In this episode Host Helen Lee interviews Dame Doria Cordova, the CEO / Owner of Excellerated Business Schools and Money & You, global organisations operating since 1979 with over 200,000 graduates from over 85 countries. Her purpose in life is to uplift humanity's consciousness through socially-responsible businesses, to teach people to create economic engines around their life purpose. Doria's organisation has already created many entrepreneurs who have produced businesses using socially responsible methods, placing the Earth and its resources and humanity at their forefront. Helen and Doria discuss her organisation of experiential, transformational and entrepreneurial education, her early career and epiphany leading to her complete change of purpose, the key figures in her career and their influence on her, the nature of the transformational training industry, the eradication of hunger and her mission. These key figures included Buckminster Fuller and Marshall Thurber. The latter is said to have been named the godfather of business and has been responsible for teaching some of the world's greatest business minds including Tony Robbins, Robert Kiyosaki and Jack Canfield through the Money & You program he created together with Bobbi DePorter. And Doria then partnered Robert Kiyosaki for 9 years to bring the program to Asia Pacific. KEY TAKEAWAYS Originally a Court Reporter working in Los Angeles and Hawaii, Dame Doria had an epiphany in 1976 which set her on a very different path. Doria, after involvement in The Hunger Project realised that her life purpose was to work towards ending world hunger and poverty on a global scale. The transformational training industry is currently worth about 100 billion a year, including all of the different facets contained within, and Doria is a key representational figure for that industry. The core of what Excellerated Business Schools and Money & You teaches helps its graduates to create a supportive economic system around their life purpose. Doria was knighted as Dame of Honor by The Sovereign Order of the Orthodox Order of St. John – Russian Grand Priory for her lifelong service to humanity. She was later advanced to Dame Commander of Grace, and then to Chancellor of the California Priory of the Order for her contribution to the growth of the Order. BEST MOMENTS ‘I was very blessed. I attended the first business school for entrepreneurs of its kind in 1978, so the business school was created in 1978 and Money and You was launched in 1979, and that's the work that I originally inherited.' – Dame Doria ‘That was when I had this sense that I had a job to do in the world and not be a party girl. Not that I was that much of a party girl but, you know, I just thought I'd spend a lot of money travelling, having fun and being a 26 year old!' – Dame Doria ‘We have a tremendous history in the industry but ultimately Marshall and Bobbi were the people that created that industry.' – Dame Doria ‘He just takes me to the most beautiful divine life that I have had. I just keep going more internal, and focusing more on love, and love and light, and letting go of everything that's fear based and anything that creates fear in other human beings.' – Dame Doria ‘Why has your program influenced and impacted so many people who are well known like Tony Robbins and was it Jack Canfield as well?” – Helen. ‘And Mark Victor Hansen, Chicken Soup for the Soul, yeah.' – Dame Doria ‘The way that I was placed in the Universe was for me to “support and lead an organisation that was going to churn out social entrepreneurs that were going to go and do good work in the world.”' – Dame Doria ‘Together, as we, ourselves, transform and thrive, we will make sure that all of humanity does so as well and we will co-create a whole new world.' – Helen ABOUT THE HOST HELEN LEE Founder & Principal Coach of Lee Heiss Coaching, Helen Lee coached thousands of clients worldwide and multinationals in Asia-Pacific in the last three decades. This week’s episode of “I HAVE TODAY” was focused on Courage. How to Find Courage to Change Your Life My guest was Ken D. Foster. Ken brings over 35 years experience in personal transformation and business development. He is a serial entrepreneur, visionary, bestselling author, keynote speaker, and syndicated radio, host of the “Voices of Courage” Show, on 116 stations in over a hundred countries. Ken has worked with, interviewed, consulted and advised celebrity clients, billionaires and bestselling authors, including Tony Robbins, Bill Bartmann, Steven MR Covey, Nick Lowery, Marci Shimoff, John Howard, Bobbi DePorter, Chris Jacob, John Assaraf, Lisa Nichols, Robert Allen, Sandra Dee Robinson, Mark Victor Hansen, Jack Canfield, Ken Honda, and many more. His new book, ‘The Courage to Change Everything” is changing how personal professional development is delivered. It is a powerful and life transforming read. Ken’s story is similar to mine, and I’m sure, like a lot of other people’s stories. Having the insight to know you’re not happy and you want to make a change is one thing. Having the courage to take the necessary leap of faith and steps to get there is another. Ken’s shares some of those powerful steps in this book, which has taken him 6 years to write! After a year of seeing a therapist, Ken’s therapist told him he couldn’t help him anymore and that he needed to listen to the voices in his head telling him to feel the pain to make the change. You've got to follow that voice. That was the voice of wisdom. And that was the voice that took him on the path of transforming his life everywhere. Some of the keys to having the courage to change everything are: You must make a commitment every single day to drip in your consciousness positive words, affirmations, the wealth principles that have been time tested for eons, and other principles that really work that can take our lives to the next level. Every day you have to have specific questions to open up the mind and point you in the right direction. Courage is a frequency. It's a thought. A lot of us have it. We're born with it. People have undeveloped courage. Some people more courageous than others. So think about this...ask this one question every day, “If I was courageous, what would I do today?” Simple question, right? But so powerful! Write it down and do it. What are you waiting for? Go for your dreams! Ken and I agree on this...it takes courage to change, and it takes courage to go after what you want. However, is there anything more rewarding in this life? Believe in seeing the unseeable. Get clear with your dream, get clear with your vision and have definite of purpose. Realize the actions that you have to take. Choose to be courageous. Ken and I talked about so many other things as well...like love, relationships, careers, money, health, and so much more. You need to tune in to the show and find out how to find the courage to change your life. Check it out! Ho'oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian Huna reconciliation process for the 'inner family' to release anger, hurt, resentment and regret. Ho’oponopono Prayer Preparation So happy that we will be sharing this prayer together! The modern version of the process was updated by the great Kahuha Morrnah Simeona. The old version had been used by the Polynesians for centuries. She passed in the early '90's. I was personally trained to lead the prayer by her and Dr. IHaleakala. There will be certain words that will be used during the prayer: Aka cords: connections/attachments. The ideal is to have no cords with anyone so that it doesn't affect your personal connection to the Great Spirit so that you can be present. Aumakua – Uhane – Unihiipili : the inner Father, Mother and the Inner Child. The Ho'oponopono Prayer is a release of resentments, upsets, anger, regrets – all negative vibrations that are being held in the subconscious and disturb your peace. A reconciliation of the inner family. Ho’oponopono means “to make things right”. Once you have done the prayer, you can say "Ho'oponopono" anytime and you will feel a lightness and a greater connection to the Great Spirit. To gain the most from the prayer, it's recommended that you write on paper (that will be torn at the end) the names, places, situations, resentments, upsets – everything that you can think of that gets in the way of your peace of mind. It's very important that you start with the names of persons that you are married to/divorced/deeply connected to; your children, closest family members, friends, business associates, addresses of all your homes, businesses – most importantly, persons that you have had intimate relations with; and persons that have passed on. List as many upsets as you can remember, specially matters around money/business/health… anything that brings up for you shame, guilt, blame, helplessness. There could a dozen plus pages. This is all good. Just writing them will begin the process of release. Bring those pages with you. During the prayer, we’ll be doing a short breathing exercise; and you’ll be asked to share your name. The rest will be done by the Divinity! Peaceful and loving… I look forward to being with you and sharing this wonderful prayer… Peace be with you… Doria (DC) Cordova http://www.DCCordova.com Here’s is a pic of the Haleakala crater, which will be mentioned in the prayer... Bobbi DePorter is president of Quantum Learning Network producing SuperCamp summer enrichment programs now with 75,000 graduates and programs in 19 countries; and Quantum Learning Education, with programs for teachers, administrators, students, and parents. QL has trained over 100,000 teachers and through these programs and the 8 Keys of Excellence movement, has impacted more than twenty million students over the last 30+ years. It all began when Bobbi studied with the renowned Bulgarian researcher Dr. Georgi Lozanov and implemented his methods into a humanistic business program which she co-founded called the Burklyn Business School. Students experienced learning as joyful and meaningful–not as they had experienced learning previously–and they wanted a similar experience for their children. This led to SuperCamp, teaching unique learning and life skills to teenagers in a fun, dynamic way. Along with Stedman Graham, Bobbi is the co-founder of CAYS Community Alliance for Youth Success. She is the author of over a dozen books including recently released Excellence in Teaching and Learning: The Quantum Learning System. Bobbi is the recipient of the San Diego Women of Influence Lifetime Legacy award, the Global Presence Humanitarian Award from Parenting 2.0; and was on Fast Company Magazines Fast 50 list of leading creative thinkers. What you’ll learn about in this episode: How ordinary men and women can become extraordinary business owners How to teach children and young adults how to learn The importance of providing children with a good education when it comes to personal finances. How to encourage children to find their own voice in the world and feel confident and good about themselves How to engage students, connect with them, and provide them with a safe and nurturing environment that encourages them to participate The importance of reminding students to practice the skills they have learned and apply it to all aspects of their life How students will feel safe to participate in the world once they know who they are, where they stand, their principles and values, and what’s truly important to them. Students need to develop a strong core and allow this core to guide them How to find true fulfillment and passion comes from serving others with one’s work The importance of focusing on people and the dollars to make money Ways to contact Bobbi: Website: www.SuperCamp.com
For teachers, creating a dynamic environment of joy with students can make all the difference. This is what Bobbi DePorter of the Quantum Learning Network realized after years of research. Teachers graduate university with a set of expectations and goals for the learning environment they'll create. Yet when they get into the classroom, the real world is often different. It's an academic tragedy. For example, the students just don't engage and participate as visualized. Now, through the Quantum Learning Network, teachers are trained in how to create that positive environment of joy so students can love learning. Bobbi DePorter is president of Quantum Learning Network, which produces SuperCamp summer enrichment programs now with 78,000 graduates and programs in 19 countries; and Quantum Learning Education (QL), with programs for teachers, administrators, students and parents. QL has trained over 100,000 teachers and through these programs and the 8 Keys of Excellence movement, has impacted more than twenty million students over the last 30+ years for their children. Their programs teach unique learning and life skills to teenagers in a fun, dynamic way. Get the newest Conscious PIVOT Podcast episodes delivered directly to you - subscribe here.
