Student Doctor Tatiana Balabanis joins Stranger Fruit Vol V, Episode VI to explore the concept of Resilience—a crucial element of the Growth Harvest series. Resilience is more than just surviving adversity; it's about transformation and finding meaning in the struggle. How do we rise after falling? How do we adapt when life doesn't go as planned? And how can we see our challenges as part of our journey rather than just obstacles to overcome? In this episode, we reflect on how resilience shapes our identity and how embracing our scars makes us stronger. From philosophical insights to personal stories, this conversation uncovers the essence of bouncing back with purpose and strength.

Notice: We are sad to announce that this is our final episode. Unfortunately, life keeps throwing things at us and we can't find the time or space to continue creating the show at the quality we wish to. We hope that one day we can start back up and tell more wonderful, wacky tales, but we can't be sure if/when that will be. In this episode, Kiri discusses the character development of Padmé, Leia, and Rey throughout the Star Wars saga. She reflects on Padmé's strength and leadership in Episode I, her softer side and romantic relationship in Episode II, and her disappointment with her reduced role in Episode III. She admires Leia's independence and leadership qualities throughout the original trilogy, and appreciate Rey's unique and constantly different journey in the sequel trilogy.04:11 - Padmé's strong leadership as the queen of Naboo and her composure and strength admired by the speaker during their adolescence.06:16 - Padmé's transition from a strong political figure to a softer side as a friend and lover to Anakin, reflecting Lucas' tendency to portray women as getting softer throughout the trilogies.07:31 - Kiri expresses frustration with Padmé's perceived lack of strength and untethered nature in Episode III, contrasting it with her hidden strength and decision-making in the deleted scenes.16:51 - Kiri discusses Leia's character development from being strong and resilient to showing vulnerability and developing a romantic relationship with Han.19:01 - Kiri talks about Leia's character development in Episode VI, where she builds friendly camaraderie with Han and Luke, showing a softer side.23:55 - Discussing Rey's character development in Episode VIII, where she questions her purpose, her connection to Kylo Ren, and her path as a Jedi.24:37 - Rey's journey from feeling untethered and scared to becoming confident in her identity as a Jedi.25:41 - Discussion on the idea of accepting both the dark and light sides within oneself, and how it was portrayed in Episode IX.27:36 - Reflecting on the relatability of Padmé in Episode III, Leia in Episode V, and Rey in Episode VII, and how they may reflect the culture of their respective time periods.Suggested reading:https://www.overthinkingit.com/2008/08/18/why-strong-female-characters-are-bad-for-women/Love in Star Wars: The PrequelsRuminations on PadmeBut really, is Star Wars Sexist? How Rey Skywalker Became the Most Powerful Sith of All-Time and Why It Matters by Michael Miller***Have Spotify? Return of the Jedi has been "a thing" for forty years now. FORTY. YEARS. This is the Way Podcast endorses Episode VI as the height of original Star Wars. Yes, higher than Empire Strikes Back. Certainly not possible without the first movie and fourth episode, but it is unlikely that any movie will supplant "the one with the Sarlaac Pit, Ewoks, Yoda disappearing and Obi Wan on a log and the best finish ever with old Anakin force ghost and Yub nub on the forest moon. Deal with it. As usual there is Disney Plus series updates, news for collectors, video gamers, and park news (Galactic Starcruiser hitting an asteroid?). THIS IS THE MAY! Questions or comments? Episode VI of “The Skywalker Saga” is not on the level of the first two films in the original trilogy but it's still a lot of fun, even if it shows the signs of what would become problems for the franchise. We talk about all the changes George Lucas made to Jedi over several revised “Special Editions” (to their detriment), how the successes of this film illustrate the failures of the other trilogies, and we discuss the sleazy Steely Dan vibes we got from revisiting Jabba's Palace and the “Jizz-wailing” sounds of the Max Rebo Band. Plus: the hypocrisy of Crime Minister Trudeau's stated passion for Return of the Jedi. You might be able to find the Despecialized version of Return of the Jedi at the Internet Archive. Science fiction (n.): fiction dealing principally with the impact of actual or imagined science on society or individuals or having a scientific factor as an essential orienting component. Now, add disco. This is Retrostar. Retrostar is a story-driven roleplaying game that faithfully and meticulously emulates the science fiction television shows of the 1970s. The game is powered by the Intention System, which places a sizeable portion of the narrative control in the players' hands, while still maintaining the traditional roleplaying game structure. ----------------------------------- This game is part of the ongoing Star Wars Saturdays series. The time setting is after the end of Episode VI of the Star Wars movie series (that's Return of the Jedi) when the Empire is falling and the Alliance to Restore the Republic is taking control in fits and starts.

Mit Star Wars - Episode VI besprechen wir den letzten der klassischen Star Wars Filme.
This week, we move forward with Star Wars but also back in time?! We've done Episode VI, so logically Episode III should be next, right?. If you're confused, then congratulations... you're in the prequel trilogy, and we're watching 2005's Revenge of the Sith! Thrill as Palpatine transitions from normal-face Chancellor to monster-face Emperor, while Sam and Will break down Star Wars' "quiet years" before the prequels, and beat a very-dead horse by proclaiming this movie a decent threequel but also a lava-scorched hot mess. The opioid epidemic refers to the enormous surge in opioid addiction and overdose over the last several decades in the United States. Much of the epidemic has its origins in medical practice. Devastating consequences of the opioid epidemic include increases in opioid misuse and related overdoses, as well as the rising incidence of newborns experiencing withdrawal syndrome due to opioid use and misuse during pregnancy. Opioid overdoses accounted for more than 42,000 deaths in 2016, more than any previous year on record. An estimated 40% of opioid overdose deaths involved a prescription opioid.Episode VI will explore the less than obvious connections between mental illness and substance abuse. We would like to assert that one, often overlooked foundational connection is, the unhealthy need that leads to the opioid use, which completely destabilizes a Healthy Mental decision-making process.
