Vivek's journey is a masterclass in career agility, global leadership, and the "How" of hiring. Key Topics Covered: 1. Career Growth: How he flipped his focus from being a Company Secretary to a General Counsel at India's leading companies 2. Five years ago, Marketing Happy Hour was launched from scratch — Canva logo, Google searches, and zero podcasting experience. In this milestone episode, Cassie walks through the full arc of her career: from a self-pitched internship at a Florida restaurant group to a pivotal move to New York City, from leaving a stable agency job to start her own business in 2019, to building MHH into the community it is today. Cassie gets refreshingly honest about the comparison trap of entrepreneurship, why she stopped chasing the "big brand on the resume" and started following what she actually loves, and the one piece of advice she'd give her younger self. Key Takeaways:// Cold pitching with concrete ideas beats cold pitching with just your resume. When Cassie landed her first internship — at a restaurant group with no open listing — she didn't just ask "can I help?" She came with specific ideas and made it easy for the hiring manager to say yes. The lesson: don't make the person on the other end do the work of figuring out how you fit.// The biggest career accelerator is often the move you're scared to make. For Cassie, that was packing up and moving from Tampa to New York City. It pulled her out of a hospitality bubble and into big brand, agency-level experience that changed everything. You don't have to move across the country — but being open to expanding the type of roles and environments you're in is what unlocks the next level.// Build a career on what you keep saying yes to. Cassie still doesn't have a singular "dream job" figured out — and she's at peace with that. What she does know is the types of projects that light her up: podcasting, production, storytelling, events. Following that thread, rather than a fixed five-year plan, has shaped her career more than any roadmap would have.// The comparison trap is real — but it can be reframed. Everyone's timing is different. Everyone's journey has challenges you can't see from the outside. Instead of comparing, Cassie recommends using other people's careers as a research tool: study how they got there, reach out, ask questions, and let it inform your own path rather than measure against it.// Give yourself grace. The advice Cassie would give younger Cassie — and the one she still needs to hear. You won't be perfect every day. Not everything has to make sense right now. Be patient with the journey, surround yourself with the right people, and trust that the pieces are connecting — even when you can't see how yet.Connect with Cassie: LinkedIn____Join the MHH Collective! Most productivity advice skips right past the most obvious lever: sleep. In this episode, JR speaks with Nathalie Walton who leads growth at Better Sleep, the app that's become the go-to sleep tool for 65 million people around the world. Nathalie's path here wasn't linear. It started with her own experience during pregnancy where she came to realize that there was a frustrating gap in support for women's health. That led her to found Expectful, a platform for fertility, pregnancy, and early motherhood, and eventually to Better Sleep, where she's helping scale something that genuinely changes how people feel day to day. JR and Nathalie get into:Why sleep isn't something you can bank or borrow againstHow Better Sleep built real trust with its users in an era when most health apps cut cornersWhy expanding access to care (especially for women and underserved communities) is one of the most important problems anyone in healthcare can be working on right now If you're interested in health, startups or optimizing your performance at work and in life, you don't want to skip this episode. This episode is sponsored by Deel.Hire, manage and pay – anyone, anywhere: https://www.deel.com/nickdayhr/ In this episode of @thehrldpodcast Nick Day is joined by Britain Stelly, founder of Creature Courage and one of the UK's leading experts in phobia therapy and fear transformation, featured on Good Morning Britain, Sky News, BBC Radio 2, and ITV. With over a decade of experience helping thousands of people break free from deep-rooted fears, Britain is now bringing that proven science directly into the workplace.Britain brings a rare combination of exotic animal husbandry, clinical anxiety coaching, and over a decade of live exposure therapy into the world of leadership and organisational development. Together, Nick and Britain explore why fear is the most underrated and underdiagnosed cost inside organisations today, and why the gap between a good team and a high-performing one almost always comes down to the fears nobody is talking about. This conversation unpacks what it truly means to overcome fear from the inside out. Nick and Britain discuss why avoidance never makes fear smaller, only louder, how the caveman brain is quietly sabotaging your team's decisions and conversations every single day, and why exposure therapy creates lasting transformation that no lecture, workshop, or wellbeing initiative ever could. They explore why psychological safety cannot be built on comfort alone, why the most effective leaders are the ones willing to face fear openly, and how a single shared experience of courage can transform the culture of an entire team. They also explore the neuroscience behind why you cannot think your way out of fear, why the amygdala and prefrontal cortex must be shown rather than told, and how Britain's Reject, Reframe, Replace technique gives individuals a practical tool to interrupt anxiety at the thought level. The discussion highlights why imposter syndrome is just fear wearing a professional disguise, why failure is a primitive survival instinct that modern leaders must learn to override, and how vulnerability in leadership is not a weakness but the most respected quality a leader can possess. In a world where anxiety is at an all-time high and teams are growing more disengaged, this episode examines why fear transformation may be the most important investment HR and L&D leaders can make in 2026, and how organizations that build cultures of courage will outperform those that simply manage comfort.A must-listen for HR leaders, L&D professionals, and anyone ready to stop letting fear make their decisions for them and start building the kind of courage that moves teams, careers, and organizations forward.Enjoyed this? In this episode of Career Sessions, J.R. Lowry sits down with author, speaker, and culture expert Greg Hawks to tackle one of the biggest challenges facing organizations today: Why are so many people disengaged at work—and what actually changes that? Greg introduces the concept of the “ownership mindset,” a powerful shift in how individuals approach their work and how leaders build environments where people feel invested, accountable, and motivated. Drawing on decades of experience working with organizations, Greg explains why most employees start with energy and intention—but often lose it over time—and what both individuals and leaders can do to bring it back. They discuss:What it really means to “act like an owner” (and why it has nothing to do with your title)The difference between owners, renters, and vandals in the workplaceWhy engagement breaks down—and how culture often unintentionally discourages initiativeThe five “unlocks” that help individuals and teams build ownership and accountabilityHow leaders can re-engage employees who've stopped investing their energyWhy values only matter when they are consistently lived—not just statedHow to think about ownership not just in your role, but across your entire career Greg also shares practical tools—from identifying where you're placing blame to making small, consistent changes that compound over time—to help you take greater ownership of your work and your future. If you've ever felt stuck, disengaged, or frustrated by your work environment, this conversation offers a clear and actionable framework for reclaiming control, finding meaning, and building a more fulfilling career. As Aneesh Raman puts it, “work is changing, not ending,” and success today depends on how well you can navigate change and explain your path along the way.Raman is the Chief Economic Opportunity Officer at LinkedIn and a former presidential speechwriter for Barack Obama. His work focuses on the future of work and how individuals can adapt in an AI-driven world. In his book Open to Work, he argues that the most valuable skills today aren't technical — they're human. “We now have this technology that's gonna do more, better, faster… It will out efficiency us,” he explains. But that shift creates opportunity: “When you recognize that humans aren't meant to be machine-like, and that machines will eventually out machine us, that isn't the end state. It's going to be a more entrepreneurial era where we're going to rely on our unique ability to imagine, to invent, to create.”In this episode of Think Fast Talk Smart, Raman and host Matt Abrahams explore what it takes to navigate a rapidly changing workplace. If you're a product manager, founder, executive, or even an individual contributor navigating OKRs, AI, and innovation pressure, this episode of Career Sessions, Career Lessons offers a practical reframing of how great products and meaningful work actually get built.Host JR Lowry sits down with Radhika Dutt, author of Radical Product Thinking, to unpack why traditional goals, OKRs, and performance targets often do more harm than good in modern product organizations.Drawing from her experience as an MIT-trained engineer, startup founder, and product leader across industries, Radhika introduces an alternative: puzzle setting and puzzle solving. Rather than optimizing for short-term metrics, she says that the most successful teams spend more time in the problem space asking better questions, learning faster, and adapting intelligently.Together, JR and Radhika explore:Why OKRs and targets could kill curiosity and innovationThe difference between optimizing numbers and solving the right problemHow “puzzle-driven” teams outperform “goal-driven” teamsThe dangers of AI-driven “product slop” and what humans must do better than machinesLeadership lessons on delegation, critical thinking, and psychological safetyAI's impact on recruiting and cultureCheck out the full series of “Career Sessions, Career Lessons” podcasts here or visit pathwise.io/podcast/. Summary In this In the Trenches episode, Andy talks with Norman Patnode, Principal at ProChain Solutions, about what it really takes to deliver projects faster and more predictably. With a background in aerospace engineering, the Air Force, and decades of consulting, Norman brings a systems-level perspective to project delivery that goes far beyond managing task lists. They explore the difference between task management and project management, why critical chain thinking shifts the conversation from dates to priorities, and how changing a few key rules can dramatically improve delivery performance. Norman shares why "prioritize, focus, and finish" is more than a slogan, how multitasking quietly robs teams of productivity, and what leaders can do to create clarity and alignment. You'll also hear insights about managing constraints, learning how to learn, and why curiosity is one of the most valuable leadership traits. If you're looking for practical, systems-based ways to improve delivery and reduce chaos on your projects, this episode is for you! Sound Bites "Critical chain is a system to help you get projects done faster and more predictably." "Critical chain is really about how do we help people prioritize, focus, and finish." "I would never go back to what I was doing before. It has ruined me. I just wouldn't live in that world again." "Multitasking robs project teams of anywhere from 15 to 65% of their productivity." "If there are no priorities, then really none of them are important." "The focus is not on getting to a perfect schedule. It's on creating and strengthening alignment of the team's effort." "Reality is undefeated." "Any system has a very few number of constraints, usually one." "If you manage the constraint, you manage the system." "You don't have to learn everything. You just have to be curious and learn how to learn." "Big, impactful things in the world get done through projects." It's a discussion about lean, which is certainly not precisely the same as critical chain or theory of constraints. But Mark is similarly geeky about how to improve how we go about projects. I think you'll find episode 472 a great follow-up to today's discussion. Episode 328 with Terry Schmidt. Terry's passion is LogFrame, and though it's different from what we talked about today, Terry's geekiness for LogFrame could inspire you to think differently about projects. Episode 320 with Greg Githins. Greg wrote a book about thinking strategically. What if the only thing standing between you and your next career breakthrough is a lesson you haven't learned yet? In this milestone episode, I'm reflecting on 100 plus episodes of podcasting and the unexpected career lessons that came with it. This isn't a highlight reel or a victory lap.
