We've just wrapped up the story of Susan Brown—a woman serving life without the possibility of parole for the murder of her former partner, a crime she has always claimed was an act of self-defence.So, what does The Voice of Reason think? Would he have handled the case differently? Does he believe there were issues with how it was investigated and prosecuted?Let's find out, as Michael Leonard from Leonard Trial Lawyers in Chicago, Illinois weighs in on the case and Susan's claims of self-defence.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"The story of how I got here is deeply painful. Years ago I was married to a man who was mercilessly verbally and mentally abusive to me and my children. I wanted to press through the anguish to keep our family together, but then his behavior escalated. I had no choice but to leave to protect our child.A year later, I had moved on and was 30 weeks pregnant with another man's child. My estranged husband was enraged and, in a volatile verbal exchange, stabbed me in my stomach. He then raped me. I fought back to defend myself. In a blur, I ended up in the hospital, with my child devastatingly born prematurely. I then learned that, while it was never my intention, my ex-husband died."These are the words of Susan Brown a lady serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for what she says was self defense. This is her story, as told by here from prison in Michigan. If you or someone you know needs help in relation to domestic violence or abuse please follow the links below.https://www.domesticshelters.org/https://strongwomentalking.org.au/Join the One Minute Remaining Jury via Appl + HERE and get OMR early and ad free for as little as $1.69 a week!Become a Jury member on Patreon and find us on Facebook here. What she, the cops, and the rest of the town don't know is that she's just the first victim in a rampage that will change this Texas suburb forever. One by one, members of the Castleberry High School cheer squad are targeted, but things escalate when Rona Stratton's sister is found dead in her bedroom. Rona decides to team up with her friend Lisa Ticknor, who also survived an attack, along with the other cheerleaders in the squad, to start a decades-long fight to take down the Cheerleader Slayer, and make sure he would never hurt anyone else.Sources:Discovery + - Warner BrosCBS NewsThe portal to Texas HistoryChannel 5 Action News KXAS-TV The Digital Library Channel 5 Action NewsBritish Pathé

Except for skin cancers, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the U.S., but it can be successfully treated. To support screening and early detection, Susan G. Komen promotes breast self-awareness messages. These messages consist of knowing your risk, getting screened, knowing what is normal for you and making healthy lifestyle choices. More than 20 years ago, studies showed that monthly breast self-exams don't reduce breast cancer mortality. Joining us on today's show is Komen's Senior Director of Health Information and Publication, Susan Brown. Susan has lived through these changes in recommendations and is here today to explain them to us and to clear up any confusion on what we are supposed to be doing to best protect ourselves.

They share a heartfelt conversation about the profound effects a recall can have on the soul of our communities. Diving into the challenges that arise from divisive recall attempts, they reflect upon the scriptural teachings of unity and understanding. Together, Susan and Ed ponder whether these recall efforts might discourage the faithful leaders of tomorrow from stepping up to serve God and community, out of fear of being scorned for their beliefs. Join us, as we navigate the ever-winding path of leadership, faith, and community values.

Susan Brown grew up in a small town in Mississippi. She made her escape after leaving college with enough credits for 1.5 degrees but not enough in one area to graduate. She and a friend went to Florida, shared an apartment, worked, and explored independence. But when her friend left, Susan couldn't pay the rent on her own and made a bold decision after soul-searching for the right answer. Instead of moving back with her parents and risking getting stuck in her small town, she chose to live in her car. Learn how the pursuit to keep momentum towards her new identity kept her in a good headspace as she navigated uncertainty and living on the edge of society. Find out the breakthrough moment that changed her trajectory and made it possible for her to come out the other side better off than she imagined. Discover how being bullied as a child helped her let go of internalized oppression that tainted her self-esteem and propelled her into a chosen new identity that embraces her potential. Bio Susan is the Hope-Filled Efficiency Expert behind the LEGACY GAME CHANGERS movement. She is the author of the 5 star rated One Year Of Thankful Thursdays, the life changing Peace Of Mind Blueprint, Inspirational Speaker, and co-founder of Legacy Game Changers.
