What if the pain you're running from was actually your greatest teacher—and the food on your plate was part of a national security crisis? In this soul-stirring Earth Day conversation, Darin sits down with food activist, author, and resilience icon Robyn O'Brien to explore how our food system is not only making us sick—but also threatening the health of future generations. From surviving public crucifixion as a whistleblower to advocating for systemic change in agriculture and health care, Robyn's wisdom hits hard. X: @thefoodbabe @americasrt1776 @ileaderssummit @NatashaSrdoc @JoelAnandUSA @supertalk Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with Vani Hari, food activist and a MAHA Leader working with HHS Secretary Robert Kennedy, Jr. The conversation highlights Vani Hari's important work as a MAHA leader in the efforts to create clean food ingredients and remove artificial foods dyes harming Americans, and especially children. On the eve of the first 100 days of President Donald Trump's second administration, Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy, co-hosts of America's Roundtable were invited by The White House Media Affairs Team for an exclusive Madia Row event in Washington, D.C. Also known as the "Food Babe," Vani Hari has spent over a decade sounding the alarm on the concerns of deceptive practices which are occurring in the food industry. According to the White House, some 30 million estimated number of American children were adversely affected with health conditions in 2022 and 3.4 million children are on ADHD medication. Further details from Vani Hari: ✔️ 1 in every 13 children have food allergies in the U.S. - which is about 2 children per classroom. ✔️ Food allergies in children increased approximately 50% between 1997 and 2011. ✔️ Every 3 minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency room. ✔️ New cancer cases in the U.S. increased by 36.3% between 2000 and 2021. According to critics of large food companies, there is an interesting correlation between the changes brought to the kitchen table and throughout fast food locations and restaurants with certain food ingredients (which are banned in Europe and other places around the world) and the cost of healthcare in America. The Peterson Center on Healthcare established by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation states: "Health spending totaled $74.1 billion in 1970. By 2000, health expenditures had reached about $1.4 trillion, and in 2023 the amount spent on health more than tripled to $4.9 trillion." americasrt.com (https://americasrt.com/) https://summitleadersusa.com/ | https://jerusalemleaderssummit.com/ America's Roundtable on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/americas-roundtable/id1518878472 X: @thefoodbabe @americasrt1776 @ileaderssummit @NatashaSrdoc @JoelAnandUSA @supertalk America's Roundtable is co-hosted by Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy, co-founders of International Leaders Summit and the Jerusalem Leaders Summit. Molly Patrick is a self-described dirty girl who loves to eat clean.   Her path to healthy living is unique to say the least, but it has also helped her transform thousands of others into the healthy bodies they've always desired.   Molly grew up living off the land. Her parents fashioned their home out of mud, straw, and rocks. They did not have electricity, hot water, or indoor plumbing. It was truly an 18th century way of life in modern times.   Interestingly, Molly has never eaten meat. Her passion for healthy eating was developed early. Yet, she still struggled with health in other areas. She has overcome addictions to cigarettes and has been sober since 2015.   This is certainly one of the most unique stories ever told on The Exam Room Podcast.   "The Weight Loss Champion" Chuck Carroll sits down with the Clean Food Dirty Girl, Molly Patrick, for an unforgettable tale of health on The Exam Room.   — — SHOW LINKS — — Clean Food Dirty Girl Save 50% off your first month of Molly's Plant Fueled Life Website: https://cleanfooddirtygirl.com/examroom Instagram: http://instagram.com/cleanfooddirtygirl Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/cleanfooddirtygirl — — — Free Athlete Nutrition E-Book https://www.pcrm.org/athlete — — BECOME AN EXAM ROOM VIP — — Sign up: https://www.pcrm.org/examroomvip — — THIS IS US — — The Exam Room Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theexamroompodcast — — — Chuck Carroll Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ChuckCarrollWLC Facebook: http://wghtloss.cc/ChuckFacebook X: https://www.twitter.com/ChuckCarrollWLC — — — Physicians Committee Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/physicianscommittee Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PCRM.org X: https://www.twitter.com/pcrm YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/PCRM Jobs: https://www.pcrm.org/careers — — SUBSCRIBE & SHARE — — 5-Star Success: Share Your Story Apple: https://apple.co/2JXBkpy Spotify: https://spoti.fi/2pMLoY3 Please subscribe and give the show a 5-star rating on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or many other podcast providers. That idea for this episode was sparked by an article in the Guardian about a woman who changed her yard into a suburban micro-farm. That article hit so many positive notes that I thought it was worthy of an entire episode. But first, I did a quick review of the new documentary "Food Inc. 2". This is a sequel to the popular but controversial documentary "Food Inc", produced in 2008. Although they made excellent points in this sequel and it's an important topic for the front burner, I would have to put this one in the category of "more of the same". I recommend that you may be better off watching the first of this pair of documentaries, which is available on YouTube TV, Netflix, and other places. This educational piece on micro-farming used a specific example of one woman's brave step into what will hopefully be the future of local farming. In 2014, the Obama Administration started the micro-farm program which joined forces with local farmers and wanna-be farmers to provide financial incentives for homeowners to grow their own food.  At a time when folks are concerned about the rising price of supermarket food, this program provides an opportunity to have free food or nearly-free food grown in your neighborhood. This program utilizes water recycling and overall water conservation, community access to organic soil,  space-preserving technology, natural pest control, farm subsidies, and a path to cash for sharing your harvest.  All this program needs now is a nudge from our leaders.

In this episode of the Growing for Market podcast, host Andrew Mefferd invites guests Billy Mitchell, Chris Callahan, and Andrew Chamberlin to discuss efficient systems and organization for packing sheds. We discuss the principles of good flow in a wash/pack situation and how to optimize cold storage in post-harvest handling. The guests emphasize the significance of creating a comfortable and efficient work environment by considering factors such as walking paths, space, lighting, and ventilation. They provide practical tips to improve work flow, such as identifying bottlenecks and rearranging workstations or introducing hanging shelving. The episode also delves into the five-step cleaning and sanitizing process for wash pack areas, with the addition of a crucial fifth step: drying surfaces after sanitization. The concept of dry-cleaning (not like laundry) is discussed as an alternative to wet-cleaning surfaces, with brushes, brooms, vacuums, or compressed air for debris removal. The importance of cold storage in maintaining produce quality is highlighted, with recommendations for small CoolBot rooms and considerations for larger spaces. The conversation concludes with resources including tools, articles, and informative materials to help optimize post-harvest handling practices and create efficient and safe work environments. In this episode we discuss:0:03:11 - Improving the Design of Greens Bubblers0:09:22 - Container Options for Efficient Farm Operations0:14:01 - Cleaning Tools0:22:26 - To Wash or Not to Wash0:27:54 - Design Principles for Good Flow in a Wash Pack Situation0:34:59 - The Five-Step Cleaning and Sanitizing Process0:35:56 - Cold Storage as the Endpoint of Wash Pack0:40:37 - Common Mistakes in Wash Pack Operations0:42:33 - Cultural and Communication Challenges0:43:17 - Investing in Quality Tools0:45:19 - Continuous Improvement and Problem Solving0:52:24 - Future Focus: Sustainable Packaging  In Shop Talk with Neversink Farm we chat about new tools, old tools, how they can benefit your farm and tips to use them successfully with Conor Crickmore of Neversink Tools, which manufactures tools for farmers. Let me make the following bold statement; every person (or animal) has one thing in common-eating food is the most important aspect of life, period. With that said I offer the following: Eating clean food is a revolutionary act that in many ways flies in the face of what “they” want you to do. Everywhere you look companies and governments are trying harder and harder to dictate what you eat. Their advice is printed in magazines, in doctor's offices, on billboards, radio ads, tv ads, pre-roll videos, etc. The drumbeat of advice that's bordering on being pushy is nauseating especially when this advice has words like “FDA approved” “CDC recommended” or “health experts say…” I operate from the approach that whatever “they” say or recommend if I do the opposite. They want me to eat plant-based foods so I eat more meat. They want me to drink “safe & effective” USDA grade A skim milk so I drink full-fat raw milk purchased directly from family farms. They want me to use “heart-healthy” polyunsaturated seed oil so I use lard, butter, coconut, and olive oil. In order to avoid grocery store CAFO meats I buy direct from farms or grass-fed/finished aggregators. Not food related but when they try to force me to take their serums in my arm I tell them to piss off. Let's be clear, IMO if you take “their” advice your lifespan is in serious jeopardy, this is a documented fact. Why does the food taste like nothing? Even the fruit these days is being bathed in questionable substances like waxes and other more evil and non-washable, non-natural encasements funded by wealthy tech billionaires. Plus I find most store-bought fruit to be tasteless and expensive. It seems most of the food supply has lost its flavor, its taste and is not healthful. The middle of the store is filled with items I no longer recognize, sure the name and brands are the same, but the ingredient lists are long, hard to pronounce, and downright comical. Food additives are “generally considered as safe” really? who says that? Ahhhh..the FDA…same group that approves drugs to later pull them when people die….sorry I don't trust them. think we are all safer when we just eliminate all the packaged foods like chips, crackers, and most packaged condiments, the CAFO meats, the cheap sugar-filled dairy items, the processed meats, seed-oil fried fast foods items (ya even Chik fil A), and focus on real foods, that we grow or raise ourselves or buy from ethical growers. We cannot as a society keep listening to these “experts” by following the food pyramid and hoping for the best. We need to take matters into our own hands and realize that food choices are critical to long-term health or lack thereof. Please start reading labels closely, if it has a label you probably want to scrutinize it or just forget it. I challenge anyone to find me a healthy person, who is able-bodied that eats from the center of the store or regularly eats seed oil fried foods and junk foods……I'm waiting….! I know, some of you think this sounds high and mighty and possibly negative, but I'm just sharing what I think. We have cleaned up our diets and stopped buying chips and crackers with limited exceptions. I was pissed the other day at my father-in-law who does not care about what he eats bought all sorts of garbage for our kids while we were away; Doritos, potato chips, and candy all the while good raw milk was going bad in the fridge along with other healthy foods. Even my kids who grew up eating well will choose the garbage snack foods because they are so addicting once you try them. Eat only 1 Dorito, I dare you, it's almost impossible.

However with food, we're making these choices five, six, seven, eight times a day… We are constantly making food choices and it can be really distressing for people who don't know what to choose.” “I remember fearing when I was a vegan, I was like, “what if I decide I want meat someday, and here I am calling myself a vegan, and then everyone's gonna call me a hypocrite.  I'm gonna go down that road of judgment and criticism. So there's a lot of psychological distress around eating regardless of what the diet is.”“We just have to remember that it doesn't actually matter what other people think. What matters is what's right for us.”“… all of a sudden you start to expand your palate because you're like, “I wonder what that tastes like?” and this is food curiosity… and then we go back to psychological like, “oh gosh, I can't remove meat! I could never remove dairy. I don't know how I would function!” People have done harder things,  and if we get playful and think of it as an experiment through the lens of childlike eyes, it's “I wonder how would I feel without dairy for a week?”For more information about Jamie and to purchase her book, Clean Food, Messy Life: A food lover's conscious journey back to self, visit: JamieTruppiNutrition.com.What came up for you as a result of this conversation?  Let Linda know by going to Normal-Lies.com and leave a review.  Linda reads every one and every month, she chooses one review to read on air.  Who knows, she may choose yours! If you have a question or a topic you'd like addressed on an upcoming episode, go to Normal-Lies.com and click the contact page to send Linda a message. "For a good idea, there's a lot of money.” —Simón Sacal   Eating clean foods is one of the most important things we can do for our health. It helps keep our energy levels up, reduce cravings, and maintain our weight. In addition, clean foods are nutrient-dense and packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which are essential for maintaining a healthy immune system, and preventing inflammation and chronic diseases. With its many benefits, it's not surprising that clean eating has become one of today's hot topics.    In this episode, Justine sits with Simón Sacal, the CEO of Solely Fruits. Simón strives to give back to society with Solely's work, particularly the ones that have helped create the company— the farmers, who do not have efficient market access for the fruits that are grown on their farms. Thus, he established a long-term partnership with them to help bring delicious and nutritious fruit snacks to the world!    Solely's values are evident in its dedication to clean and real ingredients. All of their products are made solely out of Certified Organic produce which is purchased from the farmers they work with. Additionally, Solely has invented an innovative technology that eliminates the need for traditional additives, preservatives, and other artificial chemicals, meaning the nutrient content in their fruits remains intact. Ultimately, this makes their products not only safe to consume but good for everybody and the planet as well.   Listen in as Justine and Simón dive into the conversation on the need for clean foods, how to make a family business work, how culture impacts how we perceive healthier alternatives, how Solely built a framework for sourcing out high-quality ingredients that are well-priced, Simón's tips to scale your business, and Solely's product lines you may want to try!  Meet Simón: Simón is the co-founder and CEO of Solely, the maker of the fastest-growing line of real fruit snacks. In an effort to help the Mexican government provide accessible fruits to children, Solely shifted their primary focus from rice and potatoes to fruits. Solely prides itself on only using real and clean ingredients as its products are made from Certified organic produce bought from organic farmers they work with. Additionally, Solely's innovative technology allows them to develop stable fruit bars without the artificial chemicals that compromise the fruits' nutrient content.      Website Facebook Twitter TikTok Instagram LinkedIn Connect with NextGen Purpose: Website Facebook Instagram  LinkedIn YouTube Episode Highlights: 00:57 The Need for Clean Food 08:22 Why Fruits? 13:04 Making Family Business Work 18:33 The Impact of Culture on Food 23:02 Good for You Products 39:06 Solely's Product Lines 34:03 The Importance of Working with the Right People 37:09 3 Practical Ways to Scale Your Business

And so much of what we've done is just like action creates action. You need to put one foot in front of the other and you've got to live to fight another day. And so often, people don't realize the accountability required to take action. No one else is really ready to give you the level of advice required or the rules that you need to break to get it done, because they don't want that in their life. And so, you have these people with great ideas and the idea doesn't matter.” (08:36) (Greg)“We're not rewarded for failure either. We're rewarded in school for perfection. And that's not what the journey is about at all. It's about how often you can pick yourself up off the ground and get up and do it the next day with a smile on your face. And if you can do that, you can do anything.” (10:25) (Greg)“There's interesting ways to do things that are still healthy. Our creamy dressings are a great example. We emulsify them with egg instead of dairy or whatever weird powders or thickening agents are out there. And that came because we wanted to stay a ‘clean eating' brand and we wanted to avoid as many allergens as we could possibly avoid.” (20:08) (Greg)“And so when we were thinking about the brand, it needed to be timeless. It needed to be scalable, right? It couldn't be region specific. And it needed to be authentic. People needed to be able to get into it and go, ‘Oh, wow. I can't believe this story is real.'” (22:18) (Greg)“If it doesn't taste good, I mean I don't even know why we're doing it. That is the only purpose of something being in a bottle and being bought, in my opinion.” (26:58) (Greg)“And so, when you get into more traditional marketing methods, you get farther and farther and farther away from just the initial gut reaction of a person walking into a store or experiencing a...

Ok so the past several episodes have been about toxins, and this is the last and perhaps most important episode - how do you avoid toxins? Well, we don't sell plastic bubbles......Toxins are everywhere, and detoxifying and removing them from your body is often a really important piece of healing from any inflammatory or autoimmune condition, but what if you have never experienced many symptoms or chronic disease? It's just as important!!In this episode I drop a ton of recommendations and suggestions (as always) for areas of your life to focus on if your goal is a non-toxic lifestyle, including:Clean Air  - I think this is the most important/underlooked area in non-toxic living!! Indoor air quality matters more than outdoor air quality (where do you live? indoors.), but both matter. Particulate matter, dust, mold, mycotoxins, pollution, formaldehyde, VOCs, off-gassing - - I discuss all of these risks in this episode along with air purifiers, air scrubbers, special filters, formaldehyde meters, ozone, and more for CLEAN AIR!Clean Water - this one is pretty easy to understand and something that many people address - - filter your water! Water could have metals, medications, hormones, pesticides and other toxins toxins toxins - - and sometimes well water is worse than municipal - - and I talk about all these risks. The solution is to filter your water, but what is the best??? My answer may surprise you.....(listen to the episode!)Clean Food - another fairly well-understood and obvious one, but besides the problems with some "natural" foods (high sugar, vegetable oils, gluten, dairy, lectins), your food is TOXIC!!! Food has pesticides, aluminum, dyes, preservatives, and all sorts of toxins that need to be removed via your detoxification pathways. Eat organic, but I also talk about the value of knowing where your food comes from and some of the resources my family utilizes to get clean food. Clean Skin - I admit this is not my specialty, I don't really use anything on my skin, but the point is that the stuff is TOXIC, and these toxins accumulate and affect things like hormones and fertility. Aluminum in deodorant, sodium laurel sulfate in shampoo, parabens in lotion, coal tar in lipstick, VOCs in nail polish - - don't put anything on your skin you wouldn't eat!!Clean Brain - believe it or not, I'm not talking about neurotoxins in this section, I'm talking about what you put into your MIND - - is social media and video games or books and positive affirmations? Your brain can be neurotoxic with aluminum, pesticides, or mycotoxins, but a toxic MIND can sometimes be even worse. I also touch on a few other things - - exercise, sauna, and probably more :) As always, let me know what you think, leave a rating or review, and follow my social channels!!
