Cleveland sits on the opposite side of Lake Erie from Canada. While this proximity is not worrisome to us today, there was a time when Cleveland was worried that Canadians might invade their city. They needed a military group for protection and so they formed one. This group eventually was known as the Cleveland Grays and they built an armory that is today a museum. A haunted one apparently. Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of Cleveland Grays Armory! The White Hart Stag was once the personal badge of the king, and businesses and people would display it to show their allegiance. Today, there are still dozens of inns in the United Kingdom that bear the name White Hart. Each of them is unique, but all are very historic having stood for over hundreds of years. Many of them are reputedly haunted. Join us as we venture around the United Kingdom and explore the history and hauntings of the White Hart Hotels. A man was on a simple afternoon stroll on December 9, 1909 in his Savannah, Georgia neighborhood when he heard moaning coming from 401 W. Perry Street. What he found inside the small wooden house would horrify the city. One woman lay dying and two more were already dead. An axe had been used and the murders were brutal. As to who committed the crime, that remains a mystery, although the husband of one of the women was convicted and served some time in prison before being pardoned. Perhaps that is why the location where the murders happened has stories of hauntings. Fort Lauderdale means fun in the sun at a beach for most people. But this oceanside town has another side. There are many haunted locations here and for good reason. The Seminoles fought with settlers, the titans of industry made this their playground and this is the Venice of America with 165 miles of scenic inland waterways. Water is a key conduit for paranormal activity. In October, we met up with our listeners Amanda and Charlotte and had some dinner and then headed off for a ghost tour. Love triangles are never a good thing. Someone always gets hurt. And sometimes, someone gets dead. In the case of this story, that someone was a man named Stanley Goodside. He became friends with two former flower children and when things got complicated, Goodside was murdered. There is a pretty standard description of the Grim Reaper. Generally speaking, people envision a cloaked skeleton carrying a scythe. Omni Hotels & Resorts own a long list of haunted hotels and they embrace that reputation. One of their hotels is the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. This is a beautiful location surrounded by the White Mountain National Forest, so it is no wonder that the rich would make this one of their playgrounds. Some of the grandest hotels ever built in America's history, were built here. Perhaps it is that link to the Gilded Age that has locked in spectres to this establishment. We often wonder why spirits stay behind in haunted locations. Many times the answer is that some sort of trauma was experienced. And digging even deeper, we sometimes find that a spirit is at unrest because their case hasn't been solved or even perhaps that their body hasn't been discovered. I've been collecting ghost stories from around the world for years. I found this one out of India that happened not too many years ago. This is the story about a murdered couple who wouldn't rest until their bodies were found. Inspiring Women in Project Management Most days, you can find me working with a group of people, helping them learn how to improve their ability to lead and deliver. If you've listened to this podcast for a while, you may recall hearing me saying this previously--in our project management courses, the majority of participants are women. It's characteristic of a trend we see week in and week out—project management is a rewarding and accessible career path for women to pursue. Because of that, I like to highlight women who are inspiring role models, particularly when it comes to leading teams and delivering projects. And in this episode, I'm excited to introduce you to my friend and colleague Molly Beran, who fits that description perfectly. Molly has not only spent extended time in the trenches, learning how to lead and deliver. Over the last couple of years, she's also been a valued member of my speaking team. And she has expertly taught some of our biggest clients how to improve their ability to lead and deliver. This episode is a conversation between friends who equally geek out about project management and leadership. I look forward to you hearing some of the lessons that Molly has learned about these topics--I know you're going to enjoy this. Learn more about Molly at ProjectsByMolly.com. Also, get your copy of (or give it as a gift) From Vision to Vows: Project Management Strategies for Weddings here. No Freaking Idea! Do you know someone who is in college or maybe recently graduated? My experience is there are a growing number of people who dread being asked the question, “So, what's the plan?” When it comes to their career, they have no freaking idea! I bring this up because we're rolling out a new course entitled just that: No Freaking Idea: How to Navigate Career Uncertaity. It's a career guide for people who don't know what they want to do, and it has been so fun to hear the feedback on the course. Whether it's you who is wondering about next steps in your career or a son or daughter and you'd like to give them this as a gift, learn more by going to NoFreakingIdea.courses. Thanks! Not too far from Malabar Farm State Park in Ohio sits Pleasant Valley Cemetery. One marble grave marker stands a bit higher than the rest of the headstones around it and across the top is embossed the family name Rose. This marks the final resting place of three members of the Rose family who all died within a thirty day time frame. The cause of death was not some hideous plague that swept through town. The family was murdered. That revelation is horrific enough, but what makes this story truly chilling is that they were murdered by one of their own. The Florida Everglades is a network of impenetrable swamps, snaking waterways and thick cypress forests. This would be a great place to make a body disappear and there is a dark history here of disappearances, death and hauntings. Conservative numbers claim that there have been 175 unsolved murders here since 1965. People claim that the Everglades is haunted and there are stories going back to the times of the earliest settlers here, the Calusa tribe, that speak of a dark energy and power. Vast areas of the oceans have never been explored, but there are also places on the earth that have been left untouched. Particularly the mountains. Some are so high, men can only dream of scaling them. Others are so thick with vegetation, it is impossible to penetrate deeply. Fathomless mysteries are hidden within them. Several of these mountains have legends connected to them, making them mystical. The irony of many of these mystical peaks is that although they rise high above the horizon, their roots go deep, many ushering an entrance to the underworld. There are two things that bring people to St Bathans in New Zealand: gold and fossils. The St Bathans fauna bears dozens of different kinds of fossils. The small town itself was once a center of the Otago Gold Rush and one of the leftover locations from that time is the Vulcan Hotel. A painted lady might have lost her life at the hotel and today, people claim her spirit haunts one of the rooms there. Join us for the history and hauntings of the Vulcan Hotel. The Moment in Oddity was suggested by Karen Miller and features Le Passage du Gois and This Month in History features the sinking of SS Andrea Doria. Harling Woods is also known as Thorpe Forest. It's a beautiful wooded area between East and West Harling in Norfolk. There are plenty of woodland walks to enjoy- pathways for running and dog walking. Beautiful cabins you can stay in by the river. The area is over 993 Hectares. But being beautiful isn't all the wood is known for. Unfortunately there have been murders, rapes, suicides and even UFO sightings. The following music was used for this media project:Music: Dark Haunts by Tim KuligFree download: https://filmmusic.io/song/11159-dark-hauntsLicense (CC BY 4.0): https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5894684/advertisement
In May 1983, the disappearance of a 17-year-old girl prompted the community of Lindenhurst, NY to unite in their efforts to locate her. Fortunately, after a week had passed, she was found safe and reunited with her family. However, the following year, in May 1984, another young girl, aged 14, vanished from the same town. Tragically, this time the response from the community took a different turn. Instead of rallying together to aid in the search, the town appeared to impede the investigation. Fast forward almost four decades, and the case remains shrouded in secrecy, leaving unanswered questions lingering in the air.The following music was used for this media project:Music: Creepy Echo Piano 2 by Tim KuligFree download: https://filmmusic.io/song/11122-creepy-echo-piano-2License (CC BY 4.0): https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5894684/advertisement

New South Wales in Australia seems to be the most haunted state in the country and for good reason. This was the first place colonized in Australia. Not only is there a long history here that features a country built by convicts, but there is the displacement of the indigenous people who had been here for thousands of years. We've covered some of the more well known haunted locations in New South Wales on previous episodes, so on this one we are going to explore the lesser known haunts. Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of New South Wales! The Moment in Oddity features Beatle wigs and This Month in History features the transcontinental railroad. One of the reasons cited for a soul to be at unrest is a lack of justice. And sometimes that justice hasn't come because a body hasn't been discovered. Some of the most interesting ghost stories feature a spirit of a murder victim that leads people to the spot of their hidden burial. Two of these stories date back to the late 1800s. One story features the typical haunted house and the other features a ghost wagon.
