Episode 3611: Kalen Bruce explains why financial success isn't just about eliminating small expenses or focusing only on major financial decisions. He argues that true conscious spending comes from understanding where every dollar goes, using budgeting and spending awareness to align daily choices with long-term financial goals. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://freedomsprout.com/conscious-spending/ Quotes to ponder: "Look, it's easy to want the best of everything: We want to go out all the time, live in a great apartment, buy new clothes, drive a new car, and travel any time we want. The truth is, you have to prioritize." "We need our kids to understand that our finances aren't determined only by big wins or only by small buys. Our financial future is based on every single choice we make." "As ugly of a word as it is, a budget is the key to conscious spending." The Strong[HER] Way | non diet approach, mindset coaching, lifestyle advice
If you've ever wondered whether your daily walk is actually doing anything for your body, this episode is going to change how you walk for good. We're breaking down Japanese walking, also known as interval walking training, a research-backed method that alternates fast and slow walking in 3-minute bursts, backed by over two decades of peer-reviewed research out of Japan.Alisha Carlson walks through what the research actually shows about blood pressure, blood sugar, leg strength, and bone density, specifically for women over 35 navigating perimenopause, PCOS, or just a body that doesn't respond to exercise the way it used to. No gym. No equipment. No more all-or-nothing thinking. Just a smarter way to walk. What you'll learn:What Japanese walking (interval walking training) actually is, and the simple protocol behind itWhy interval walking improves peak aerobic capacity and leg strength more than walking at one steady paceHow a 10 mmHg drop in blood pressure translates to a real reduction in stroke riskWhat the latest research says about interval walking and bone density in postmenopausal womenWhy cardiorespiratory fitness is one of the strongest predictors of long-term health, and how walking improves itHow to structure your own interval walking routine, including how to break it into smaller chunks if 30 minutes at once isn't realisticThe identity shift that makes a sustainable walking habit actually stickThis episode is for you if...You're a woman over 35 who wants evidence-based movement, not trendsYou're in perimenopause or postmenopause and want to know what actually supports your bones, blood sugar, and blood pressureYou walk regularly already and want to know if a small change could make it more effectiveYou have PCOS or insulin resistance and want a low-barrier way to support blood sugarYou're stuck in the all-or-nothing mindset and want a sustainable, non-diet approach to movementKey research cited:Nemoto et al. (2007), Mayo Clinic Proceedings, 82(7): high-intensity interval walking training improved physical fitness and blood pressure in middle-aged and older adults.Nemoto et al. (2019), Mayo Clinic Proceedings, 679 participants, 5-month IWT study: found a 17% reduction in lifestyle-related disease score and a 14% increase in peak aerobic capacity.Morikawa et al. (2024), PLOS One, 234 postmenopausal women: found improvements in lumbar spine and femoral neck bone density among women with lower baseline bone density.Ettehad et al. (2016), The Lancet, 123 studies, 613,815 participants: every 10 mmHg reduction in systolic blood pressure reduced stroke risk by 27%.The Strong(HER) Way isn't another fitness program, it's a transformation from the inside out. Alisha works with women who are done dieting and done starting over, helping them build a sustainable, healthy relationship with food, their bodies, and movement, without the obsession.Ready to stop starting over? Learn how business owners can apply lessons from successful companies to improve their own businesses. Haren shares his experience acquiring a company in Las Vegas, highlighting issues with leadership and suggesting ways to increase business value by reducing bureaucracy and incentivizing employees. He initially found the publicly traded micro-cap company in 2016 when it was down 99% from its high, and after launching a proxy contest in 2019, he successfully joined the board in 2019. The company faced significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic when the entire show business shut down, leading to bankruptcy by 2022, which he and his team then purchased out of bankruptcy. He identified several operational issues, including lack of website presence, poor management structure, and inadequate incentives for staff. Haren worked directly in one of their retail locations to understand the business better and implemented changes including cutting the CEO's salary and rewarding frontline staff. The pany was successfully sold to a show producer in 2023 after Haren's revival efforts.John MartinkaJessica MartinkaContact us via either website or give us a call and be sure to check out our videoshttps://nokomisadvisory.com/https://www.martinkaconsulting.com/https://www.gddpodcast.buzzsprout.comhttps://www.youtube.com/c/JohnAMartinka/videos 425-515-4903

Would You Move a Roadblock… Into Wet Cement? Wild Moments, Big Wins & Unexpected Truths You Can't Miss“What happens when you ignore a ‘Road Closed' sign… and it turns out to be freshly poured cement?” This episode of The JB and Sandy Show is packed with laugh-out-loud moments, surprising stories, and those real-life conversations that keep you hooked from start to finish. It kicks off with relatable hilarity as the crew dives into mealtime etiquette—why do we all awkwardly wait for someone else to take the first bite? And JB drops a truth bomb: “When I'm shouting that dinner's ready, you better come get your butt in the seat!”—a sentiment every home cook understands. Then, the show shifts gears with viral buzz and pop culture, featuring insights from Stephen Presley. From Ella Langley's raw, goosebump-worthy cover of a classic hit to a bold prediction that this could be “the best movie summer in a decade,” you'll get the inside scoop on what everyone will be talking about. In the wildly entertaining Care or Don't Care segment, things get unpredictable: A driver ignores a road closure and ends up stuck in wet cement (yes, really). A heated debate on child-free dining sparks some brutally honest opinions. And a morning routine “hack” gets hilariously dismissed: “I won't do it, and I won't remember it.” The heart of the episode shines through with an inspiring Austin story—after a devastating accident, a local band receives overwhelming support, raising over $170,000. It's a powerful reminder of what community really means. Plus: A lightning-fast trivia win that proves sometimes simple is genius A jaw-dropping lottery story that will have you questioning everything (“One ticket… that's it!”) A fascinating and slightly bizarre study on marriage and the phrase “my lovely wife” And real talk about parenting milestones, including the nerves that come with teaching your teen to drive: “It takes praying to a whole new level.” From humor and heartfelt moments to unexpected insights, this episode captures everything you love about JB, Sandy, and Tricia—authentic, unfiltered, and always entertaining.
On today's episode, Andy and DJ are joined by Tim Grover. They answer your questions on how to break free from comfort that's holding you back in life, how to stay driven after achieving a major goal, and how to become the person you know you're capable of being.
