Sponsor Link:To grab our special money saving NordVPN deal - Click HereIn today's episode, Anna and Avery cover a blue whale-sized asteroid making a close pass of Earth today, the imminent debut of SpaceX's most powerful rocket yet, NASA's Psyche spacecraft successfully completing its Mars gravity assist, fresh science arriving at the ISS, a new physics paper challenging the simulation hypothesis at its foundations, and Congress pushing back hard against proposed cuts to NASA's science budget. Story 1 — Asteroid 2026 JH2 Newly discovered asteroid 2026 JH2 (first spotted 10 May 2026) makes a close Earth flyby today at ~90,000 km — within the orbital radius of many satellites. Estimated size: up to ~35 metres (blue whale-sized). Zero impact risk confirmed. Observable with binoculars at peak magnitude ~11.5. Live stream available via the Virtual Telescope Project. Orbital period: 3.7 years between Earth and Jupiter. Story 2 — Starship V3 / Flight 12 SpaceX targets May 19, 2026 for the debut of Starship Version 3 (Flight 12) from Pad 2 at Starbase, Texas. Launch window opens 6:30 PM EDT. Key upgrades: Raptor 3 engines (250 tf SL thrust, up from 230 tf), three larger grid fins, new integrated hot-stage design, updated propellant systems. No tower catch on this flight; booster splashes in Gulf of Mexico. Upper stage (Ship 39) targets Indian Ocean after 65 minutes. Payload: 22 Starlink simulator satellites. Critical step toward Artemis lunar landings. Story 3 — NASA Psyche Mars Flyby On 15 May 2026 at 3:28 PM EDT, Psyche completed its Mars gravity assist at 4,500 km altitude travelling at 12,333 mph. Passed inside the orbits of both Martian moons. Confirmed by Doppler shift monitoring. Mission: en route to metal-rich asteroid 16 Psyche (arrival July 2029). Thousands of Mars observations gathered for science calibration. Story 4 — SpaceX CRS-34 SpaceX's 34th Dragon cargo mission docked at ISS at 6:37 AM EDT on 17 May 2026, delivering ~6,500 lb of cargo for Expedition 74. Science payloads include: microgravity simulator validation study, wood-based bone scaffold (osteoporosis research), red blood cell/spleen spaceflight study. Dragon will return to Earth mid-June splashing down off California coast. Story 5 — Simulation Hypothesis Paper Paper: ‘Non-algorithmic physics and the limits of the simulation hypothesis', published in the Journal of Holography Applications in Physics. Authors: Mir Faizal (UBC Okanagan), Lawrence Krauss, Arshid Shabir, Francesco Marino. Core argument: using Gödel's incompleteness theorems, the team argues any theory of quantum gravity would be non-algorithmic — containing truths no computation can capture. Since any simulation requires algorithms, reality cannot be fully simulated. Note: this is a theoretical paper, not an experimental result. The authors acknowledge no complete quantum gravity theory currently exists. Story 6 — NASA FY2027 Budget House Appropriations Committee approved $24.438 billion for NASA in FY2027 — matching FY2026 and rejecting the White House's proposed $18.8 billion (a 23% cut). The proposal would have cut the Science Mission Directorate by 46%, terminating 50+ missions. Committee protects science, Habitable Worlds Observatory, and STEM education funding. Bill still needs Senate passage and reconciliation. Skywatching TONIGHT — Moon-Venus conjunction: look west after sunset for the crescent Moon close to brilliant Venus. Earthshine visible on dark lunar limb. Southern Hemisphere: look west-northwest, best in first hour after sunset. Blue Moon on 31 May (second full Moon of the month). -The show opens with presidential trolling at 10,000 feet, as Marine One buzzes a sparsely attended May Day protest—proving nothing says “message received” like a low-flying helicopter and a crowd you can count on one hand. -A passionate segment contrasts political chaos with real heroism, highlighting a police officer who talks a man off a bridge—reminding listeners that while Washington argues, everyday Americans quietly save lives. -Hollywood and media take a hit as the show calls out bias, spotlights a viral anti-establishment mayoral ad, and debates whether modern entertainment has traded humor for hostility (spoiler: the verdict is not flattering). What we're hearing across all sectors of agriculture is that having a reliable workforce remains a number one challenge today. Karen Gefvert, chief policy officer for Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative and Voice of Milk, says it’s an issue the organization is deeply engaged in. In talking with Stephanie Hoff, Gefvert notes that this has been a 40-year battle. She says the current system doesn't work for dairy. Dairy farmers need an entry-level workforce. The only program that can address that is H2A, but dairy is prohibited from using it.Not much moisture in the latest forecast from Stu Muck. Temperatures remain on track for the last few days of October. Muck also notes a statewide FFA Foundation Auction that's happening now.Knowing a company's origins and roots can help explain how they do business. Pam Jahnke talks with Ashley Huhn about how the Steffes Group actually got started, and why they take pride in creating their own systems not just relying on third party services to handle business. Paid for by Steffes Group.Wisconsin dairy farmer, John Rosenow, has been a vocal proponent of immigration reform for decades. His dairy operation in the Waumandee Valley of western Wisconsin relies heavily on immigrant labor. Rosenow has joined a newly formed coalition called "Grow It Here" that's trying to advance meaningful immigration reform for agriculture. Rosenow says of his 18 full-time workers, 13 are from Mexico. Today's H2A visas don't work for dairy. The market's feeling more optimistic today after a weekend full of trade announcements out of SE Asia. John Heinberg, market advisor with Total Farm Marketing in West Bend tells Pam Jahnke that it's good news for corn, soybean meal, pork and beef. There's also still a buzz about potential trade developments with China. Still the gorilla in the room according to Heinberg.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Harland kicks things off by reminiscing about fingering calamari and the first time someone touched his arse—with a thermometer. Tom shares the traumatic moment he had to show a friend his infamously hairy sphincter... and yes, he ends up showing Harland too. Surprisingly, the conversation spirals into absurd territory with erotic drawings, smut searches, fart-catching attempts, a Dominican dick flash, and a deep dive into Enny's alleged fondness for buttholes. Harland doesn't disappoint either—he reacts to fart videos, tells a story about dating Madonna, and looks forward to tanning with Tom. The two also talk about creativity, recreational drugs, Harland's distrust of nicotine pouches, the anthems of both Canada and Texas, plus playing doctor, and horseshoes with neck pillows. Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Diplomatic reporter Lazar Berman joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's Daily Briefing. The White House says that it supports Israel’s decision to delay releasing 600 Palestinian prisoners, citing the “barbaric treatment” of Israeli hostages by Hamas. At the same time, we’re hearing for the first time from US President Donald Trump’s Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff that he will come to the region this week to try and negotiate an extension of the first phase of the ceasefire and hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas, which is supposed to conclude at the end of the week with the return of four additional bodies of hostages. Berman updates us on the current status of the talks. Yesterday, Israeli tanks deployed to the West Bank for the first time in over 20 years and Defense Minister Israel Katz said he had instructed the IDF to stay for at least the next year in West Bank refugee camps that have been cleared of terror operatives and civilians, and not allow some 40,000 displaced Palestinians to return. Does the IDF have the manpower for such an operation? Tens of thousands of black-clad mourners vowed support for the Hezbollah terror group Sunday at the Beirut funeral of slain leader Hassan Nasrallah, after the group was dealt major blows in its last round of hostilities with Israel. As the funeral began at the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium, Lebanon’s biggest sports arena, Israeli warplanes flew at a low altitude over Beirut. What was Israel's message with this fly over? Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a “warm conversation” last night with Friedrich Merz, the presumptive German chancellor after his CDU/CSU came first in the German elections yesterday. But the standout saga from these elections is the surge in support for far-right anti-immigration party AfD, which took a historic second place among the electorate. Berman weighs in. On the eve of the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky has faced fierce criticism from the new US administration, leading Zelensky to offer to quit his post if it would mean that Ukraine could join NATO. Publicity stunt or authentic plea? Please see today's ongoing live blog for more updates. The Beyhive is buzzin' over Beyoncé's new perfume! Plus, some say the 'Real Housewives of Potomac' season 8 taglines are lackluster, and a viral list of places women won't go on a first date sparks a #DishDebate!
It is a pleasure to welcome Blake's Buzz founder, Blake Morgan, to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Blake owns and produces Blake's Buzz, a review outlet, podcast, and YouTube channel. For the last two years, he's been covering indie comics and interviewing their creators. Recently, he began working in comic book PR and marketing and helped numerous creators find their audience. Blake is taking on new clients and being the publicist for Invader Comics and Wolven Press. He is also the Marketing Manager at Metal Ninja Studios, a RINGO-nominated production company. I was thrilled to meet with Blake in the VIP line at Planet Comicon 2023. We had lightning-in-a-bottle chemistry, and I truly enjoyed speaking with him about life in Kansas City and our love of comics. In this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Blake Morgan spoke about developing his brand and his conversations with iconic comic book creators David Mack (Daredevil interior artwork), Patrick Gleason (Batman & Robin, Green Lantern Corps, and The Amazing Spider-Man artist), and Paul Cornell (Action Comics, Captain Britain & MI: 13, Demon Knights, Doctor Who, and Wolverine writer).
Loaded with attractions such as bacon pecan pie on a stick, dairy cows, a tractor pull, and presidential candidates, the Iowa State Fair truly offers something for everyone.Over a million visitors are expected this year for the annual fair, which runs Aug. 10-20, so it's a magnet for presidential hopefuls ahead of Iowa's Republican presidential caucuses Jan. 15.Presidential candidates “know that this is a place that they need to come in order to socialize with the Iowa voter, answer very hard questions coming from those Iowa voters, and it really sets the stage as we ramp up towards those January caucuses,” Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, tells The Daily Signal.Voters in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina traditionally go first in casting their ballots during primary season, so it's no surprise that politicians spend time in all three states.Iowan voters “hope that we can get our country back on track” following the Biden administration, Ernst says.“What we see with this president is a president who appeases our adversaries all around the globe,” Ernst says. “It's a president who has focused so far left on green ideology and climate ideology that he's hurting middle America. They just want to trample over the American people and do whatever he wants to do regardless of the consequences.”Iowa's junior senator joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” from the State Fair to discuss the visiting GOP presidential candidates and the effects on voters of the four indictments of former President Donald Trump.Enjoy the show! Worry, angst, malaise, the blahs, questioning--these states overtake all of us at some point, often when we're navigating some kind of transition, or wondering if it's time to make one. And while these moments can be uncomfortable–particularly because of the uncertainty that they bring with them–they are key, pivotal times in our lives. You know, the kind of thing you want to be present for, and bring your best thinking to. So today I'm sharing two powerful things to do to help you get some clarity and gain access to your wiser thoughts INSTEAD OF (or before) reaching for your favorite little helper for numbing out. I mean, hey, there's a time and a place for everything. Do one of these two things and THEN pour yourself a glass of wine. Studies: Review of multiple studies that found an increase in meaning, purpose, and positive affect in the presence of nature Study that found that exposure to nature (in person or via video) helped people reflect on life problems Study that found walking in nature or watching a video of walking in nature to make students more cooperative and better able to see the bigger picture. Now that marijuana is legal in many states, it's no longer a sneaky little secret–but does that mean it's time to go full Cheech & Chong?? Today I'm interviewing Lizzie Post, great-great-granddaughter of American etiquette expert Emily Post, copresident of the Emily Post Institute, cohost of the Awesome Etiquette podcast. and author of the book Higher Etiquette: a Guide to the World of Cannabis. I asked Emily things like: Now that cannabis is legal, what's the etiquette around using it socially? How do you open up a conversation about cannabis, or should we keep in mind when it comes up among friends, family, co-workers? How about cannabis and kids if you're a parent? And more! Is alcohol good for you or bad for you? Well…it's both. On one hand, red wine is part of the Mediterranean Diet, widely heralded as one of the healthiest eating styles in the world. On the other, alcohol is a neurotoxin and can be awfully high sugar and carb. Today, I'm sharing three aspects of drinking that, with a little bit of awareness, you can use to minimize the negative effects of drinking. Week two of Vacation Vault June is yet another GREAT show! Amateur beekeeper Missy Burgess joined the Lounge in April of 2021, and the guys loved hanging out with her! We all learned more about bees, even after thinking we knew what there was to know about them! We've had multiple guests reference this episode, and the feedback from it, when talking to listeners, made it VERY apparent it needed to be included in this special month of June! So, sit back, relax, and enjoy going back to April of 2021, and hearing our hangout with, amateur beekeeper, Missy Burgess!ORIGINAL SHOW NOTES:The guys were all abuzz for this week's show! Amateur beekeeper and singer, Missy Burgess joined the guys in the Lounge! Sam teased Missy's hang-out with a story she told his wife, at work! It was an amazingly funny story, and enlightening that even bees do this too! WHO WOULD'VE thought! They then jump into what brought her into beekeeping! The answer might not be what you think. Just how amazing are bees? What happens when a hive isn't flourishing? What if a hive loses its queen? How much of what bees produce is something that can be used by humans? IS HONEY JUST BEE VOMIT?! ALL these questions get answered! What about mating?! How often does mating happen, and exactly where does the "moment" happen? Do the male bees tend to the babies? Yep, these get answered too! From bee classes to getting the bees and putting them in boxes, Missy tells us ALL ABOUT getting into the bee business! The guys talked to Missy ONE DAY before getting the year's bees! Missy talks about how many bees they get when they arrive, and she also talks about how they are shipped! She then talks about the harvesting of the honey, and the process THEY go through getting the honey! What an amazing and un-bee-lievable show! Missy was fantastic, and the guys are interested in going and seeing the hive! It's amazing hearing all these fantastic things about bees, and hearing Missy talk about how she loves keeping bees! SO, sit back, relax & #grabalisten!SPECIAL NOTE:There are a few portions of the show where we reference the video or Missy shows us something to do with the hive. Because of that, we released the video on YouTube!
