Discover the seismic shifts within the highest court of the United States as legal scholar and former Clerk to Supreme Court Justice William Douglas, Lucas Powe, and Shawn unravel the conservative turn of the Roberts Court. We dissect the landmark decisions that have not only redefined the legal landscape but have also sparked debates about the very legitimacy of the Supreme Court. Our discussion ventures into the ethical complexities faced by Justices Alito and Thomas, and how recent rulings may influence crucial elections looming on the horizon.Join us for a profound analysis of the Supreme Court's ideological journey, where we juxtapose the court's modern conservative ethos with the liberal undertones of the Warren Court era. We scrutinize the court's recent forays into Second Amendment rights, affirmative action, and the unsettling reluctance to adhere to precedent. Through our dialogue, we probe the philosophical underpinnings of originalism and deliberate on whether the court is swaying too far from its historical moorings, risking its own integrity. As we peer into the intricate dance between the Supreme Court and public opinion, we tackle the question of judicial reform, including the contentious debate on imposing term limits for justices. We seek to illuminate the court's alignment with certain societal values and its consequential role in shaping our democracy. It's a pivotal moment for judicial independence and impartiality, and we emphasize the importance of maintaining these principles to uphold the democratic promise of justice and fairness, particularly as we stand at the cusp of critical electoral decisions.Recommended: The Warren Court and American Politics - Lucas Powe-------------------------Follow Deep Dive:InstagramPost.newsYouTube Email: deepdivewithshawn@gmail.com **Artwork: Dovi Design **Music: Joystock

Many thanks to Art Advisor Michael Powe for your time talking to us.Michael's business is Anala Art Advisory. https://analaartadvisory.com.auJohnny Romeos show, Cloud 9, is opening on Friday 10 March in Melbourne at West End Art Space. https://westendartspace.com.au/exhibitions_details/johnny-romeo-pop-popart/‘When it comes to capturing this overwhelming sense of being high on life, few expressions exude with the same joy and wide-eyed wonderment as ‘Cloud 9'. According to some linguists, the concept of Cloud 9 originates from the categorization of the world's largest cloud, the Cumulonimbus, as a Level 9 cloud in the 1896 ‘International Cloud Atlas'. Others have suggested that the term was inspired by the ninth cloud in the journey of the Bodhissatva, considered to be the penultimate step to Enlightenment in Buddhism. Within the context of the series, Romeo masterfully combines the lofty grandeur of being on top of the world with a sense of spiritual ecstasy to express his own Cloud 9 philosophy, which encourages us to embrace life to the fullest in order to experience true joy.'Curated by Michael Powe

The Lane Kiffin-to-Auburn rumors won't go away, but Ole Miss still has two games left, and the second 10-win regular season in school history is still very much within reach. The Rebels (8-2, 4-2 SEC) next travel to Arkansas (5-5, 2-4) Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network, meaning the most-pressing short-term question is whether the outside noise is adversely affecting the locker room in any way.Fortunately, all-time Ole Miss great Jerrell Powe is here to provide some perspective.Ole Miss has dealt with plenty of in-season coaching rumors in modern history. Jerrell Powe, an all-time Rebel football great, will never be able to bring himself to pick against Ole Miss. But even Powe recognizes the challenge the Rebels face on Saturday, when they host Alabama at 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS. While the Crimson Tide isn't the same dominant force it's been for almost two decades, Bryce Young and Co. aren't a great matchup for Ole Miss. The Rebels have struggled with mobile quarterbacks all year (LSU's Jayden Daniels put five total touchdowns on them in their only loss of the year), and Young, a former Heisman Trophy winner, is inarguably one of the best in the country.“We struggle against guys that have mobility,” Powe said, in this edition of Powe Corner, in association with Talk of Champions. “This guy, he can beat you in the pocket or he can get outside the pocket and beat you. We're going to have our hands full.“We've got to get him off the spot. If we can find a way to get Bryce Young off the spot and contained and those guys do a good job on the back end, we've definitely got a chance. But we're definitely going to have to outscore them. The offense can't make any mistakes. Every time we take the field, we've got to get something positive out of it.”Powe believes Ole Miss will have to play its best and most complete game of the year to have a chance.Of course, the Rebels don't really have any other choice but to win if they hope to keep their SEC title and College Football Playoff hopes alive. Ole Miss no longer control its postseason destiny following LSU's win over Alabama; the Tigers hold the tiebreaker should both teams finish with just one SEC loss. But Powe is convinced LSU gets knocked off this weekend.“Arkansas is fixin' to beat LSU,” he said. “I guarantee it.”Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss weren't the only Rebels who took their first loss of the season on Saturday.All-time Rebel great Jerrell Powe had Ole Miss and the under. So, for the first time in the month-long history of Powe Corner, an Ole Miss podcast in association with Talk of Champions and the Ole Miss Spirit, he's left licking his wounds.Powe, like Ole Miss, will look to rebound this week against Texas A&M. The Rebels (7-1, 3-1 SEC) and the Aggies (3-4, 1-3) will kick off in College Station Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network.“In the words of the Reverend Houston Nutt, this is a gotta-have-it situation,” Powe said. How can the Rebels rebound?Tackle better, for starters.“My expectation's for us to get better,” Powe said. His early score prediction is a 38-31 Ole Miss win. “I want to see us play four quarters of football, guys play gap-assignment football and tackle, man. We can't be missing tackles. The (LSU) tight end, I think in the third quarter, it was a simple little flat route, out route and we missed it. He took it 40 yards. We can't let that happen.“That kills a defense right then and there. We cannot let stuff like that happen.”Powe believes the LSU loss could be Ole Miss' 2008 Florida moment.Powe and the Rebels went into the Swamp that year and upset Heisman winner Tim Tebow and the then-top-ranked No. 1 Florida. The Gators never lost again en route to a national championship. That's the rosiest of outlooks, to be sure, but Powe has confidence in their ability to dust themselves off. Ole Miss is a 3.5-point road favorite, while the point total for the game is 55.He has Ole Miss and the over.“Guys were in position (against LSU) but we weren't getting pass rush,” he said. “Guys were getting knocked out of their gap. They weren't keeping the rush lanes balanced.“They need to play better, I'll just leave it at that.”Back to Powe Corner!Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Ole Miss will have to pull off its first win at LSU since 2008 if the Rebels hope to remain undefeated and in control of the SEC West. The Rebels are perfect (7-0, 3-0 SEC) through a season's first seven games for just the second time since the 60s. But they'll try to avoid the fate of 2014, when their streak was snapped, and season derailed, with a loss in their eighth game at LSU.“I would like to see us run the ball and establish the run game and kind of milk the clock,” all-time Ole Miss football great Jerrell Powe said Wednesday. “Keep them off the field. We're going to score 30 easily.“But I think we need to do what we were doing Saturday (against Auburn). Run the ball (and) not go as fast. We need to have a four-minute mindset every time we take the field. We're trying to milk the clock and go score.”Powe made his comments in the latest edition of Powe Corner, a podcast in association with the Ole Miss Spirit and Talk of Champions.Powe expects the Rebels to get LSU's absolute best, especially after Ole Miss continued its climb in Top 25 polls this week. The Rebels, fresh off a 48-34 win over Auburn, are the consensus No. 7 team in the country. They're first in the SEC West, too, with Alabama and LSU, in that order, hot on their heels. The Crimson Tide lost to Tennessee and nexts hosts Mississippi State, Ole Miss' in-state rival. The Tigers, meanwhile, are 5-2 (3-1), including a 45-35 win at Florida over the weekend.“Keep their offense off the field because I am a little concerned with the defense, and I don't want to get in a pissing contest with them,” Powe said. “(LSU QB Jayden Daniels) is putting up numbers. He's putting up points, and I feel like they haven't really taken but one loss.“This guy scares me. They've only taken one true loss, and this guy can beat you with his legs, and we've been struggling with running quarterbacks.”Ole Miss opened as a 2.5-point favorite. However, Caesars Sportsbook flipped to LSU (-1.5) on Monday, and the Tigers held there a day later. The over/under sat at 66.0 points.“I like the money's starting to come down,” Powe said. “Take the under. Everybody's going to take the over because we score a lot of points and LSU has been putting up pretty good points.”Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Lane Kiffin has never beaten Auburn going on three seasons as Ole Miss head coach.All-time Ole Miss great Jerrell Powe expects that to change on Saturday, when the No. 9-ranked Rebels host the SEC West rival Tigers at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN.“He's going to beat the (heck) out of them," Powe said, in this edition of Talk of Champions, an Ole Miss podcast in association with the Ole Miss Spirit.“We might even see a clipboard flying.”Powe has reason for confidence. The Rebels are 6-0 (2-0 SEC) to start a season for just the second time since the 60s, while Auburn (3-3, 1-2) is reeling and potentially on the verge of firing head coach Bryan Harsin.Ole Miss, a heavy favorite (+15), will have to play well, of course. The Rebels trailed at halftime for the first time all year in an eventual 52-28 win at Vanderbilt last week, allowing the Commodores to score on four of their five first-half drives. However, Ole Miss flipped the script and outscored Vanderbilt, 42-8, from the last minute of the second quarter onward.“I think we had an ‘Oh (crap)' moment last week,” Powe said. He's taking Ole Miss and the over. “They came out at halftime and they got back on script and did what they needed to do. I think we're going to build off that and carry it over to (the Auburn) game.”Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
The undefeated No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels (5-0, 1-0 SEC) will look to continue their winning ways Saturday at Vanderbilt (3-2, 0-1). All-time Ole Miss great Jerrell Powe — like Vegas, which has the Rebels favored by 18 — is expecting a relatively easy win. But where should you put your money? Powe's the one to ask. Last week he totally called Ole Miss winning, but not covering, against then-No. 7 Kentucky.Plus, the one-time Rebel defensive tackle‘s thoughts on the lack of involvement for tight end Michael Trigg (“Baby Tony Gonzalez”), Ole Miss not playing down to Vanderbilt, Quinshon Judkins looking like the second-coming of Trent Richardson and much more.“I would like to see him more involved,” Powe said of Trigg, in this edition of Powe Corner, in association with the Ole Miss Spirit (On3) and Talk of Champions. “I want to see him get active. Over the years, we've utilized our tight end a lot. I want to see (Trigg) get going.”Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
All-time Rebel football great Jerrell Powe is calling an Ole Miss win over Kentucky on Saturday. But he doesn't expect the Rebels to cover.Actually, his full advice? Bet the moneyline and have a good Sunday awash in your spoils, as he details in this edition of Powe Corner, a podcast in association with Talk of Champions and the Ole Miss Spirit, an affiliate of On3.Plus, Powe isn't pressing the panic button after the Ole Miss defense failed to generate a sack in last week's 35-27 win over Tulsa. They did have 10 quarterback pressures, among other positives.Tulsa, in many ways, was nothing more than the end of the preseason, anyway. He expects a different level of game — both on the field and in the stands — once the Wildcats roll into town for what will be a matchup of Top 15 and undefeated teams.Powe also brings back his Ed Orgeron impression to tell a story about why he chose Ole Miss over LSU, as well as identifies the Rebels' current position in the SEC pecking order.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
All-time Ole Miss great Jerrell Powe is here for his first installment of Powe Corner, in association with the Ole Miss Spirit and Talk of Champions. And, boy, does he have some thoughts on Ole Miss football in 2022.Powe believes the season's next two weeks (Tulsa and Kentucky) will tell us a lot about where the Rebels stand, and he also sees some of himself in defensive tackle JJ Pegues, the Oxford kid returned home from Auburn. He's been a force in the middle of a stout Ole Miss defense.Plus, Powe's trip to Georgia Tech, early returns for a talented stable of Rebel running backs, whether Alabama is beatable and his genuine belief in Ole Miss' ability to run the table.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

From glow-in-the-dark stickers to bioluminescent bacteria, twinkling fireflies to radiant jellyfish, the world is full of things that have the power to shine a light in the darkness. But how do glow-in-the-dark things actually work? We asked chemistry professor Aleeta M. Powe to illuminate this question for us. If you've got a question that we could shine some light on, send it to us at BrainsOn.org/contact and we'll do our best to brighten your day.
