While singing remains a talent of mine, it is the strumming of ukuleles (baritone and tenor especially) which has become my greener pastures. Using my Fender gear, he strums a thousand songs spanning 1920s to 1980s. Once upon a time he thought he was a musician, until the day he realized that he is music. We are all music. Darion Weatherspoon a.k.a. “Spoon” was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. attending and graduating with honors from Canyon Springs High School. Darion would go on to graduate from Clark Atlanta University, Magna Cum Laude, with a degree in Fashion Design. He would be the only male fashion design student graduating out of the 2018 class. While in school Darion held the honor of Mr. Fashion Department, and was inducted as a member of Phi Kappa Phi National honor Society. He was heralded as a trailblazer being the first and only student-athlete to play NCAA football and major in design. While working as a busboy at Bellagio, he took the opportunity to learn about the food service industry, talking with cooks, wait staff and hosts. After he wanted to test his entrepreneurial skills by opening his own establishments in 2011; Da Lat Vietnamese Cuisine and shortly after Jasmines restaurant. He shares his experiences and lessons learned with other entrepreneurs in Nevada Grow Non-Profit, which is an organization who assists small business ventures to start and grow, providing assistance to new business owners. He is actively involved in the Asian American community, as a board member of the Vietnamese Nevada Cultural committee, he volunteers at events helping to raise awareness and promote businesses within the community to the public. During the 2022 Vietnamese Tet Lunar New Year festival, he was a guest speaker. Being a part of the Premier Financial Alliance (PFA), he is an active Living Benefits Crusader.
