The Left is labeling people on the Right as anti-government. I want to use the language of the Left and make the case that being anti-government is logical and reasonable. I also make a special plea to my friends on the Right about the idea of America and why it is so badly needed today. In this podcast episode, I have a really powerful discussion with Molly Galbraith! Ten years ago, Molly founded Girls Gone Strong. According to Molly, it started as a simple Facebook Page, and has now evolved into the world’s largest platform providing evidence-based, interdisciplinary health, fitness, nutrition and pregnancy information for women and the professionals that work with them. For the last seventeen years, Molly’s collected insight from her community about things like scarcity mindset — where women feel like the success of other women is leaving less success for them, or that they don’t amount to the same success. She says women have more opportunity and power than ever, yet there’s still a really big gap. Her platform is all about learning to love ourselves, learning to lift other women up, and learning how to acknowledge negative feelings within ourselves and how to change them. Molly wrote a book called Strong Women Lift Each Other Up where she shares the psychology of behavior change. She is passionate about getting women to feel like they can do what they say they’re going to do… and to feel comfortable in their own skin as they do it. She’s so honest, talks about really vulnerable topics, and is truly passionate about women supporting other women. I truly got goosebumps every five minutes reading this book! I promise you’ll get so much out of this episode! To download a FREE chapter of her book, click HERE! Welcome to the What's Next! podcast with Tiffani Bova. This week I am beyond delighted to be speaking with Molly Bloom. Molly is an inspirational keynote speaker, entrepreneur, and the bestselling author of Molly’s Game, a memoir which was adapted into an award-winning film of the same name by Aaron Sorkin. Molly began her career as a world-class skier. While training as a pre-teen she was diagnosed with severe scoliosis and had to undergo surgery that doctors said would end her athletic career. A year later, fully recovered, she was back on the slopes and went on to join the U.S. Ski Team. But, her Olympic dreams would go unrealized and this would lead her to what she thought would be a year sabbatical in LA. She was finishing her degree in Political Science at the University of Colorado – Boulder and was in the process of applying to top tier Law Schools, when her assistant job turned her into an accidental entrepreneur running one of the most exclusive, high-stakes underground poker games in the world, pulling in as much as $4 million per year. What happened next is where her story truly begins! The film Molly’s Game, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, stars Jessica Chastain (as Molly), Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, Michael Cera, Brian d’Arcy James, and Chris O’Dowd. Bloom has appeared on numerous shows and in media outlets such as Ellen, Vice, The Los Angeles Times, NPR, Vulture, and has been asked to speak at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women, for companies like Blackrock Financial, SiriusXM Radio, and delivered the 2018 commencement speech at Colorado State University. I am truly delighted to have Molly Bloom on the What’s Next! Podcast. THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR… everyone! Everybody and anybody will find Molly’s story fascinating and intriguing. TODAY’S MAIN MESSAGE… Molly shares her story of inspiration, intrigue, and events straight out of a Hollywood movie! She recounts her journey from Olympic-hopeful and college student, to LA waitress, to building and operating the largest and most notorious private poker game in the world. Molly’s story is one of innovation, inspiration, ambition, redemption, and entrepreneurship. WHAT I LOVE MOST… I love what Molly has to say about owning your name, and really being seen and heard. I also love how clear she is on finding what you stand for and getting clear on what you are and are not willing to do. Molly Galbraith, Woman-in-Charge at Girls Gone Strong, talks to the former NSCA Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Scott Caulfield, about the history of bringing Girls Gone Strong to fruition and filling the void of fitness information geared towards women. Find Molly on Instagram: @themollygalbraith or @thegirlsgonestrongShow Notes“It's time that more women rise up in the field of strength and conditioning. Now you all have each other's contact information. Do something awesome.” 8:01 “And 81% of women in the US report having experienced harassment. 35% of women globally are survivors of sexual assault.” 13:32 “So it's a tall order to change the culture of the health and fitness industry.” 17:33 “Or my favorite is asking them to explain what they mean by that. And then they get real awkward. They'll like make a joke or make a sexual reference, and you're like, I don't get it. What do you mean? And then they actually have to say out loud. They're like, I mean that I would do-- OK. And then they start to realize…how bad it was.” 21:39 “And basically we talked about how important it is to create an environment in which the women that you're working with… feel safe, that you're helping them feel strong and capable.” 22:45 “I'm a huge fan of this understanding that we're better together.” 32:47 “They can find me on Instagram @themollygalbraith, also Girls Gone Strong @thegirlsgonestrong… probably the best way is we have a free Facebook group for health and fitness professionals current and aspiring, it's called GGS Coaching and Training Women.” 46:50

S1E2 It started innocently enough on foodie social media. Smidgen host and owner of Red Stick Spice Company Anne Milneck noticed pretty pictures posted of baked dinners, but now this classic method of preparing dinner bore a new, modern name: Sheet Pan Suppers. The “new” and “trending” adoration lofted on these meals made Anne a bit bemused, and (with tongue in cheek) cranky. On this episode of Smidgen, Anne tries to get to the bottom of where this trend started and why it holds sway over much of social media. First up is Molly Gilbert, author of Sheet Pan Suppers, who gives her thoughts about why sheet pan suppers are so popular, and shares her tips on how to pull off an amazing sheet pan meal. Next Anne draws upon Lili Courtney, cooking instructor, who has led a dozen Skillet & Sheet Pan classes at Red Stick Spice Company. Lili explains some of the techniques for sheet pan suppers and offers her thoughts as to why we’re all talking about them. To deepen her “investigation” Anne turns to social media expert Chelsey Blankenship and Erin Bowling (of the @eatbatonrouge Instagram account) to explore how trends ebb and flow, and the role of “influencers.” (Spoiler alert: we’re being influenced.) Cooking Segment: To cap it all off, Anne heads over to the Red Stick Spice Company Test Kitchen with store staffer Sara to actually make a sheet pan supper! Carrot tacos emerge from the oven on sheet pans, totally photo-worthy, and delicious (a fabulous use of Red Stick Spice Company’s Taco Tuesday seasoning.) Mentioned on the episode: RECIPE: Make your own trending dinner with our recipe for Sheet Pan Carrot Tacos. The tacos were baked with Taco Tuesday Blend and Garlic Jalapeno Extra Virgin Olive Oil. RECIPE: Don’t forget the Restaurant Style Big Batch Salsa! Molly Gilbert’s book, Sheet Pan Suppers. Find Molly’s website is Dunk & Crumble and be sure to listen to her podcast, And Eat It Too.
