Why fix something that isn't broken? India seem to be overcomplicating their combination in the ODI series against England, which is a worrying sign ahead of the Champions Trophy. There appears to be a real problem of plenty for coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma. Why on earth did they leave out Shreyas Iyer for the series opener in Nagpur? An injury to Virat Kohli meant Shreyas got an opportunity after a late phone call from the skipper. The star batter revealed he was not in the XI as late as the eve of the match. India had initially decided to play both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill in the XI at the expense of Shreyas. However, after Shreyas let his bat do the talking in the first ODI, India dropped Yashasvi for the second match.Similarly, India picked four spinners in their squad for the Champions Trophy and later added Varun Chakravarthy. Why are we mixing formats again? Why not Kuldeep Yadav instead of Varun? The team combination issue isn't limited to India. Injuries have forced the likes of Pakistan and Australia to rethink their line-ups.With just over a week to go before the Champions Trophy, things are starting to heat up.In the latest episode of the Sledging Room podcast, we discuss the selection muddle and the build-up to the Champions Trophy.Tune In!Produced by Garvit SrivastavaSound mixed by Rohan Bharti

Having won the toss and chosen to bat first on a flat pitch in Vizag, India finished the opening day on 336-6 to leave things very much in the balance. On a day where no other Indian batter managed to pass 35, Yashasvi Jaiswal notched an epic second Test century, ending the day unbeaten on 179*. James Anderson bowled with excellent control on his return to the side, while Shoaib Bashir, one of England's three inexperienced spinners, impressed on debut, picking up the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Axar Patel. A wonderful knock from 22-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal has put India in a strong position after the opening day of the series in Hyderabad. Having won the toss and chosen to bat, England were bowled out for 246, with eight wickets shared between India's three spinners. Ben Stokes batted nicely on his return from surgery for 70, but was one of two wickets to fall to the ever impressive Jasprit Bumrah. The hosts made good progress in the evening session, with Jaiswal in particular making sure England's spinners struggled for control. They'll resume tomorrow on 119-1, trailing by 127 runs. 0:00 Recap / 3:39 England's innings / 14:00 India's innings / 22:07 Tomorrow You can follow Wisden Cricket on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok: https://www.facebook.com/WisdenCric https://www.instagram.com/wisden_cricket/ https://twitter.com/WisdenCricket https://www.tiktok.com/@wisdencricket The latest issue of Wisden Cricket Monthly is available now at https://wisden.com/shop/wisden-cricket-monthly-issue-74 The digital version of the magazine is also available for just £2 a month at https://pocketmags.com/wisden-cricket-monthly-magazine#5c1cd17fa0b05 #Cricket #IndianCricket #EnglandCricket Learn more about your ad choices. Yashasvi Jaiswal stole the headlines with a scintillating hundred on debut against the sorry West Indies side. On a white ball front, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been elevated to a leadership role for the Asian Games in China, signalling his rising stock in the team. This week on the show, Binksy, Raj and Stu recap the week that was and look ahead to the 4th men's Ashes Test at Old Trafford. We start by discussing India's dominant victory against the West Indies, which saw a big century on Test debut for Yashasvi Jaiswal and a 12-wicket haul for Ravichandran Ashwin. Alick Athanaze offered some glimmers of positivity for the West Indies, but, apart from winning the battle of the uniforms, it was a tough outing for the home side.In New Zealand news, Gary Stead received a contract extension that will see him remain as head coach through to the end of this World Test Championship cycle in 2025. Did this come as a surprise? Were there other candidates in the mix? Should NZC have given more thought to a split coaching role? Or does Stead's outstanding record as coach speak for itself? Attention then turned to the Kiwis on display around the world, including Matt Henry, who starred in the Vitality Blast, combining with Ish Sodhi to bowl Somerset to the title. Is the best still yet to come for Henry in international colours? At Major League Cricket in the USA, Devon Conway scored the first 50 of the tournament, but it was Corey Anderson who had us all wondering what might have been if injuries hadn't disrupted his international career. We give our initial thoughts on the tournament so far, and whether it has the potential to become a significant part of the cricket calendar. We round out the show by looking ahead to the next men's Ashes Test, fresh off Australia securing the women's Ashes with a narrow victory in the second ODI. Both teams have questions around selection, with David Warner, Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh in the spotlight for Australia and an absent Baldy making a case for Michael Neser to play. But will we actually be looking at largely unchanged sides in a few days' time? And will the rain stay away long enough for a result? We'll be back next week with more of the same, including the Tests in England and the West Indies. Does this mean that the national selection committee has set the succession plan in place? Besides the Test squad, does the ODI squad give a clear indication about India's core of 20 players for the 2023 World Cup? Aditya Joshi gives an insight into the squad selection.

What is there to be said about Karzzz? A true landmark in how to remake a film and make an absolute delightful mess of it. Karan and Yashasvi marvel at the Himesh Cinematic Universe and all the nonsense that comes with. Experience the rebirth in your earholes.
Yashasvi and Karan attempt the worst movie yet - a movie that broke Karans family apart, a film that yashasvi had avoided for all these years untill now. Tees Maar Khan is mind numbingly unfunny, has plenty of vicious insider jabs, racism, punching down jokes and terrible performances.
Indian Matchmaking Star Vyasar joins Yashasvi and Karan to talk about the superhero sequel to the ET ripoff that was Koi Mil Gaya. Yashasvi and Karan are joined by Deep Fried Neurons to talk about the best case scenario of copying someone else's homework - Kaante. Listen to this episode to make sense of why despite all that - they still loved this film
Yashasvi and Karan watched a multistarrer that came and went like most Zayed Khan and Riteish Deshmukh films. THis one subverts all the heist tropes badly, avoids making a coherent plot, giving the characters any backstory or dimensions. Pls 2 listen. Follow us on Instagram: @badnbollywood to follow our posts about this dumpster fire

Yashasvi and Karan meet their match (not for marriage) with the worst movie in existence that trudges along for 3 and a half hours with 12 Priyanka's (guiness book remembers) and worst of all - Harman Baweja. Come for the rashee talk but stay for the fetishes, reincarnations and never ending "songs"
Yashasvi and Karan take a minor upgrade with a movie that feels like Mohit Suri trying to relive the glory of his older movies - but with much worde results. With truly shocking dubbing, "Goa" montages that go on forever and a plot that takes forever to get to the important point - Malang isn't the worst film they've encountered but has big "what could have been" energy.

Deep fried neurons helps Yashasvi and Karan process this very uncomfortable film that is steeped in misogyny, workplace harassment and hypocritical characters. Deep Fried also uses his law education to navigate the absurd courtroom scenes. And as always...Karan reveals too much towards the end.

Yashasvi and Karan watched the second installment of Dharma's epic franchise with Tiger doing pointless parkour, Tara Sutaria flip flopping whenever it is convenient to the plot, a vague dignity cup and a baffling coffee shop scene. Disclaimer - this episode was recorded before Karan discovered his love for Tiger Shroff. He would like to withdraw anything negative he said about the greatest actor of our generation.
Yashasvi, Karan, Devina and Madhavi paid money to go watch this atrocity in theatres. The gang (eagle & bichoo) cover the misogyny, the homophobia, the toing and everything else that numbed their brain. Also Madhavi does a special reading of a positive review of the film....
