Matt Badiali, Editor of The New Energy Investor published under Mangrove Investor, joins us to assess what President Trump's new executive order to fast-track critical mineral development in the U.S. really means for the mining sector - and where investors should be paying attention. While the order includes aggressive timelines and a broad list of minerals, even gold, Matt believes it's more of a political signal than a regulatory breakthrough. Without actual changes to permitting laws and processes, he argues the order won't speed up mine development on its own. That said, it could succeed in attracting new capital to the sector, especially for U.S.-based projects and companies stuck in permitting limbo. Matt highlights how high-profile assets like Pebble, Resolution, and projects across Minnesota and South Carolina are now back in focus as permitting plays gain momentum. But he cautions that without deeper policy reform, and funding, many of these projects could remain stalled. He also explains why a key section of the executive order, invoking the Defense Production Act to support project financing, might be the most impactful. If capital finally starts flowing from U.S. agencies into early-stage exploration or advanced development projects, it could represent a major turning point for the sector. Matt Badili, Editor of the New Energy Investor, published under Mangrove Investor, joins us for a wide-ranging conversation on the energy transition trends, backed by policy makers and manufacturing companies, and their impact on commodities, the electric grid, and daily life. We take a nuanced look at what global trends are gaining or losing traction, and what perceptions have changed regarding the proposed transition from legacy hydrocarbons like coal, oil, and natural gas, to more of a focus on carbon-free energy generation sources like nuclear, solar, and wind, in addition to more energy storage. These various newer power generation methods necessary for swapping oil and gas for electricity, impact both the reliability of the power grid and even the space necessary to accommodate this power generation. Each energy input and energy storage platform has different strengths and weaknesses, and also requires different commodities like copper, silver, uranium, lithium and rare earths. It's a nuanced discussion, and by the end we tie in some of the investing themes and takeaways. Click here to visit the Mangrove Investor website to follow along with Matt's market commentary.
Matt Badili, Editor of the New Energy Investor, published under Mangrove Investor joins us to share a conversation from PDAC discussing how US investors are restricted from investing in small cap junior resource stocks. We have consistently heard about the difficulties for US investors to clear Private Placement shares and even get their brokers to buy TSX.V and even OTC listed stocks. We discuss what companies can do to open up the US market. Also if investors should note if a stock is on a US exchange when doing their due diligence. Some resource sectors, like uranium and lithium stocks have had success in the US but it takes capital and a strategy to capture the US investors attention. Click here to visit the Mangrove Investor website to follow along with Matt's market commentary.
Matt Badiali, Editor of the New Energy Investor published under Mangrove Investor joins us to discuss the recent re-balance of SILJ (junior silver focused) and the other ETFs focused on junior resource stocks. While we have discussed in the past, these ETFs don't truly track junior stocks. The majority of stocks within SILJ and GDXJ, to name a couple of the "junior focused" ETFs, hold many more larger mining companies and sometimes companies that are not focused on the main metal of the ETF. Matt Badiali, Editor of the New Energy Investor published under Mangrove Investor joins us to focus on the natural gas sector and why he thinks prices will remain constrained at generally low prices. We discuss the higher production rates in the US and how oil production directly impacts natural gas production. We ask if inflation will impact the price, longer term, and how other energy prices are impacted by cheaper natural gas. As much as we discuss lower natural gas prices in the US there are regional considerations where prices can go much higher in other countries. Matt Badiali, Editor of the New Energy letter, Published under the Mangrove Investor joins us to focus on the news out of ExxonMobil and the move into the lithium sector. This major oil producer has now stated its intention to develop a Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) process and technology. This is a potential major stepping stone for the lithium sector and will have impacts across the sector. We discuss with Matt the significance of ExxonMobil entering the lithium space especially on all the junior stocks that are developing their own DLE technology. Assuming any DLE process is developed there will be impacts on the lithium price, carried over to the cost of batteries and electric vehicles. While it's still fairly early for the development of DLE the sector is moving fast and having major oil companies starting up dedicated divisions will surly speed everything up. Matt Badiali, Editor of the New Energy letter, Published under the Mangrove Investor, joins us to recap his experience at the recent MoneyShow in Las Vegas. Matt was representing 2 resource companies and also his New Energy letter which is focused on critical minerals. It was very interesting to hear his recap of the investor sentiment toward resources and investing in resource stocks. While the Vegas show is populated by mostly traders, they currently have very little interest in resource investing. We throw out some questions and ideas on what could bring these investors into the resource sector. Click here to visit the Mangrove Investor website to keep up to date with Matt.
