It's Water World week on Dad Movies! We explore Kevin Costner's oddest act of cinematic hubris; a post-apocalyptic samurai movie about a man with gills. Dad gets sassy, John-Michael realizes no one likes this movie but him, and we dig into the family past a bit. Dive in, the water is warm, but riffs are hot. If you got the wrong download when you first listened try again.
It's a very special episode of Dad Movies with special guest Emily Effler! Em is John-Michael's wife and a brilliant tattoo artist, but most importantly, she's got a sharp mind for movie criticism. Join us this week as we tackle Edge of Tomorrow, the greatest live action anime film not based on an anime! We talk love, destiny, and how marriage is like dying and coming back to life over and over to learn new lessons.
This week on Dad Movies, the Bonds cover Bond. Join us for a loving talk about action, what makes the perfect Bond, and understandable horror about that torture sequence. It's another great episode of Dad Movies, shaken, not stirred.
Jordan and Don thought an episode about DAD movies would be a fun 30 minute episode. To the shock of no one and especially themselves they went an hour. They talk about Nicolas Cage, sports movies, and all the crying inbetween. Don is sorry he swears too much. Find us on @isceneitpod on Twitter Jordan@jordanwermager Don@WojoDuke. JMB has no voice this week, but if you could give us a minute, we have a special request. Back next week with Casino Royal!
This week on Dad Movies Bill and JMB watch Casablanca and argee its one of the best movies ever made. Then they disagree about everything else. It's one of the funniest episodes we've ever done so pour yourself a beer, punch a nazi, and settle in for Dad Movies
This week on Dad Movies we tackle 2003's Master and Commander: Far Side of the World. Bill and JMB have wildly different opinions on this maritime classic. We tackle the quiet of war, why it's hard to make friends as an adult, what it means to love a friend, and why men need friends. Trigger warning: We talk about a suicide that happens in the film. Nothing graphic but some listeners have let us know they like a warning.
This week on Dad movies, Bill's selected Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, a film that asks the question, "what if Oceans 11 had guns and a talking raccoon?" We go deep on loss, character building, why mix tapes matter, and the idea that everybody has dead people. Somehow, it's still funny. Join us for this week's episode of Dad Movies.
We're back from hiatus and diving back in with a big one, Pixar's The Incredibles. Join us for a discussion about Dads and depression, superheroes, marriage during hard times, and a crazy theory about Edna and Violet in this episode of Dad Movies.
CJ Johnson shares his favourite Dad Movies of all time.
This week we celebrate 52 episodes of Dad Movies with Bull Durham, the sexiest movie I remember seeing as a kid. We talk about what makes a great baseball movie, romance, philosophy, and Dad comes out as bisexual for Kevin Costner. Don't miss this week's Dad Movies.
This week we're tackling Jaws, which is either a horror movie or an adventure depending on which host you ask. We talk Jaws insane PG rating, drunk sailer stories, and riff up a storm. Chum the waters, it's shark week.
This week JMB tries to make Dad fall in love with one of his favorite films, Dead Head. Joe Piscopon and Treat Williams star in this gore-filled buddy cop comedy, but what wins over Bill is the jaw-dropping special effects. Join us for a talk about cops, zombie cow puppets, and more on this week's Dad Movies.
Dad Movies is back after a brief hiatus with Michael Bay's low budget masterpiece Ambulance. This week we're joined by tattoo artist, Ambulance fan, and all-around joy Emily Effler. This week on End Credits, we get into Father's Day a little early with a pick that might well be classified as a "Dad Movie." From the less-than-well-known annals of the Second World War, we'll be reviewing the new spy drama Operation: Mincemeat. Along with that, we're going to talk about some other good war movies with our very special crossover guest host. This Wednesday, May 18, at 3 pm, Adam A. Donaldson and guest co-host Scotty Hertz will discuss: War! What is it Good For? Movies!! This week's movie pick takes us back to World War II, a time and place that science tells us is the setting for 18 per cent of all movies released every year. Before talking about this war movie, we're going to talk about our other favourite war movies including a submarine tale, a heist in the middle of the first Gulf War, and two star-studded vintage "Dad Movies" from the 60s that you can probably already guess the titles of. REVIEW: Operation: Mincemeat (2022). Sicily was the "soft underbelly" of Europe, and everyone knew it. The Nazis would be ready for any attempt by the Allies to land on its shores, and the causalities would be immense. The effort to take back Europe may well have been over before it started. So what did British Intelligence do? They made up battle plans to invade Greece, and they made up an officer to "accidentally" deliver them to the Hitler. The story is retold again in Netflix's Operation: Mincemeat, but is this a mission that you should accept? End Credits is on CFRU 93.3 fm and cfru.ca Wednesday at 3 pm.
Josh has terrible taste in movies. Steve has terrible taste in movies. Which is true? Both? None? All? Some? You'll see ... won't you?

This week's selection is perhaps our strangest yet, Steven King's Maximum Overdrive. Dad was asked to cover this by a client, and we're diving head first into every bloody moment. It's a b-movie blood bath that John-Michael thinks deserves more love on this week's episode of Dad Movies.

Welcome back to Dad Movies. This week we tackle The Untouchables, a movie about corrupt cops learning just how far they'll go to stop people from doing what they themselves want to do. It's a hilarious journey through trivia and JMB's feelings about cops. Plus we talk a little about actors who only win Acadamy Awards for playing themselves. Join us and share.
It's Saving Private Ryan week and boy howdy does this one get weird. A few years ago, John-Michael swore he'd never watch a movie that made him sad twice. This week he breaks that promise for one of the best war movies ever made. We talk the ethics of war movies, gore effects, and if the film glorifies war. Join us for a hilarious and sometimes odd episode of Dad Movies.
We're hitting Mission Impossible this week and boy howdy is it claustrophobic. Join us for a Brian De Palma love fest where we discuss arguably the smallest, most cramped, big-budget action film of all time. Where do we stand on Tom Cruise as an alien cult leader and people who think this movie doesn't have a plot? Find out on this week's episode of Dad Movies.
We're back from our Christmas/sick people break with the first Dad Movies of 2022! This week we tackle Highlander, a graphically violent, occasionally very sexual, fairy tale about immortals who cut off each other's heads for magic power. Somehow Dad managed to avoid seeing this movie for 35 years, but finally, his life is complete.
It's the Dad Movie's Thanksgiving special with Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. We gush over a beloved classic before taking a right turn into philosophical comedy talk. What makes something a comedy, and is Planes, Trains, and Automobiles the funniest drama of all time? Or is it a comedy with brilliant dramatic moments? Find out on this week's very special episode of Dad Movies.
Can you believe we're already back for another final episode? Neither can we! But we got so so many requests over the years to have John Michael back, how could we say no? This week on Dad Movies we explore the phenomenon of movies we love that age oddly with Norm Macdonald's Dirty Work. Both the guys remember this film fondly from the 90s, but boy howdy was it made in a different world. We talk about what it gets right, the importance of acknowledging the warts on art we love, and laugh a lot about pranks.

With Father's Day coming this weekend, we're discussing some of our favorite movies about Dear Ol' Dad in our latest Top 3. Which movies made the cut?
Our Too Fast Fast and Furious watch-through is nearing its end with part 7, Furious 7. With only two more movies too go we get surprisingly emotional because this movie combines machine gun buses with true love truth bombs. Hear John-Michael tear up for real, learn why we both love Dom way more than we thought, and learn the answer of where this film made Dad cry. You will be surprised. It's a surprisingly emotional episode of Dad Movies this week. Lean in.
After the barn-burning joy that was Tokyo Drift we've returned to sunny California for Fast & Furious, the Fast and the Furious Part 4. JMB thinks this movie is subtle even with all the exploding trucks and Dad still misses Han. But the real question is, does the Reverend Bond still enjoy these movies? Find out on this week's episode of Dad Movies.
Apologies if the last few episodes have cut off suddenly. We're working to fix it. Here's an update, everything should work perfect now.

It's a wild western set in Miami's car culture and Dad has questions. Theme song by Luke Bentham of The Dirty Nil. Please like, subscribe, and review if you enjoy the podcast.

We talk seeing the original in 1995, the difference between fun gore and traumatizing gore, and Dad somehow manages to work the philosophy of Carl Jung into the conversation. This is also the first episode with our new theme song from Luke Bentham of The Dirty Nil. My god did he do a great job. As always, find us on iTunes and give us a 5-star review or just follow us on Spotify. It helps us in the rankings.
