifts.Topics Covered:Gaps in the psychedelic education spaceSupporting individuals through different phases of psychedelic workWhy bother having an expanded state of consciousnessHow to make the most out of challenging psychedelic experiencesPumping the breaks on transformational work and grounding into the everydayHow Kyles NDE at age 16 changes his perspective on life and deathSpiritual emergence and emergency: when mystical experiences create crisisCommon symptoms, challenges and experiences during a spiritual emergenceEgo Inflation as Spiritual EmergencyAdvocates of psychedelics need to be honest about the challengesKyle's deeply destabilizing experience with LSD (depersonalization & derealization)Sponsors:Natural Shilajit10% off with LANA10OFFKanna Wellness10% off with LANAShow Links:Vital Psychedelic Training: Learn more herePsychedelics Today Podcast: Visit hereBooks: Spiritual Emergency: When Personal Transformation Becomes a Crisis and The Stormy Search for the Self by Stanislav and Christina GrofSpiritual Emergence as Ego Inflation (Jules Evans article about Sowilo Retreats)

— Holotropic Breathwork is based on the belief that each of us is guided by our own intrinsic wisdom, and that the opportunity for healing past traumas of the physical and/or emotional body or opportunities for opening a new doorway to creative flow lies within us - always available - as we become more aware of our natural ability to awaken to our authentic selves and our highest potential. Journeying in this expanded state, our psyche allows select biographical, transpersonal or mythological/spiritual material from our internal landscape to float to the surface of our conscious mind. As we feel safely supported, we are more likely to give ourselves the space and permission to work with and integrate this material for deeper understanding. The term ‘holotropic' means “moving toward wholeness.” Valeria interviews Yulia Meshoyrer  — She is a Russian-born distinguished Grof-certified Holotropic Breathwork facilitator dedicated to the transformative technique developed by Stan and Christina Grof.  Her extensive qualifications include an MA degree in General Psychology from Russia and an MA in Transpersonal Psychology from Sofia University. In case you didn't realize… the Piscean Dark Ages are over. We have officially transitioned into the Golden Era of the Aquarian Age. Now's the time for us to finally reclaim our power from our past, from dark forces and people, organizations, and experiences outside of ourselves, from our inner demons, and from anyone or anything that has hooked onto our energies. Because we are now in the Golden Age, it's time for us to shine our light and be unapologetically who we are at the core. After three years of navigating through seizures, purging from New Age False Light, and reclaiming my power back from multiple sexual traumatic experiences from my childhood, I've seen loud and clear that God had me navigate through my recent challenging experiences for a reason, for me to not only reclaim my power but for me to step up as a compassionate leader in the world of psychedelics and mental health. As someone who struggled with mental health challenges her entire life and even called a suicide hotline in college, I've dedicated the last 11 years since I had a difficult LSD trip from a Spiritual Emergency and after I was struck by lightning to devote my time and energy to my deep healing journey. Little did I know that the result of saying yes to the challenge would forever revolutionize my life and the way I see the world.Even with years of working with psychedelics, therapy, yoga, meditation, and overall self-discovery, it wasn't until I started to experience seizures that I started to witness and experience a deeper sense of purpose as to why I endured what I did throughout the years. Not only did I have multiple experiences of meeting Jesus, but I also discovered who I am at the core, something I always knew was deep within but never this good.Embracing my upbringing of growing up in the church, my passion for spiritual understanding, and my deep appreciation and gratitude for psychedelics and how they've been a major catalyst in my mental health journey, I see myself as a leader in the world of psychedelic therapy as it relates to bridging the worlds of psychedelic therapy and spiritual emergencies. Not only do I share my experience with seizures and how I've been healing myself naturally in this episode, but my deeper intention for this episode is to be that beacon of light to those who may be struggling with their mental health to know that they aren't alone and that there are solutions out there to better support them on their journey towards recovery, wholeness, and healing. PSA. I am not a doctor. I am personally sharing my experience for entertainment purposes. Please always consult your doctor about your journey and ways of being and doing it before getting off or changing any medications. In this episode, I talk about...◆ How reclaiming my power back from childhood sexual trauma has allowed me to heal my body, mindset, and sexuality◆ Releasing shame around Spiritual Emergencies and difficult psychedelic trips◆ My recent seizure journey and why I feel I've been navigating through seizures◆ Matthew 17:21 and why I believe this verse has been taken out of most versions of the Bible◆ Changing the narrative and dropping stigmas around mental health◆ Why I recently burned all my tarot decks and oracle decks after my last seizure◆ Deeper understanding of having the faith of a mustard seed◆ The drive to be the messenger on how psychedelic therapy can support those who are struggling with mental health challenges◆ Connecting the dots from childhood to realize the more profound soul mission and purpose...plus so much moreWEBSITE | http://www.sabrinariccio.com/linksINSTAGRAM | http://www.

Dr. Tim Read is a psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and author based in London.  He joins us on the show to discuss the deep unconscious, complexes, being triggered, and why we need a new way to treat mental illness. We talk about the difference between spiritual crisis and psychosis; how modern psychiatry is broken; and why psychiatrists should undergo psychedelic therapy. Additionally, we explore the difference between being in process and processing; how our triggers are an opportunity to step into our healing journey; the role of relationships in our healing; how to help shift culture and community to better support people in crisis; how to support people in psychotic delusion (without colluding in their delusions); and the point at which we should involve psychiatric intervention. In this episode, with my good friend and colleague, Katrina Michelle, a psychotherapist specializing in spiritual integration, we discuss different kinds of spiritual experiences, why psychedelic therapies often are faster and more effective than talk therapy, and how people can heal from trauma through altered states. Spiritual emergence bordering on a spiritual emergency defines the fine line that psychedelic journeyers commonly tread when entering expanded states of awareness. Though both experiences are rooted in a visceral unveiling of truth, lack of proper therapeutic support or preparation can make us feel untethered, even producing psychotic-like symptoms. Jimmy and Nicholas discuss the work of Stan and Christina Grof, highlighting the notion of spiritual health in the context of Western diagnostic pathology. What defines a spiritual emergence and how can journeyers distinguish it from a spiritual emergency? Our hosts will examine how the timing of a spiritual emergence can translate into these often reality-blurring and physically incapacitating experiences. How does social conditioning influence our predisposition to a spiritual emergency in and out of a psychedelic event, and how can we create a supportive framework in preparation?Later, they'll explore how the desire for security can conflict with our search for meaning and purpose. Where does our relationship with ourselves intersect with our external perception of the world? Finally, they'll discuss why deep intrapersonal reflection is a prerequisite for safely engaging in this type of transformational work.Additional Resources:Episode TranscriptThe Effects of Psychedelic Therapy on Personality & SpiritualityPsychedelics and Spirituality in Non-Religious ContextsHow Psychedelics Can Tap Into Transpersonal Aspects of Reality     About Us:Psychedelic Passage is the nation's first psychedelic concierge service. Hawkins came into my awareness. His research into consciousness and my understanding of the Map of Consciousness helped me put into context the quantum nature of the spiritual awakening I experienced.Listen in as I share my story of a quantum spiritual awakening and what some signs and symptoms of a spiritual awakening could be for you. I also hint at the Drak Night of the Soul and what is known as a spiritual emergency.Based on consciousness research, I think it's safe to say that quantum spiritual awakenings are highly rare, so you don't necessarily have to"worry" about having one.But understanding the nature of a simpler spiritual awakening could help navigate. If you have questions, comments, or other topics you'd like me to address, please do so in the comments below. Here are Links to Purchase Dr. David R. Liminality is the place of no longer and the not yet. Liminal spaces are where the magic happens. This can also be a place of great discomfort. A place sometimes called, ‘crazy space.” Being in a liminal space can be incredibly uncomfortable for most. Brains crave homeostasis and predictability, and liminal space is everything but this. Death, divorce, loss, illness, the space in between making a decision are considered liminal spaces. This Ayahuasca path that I am on is forcing me to find ways to be in a permanent liminal space. A place between two realms, with one foot in this world and another in the spirit realm. I am having to hold so many paradoxes, that to my human mind if feels very confusing and scares the heck out of me. The shaman must know how to voyage inside herself & the great unknown without getting lost. To then steward others through these spaces. In the liminal space it is easy to feel lost. This is where I find myself at currently, learning to navigate and accept this liminal space. To find center in the groundless ground. One could say that I am losing my mind, but that is exactly what this space calls forth, crazy making. And in this place I am finding is so much power, so much wisdom, so much transformation, so much magic. It is a place where anything is possible.

Ayahuasca icaros, or ikaros, are traditional indigenous Amazonian songs that are performed as accompaniment to sacred plant healing ceremonies. They are musical prayers that embody the powers of spirits of plants and animals, deities, ancestors, and elemental forces. Channeled into this reality by Ayahuasca facilitators and Shamans, they are employed as efficient healing agents, powerful spirit weapons, or ineffable realm creators. Shamans learn icaros through years of training and communing with the plants, whose powers they are to use in healing or divinatory purposes. This training is commonly known as the ‘dieta,' During the ‘dieta,' shamans spend days & weeks in isolation from the community (but, not uncommonly, alongside other shamans in training), fasting on a basic diet which includes rice & plantains with no salt. They commune with the Master Plant once or a few times per day slowly gathering power, insight, and knowledge from the spirit world. Aside from food, they abstain from all other activities as well, leaving ample space for the Master Plant Teacher lessons to come through. Over the course of their training, future shamans slowly establish a strong connection with their plant teachers. As this resonance grows, the dreams, artistic inspiration and aptitude of the shaman diversify and develop as well. At some point, the apprentices are gifted with songs and chants, which they are to use for calling forth the lost souls and their spirit allies, and strengthening or modulating the actions of the plant spirits. I was gifted this haunting Icaro while I dieted an organic version of Agua De Florida. Florida Water is a mixture of several plants and has been used for centuries by healers for protection, cleansing and personal rituals. It is known as the Shaman's cleanse.

They take the form of non-ordinary states of consciousness and involve intense emotions, visions and other sensory changes, unusual thoughts as well as various physical manifestations. Episodes of this nature can be found in the life stories of shamans, founders of the great religions of the world, famous spiritual teachers, mystics, and saints. Mystical literature of the world describes these crises as important signposts of the spiritual path and confirms their healing and transformative potential. Mainstream psychiatrists do not differentiate psychospiritual crises, or even episodes of uncomplicated mystical experiences, from serious mental diseases, because of their narrow conceptual framework”. The Nutrition Translator Podcast

Ayahuasca forms the foundation of the indigenous plant medicine traditions of the Western Amazonian Shamanism, but the dieta plays a crucial role in building upon that foundation. It could be considered the support beams of the tradition, upon which the rest of the structure is built. So what is a dieta? In simple terms, a dieta is a contract made between a curandero, or student of curanderismo, and a particular plant spirit. For several days the dieter communes with the plant with no other distractions. No salt, sugar, spices, sex, touching others, electronics, or distractions. Food choices are limited to plantains, veggies and also fish if not vegetarian. The purpose of the dieta is to build a relationship with the plant spirit, and just like with building relationships with other people, the more sincere, honest, and well-intentioned attention a dieter gives to the plant spirit, the better the relationship will be. The spirit of the plant can be felt on subtle levels and dieters can become more aware of those sensations by directing their attention to them. A special bond is formed, a friendship between the dieter and the plant spirit. It is through this friendship that the curandero or student receives benefit from the relationship, the fruits of the dieta. This new friend provides information, guidance, and energy to assist in their personal healing process & can then call in these spirits into Ayahuasca ceremony to assist the passengers in their healing process. When dieting Sequoia last September, I experienced this massive tree as a gentle giant. His spirit was a beautiful purple color and this sweet melody came to me softly as I was looking out the window into the bright sky. As I hummed the melody the words & teachings came shortly after. Sequoia brings a sense of grounding and stability. If you are feeling swept up by life right now, listen to this Icaro to help calm your sweet soul back to your heart. Much love, Colleen

In this episode, we explore spiritual emergence, through the lens of transpersonal psychology, and holotropic states of being. I love how Jay points out the play on words between Spiritual Emergence and Spiritual Emergency. The initiation into our own spiritual awakening is about what is coming in and through us, and often this embodied experience can leave us with a sense of emergency/urgency of how to live from this new way. In the mid-90s, Jay followed experiences of spiritual emergence into the experiential doctoral program at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. Until transitioning into his roles for Grof Legacy Project, Jay has primarily worked as a lawyer/mediator while teaching and supervising dissertation research in transpersonal psychology. Jay has assisted the facilitation of holotropic breathwork in the US, Canada, UK, India and China and is a certified Grof® Breathwork Facilitator. He will act as a Director and Secretary-Treasurer for the Project and is particularly interested in developing the research branch of Grof Legacy Project, including projects using the lens of archetypal astrology to examine correlations between nonordinary state experiences and indications from transit and natal charts. Meet Belinda Gore Ph.D.Teacher, Psychologist, Coach, Artist, Author, And Speaker As a psychologist with graduate degrees in counseling psychology and in public administration, Belinda's career has covered a private practice in psychotherapy, working as a leadership consultant, and teaching executive and life coaching.  When she met anthropologist Felicitas Goodman in 1984, she was introduced to the artwork and religious worldview of indigenous people around the world.  Through Dr. Felicitas Goodman's student, friend, and colleague; she learned to use ritual ancient postures from that art to restore a fundamental human capacity for experiencing the invisible world of spirit.  For many years she served as Vice-President, then President, of the Cuyamungue Institute, founded by Dr. Goodman. Her books, Ancient Ritual Postures (2FriendsPress, 2020), The Ecstatic Experience: Healing Postures for Spirit Journeys (Bear & Company, 2009), and Ecstatic Body Postures: An Alternate Reality Workbook (Bear & Company, 1995) are essential materials for learning the practice of ritual postures.  They are the foundation for the workshops she has been teaching internationally for the past 30 years. The books have been translated into German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Polish. Her study of Jungian psychology began in college and she became a member of the Jung Association of Central Ohio from its inception in 1990.  For decades she taught dreamwork, as professional education for psychotherapists and general techniques for the general public.  Dreamwork was the basis for early exploration in expressive arts with an emphasis on collage as well as mask-making and dance.Currently, she teaches coaching based on the Enneagram system of personality typology and spiritual development while continuing to explore various process media as an artist and write about ritual postures, the Enneagram, and the spiritual journey. In this episode, Belinda Gore discusses:Her teacher Dr. Felicita's Goodman was an American linguist, an anthropologist who researched and explored ritual body postures for many years. The evolution of the sacred healing posturesThe different states of consciousness Howe to perceive the non-ordinary states of consciousness naturallyWhat is dreamwork and how to expand pathways in the brain to perceive the invisible world? The ancient practices of ecstatic posturesBelinda's first experience with the ecstatic healing posturesThe ritual aspect of preparation for an expanded awareness Divination with healing postures oracle cardsThe difference in the posture types, ritual, healing, and initiationWhat is healing and how can we use the postures to bring balance in the mind, body, and spirit? Is the current use of the ancient healing postures co-opting the traditions?Ancestor work, spirit connection, and the ongoing learning relationshipBelinda's learning through Jung, dreamwork, and Enneagram coachingBelinda's Handles:https://belindagore.comAncient Ritual Postures Oracle Cards & BookInstagram: @belinda_gore_ritual_posturesInspiration:1. Valerie Gangas is a speaker, transformational life coach and the author of Enlightenment is Sexy. With the passing of her mother in 2011 Valerie went into a deep depression being almost suicidal. A friend sent her to learn TM and her life was never the same after that first meditation experience. Looking back on her religious studies in College she realized that it was all book learning and what she was getting with her meditation was experience and knowingness at her core. Valerie and Corrine discover a deep connection as they  both had profound experiences with the TM Siddhis program. On this episode, I delve into what it was like to go through what some may call a Spiritual Awakening, but what I prefer to call a Spiritual Emergency. I speak about both the gifts and dangers of developing a spiritual practice, and how we often use spirituality, psychedelics and other forms of "magic" to avoid confronting our shadow. I speak about gurus, synchronicity, astrology, discernment, psychological projection and share my thoughts on "ascension," "5D" and other go-to spiritual concepts. This isn't an episode dismissing spirituality, but rather, a plea to bring nuance and critical thinking to the extremely useful & meaningful, (but often misused) practice of "Spirituality".  The book that I read from was Robert A. Johnson's Inner Gold. Songs featured: "Dream 13 (minus even)" by Max Richter, and "The Weaver" by Trevor Hall Interested in participating in the Lunar Circle?
