Send us a textEpisode 24 – It's Your Right To Brag...We start this episode off the right way-with a Riv's Rant! Rob Riv vents about how Bad Santa was treated when he was trying to help in a Beginner's Modeling group and an Admin was giving him grief about a misunderstanding on HIS part. But, we determined that is just how it is in some groups. Then we get into the conversation about our trip to Connecticut and Armorcon. The good, the meh and well....there wasn't too much ugly. It was a great show, with lots of amazing work to take in. Aromorcon Debrief leads into the topic of “Brag Books” and research of our builds and how it can benefit the builder, both in judges' scoring and buiding to accuracy. We also talk Turkey...Shoot that is! Its coming up fast. Four days of scale modeling debauchery! midnight Thanksgiving day to midnight the Sunday after, November 28th-December 1st. Stuart Goldsmith hates Duane Dibbley. There's your clickbait opener! In fact, the inventor of ‘comedians talking about comedy' proves to be massively in love with classic Dwarf - and hugely insightful about its craft and appeal. He talks about the influence and resonance each character has had on him over the years. And gives an insider's perspective on what it's really like to work with a BBC sci-fi special effects budget. Turning our attention to series 2 episode 6, Parallel Universe, we explore a concept with satirical potency far stronger than its creators now seem to believe. We discover an episode that's rich in social commentary and absolutely loaded with hilarity - from terrible chat-up lines and wonky inventions, through to indelible imagery and pitch-perfect performances. Well, trash our shorts. SO WHAT IS IT?Better Than Life is the pod where comedians talk Red Dwarf, the greatest sci-fi sitcom, one episode at a time. Stu G is a Swiss Army knife based in the Tennessee village called Nashville. He's a solo artist, producer, and lead guitarist for a slew of names but also the rock band Delirious?. What happened between the band's UK birth and when this podcast was taped? PUSH PLAY, MAN.

Few people (save The Edge himself) have had as great an impact on a generation of church guitarists as sir Stuart Garrard (aka Stu G). From his epoch-making time with Delirious to his second (or third?) life as a roving guitarist (with the likes of Michael W Smith & One Sonic Society) and a songwriter that has helped pen dozens of influential songs over the last decade, as well as his innovative work with guitar amp modelling… Stu has left a giant imprint. On top of all that, he has spent the better part of the last decade working on a multimedia reimagining of the most famous of Jesus' teachings (the Beatitudes) via a book, album, and documentary.Believe it or not, we get a chance to talk about most of that in an hour! Oh, and I even pick his glorious brain briefly about the latest research we've been releasing over at Worship Leader Research.I was beyond grateful for Stu's time, and for his heart. Musician and author Stu G tells the story of his incredible Beatitudes Project: an album, book, film, podcast and e-course. Spending more than a decade creating art based on the beatitudes has given Stu deep insight and fresh language for Jesus' words. Inspiring.
Delirious? (formerly known as The Cutting Edge Band) were an English contemporary Christian band. For the majority of their career, the lineup featured Martin Smith on vocals and guitar, Stu G (full name Stuart Garrard) on guitar and backing vocals, Jon Thatcher on bass guitar, Tim Jupp on keys and piano, and Stew Smith on drums and percussion. During their final two years, drumming duties were assumed by Paul Evans. They are perhaps best known for their modern worship songs "Rain Down", "Majesty", "Lord You Have My Heart", "Thank You for Saving Me", "Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble?", "What a Friend I've Found" and their 1994 song "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever", which has been called a "modern worship classic" On November 29th, 2009 they gave their final performance for a sold-out crowd at London's Hammersmith Apollo and have now officially disbanded. On this episode Chris and Jesse discuss and reflect on Delirious? in a RETROSPECTIVE We discuss their albums, the impact, and our take on the band as a whole. Plus some extra stuff sprinkled in there as well.

We'll look at a variety of complex issues from a variety of points of view, not necessarily to get to "right answers" but to build empathy and perspective. Today I am joined by Stu Garrard formerly of Delirious and now the creative mind behind The Beatitudes Project. Using film, music, and stories, Stu encourages people to discover the counter-intuitive way of following Jesus. Grab your favorite drink and get ready to be stirred to action as you listen to this compelling conversation with Stu G.
Stu G. The legend. Like many of us, I first learned about Stu through his epic guitar presence in the band, Delirious, who basically introduced the world to modern worship music. Over the years I have heard people talk about Stu in hushed whispers and deep reverence. People don’t just like his guitar playing; This is a guy who carries deep respect. About a year and a half ago I started to find myself in the same rooms and got to know him just a little and I understood immediately that this guy was a deep well. He’s spent the past few years curating a film / book / music and e-course project around the Beatitudes: Jesus’s “Blessed are the poor, Blessed are the weak…” teachings from the Sermon on the Mount. Plus, we got to chat about him playing guitar with Michael W Smith and me with Steven Curtis Chapman. Perhaps it’s about time that Stu G and I start a band called Secret Adventure. NOBODY KNEW HIS SECRET GREAT ADVENTURE!! To learn about The Beatitudes Project CLICK HERE Follow Stu on Instagram Guitar nerds! Get his tones for your Helix or Kemper! Most importantly, join us at the CHICKEN OF THE MONTH CLUB!!! Go to fh.org/pivot to sign up today! And here’s my music, if you’re interested… Thank you all! Stu G is one of the most influential guitarists in the history of modern Christian/Worship music. His band, Delirious?, completely changed the sound and direction of Christian music in the mid-1990s, and their indelible stamp is still felt to this day. In our Truetone Lounge interview, Stu takes us through his early years, to Delirious?, and how they toured with rock and pop bands, even sharing many bills with Bon Jovi. Mr. Garrard explains the end of his band, and his rebirth as a solo artist, and sideman/collaborator with Michael W. Smith. We also get a walk through his impressive collection of favorite guitars, amps, and his pedalboard with a massive array of tonal choices.

What does it mean to be a holy troublemaker in the world today? How can we know if we are being persecuted for Christ, or persecuted because we are unlike Christ? A robust conversation...with great music.

It was his idea to steal the Heart of Gold. but… was it? Probability The guide says that if you hold a lungful of air you can survive in the total vacuum of space for about thirty seconds, but the chances of getting picked up by another ship within that timeframe are two to the power of two-hundred-and-sixty-seven-thousand seven-hundred=and-nine to one against. R R is a velocity measure, defined as a reasonable speed of travel that is consistent with health, mental wellbeing and not being more than, say, five minutes late. It is therefore clearly an almost infinitely variable figure according to circumstances, since the first two factors vary not only with speed taken as an absolute, but also with awareness of the third factor. Voices In My Head Podcast Episode #211 with guest Stu GThe 5-star-acclaimed, multi-artist Beatitudes album made its debut on Yahoo! Music and released to digital and physical retailers worldwide from Stugiology Music with management, marketing and distribution through The Fuel Music. The album, which showcases 18 new tracks (plus 2 bonus tracks) from multiple GRAMMY and Dove Award-winning artists, leaders in their respective genres of Christian/Worship music, is called “uplifting and inspiring” by Entertainment Weekly, is featured along with Sheryl Crow, Incubus, Lana Del Rey and others in Apple Music's April 21 newsletter, and is JesusFreakHideout's first 5-star review of 2017. Featured on the cover of the current Christian Musician magazine, and with a CCM Magazine cover story set for this month amidst other features and reviews, the Beatitudes album is part of The Beatitudes Project (www.thebeatitudesproject.com, #TheBeatitudesProject), which is also a book, Words From The Hill (An Invitation to the Unexpected) available now from NavPress, and a documentary film, View From the Hill, currently in production. It is the culmination of GRAMMY-nominated, Dove Award-winning musician, producer and author Stu Garrard's (Stu G) 15-year excavation of these “blessings at the bottom of life.” “The guitarist and songwriter Stu G has spent the last two decades traveling the world to understand how poverty, prostitution, drug addiction, and sex trafficking have afflicted society globally. But he's turned those learning experiences into something uplifting and inspiring,” writes Entertainment Weekly as Yahoo! Music lauds The Beatitudes Project as “inspired by a rock star's two decades of world travel, and his encounters with extreme wealth and even greater poverty – both physical and emotional.” Along his journey, Garrard met amazing, present day peacemakers in Israel and Palestine and writes about their stories in his “Peacemakers—Living in the Contested Space” chapter of Words From The Hill. The stories include those of Robi Damelin, an Israeli living in Tel Aviv whose son was killed by a Palestinian sniper in 2002, Israeli Roni Keidar, who sees rockets made from lampposts fall on her farmland, indiscriminately killing workers who are like family to her, Palestinian Daoud Nassar, a farmer who refuses to be a victim, refuses to hate, refuses to be an enemy, Palestinian Sami Awad, a Christian and founder of Holy Land Trust, and Todd Deatherage of The Telos Group, which works to equip Americans to build a transformative pro-Israeli, pro-Palestinian, pro-peace movement. “We have to walk into the conflicted spaces and face those things and say, ‘no, I'm going to create a new future, and a new story.' That's what peacemaking does,” says Garrard in a video featured on his Facebook page. Can you meet me in the middle where the light don't shineWhere there are no sidesBetween you and ICan you meet me in the middle cos we got to findFind another way(Beatitudes rock anthem “In The Middle” sung by Garrard) In addition to peacemakers, The Beatitudes Project reveals a wide world of connected stories: real people from all faiths and walks of life who embody mercy, poverty, meekness, the hungry and thirsty, the mourners, and the pure in heart—as seen, heard and experienced through a 21st century lens. Video stories behind several of the songs featured on the Beatitudes album are highlighted on Garrard's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/stugworld, including the songs featuring Amy Grant (“Morning Light”), Michael W. Smith (“Carry On”), Martin Smith (“Holy Troublemakers”), Hillsong UNITED (“The View from Here”), Matt Maher with additional vocals by Audrey Assad (“Oh Mercy”), John Mark McMillan (“Heaven Is Around Us”) and Propaganda (“Make A Little Trouble”). In addition to the artists aforementioned, featured on the Beatitudes album are All Sons & Daughters, Amanda Cook, The Brilliance, Anthony Skinner, Terrian Bass and Becky Harding. Collectively, these artists have sold more than 62 million records, won 11 Grammy, 90 Dove Awards and amassed dozens of hit songs and millions of followers on social media. “The Beatitudes Project is meant to be a reset button in a world plagued with violence and division,” says Garrard. “These upside-down Jesus announcements on a hillside by the Sea of Galilee in Matthew 5 where Jews, Greeks, Romans and people of all ethnicities were gathered are a reminder that there is another way.” About Stugiology Music:Stugiology Music is a record label formed by Stu Garrard, who is perhaps best-known as the guitarist / songwriter for the RIAA Certified Gold-selling, GRAMMY-nominated and Dove Award-winning British band Delirious?. He is also a founding member of One Sonic Society (although no longer with the band) and recorded and released his first solo project in 2013, Of Burdens, Birds, and Stars. When not touring with Michael W. Smith or adding his sonic paint to Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Meredith Andrews, All Sons & Daughters, Amy Grant and many others' recordings, Garrard is writing, recording, speaking, leading worship and working with JHS on a custom line of guitar pedals.
