The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 5th study session on Char Adams' Black-Owned: The Revolutionary Life of the Black Bookstore. Published at the end of 2025, Adams' new book made a number of lists for top books of the year. Touted as an "award-winning journalist, editor, and storyteller for NBC News, known for her work on race, identity, and inequitable systems," Adams is a lovely black female, Victim of Racism. This may be the first to seriously investigate the history of bookstores operated by people classified as black in the area of the world known as the US. Specifically, Adams investigates how black people have responded to the System of White Supremacy through the lens of bookstores ownership. C.O.W.S. listeners should know that White Supremacists have invested immense time and energy to ensure that black people do not read or have access to books. Last week, we learned about Eso Won Books in Los Angeles and Karibu Books in Maryland. Adams explained the lull in black bookstores following the 1970's and the end of the so-called Civil Rights Era. Fictional romance novels, the Oprah Winfrey Book Club, and a new generation of mostly black female authors such as Terry McMillan, Sister Souljah, bell hooks, Iyanla Vanzant, Dr. Shahrazad Ali, and E. Lynn Harris (black dude), sparked a resurgence of black literature at the close of the 20th century. Most of these books minimized focus on the System of White Supremacy and instead centered on sexual activity and "gender wars." Gus T. and listeners find it increasingly suspicious that Dr. Frances Cress Welsing and Neely Fuller Jr. are both excluded from this book, even though they each made countless appearances at many of the black bookstores mentioned by Adams. #COINTELPRO #TheCOWS17Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE 564943#

RADIO GAG - The Gays Against Guns Show

We honor Renee Good and Alex Pretti, the recent victims of the deadly, supposedly immigrant focused killings of two American citizens by the United States Department of Homeland Security and Immigration Customs Enforcement, better known as DHS and ICE. We'll also provide some context into these tragic and disorienting killings of our neighbors in Minneapolis and affirm that they are the result of White Supremacist and Fascist policies of our nation that in some ways are as “American as Apple Pie”. We include In Memoriams by Sylvan Robinson remembering Renee Nicole Macklin Good and Alex Pretti, who were killed in separate incidents only two weeks apart. GAG members and activists Cathy Marino Thomas and Josh Tjaden give us commentary on the hard hitting intersectionality of these deaths with our experience. We share an uplifting Interview with JP Thomas, organizing Director of Brady expanding on Brady's talking points on ICE deployment and tactics in our nation. Ti Cersley, GAG Vice President shares our January Press conference as Gays Against Guns celebrates ten years of fighting for LGBTQ Rights and working to end gun violence against LGBTQ people and all those in marginalized communities.

C.O.W.S. listeners should know that White Supremacists have invested immense time and energy to ensure that black people do not read or have access to books. So, black bookstores must be heavily targeted places. Last week, we discussed the Tree of Life Bookstore in Harlem and the Hue-Man Experience Bookstore in Denver. A central theme of this text is that black bookstore operators were motivated to provide books for black children. Importantly, last week Adams told us that a significant pattern is that black females often read fictional romance novels - like Terry McMillan's Waiting To Exhale, while black males mostly read non-fiction works of history. Gus notes that many of the fictional novels most popular with black females often omit the System of White Supremacy while highlighting black males as feverish, misogynistic ogres. #COINTELPRO #TheCOWS16Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE 564943#

The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Joshua Clark Davis. Classified as a White Man, Dr. Davis is an associate professor of U.S. history at the University of Baltimore. Much of his research examines area of law, politics, and economics within the System of White Supremacy. Gus learned about Dr. Davis' work while studying Char Adams' fabulous new work Black-Owned: The Revolutionary Life of the Black Bookstore. A major point of emphasis is that White Supremacists have invested extraordinary time and energy for centuries to prohibit black people from reading and studying about Racism. Consequently, black bookstores were key targets of Racist counterintelligence programs and sabotage. Adams' book was directly inspired by a 2016 report from Davis, The FBI's War on Black-Owned Bookstores. Gus hoped to discuss Davis' 2020 publication, From Head Shops to Whole Foods: The Rise and Fall of Activist Entrepreneurs. This book as a while chapter discussing the obstacles and labor of black bookstore owners. However, Dr. Davis requested to focus on his 2025 publication, Police Against the Movement: The Sabotage of the Civil Rights Struggle and the Activists Who Fought Back. This important work examines how local police departments sabotage and spy on black people who attempt counter-racism. Examinations of the FBI's COINTELPRO program often fail to examine the separate local surveillance operations which also labored to neutralize any counter-racist effort of non-white people. This book reveals many examples of White people lying by willfully concealing information. #TheGlassHouseTapes #TheCOWS16Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE 564943#

This shop was located on Jefferson Avenue less than 800 feet from the future TOPS Market where 10 black people would be killed in a 2022 White Terrorist attack. Adams also details Liberation Bookstore in Harlem, Hakim's Book's in Philadelphia, and Vaughn's Book Store in Detroit. This week we've got a really fascinating chat with Stewart Home. Originally a punk in London in the early days of the movement, he's since forged a career as a musician, author and visual artist. In this interview we talk at length about his early days as a punk in London in the late 70s and early 80s, and dig into how his own perception of the genre has helped to inform his outlook on music ever since. We dig into his 1994 treatise on punk rock, Cranked Up Really High, discussing his rather unique take on the genre and its legacy—including his controversial argument that punk rock wasn't actually influenced by Situationism. Naturally, conversation drifts into how right-wing oi! music grew out from the genre, touching on figures like Ian Stuart, Skrewdriver, and the uncomfortable middle-class origins of many prominent fascist punk bands. From there, we tie things into his latest book, Fascist Yoga: Grifters, Occultists, White Supremacists, and the New Order in Wellness, which takes a close look at the origins of modern yoga, uncovering the grifters and white supremacists who sat at the heart of the movement as it grew throughout the mid to late 20th century. In it, he argues that yoga served as a blueprint for the tactics and ideology that permeate the modern wellness movement—and traces the pipeline from 1960s counterculture libertarianism to today's anti-government conspiracism. Which, once again, leads into the far-right. Because, y'know, that's what we do. We thoroughly recommend both books: Cranked Up Really High is available to read fully on his website. Fascist Yoga: Grifters, Occultists, White Supremacists, and the New Order In Wellness currently available at all good booksellers, published by Pluto Press. Erinnerungskämpfe: Neues deutsches Geschichtsbewusstsein (Ditzingen: Reclam, 2023) is a new, provocative volume on German memory cultures and politics edited by Jürgen Zimmerer. What can be loosely translated as Memory Wars: New German Historical Consciousness is a collection of chapters that lay bare a mosaic of a diverse German memory landscape as well as the major debates and turning points by which it is continuously shaped. It is subdivided in five sections together encompassing 23 chapters and covers German Empire and colonialism, National Socialism and the Second World War, the Holocaust and multidirectional memory, East/West Germany and reunification, and, finally, today's Berlin Republic. This volume gains in relevance by the day and shows how the German past(s) and the way they are debated, commemorated, and weaponized today and by whom has real-life, if not existential, consequences. It is far from an exclusively German matter. Memory Wars: New German Historical Consciousness is of interest for all those who critically engage with the instrumentalization of memory in ongoing cultural wars in other national contexts as well, such as the heated debates and rightwing attacks in the United States and elsewhere surrounding fields such as Critical Race Theory, Gender or Queer Studies that emerge out of the White Supremacist backlash and the concomitant increase in racism, trans- and homophobia. Jürgen Zimmerer is Professor of Global History and the head of the research center “Hamburg's (post-)colonial legacy” at the University of Hamburg. He served as the founding president of the International Network of Genocide Scholars for twelve years until 2017 and was the Senior Editor of the Journal of Genocide from 2005 to 2011. His research interests include German Colonialism, Comparative Genocide studies, Colonialism and the Holocaust, and Environmental Violence and Genocide and, for the specific German context, his work has been crucial in revealing the deep connections between the Holocaust and German colonialism – up until that point two German histories of violence hegemonically thought of as ontologically different, if thought together at all. His publications include German Rule, African Subjects: State Aspirations and the Reality of Power in Colonial Namibia (2021) and From Windhoek to Auschwitz? Reflections on the Relationship between Colonialism and National Socialism forthcoming in English in 2024. Miriam Chorley-Schulz is an Assistant Professor and Mokin Fellow of Holocaust Studies at the University of Oregon and the co-founder of the EU-funded project We Refugees. Neo-Nazi sentiment has seen a recent resurgence globally, fueled by political polarization, economic disparities, and social grievances. The internet and social media have played a significant role in spreading extremist propaganda, while some politicians' normalization of hate speech has emboldened these groups. Combating this rise requires a multifaceted approach, including education, countering online extremism, promoting social cohesion, and addressing underlying grievances. My guest for this episode of The Influence Continuum was Kelvin Pierce, author of the memoir Sins of my Father: Growing up with America's Most Dangerous White Supremacist. His father, Dr. William Pierce, was a notorious white supremacist and founded the National Alliance, a prominent hate group. Dr. Pierce also wrote the novel The Turner Diaries, which racists widely cite as inspiration for their racist beliefs and actions. Kelvin was subjected to physical and emotional abuse and was taught to believe that Jews and non-whites were responsible for society's ills. Despite the personal abuse he suffered, Kelvin accepted his father's teachings and held onto these racist beliefs as he transitioned into adulthood. It shaped his worldview and interactions with others, even though he didn't openly broadcast these beliefs. Kelvin was able to shed his indoctrination, create the charitable organization "Divine Child Foundation" to help orphans in Georgia, publish his memoir, and live a life of activism and inspiration fighting racism and extremism. It is impossible to deny the impact of lies and white supremacy on the institutional conditions in US prisons. There is a particular power dynamic of racist intent in the prison system that culminates in what Brittany Friedman terms "carceral apartheid." Prisons are a microcosm of how carceral apartheid operates as a larger governing strategy to decimate political targets and foster deceit, disinformation, and division in society. Among many shocking discoveries, Friedman shows that beginning in the 1950s, California prison officials declared war on imprisoned Black people and sought to identify Black militants as a key problem, creating a strategy for the management, segregation, and elimination of these individuals from the prison population that continues into the present day. Carceral Apartheid: How Lies and White Supremacists Run Our Prisons (UNC Press, 2025), delves into how the California Department of Corrections deployed various official, clandestine, and at times extralegal control techniques, including officer alliances with imprisoned white supremacists, to suppress Black political movements, revealing the broader themes of deception, empire, corruption, and white supremacy in American mass incarceration. Drawing from original interviews with founders of Black political movements such as the Black Guerilla Family, white supremacists, and a swath of little-known archival data, Friedman uncovers how the US domestic war against imprisoned Black people models and perpetuates genocide, imprisonment, and torture abroad. This Week In White Supremacy 1HOOD begins by tackling the recent Turning Point USA's America Fest, a gathering criticized for its lineup of guest speeches, including JD Vance's claim that "you don't have to apologize for being white anymore" which prompts a serious discussion on victimhood and the false narratives that some politicians promote to appeal to their constituents as extreme rhetoric that seeks to create an illusion of oppression among the white demographic that's historically dominated political and economic spheres in the U.S.Said and Miracle share personal anecdotes, highlighting the ridiculousness of the notion that white people have ever needed to apologize for their race. They assert that realms of power remain predominantly led by white individuals, painting any claims of widespread discrimination or oppression against them as unfounded. On a lighter but equally critical note, the conversation shifts to Nicki Minaj's surprising appearance at the America Fest, positioning herself alongside conservative figures. Her actions are scrutinized as a betrayal of her roots and initial supporter base, especially the LGBTQ+ community that played a vital role in her rise to fame. The hosts express concern that her current stance undermines her authenticity and alienates a once-loyal fan base.Another focal point is the media's role in propagating certain narratives, as discussed in a controversial decision made by Barry Weiss. As new editor-in-chief of CBS News, Weiss halted a critical segment on 60 Minutes about a harsh El Salvador prison housing deportees. This move, following consultation with the Trump administration for more input, has sparked debate over free press and media manipulation and the rising trend of billionaires buying media outlets, likening the situation to state-controlled media. 1HOOD argues this manipulation is indicative of a broader trend to control information and suppress dissenting voices, creating a pseudo-democratic landscape where journalistic freedom is compromised. As the conversation wraps, hosts emphasize the need for solidarity and awareness amidst rising inequalities and divisive rhetoric. They call for audiences to recognize manipulation tactics used by those in power and offer support to movements dedicated to justice and equality. The episode serves as a reminder of the pervasive influence of white supremacy and the media's role in shaping societal views. As the new year approaches, they encourage listeners to remain vigilant and active in their communities, confronting these issues head-on. This Week In White Supremacy continues to provide a platform for insightful and critical discussions, balancing humor, and seriousness to tackle pertinent cultural and political issues. 1HOOD's vibrant conversations serve to enlighten and engage audiences, encouraging broader awareness and action against injustice. Welcome back to another edition of "This Weekend in White Supremacy," where we dissect the multifaceted and often harsh realities of modern America. As black individuals and immigrants in America, the group discusses feeling the chilling effects of living within a system entrenched in white supremacy. Much of the discussion centers around the enigmatic and controversial figure of former President Donald Trump; reflecting on his statements and their implications for communities of color, particularly Somali-Americans. This includes his recent "garbage" criticisms of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, which sparked significant discontent and fear among Minnesota's immigrant communities. Miracle passionately emphasizes the importance of supporting the Somali community and other marginalized communities in the face of hateful rhetoric. As a country, the responsibility falls on all of us to dismantle systems that create refugees and to embrace those seeking safety and a better life. And then there is the pervasive theme of affordability—once ironically deemed a “Democratic hoax” by Trump, despite his original (now flip-flopping) campaign promises. The cost of living, from the price of groceries to housing, continues to soar, exacerbating the struggles of regular Americans who yell tales of grocery bills that break the bank while the weakest links, Democrat leaders, Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries fail to tackle the issues facing the working class and impoverished communities. SEASON 4 EPISODE 37: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: There are three critical headlines: Trump has now convinced me he is sick, the way President Woodrow Wilson was sick. Once again it looks like Tuesday's cabinet meeting attendees were warned: praise him today because he may not recognize you tomorrow. It's Anosognosia and it's why Trump can convince himself that of course nobody knows what body part the MRI they just got was for. They never tell anybody what the MRI is for. What are you, an idiot? Secondly, with his nauseating attack on Somali-Americans of Minnesota yesterday and Tuesday, we will no longer accept any debate on this point: Donald Trump is a full-on White Supremacist, a racist who is no longer hiding it, who cannot continue as president. The hood is OFF. And thirdly, it is increasingly obvious that the Democrats must have put out that Do-Not-Obey-Illegal-Orders video when they did because there a chain of evidence has come to light suggesting the September 2 kill-the-boat-survivors order from the Secretary of War Crimes…was an illegal order, right? Plus, the racist reaction to the DC shootings will remind anybody in the next Afghanistan whose help we need that any promise we make to them, we will break. Thank you John Ratcliffe and Trump. B-Block (35:45) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: The Department of Labor couldn't decide which would best enhance its Lincoln meme: the stars from the Confederate flag, or the font the Nazis used. So they chose both! Bari Weiss wants more main stream charismatic figures for CBS News. You know, like Alan Dershowitz. And not to say Larry David destroyed Bill Maher's life with his article about Bill breaking bread with Trump ("My Dinner With Adolf") but Maher is complaining about it again. The article was in APRIL. C-Block (56:00) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: The passing of the greatest Production Assistant in SportsCenter history, future stand-up comic Steve "Sarge" Pickman. And that little Nuzzi-Lizza story now extends to illegal taping, erasure of evidence, what might be the worst reviews for a political book this century ("Olivia Nuzzi's Tell-Nothing Memoir"), a series of rebuttals so long that it could become the basis for a Ken Burns Documentary series - and the under-reported news that Nuzzi's contract with Vanity Fair expires in four weeks. There's no need to fire her, she'll just fade away over the holidays.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The C.O.W.S. welcomes Robert J. Rodgers Jr. Classified as a black male, Rodgers is a California educator with a focus on aiding non-white students to thrive in the classroom. He's authored a number of reports, including his 2025 dissertation: Empowering Representation: Addressing the Shortage of African American Male Educators in Public Schools. With privileged black males accounting for 2% of the kindergarten through 12th grade public school teachers in the United States, there should be attempts to correct this appalling classroom void. Mr. Rodgers shares the classroom experiences of a number of black males educators. Some of them logged decades in front of the classroom before retiring. Others encountered massive surveillance of their teaching style and little support from their overwhelmingly White female colleagues. With Pres. Trump and Secretary of Education Linda McMahon coolly focused on the permanent eradication of the Department of Education, it seems likely that any efforts to explicitly train and recruit black male teachers might be annihilated. Dr. Rodgers indulged us and allowed us to ask about Racist Suspects Jane Elliott and Dr. Robin DiAngelo as well as his use of the terms "African American Culture" and "underserved communities." #BlackMalePrivilege INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE 564943#

She is the mom of two young adult sons who have math and science skills that seem to have bypassed her. For more information about Aviva, visit her website here. Learn more about your ad choices. Conservative activist Robby Starbuck is suing Google for defamation after the tech giant's AI tools allegedly linked him to false accusations of sexual assault, child rape and financial exploitation, among others."They've had [two years] to fix this," Starbuck said Monday on "The Will Cain Show.""That's beyond negligence. Lots of work to do—let's get to it—Here are 3 big things for this hour—   Number One— A Federal Judge rules the West Virginia National Guard can remain on the job in DC—cleaning up the city and putting a pinch on crime—which has been greatly reduced—another win for the Trump team— Number Two— The Supreme Court has accepted a case on whether or not ballots can be counted that show up after Election Day—and it could have serious implications— Number Three— “I am white, I can't change that. I am Christian by choice, and I choose to love my nation. The left has demonized those things. They are trying to turn those things into White Supremacist. They try to DEMONIZE us as hateful bigots. I reject that smear and the labels they try to force on me. We need to tell the truth about who we are and give a full throttle defense of our beliefs.”

Dr. Uché Blackstock visits Town Hall Seattle to discuss her motivation to be a physician and the impact of the System of White Supremacy on the healthcare of black people. Author of the book, Legacy: A Black Physician Reckons with Racism in Medicine. Gus T. read portions of this book when it was originally published and heavily advertised in 2024. He particularly remembers the portion of the text where Dr. Blackstock details the failures with pulse oximeters (failures that specifically harm black patients), and emphasizes that Whites have been aware of these failures for decades, yet they do not correct the problem. During this sold out discussion, which featured more black audience members than Gus has seen at any Seattle event addressing Racism, Dr. Blackstock provides details about being a second generation physician and the impact of her black mother being a doctor. She address the dearth of black doctors and White Supremacists like Abraham Flexner, who deliberately demolished black medical schools to ensure there are few black doctors - like Dr. Frances Cress Welsing. Dr. Blackstock also reported that the practice of "race correcting," where Racist/White health professionals conclude that negro bodies are different and inferior to White bodies and must be subject to different medical practices, continues well into the 21st century. Again, this practice endures not because of White ignorance, but because of White dedication to the System of White Supremacy. Gus T. was able to ask a question about this. #VictimsOfRacismDoNotQualifyForHealth INVEST in The COWS - http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: http://cash.app/$TheCOWS Call: 720.716.7300 Code: 564943#
