Micheal's been working on his own personal healing journey for a minimum of fifteen years."I walked into therapy for the first time when I was seven years old because someone had molested me," reflects Michael. Michael's been working at changing his life trajectory. It's taken years of being committed to changing his past experiences to better his future.  Michael is now offering  help to others. (All information is below regarding his website, free weekly meet-ups, and his social media links, etc.)This is probably the best advice anyone could give someone with addiction and abuse issues. Michael is sincere when he says "you've got to just make a decision whether or not you're going to walk this path.  If you're tired of your life being a disaster, you're tired of all the things you're going through you're tired of feeling like a victim, and again I'm not taking anyone's victimhood away, I get it, but at some point you got to decide whether or not you're going to take control of your life. And that's the hardest thing that you're going to have to do in this life- is choose yourself.""Hurt people hurt people" Michael repeats. His mother, Donna, was not well and had suffered a life full of abuse, drugs and alcohol, so she was unable to "change the arc of her own life." She tried over and over again to get help. She was in and out of facilities. Said she was going to AA meeting just for Michael's sake and she just couldn't beat it.  According to Michael, "she chose drugs and alcohol over her children and she ultimately destroyed everything that she touched."Michael never had his biological father in his life. But what he did have were abusive step fathers which of course, did not help the situation. This story that Michael shares is very personal. He mentioned that he hasn't really had many of these kinds of open conversation, specifically about his mother, so I appreciate Michael trusting me with his story. It's not an easy journey. "Michael  often has to explain  that "I don't think people know how hard this work is, to change the arc of your life." There are lots of scars, but there is hope. And it is possible to design your own destiny. Michael UnbrokenListen to the Think Unbroken Podcastwww.ThinkUnbrokenPodcast.com  Read Think Unbroken. #1 On Amazonwww.ThinkUnbroken.com/paperback@MichaelUnbroken@ThinkUnbrokenFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/MichaelAnthonyUnbroken "Should Have Listened To My Mother" is an ongoing conversation about mothers/female role models and the roles they play in our lives. CW/TW: this episode includes discussion of violence, both physical and gun-related, as well as in-depth conversations about abuse, trauma, suicide, drugs, and alcohol addiction. It also includes mention of adoption and body weight, and contains some strong language.OverviewMichael was born to a hyper-abusive, drug-addicted mother who cut his finger off at four years old…lived with what he calls “a step-father you pray you never have,” and was frequently houseless and living in poverty. A member of the Mormon Church, he was also molested by a fellow parishioner. At the age of 13, he ended up in the custody of a racist grandmother who pushed him into an identity crisis — and quickly turned to drugs and alcohol to survive continuing abuse. “Between the guns, drugs, crime, and poverty…I was facing life as just another statistic,” he shares. Despite being diagnosed with multiple learning disabilities and not graduating high school on time, he found success in corporate America in his early 20s. But the success only made things worse: Michael found himself “morbidly obese,” high and drunk daily, experiencing debilitating panic attacks, rage, and even attempting suicide. And then, he had his Mirror Moment: he found his inner power and chose to do whatever it took to work through his childhood trauma. He says that this is when his life really began. Michael is now the author of the best-selling book Think Unbroken and is a coach, mentor, and educator for adult survivors of child abuse. He spends his time helping other survivors get out of "The Vortex" to become the hero of their own story and take their lives back. Michael Unbroken was born to a hyper-abusive drug addict mother who cut his finger off at four years old, a stepfather you pray you never have, and a racist grandmother that pushed him into an identity crisis. By the time he was nine, his family was in poverty and often homeless, all while being a member of the Mormon Church. At twelve, he was adopted by his grandmother and quickly turned to drugs and alcohol to survive the continuing abuse. Despite multiple learning disabilities and not graduating high school on time, Michael found success in Corporate America in his early twenties. However, success only made things worse. Michael found himself morbidly obese, high and drunk daily, and ultimately self-sabotaging everything around him. It was not until finding his inner power through his Mirror Moment and choosing to do whatever it took to work through childhood trauma that his life began.Michael Anthony is the author of the best-selling book Think Unbroken and is a coach, mentor, and educator for adult survivors of child abuse. Michael Anthony is the author of the best-selling book Think Unbroken, as well as a coach, mentor, and educator for adult survivors of child abuse. On a mission to create change in the world, Anthony teaches at Think Unbroken Academy and hosts the “Michael Unbroken” podcast. He spends his time helping other survivors get out of “The Vortex” to become the hero of their own story and take back their lives. With his mother cutting off his finger at the age of four, Michael Anthony has experienced tremendous amounts of trauma. As a child, Anthony grew up in an abusive household which led to drug and alcohol use by 12 years old, homelessness, and an overall lack of stability. Throughout his teen years, Anthony ran with gangs, used drugs, stole cars, and broke into houses all in order to survive. “I was leveraging and using my trauma as an excuse to not show up for myself,” Anthony reveals. By the time he was 20, he was morbidly obese and a workaholic. Anthony reflected on his life and realized that “no matter what, no matter where you are from or how bad your trauma was… there is always potential for what's next.” It was this pivotal moment that caused him to turn himself around and change the life he was living. “Acknowledge that bad things have happened to you and accept it, not in that you deserved it but in that it was a reality, and move forward,” Anthony tells the audience.“Though trauma may be our foundation, it is not our future.” ...You can learn more about Michael here: @michaelunbroken — across all platforms and https://www.linktr.ee/michaelunbrokenThanks for listening! If you suffered some kind of Childhood abuse or trauma, you want to listen to this episode. If you carry around  some shame and/or guilt, you want to listen to this episode. If you don't feel like showing up in your own life, you definitively want to listen to this episode. If you have some fears you are not confronting , you also want to listen to this episode.Today my guest, Michael Anthony, is a testimony of what one can do, and become,  starting in this “game” of life,  in a very very disadvantageous and hard position.  He is a childhood trauma survivor, and went from trauma survivor, to trauma warrior to trauma mentor,   who worked on healing himself, so that he can now focus on a very ambitions goal: to End Generational Trauma in his Lifetime. He guides adult survivors of child abuse in getting out of the vortex and reclaiming their power.  And honestly, he can help empower anyone, and he does this, through his best-selling book Think Unbroken, his coaching, mentoring, his podcast Think Unbroken Podcast, and teaching through his company  Think Unbroken Academy. With him we talk about :His life journeyThe question that changed his life foreverWhat is the biggest consequence  caused by childhood traumaOne tool he uses to trick himself to show up every day,  and you don't want to miss thisWhat questions he asks himself, to remind himself to show up and live his lifeWhat is the ultimate way to get to the things that you want in your lifeWhat is the catalyst to continue to do the work every dayWe talked about fear: Why does someone not face their  fears ? What can help to face them?We talk about shame and guilt:  Why do we carry around shame and guilt? Listen to this part,  although you may hear things that you may not like to hearHe shares a powerful analogy of trauma, that can help you understand how to start healing it.We talk about the things and the processes needed to get to a goalWe dive deep into vulnerability: what it is and what it isn'tAnd if you worry about what others think of you, you have to listen to MichaelHe ends the podcast sharing with us the truth he wants to see in the worldNowadays we  hear many stories from speakers, coaches, entrepreneurs, authors, human beings who underwent and overcame huge traumas or challenging events in their life. And my hope is that, as a society, we don't get accustomed or num ourselves to these stories. Some... don't make it, so we will never hear their stories. So my wish is that you take something from Michael's story and all his sharings. To contact Michael Anthony:      Web: ThinkUnbroken.com      Instagram: @ michaelunbroken      LinkedIn: @ traumasurvivormentorandcoach      Facebook: @ MichaelUnbrokenTo support the podcast:      Patreon: Patreon.com/ChangeMakerTo contact Cristina Pujol:      LinkedIn: @cpujoljensen      Email: info@tuytumente.com      Web: TuyTuMente.com      Instagram: @CristinaPujol7      Instagram  of "Tú y Tu Mente": @tu_ytumente      Facebook: @tuytumenteMusic: Gonzalo Grau - Frutero ModernoEl Frutero Moderno en Spotify

For some of us, our childhoods were filled with trauma. There are plenty of challenges to overcome in the world and that is before we even get into the adult years. Mindset plays a major role in overcoming these challenges and healing from them. Mindsets can be changed and shaped by your experiences but if you want to change then you have to recognize what they are first! It's up to you to make a change for your life to shift. In this podcast, our guest Michael Anthony will discuss how mindset has been such an important part of his journey through life as well as offer some tips on how you can tap into your power using mindset. Michael overcame a challenging and traumatic upbringing to succeed in Corporate America at the age of 22. But his success only worsened things for him; he found himself morbidly obese, high, and drunk daily with self-sabotaging behaviors around every corner until one day when Michael found his inner power through his Mirror Moment and chose to do whatever it took to work through childhood trauma that gave him back control over his life. Now, Michael is the author of the best-selling book 'Think Unbroken' and is a coach, mentor, and educator for adult survivors of child abuse. Michael spends his time helping other survivors get out of "The Vortex" to become the hero of their own story and take their lives back. He now hosts 'The Michael Unbroken podcast', teaches at 'Think Unbroken Academy', and is on a mission to end generational trauma by giving survivors the tools to be the hero of their story. What you'll learn  The things that you can do to create a mindset shift Leveraging your experiences to tap into your power All about 'The Vortex' and what does it mean to get out of it. Episode 193: Think Unbroken - Interview with Michael Anthony Michael Anthony was born to a hyper-abusive drug addict mother who cut his finger off when he was 4-years-old, a step father you pray you never have, and a  racist grandmother who pushed him into an identity crisis. By the time he was 9 his family was often homeless, certainly living in poverty, and he was eventually adopted by his grandmother. He turned to drugs and alcohol to survive the continued abuse. There is a lot more to Michael’s story… he is now the author of the best-selling book Think Unbroken.… despite learning disabilities and not graduation high school on time, Michael found success in corporate America in his early twenties. But, he says, success only made things worse. He found himself morbidly obese, high and drunk daily and ultimately self-sabataging everything around him. It wasn’t until he decided to do whatever it took to heal from his childhood trauma that his life really began. TUNE INTO THE AUDIO PROGRAM TO HEAR MY INTERVIEW WITH MICHAEL and such topics as: 1. I want to start out with your story - because that’s what we do here - we tell stories. Take us back to your childhood. What are some of your main memories? 2. You said you had a mirror moment where you chose to do what it took to heal. Tell us about that moment. 3. How do you think healing begins? 4. How do we think unBroken? 5. What is the one thing we can do right now to create a mindset shift? 6. You work as a coach, mentor and educator for adult survivors of child abuse. You say you  help survivors get out of the vortex. What does that mean? 7. Tell us about the Unbroken podcast and Think Unbroken Academy. Final tips for rebuilding yourself after abuse. Childhood abuse and trauma is a topic we have hit on in only a few episodes. I remember the one where his father tried to kill him because he thought he was a prophet, like Abraham, who had to kill his son…but I’m grateful for Michael’s story, and his work. Think Unbroken was created out of necessity - as so many things are. But the beauty of those creations is that it provides resources for people who need them. What was he willing to do to become the hero of his story? What are you willing to do to be the hero/heroine you want to be in your story? The journey to healing is long and difficult for even the toughest of warriors. Childhood trauma and abuse take so much energy to overcome, and one of the best tools in your arsenal is a support system that you can leverage when the going gets tough. Contact information for Michael and Think Unbroken, is in the show notes on www.loveyourstorypodcast.com If you are in a space where healing is needed, that’s not a place of shame, that’s a place of growth. Create the life story that you want, on purpose. You can do it. Thanks for being here today. If you like the show, please leave us a review and share us with your friends. We’ll see you in two weeks for the next episode.

Boundaries for CPTSD and Trauma survivors are often looked at as parameters that we place around others for our safety and protection. Those boundaries are very important but they are not the only boundaries we should have in place. Why? Because for us to be successful in our healing journey we must give ourselves permission to heal by acknowledging that we are capable and then by forcing ourselves into executing the promises that we make to ourselves. We are often faced with reflecting on the idea of "if we have done enough." The truth is that while we may be heading in the right direction, we may also be missing out on some key pillars to make change permanent. In this episode, I talk about the practical steps that it takes to create change in your life. To know how we got to where we are, we must first understand our past. Next, we must decide what kind of future we want. Starting the process of healing trauma also involves writing goals. Then we have to reverse-engineer the life that we wish to have by identifying the first step to the path we want to take. Finally, we must invoke personal boundaries. It is very easy for trauma survivors to not understand that healing is possible because we have never put a game plan in place of had a trauma and CPTSD life coach to help guide us to success. Ultimately, if we want to overcome our past and heal our inner child then we must take action in holding ourselves responsible for following through. Dating with trauma is such a hard road to walk. We often find ourselves seeking worth and validation, along with trust and love from our partners without first giving those requirements to ourselves. Dating with CPTSD requires a real intrinsic look at who you are and who you want to be and how you want to be in a relationship. If you didn't know, I am hosting Mondays with Michael, a complimentary small group coaching session each Monday night. In these sessions, we discuss a range of topics from the science of trauma, healing, and mindset to working through everyday problems like worth in relationships, dealing with unsupporting family members, and identifying and re-framing behavior patterns. In this episode of the Michael Unbroken Podcast, I pulled one of the conversations from MWM because I believe that as trauma survivors, we all want the same things: love, self-worth, value, and hope. In this conversation, we talk about all of that and more. You can listen to this episode by clicking the link below. Until next time my friend...Be Unbroken. -Michael p.s. Think Unbroken with Michael Unbroken | CPTSD, TRAUMA and Mental Health Healing Podcast

I recently said that childhood trauma, CPTSD, and abuse is both the cause and the solution to many of our problems in life. As a trauma coach, my job is to help you do what I have to do, and that is to figure out the underlying reason behind what is happening in your life. Of course, you may be wondering how a childhood filled with adverse experiences can be beneficial in the world. I don't look at this as something that makes your life better when I say solution I mean that understanding our past gives us the leverage and ability to change our present and future. The choices that we make in life are often a reflection of your past. Most trauma survivors don't recognize that it is our past experiences in mental, emotional, and physical abuse that lead us to where we are today. We are faced with living out the path that others laid in place of us, or worse; we don't understand that we can create change in our lives. We often leverage our past experiences to cop out of accountability and personal responsibility because let's face it; it is much easier to play the victim than it is to be the hero. I know that from personal experience. In this video, I talk about the power of understanding how your past experiences can be causing CPTSD, dissociation, unknown illnesses, and lack of personal power, and why educating yourself about the impact of your past is how you move through it. Have you ever wondered why certain words impact you in either positive or negative way? Have you found yourself allowed words to impact and change the direction of your day or even the course of your life. Words are a powerful tool in the journey of the adults survivor of childhood trauma. The words we use and that are used towards us are a reflection of ourselves. If we are the story that we tell ourselves then wouldn't it be true that the words in our story are just as important as the story itself? In this episode of The Michael Unbroken Podcast I explore the most powerful word in my life and how you can change the way that words impact you. I also created a workbook about the Power of Words to share with you that is a companion to this podcast. I created this workbook from a selection of the Think Unbroken Academy. You can download that workbook for free here: www.thinkunbroken.com/words This podcast will cover: Creating power statements around words, why the word broken should be stripped of our vocabulary, and a reminder to join the first online training for the Think Unbroken Academy.
