In honor of father's day, I wanted to share some of the best advice I've received from my dad over the years, and how we can all work to apply it in life and in business. For the sake of background, dad is a chemical engineer — he spent decades of his career at one company — but still had lots of entrepreneurial experiences and insights along the way. (He did do a bit of consulting in retirement!) The funny thing is almost all of these were very literal conversations, which I've extrapolated out (30 years later!) to have a broader meaning. And as I think about the kind of advice I want to be passing along to my own kids, I think these kinds of concrete illustrations may be a really effective way to do it. Especially if they turn out to be the over-analyzing types like me! Full Show Notes: Best Dad Advice: 10 Life and Business Lessons from Dad New to the Show? Life & Listings: Balancing Real Estate, Scaling Your Future w/ Jennifer Staats
In this episode of the Life and Listing Podcast, Eirik Davey-Gislason joins me in a conversation about the importance of real estate agents, particularly buyer's agents, developing a strong and clear value proposition to effectively serve their clients in a shifting market. Our discussion highlights the need for agents to differentiate themselves by understanding and articulating their unique value, especially in a competitive environment where many agents might lower their commissions. Eirik shares his unique insights from nearly 20 years in the industry, discussing how agents can effectively communicate their value, the importance of personalized service, and strategic negotiation skills. Don't miss out on this enriching episode! Tune in to learn how to elevate your real estate business and navigate the challenges of a shifting market with confidence. “That was the wisdom that the misunderstanding a lot of buyers had is that somehow they're going to get a better deal by going directly to the listing agent. Well, if we decouple commissions or when we decouple commissions, because we have, now all of a sudden, there's gonna be less of that behavior, if it's true listing agents are not going to be as incentivized to try to keep both sides of the deal, because there may not be another side of the deal. So now it may be more beneficial to a listing agent to actually have a competent agent on the other side of the deal, so that they can share the work. And I think that that's something that we're not really talking about a lot.”- Eirik Davey-Gislason In episode 30, let's talk about: Understanding and effectively communicating your unique value is crucial for success in the real estate market. Tailoring your services to meet the specific needs and preferences of each client can significantly enhance client satisfaction and loyalty. Developing and honing negotiation skills is essential for securing favorable deals for clients and establishing yourself as a trusted advisor. Staying flexible and adapting your strategies to the changing market conditions can help you maintain a competitive edge. Drawing on nearly 20 years of industry experience, Eric emphasizes the value of continuous learning and applying expert knowledge to solve client challenges. Clear and consistent communication with clients helps build trust and ensures that their needs are understood and addressed effectively. We need to be effective first, and then efficient second. In this solo episode, I discuss how we can be effective in our practice. It's time to reset your long-time patients. In this episode, Meredith and I discuss the use of code D0150, which is typically applied to new patients but can also benefit those who have been with the practice for an extended period. Updating records comes at a cost of $20 per patient, and conducting this every 3-5 years can significantly boost earnings. Moreover, it offers patients the opportunity to review their progress and identify changes over time. Implementing this strategy may pose challenges, but it ultimately simplifies the role of the treatment coordinator.
