In this episode, we discuss the importance of protein timing, protein and carb intake on muscle building and the role of beer in the dawn of civilisation. Sleep researcher, writer and international speaker Greg Potter, PhD is with us once again to continue our conversation about improving your sleep. In my last interview with Greg, we discussed practical steps to take when sleep eludes you, as well as preventing sleep problems in the first place. We’ve circled back around today to take a closer look at some of the most promising interventions for insomnia as well as special considerations for athletes with regard to sleep. In this interview, Greg describes Sleep Restriction Therapy and Intensive Sleep Retraining in detail, two approaches to fixing insomnia that sound counterintuitive at first but which can pay off quickly with more restful sleep. Greg talks about mindfulness and meditation, sharing tips for using these practices to reduce insomnia and overall stress. Christine talks with pastor Greg Gilbert about how we can discover grace, let go of guilt, and rest with great assurance in our salvation. He helps us discover the why behind our service and what it means to actually serve by faith rather than from a place of guilt. This is a gospel-rich episode! Christine and Greg cover everything from doubting our salvation, wondering if we've committed what the Bible says is the unpardonable sin, worries about losing our salvation, and finding ourselves driven more by "shoulds" than the actual gospel. From overseas professional basketball player to full-time pastor at The Rock Church in San Diego, this mentor and motivational speaker travels extensively around the world, letting his “God-brilliance” shine forth. Greg Hendricks describes himself as a man who loves God, loves his family, and loves connecting people with what God wants to do so they can thrive on their journeys. Greg grew up without a father, being raised by a single mom, but had an early awareness of God, even though church was not part of his life. He found sports, secured a college scholarship, and lived the typical “party” lifestyle until he met his wife---after praying to God to send her his way. A shift occurred when Greg met the Lord and submitted to His plan, even though being a pastor wasn’t anywhere on his radar. In today’s show, Greg shares what he has learned about being obedient, faithful, exploring God, and finding His goodness. He explains how he is learning to pursue God, helping people grasp their identity in Christ, and watching God “turn their messes into masterpieces.” Greg says, “Be passionate about the journey, because that’s where the gold is!” Join us for more about Greg’s inspiring story of God’s mercy and grace at work! What a truly exceptional man we have on the show this week – you will never hear a more salient and inspiring business commentator. His story actually speaks for itself, but there’s a whole lot more on offer in this conversation. Greg has set up his own business and successfully sold the franchise; he’s worked in residential lending and structured funding, and now he spends his time being the go-to man for CEOs who are looking to raise substantial investment to grow their business. Greg is particularly revered for somehow raising $120m for an animated film, The Legends Of Oz: Dorothy’s Return. Not only was this the first time anyone in Hollywood had pulled this off, but Greg managed to do this despite telling each investor that they’d stand to lose money! See below for some of Greg’s unbelievable insight: ** Raising money is a good way of building teams. If you’re going to grow something you can’t do it alone. ** If you’re going to grow, you have to be prepared to keep changing your mindset. ** Embrace chaos. If you don’t, you won’t grow. ** It isn’t all about the money. Most people invest for the primary reason that the investment would have a meaningful impact on their life. ** Are you more interested in what you’re doing, or who you’re doing it with? If it’s the latter, then you’re set up to achieve the ‘impossible’ like Greg. In this episode of Business Brain Food you will learn: ** Bootstrapping V funding a business ** Greg’s amazing story ** How Greg was involved in the digital projection of Michael Jackson ** What prevents businesses from scaling ** How Greg raised an ‘impossible’ amount of money ** The secret to good leadership Resources mentioned in this episode: ** Ben’s Business Advice: http://www.maxmyprofit.com.au ** Find Greg on his website: http://www.gregcentineo.com ** Greg’s must-read books with Amazon buy links: Howard Schultz - Pour your heart into it; Walter Isaacson - Einstein: His life and the universe; Walter Isaacson - Steve Jobs: The Exclusive Biography ** The Business Brain Food Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/businessbrainfood ** All previous BBF episodes & show notes can be found at http://www.businessbrainfood.com.au ** Twitter: https://twitter.com/bfewtrell Call to action: It’s so difficult to pick one bit of wisdom above all the others to end with, but we’ll go with this from Greg: “You can do good things by yourself, but you’ll never accomplish anything great alone". Also, if you are enjoying these Business Brain Food podcasts, then make sure to share them via social media sites or email the links to family and friends. A lot of time and effort goes into producing each of these podcasts with the goal in mind of the more people we can inspire about business the better. You can help us do just that! Until next time, have a profitable day! Cheers, Ben Fewtrell (02) 9111 5000

For the annual Liferay Retreat, I was in L.A. again and took the opportunity to record several new episodes - this one as a nice fireside chat - the first one with a live audience, though they have not been interacting too much - just been in the same room :) In this session I talked with Greg Amerson, the author of Liferay's development tooling. This is one of the first recordings on new gear, unfortunately levelling was not ideal, so it had to significantly be amplified and denoised - bringing some drawbacks in audio quality, mainly noise despite the denoising, but you'll be able to stand it - promised. Also, I hoped to get this out before the holiday season, unfortunately this didn't work out that well for various reasons - Sorry for that, you'll get your late christmas wishes in this episode. Among other topics we talked about: * Greg got his exposure to Eclipse Tooling from being one of the first people to work on the MyEclipse product * The distincion between Liferay IDE (for Liferay CE) and Liferay Developer Studio (for Liferay EE) * The impressive size of the team to have worked on Liferay Tooling until now and from now on. * Greg's current location: Working from the China Office and how he got from Texas to China and the future plans. * The story how Greg found Liferay (you have to hear this - you might even learn your first words in Mandarin) * The difference the IDE support made in Developer Training - and what ideas he and the team have in addition of the current features (please provide feedback on what you expect from developer tooling) * Some of the ideas: Maven, personal templates, Marketplace, remote deployment and debugging * A vision for the stability of Liferay's plugin environment You'll find this episode - and make sure that you don't miss any of the future episodes - by subscribing to http://feeds.feedburner.com/RadioLiferay with your favourite podcatcher. You can also subscribe on itunes.: Just search for "Radio Liferay" or just "Liferay" in the podcast directory. Find Greg as @greg_amerson, me as @olafk or my Alter Ego for just this program as @RadioLiferay on twitter. Something else... Radio Liferay now has its own landing page at www.liferay.com/radio. So if you want to recommend this podcast to somebody, this is where you should point them to. Also, I'd like to get more of your feedback: Do you feel this is valuable? Whereever you get the podcast - if there's an opportunity to rate it please do so - e.g. itunes currently does not have enough votes to display an average . Also, please provide feedback to the episodes so that I can balance the next topics and adjust them a bit more to your interest. You can do that on my blog or on twitter. I do have a long list of community contributors that I'll contact in the next weeks to prepare some more recordings and mix them with the Liferay Employees as this whole program is not purely about the company people. Feel free to suggest more interviewees and topics though. Thank you!
