In this episode, I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Tanisha Townsend, the founder of Girl Meets Glass, a wine lifestyle and education agency, and woman whose honesty, humor, and intelligence I admire deeply. I made fried chicken and mashed potatoes, she brought a beautiful bottle of Blanc de Blancs, and we got to talking! Tanisha brought her wit and no-nonsense attitude to the conversation in a way that left reflecting for days on some of the gems she dropped like, like: “Are you actually ready for what you really want?” and “If someone watched your habits for a week, would they reflect the life you say you want?” We also explore how living alone has given Tanisha the space to envision, build, and expand her business. It's not that she couldn't have achieved everything she has otherwise, but having the freedom and space (mentally and emotionally) to pour fully into herself and her vision made all the difference. I'm always moved and inspired by women who stand tall in their truth, show up fully, own their choices, and walk boldly toward the life they deserve.

Do you have a bucket list? What's on your bucket list? Is it a list of things you want to acheive before you turn 50? Or a list of places you want to visit? Mine was a list of places I wanted to visit and at the top of that list was wine country in South Africa. Well guess what ladies and gentlemen, that dream came true!! Goal achieved, I visited Stellenbosch, South Africa this year and tasted the most amazing wines and met some of the kindest people! Speaking of kind people, the hospitality in South Africa is top notch! My first guest of this season will speak to that specifically as she is international Sales Marketing Manager of Kanonkop Wine Estate. From literally the second I met her, I was drawn to Deidre Taylor. I heard her laugh, then she smiled and I said, Who is that? I need to meet her. So I did and she is fantastic. A marketing dynamo she's been called in fact. Can have a conversation with anyone and lives to tell you about South Africa wine & wine culture, specifically Kanonop. LICENSED TO TASTE is the learning segment of The Wine Hour. In this Episode, Tanisha Townsend makes us dream with her trips to South Africa and Italy, and talks about “La Rentrée” in the Wine Minute. SPECIAL GUEST BIO Stevie Kim Managing Director @ Vinitaly International Stevie Kim was born in Korea and raised in the United States. Today, she lives in Verona, Italy. At first she attended the NYU – Leonard N. Stern School of Business. After settling in Italy, she obtained an MBA at Bocconi University, School of Economics and Management. Later, she achieved a postgraduate specialization in Wealth Management at the University of Pennsylvania – The Wharton School. Stevie is currently working on her WSET Diploma, from the Weinakademie Österreich in Rust, Austria. As Managing Director of Vinitaly International, Stevie has launched and now coordinates a series of new initiatives connected to the Vinitaly brand. As Professional Wine Groupie, Stevie is always seeking innovative ways to communicate Italian wine – with a strong creative emphasis on social media and educational platforms. In 2017, Stevie produced the Italian Wine Podcast, the first podcast in English dedicated exclusively to Italian wine and its personalities. In June 2022 the show reached three million listens and officially hit the 1000 episode mark; the show now airs 7 days a week, 365 days a year and features some of the best known voices in the international wine community. Along with books, maps, and videos, the Italian Wine Podcast is part of the “Mamma Jumbo Shrimp” project, an umbrella brand conceived during the COVID lockdown of 2020. The brand represents an ethos, taking big concepts and making them accessible in smaller bites. It also strives to harness emerging social media platforms and bring together a global community of wine enthusiasts. Every week, the Mamma Jumbo Shrimp YouTube channel airs Stevie's “On The Road Edition” travels to wineries and regions across Italy. Being a bit curious, a bit sociologist, and a bit digital geek, Stevie regularly creates new opportunities to engage the wine community and help wineries – even during the COVID-19 pandemic. She's currently a Clubhouse addict: if you are a wine lover or a wine professional, you would want to keep an eye on the two clubs she created on this new platform, Italian Wine and Wine Business. At the Scharzhof, Egon IV favours a traditionally minimalist approach to winemaking. His work continues to be based on the quality-driven philosophy of the late Egon Müller III.: "One hundred per cent of the quality of a wine is generated in the vineyard. It is impossible to reach even 101 per cent in the cellars but it is a great achievement to pack the full potential of the vines into a bottle". A descendant of a legendary wine making family, Egon Müller produces Germany's most acclaimed Rieslings. The combination of the fantastic Scharzhofberger terroir, the greatest Grand Cru in Germany, and Egon's genius as a winemaker, result in wines of incredible minerality, fruit, acidity and perfect balance. All Egon Müller's wines have great ageing potential, yet are delicious when consumed young PROGRAM Uncorked [4:55]: Jaime Araujo, Akos Forzcek and Ray Isle talk about cork and its importance in the wine world, from the consumer side to the producer side. For this final episode of our summer mini season, we're finishing of with a wine region we love: Bordeaux. Jacques Lurton has created a line of wines to try and change that perception. Not new to the wine scene of Bordeaux by any means as he has Chateau la Louviere, Chateau Bonnet, and Chateau Couhins-Lurton under his purview just to name a few. His new line, Diane by Jacques Lurton aims to take some of the confusion and intimidation out of Bordeaux wines by creating this line of single varietal wines with the name of the grape on the bottle.
