In this week's episode Mike, Rich and Steve are joined by Rick Ives, writer/director/editor of SOLID ROCK TRUST, a film which we regarded very highly when we reviewed it last year (see ep 218). Rick joins us to discuss the film and his career. If you haven't had a chance to see the film yet, click HERE for info! In the review section we kick off with Nicolas Cage in THE OLD WAY (Altitude Films), touted as his first role in a western! Next we have Aubrey Plaza in EMILY THE CRIMINAL(Medium Rare Entertainment), in which a struggling artist slides further and further into a life of crime. Finally we have THE HARBINGER (Signature Entertainment) which went down well at last year's film fests. Will it fare as well with us? Rick Ives also joins us to discuss our Short Shot, DREAM WAR - a fan film, but of what? check out the link to watch the whole film! Finally, our DTV Throwback is YOU MIGHT BE THE KILLER - a horror comedy in which camp counselor Fran Kranz is terrorised by a masked maniac - or, is he??? This is currently available on Shudder: check out our review to find out if its worth catching! Follow the Short Shots TWITTER page, where we will be linking to a short film every day! Don't forget to also check out our main show, the DTV DIGEST on TWITTER and FACEBOOK!
Megan kicks things off with a quick review of George Miller's disappointing fantasy THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING (3:23), where a lonely scholar (Tilda Swinton) encounters a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers to grant her three wishes. Next, we discuss Jeff Baena's zany comedy SPIN ME ROUND (11:43), starring Alison Brie as the manager of an Olive Garden-like restaurant on a company trip to Italy. Then we cover William Brent Bell's ORPHAN: FIRST KILL (30:15), a satisfying, fun prequel to the 2009 horror film ORPHAN, starring Isabelle Fuhrman reprising her role, that truly justifies its existence. And in this week's Patreon exclusive audio, we talk about the winner of our summer-camp horror movie poll: YOU MIGHT BE THE KILLER! Join Our Patreon Buy Spoilerpiece Merch

You Might Be The Killer, starring Fran Kranz and Alyson Hannigan, is another in a long line of horror comedies that aims to deconstruct the 80s slasher genre. But is it one of the better ones? Does it bring anything new to the campfire? Will it leave you up a creek without a kayak? We've got opinions! In our mini-reviews, we tackle films that have colours in the title. Slicin' Dicin' Dave goes green in the cannibal-infested Amazon, Jason the Terrible meets Bela Lugosi's personal cadre of zombies, and Graverobber Geoff explores a movie that's "just evil!" The Actor CEO Podcast: Acting Business | Interviews | Motivation
Brett Simmons is a writer/director of film and television, working on projects that include “Husk”, “You Might Be The Killer” and the CW tv series “Pandora. He went to school at Chapman University in Southern California and has actually...wait for it...taken acting classes so he says he gets actors and "understands where they're coming from." The problem with most directors, as he sees it, is that when they are trained they are directing other directors...not actors. So when it comes time to work with actors on set or even in the audition room, they may not have a fluid and easy relationship to those actors. Hear how Brett overcomes that and what he says makes actors stand out in the audition room in this episode. The post What a Director Looks for in an Actor with Brett Simmons appeared first on Actor CEO.

This summer, Claire had her first experience with sleep away camp! Naturally, we decided to dive into a camp-based horror-comedy slasher film with the Shudder original You Might Be The Killer. This movie started as a Twitter riff between authors Sam Sykes and Chuck Wendig, which just goes to show rad movie ideas can come from anywhere with a team of awesome people bring them to life. Claire shares a couple of camp stories and then we dig into some slasher tropes with this ridiculously fun movie! Follow the podcast @BaCEAPodcast on Twitter. Dazu gehören natürlich „The Rise of Skywalker“ und der passende Trailer dazu. Zum Beispiel "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile“ oder „El Angel“ oder „You Might Be The Killer“ und dann auch „Dragged Across Concrete“.

Meta horror is a tightrope and sometimes even the greats lose their balance.
