The crisis in Ukraine feels to many like the straw that broke the camel's back. Between the COVID pandemic, police brutality, the climate crisis, and now the war in Ukraine, the world may feel increasingly unsafe. Very young children, though, actually respond more to their adults' distress than to the tragic events themselves. That said, repeated media exposure of horrific events can sometimes lead to PTSD in kids who do not experience the tragedies themselves. This week, Gene and Khadijah discuss the important work of protecting our young people from the very real conflict they are witnessing in the media, and hearing about at school and at home. Whether you have friends and family in Ukraine, know someone who does, or are simply a concerned global citizen, this week's episode covers how to help kids of all ages manage the devastation, while taking care of yourself, too.Tune in for this pressing episode. Part 2 of my conversation with Wayne Hare, founder of The Civil Conversations Project.  Where Part 1 focused on Wayne's personal history and racial awakening, Part 2 focuses on some of the more over-arching themes and consequences of racial division, such as the physical and emotional toll it takes on the human body and how to reconcile the history of a country not always as noble in deed as in word.  We also discuss his work through the Civil Conversations Project:  what prompted its founding and what he hope to achieve.

Part 1 of a conversation of being black in America with Wayne Hare, founder of the Civil Conversations Project.  Wayne's story is living proof that no group of people - black, white or otherwise - is monolithic and that eradicating racial inequality involves a process of recognizing the almost undetectable socialization that prolongs it.

This week, we take the Millennial factor to the max. We're excited to welcome three Millennials from agriculture, to talk about where they're standing politically as we barrel towards November 3. Dan Lotspeich joins us as a produce grower from northeastern Nevada. A registered Republican, he describes himself as a reluctant but strident Biden voter. Leah Pratt grew up in a conservative household in California, and now is a registered Democrat in rural Idaho. Dustin Cooksey comes to us from row crop production in northeastern Colorado, and is planning to vote for President Trump. These three millennials in ag come together for – wait for it – CIVIL CONVERSATION centered around the United States' upcoming elections. They discuss policy differences, how they've come to their decisions, and perhaps most importantly, showcase that we're only as divided as we allow ourselves to be. This civilized discussion is something we're incredibly proud to bring you this fall, and encourage anyone who's feeling especially discouraged by the discourse in our country right now to tune in. This episode will give you hope. Follow Millennial Ag online: www.millennialag.com www.facebook.com/millennialag www.instagram.com/millennial_ag www.twitter.com/millennial_ag

As difficult conversations about race, income inequality, and public health continue across the globe, we wanted to bring you an episode that highlights a unique aspect of this moment in time: digitalization. Social platforms have shown immense potential in raising donations and disseminating of crucial, often overlooked, information. However, when navigating online these days, a question still remains: how can we progress conversations about controversial topics instead of regressing to mere ad hominem? Our guest this week is Aaron Golbin, a 16-year-old entrepreneur who has been featured in Forbes and Inc. He founded Debateisland.com, a leading online debate platform that leverages artificial intelligence to revolutionize the online debate experience. DebateIsland's Debra AI can predict winners of debates, tells users what their political affiliation would be, provides in depth analytics of arguments, and weeds out “uncivil arguments” from posts.
