We do a short after-action report on the Eastern Tennessee Homestead Alliance festival, revisit a few items as we approach the one-year anniversary of the historic disaster caused by Hurricane Helene, and talk about radio and communications interference. We look at the common types of manmade interference and what you can do to ensure you aren't the cause, because making lots of people look for you isn't very gray man. We also discuss what you may want to consider adding to your plans if you experience intentional interference during an emergency. We also listened to an example of interference during my time in Eastern Tennessee with GSM and a much more entertaining example of some amateur operators trolling someone who is causing intentional interference to keep him talking until they locate him. Jimmy Morrison co-wrote and directed the award-winning documentary The Housing Bubble with NY Times bestselling author Tom Woods. On Monday, Spain, Portugal and part of France came, literally to a screeching halt for many hours. Millions are still without power.  What happened? And could it happen here?  The Portuguese grid operator blamed extreme temperature variation-induced “oscillations” in its high-voltage power lines. It may actually have more to do with the unreliability and attendant problems caused by so-called “sustainable” wind and solar power generation, on which the affected grid relies for over 50 percent of its electricity. Parts of the U.S. electric grid certainly face such so-called green energy-precipitated problems as solar and wind farms that work part-time replace coal, nuclear and gas-fired power plants that work continuously.  That's a formula for disaster here, too. Until it's reversed, our grid will go down, too – if not due to enemy action or solar storms, because of insane green energy policies. This is Frank Gaffney.

The US Government's EMP Commission's report stated that at E.M.P. attack could take out the nation's power grid for over a year. After a year without the grid, said the report, that 60% to 90% of Americans would be dead. On this week's Stansberry Investor Hour, Dan and Corey are joined by investor and award-winning filmmaker David Tice. David is the chief investment officer and senior adviser of a short-selling exchange-traded fund. He also is partner at Moran Tice Capital Management, an investment-advisory firm.  David kicks off the show by discussing his documentary starring Dennis Quaid, Grid Down, Power Up. The film centers around what would happen if the U.S. power grid went down and the country was left without electricity for a lengthy period of time. David talks about how preventable the catastrophe could be if the government invested in utilities. And he shares that a disaster like this could result in hundreds of millions of Americans dying of starvation or water deprivation. As David emphasizes, this is a very real danger, as America's adversaries are already in the grid from a cyberattack standpoint. (1:36) Next, David details his short-selling AdvisorShares Ranger Equity Bear Fund (HDGE). He explains that the fund is up year to date since many bad companies are finally starting to do poorly in the market, especially in commercial real estate. And several factors – overvalued stocks, high interest rates, massive national debt – are setting the country up for a huge decline. David urges listeners to prepare for the worst rather than try to eke out a few more percentage points in gains, especially considering today's geopolitical conditions. (17:44) Finally, David breaks down how he and his team at HDGE discover companies to short. He cautions, however, that bad stocks can soar just as much as good stocks, so timing is the key factor. After, David discusses his precious metals hedge fund and the huge opportunity he sees in mid-cap producers that are selling extraordinarily cheaply. He lists off two particular gold stocks he's a fan of and explains why he has so much hope for this sector. (34:57)
